This place is nasty, don't walk, run!!! The food was left on the table from the night before. Reporting to the health department.

Have been going to this restaurant in Ogunquit for 30+ years. Went to dinner on October 7 to celebrate a major anniversary. From New York State so I was looking forward to it. However, we were seated in a back room which had no air conditioning so we opened some of the windows as did other diners. Some diners that were already there did not receive their drinks with their dinner, no one asked them if they wanted cheese and some water glasses were not filled so they got up and got it themselves. Everyone was shaking their heads and complaining. When our server finally came over 25 minutes after we got there we asked for water she took our entire order at one time. My husband's soup Appetizer came out way ahead of my shrimp cocktail appetizer so he was done by the time I got mine. The server brought the wine with the cocktails opened the bottle and had me taste it then poured some in each glass. It was at least 30 minutes more until we got our entrées. The food was wonderful however the service was lacking and when I approached the manager/owner to say that she hadn't even looked in our room and that several customers including us were very unhappy she told me I was expecting too much, they were not inexperienced, she rolled her eyes at me and on our way out of the restaurant I Purposely avoided going by her but she caught me at the door told me I was a bitch never to come back again and she didn't care that we were unhappy. My husband was ahead of me and said just let it go and we'll go to the car. We have posted several bad reviews on other websites. We did a little research when we returned to our hotel only to find out that Roberto's is up for sale so apparently she doesn't care and just wants to get rid of the business. Do not go here if you want a good Italian meal either look up restaurants on yelp or ask at your hotel. Angelina's is excellent give that a try but don't go to Robertos unless next season in 2023 there is a new owner and they have adequate help. Other restaurants in town were shortstaffed as well but posted signs or told you at the door that they were short staffed and appreciated patience. If Roberto's owner had said that rather than attacking me for the whole restaurant to hear, that would have changed the entire evening. Instead we were sorry we didn't go to the FRONT YARD or Angelina's which are both excellent. DO NOT GO TO ROBERTOS!!! read more

We really enjoyed dinner here again for the 5th year in a row that we have eaten here when visiting Ogunquit. The staff is excellent as is the choice and quality of the food. They have a very nice outdoor space and nice ambiance. read more

I don't recommend the eggplant parm- that's a disappointment. The noodles were separate in a bowl and the eggplant was something to be desired. Instead try the roasted chicken or stuffed mushrooms. Mediocre and left much to be desired. Roberto's used to be one of our favorites and sadly so it's a place we won't return for quite some time read more

Picked up take out tonight. A plain cheese pizza from the Pizzeria. Won't be getting that again. $17 for a medium plain cheese - really thin crust and so garlicky it wouldn't matter what the crust or cheese was like. Way way too much Garlic. read more

As a several summer full season Ogunquit summer guest- I rate Roberto's as one of the best in town for several reasons: 1. As they are not Oceanside they have made up for this with a light and well orchestrated ambiance with crisp & comfortable decor that is in keeping with the vacation environment. This is however; not a flipflop off the beach establishment- do shower and casual nice dress is the norm...this is a nice upscale place that has also with new zoning just added outside dining : ) They also have a nice slightly less formal bar that also seats to eat. 2. This is probably the cleanest restaurant in town. My hat off to Cathy the proprietress- who must run a tough ship- as the bathrooms are state of the art and always spotless- and I always believe clean bathrooms is a sign of a clean kitchen and this makes me feel good about the food : )) the dining rooms that are bravely decorated in get dirty decor also always look like they were just done yesterday! This impresses me.... 3. The menu is new Italian or gourmet Italian fare I suppose infused with the correct amount of fresh season foods and well I guess classics too like oysters Rockefeller! Which are yummy! I love the very fattening, sigh, seafood pasta dish, but try to stick to the Devine encrusted halibut! The shrimp cocktail is always superbly Fresh and the bisque is mouth watering....couple this with a decent wine selection and you have a perfect pre-theater or date night choice. It also warms my heart that this is a local establishment that has been around for many years- if I could - I always like to make at least one remark- maybe improve one thing- I miss the days when more of the local kids worked & waited on us in the restaurants ...it was fun watching the next generation grow up and put themselves through college in summers like we all did...not sure why I don't see more of this anymore... In any event they do a nice job at Roberto's and you will have a lovely dining experience, say hi to Cathy-she's great! read more

If I could give this restaurant a zero star rating I would. My wife and I ate there this weekend and had a terrible experience with the owner/manager. My wife has a severe gluten allergy and we communicated this to our waiter. I don't believe he had a clue as to what we were talking about, but he said he notified the chef. After waiting around 45minutes for our meals to come out, my wife and I noticed that her meal was covered with flour and if she had eaten it, she would have got really sick. She ordered something different and another 45minute went by. By this time, my meal was cold and we never got any visit from the manager. We told our waiter that we wanted to see a manager as nothing was prioritized and after almost 3 hours of waiting, it was quite ridiculous. We were then visited by the manager/owner who was angry with us for wanted to speak with her..... I told her that if my wife had eaten the meal that was delivered, she would have gotten very sick and she frankly stated "but she didn't did she". I was shocked. We've never been treated so rudely, she then threatened to call the police on us claiming we refused to pay our bill, which is 100% not true. We paid and left, but this is a fair warning to anyone going to this place. Go somewhere else! The food is mediocre at best, but this person deserves no one to go to her restaurant. Ate at Roberto's Pizzeria tonight, the pizza was one of the worst pizza I've ever had. Couldn't eat more then one bite. Tasted of cleaner. Asked for Parmesan cheese noticed there was a funny smell after using, THERE WAS GREEN MOLD AT THE BOTTLE OF THE SHAKER. When I told the waitress she let me know "you are the second person to complain about this today, my manager says it's fine and normal for these cheese to look like this" would recommend by passing this and walking a few more feet for edible food! read more

I have been to Roberto's many times over the years and am disappointed to say its gone down a few notches. Perhaps some of this could be explained due to it being the off-season; perhaps the staff is new and inexperienced, but that's all speculation, and, we still paid high season prices. Roberto's continues to have a warm and romantic ambience. They have taken good care of the location. The staff was very friendly but apparently quite inexperienced in even some very basic ways. The hostess was quite pleasant but looked jarringly out of place in sneakers, some sort of football jersey, and ripped blue jeans. Maybe ok for Chili's or a sports bar but not for a place where people are looking for something a little more romantic. Our waiter was dressed fine and was very pleasant and attentive. But he seemed confused, forgetting things. My wife ordered a steak and he gave her a butter knife to cut it with. The food isn't at the same level as it used to be overall. The strip steak lacked flavor. The chicken marsala was served in a bowl; it looked more like a stew, but the real disappointment was the flavor. The chicken was dry in spite of being submerged in sauce and the sauce itself was missing something. The only positive note was the baked manicotti which was delicious. I have fond memories of Roberto's, so I hope they can get it back together and return to the level of quality they achieved in the past. read more

The food and service was good. We are big eaters, and I feel like the portions were a bit small for pasta dishes. my 10 year old got scallops over linguini and I thought there should be more linguini. I understand the need to not deal with leftovers in a vacation area, but it's an Italian restaurant and you should never leave one hungry! My halibut over julienned veggies dish was very good but I had to add salt, pepper, borrow my husband's lemon wedge and throw a bit of olive oil on it. Then it was perfect (for me). Nice atmosphere and all, but a bit pricey for what we received. read more

Ordered linguine with meatballs, menu price was $20. The linguine was typical linguine, meatballs were delicious. The bill comes and I was charged $21, so I asked the waitress about the discrepancy---she said there was a $1 charge for the SAUCE on the meatballs. Not only did the menu not state this, but she didn't ask me if I wanted sauce at an extra charge. Typical overcharging of customers in a tourist town. Would never go there again. read more

Been coming to Ogunquit for years with my wife. We took my mother in law to Roberto's for her 55th birthday dinner. We waited 1-1/2hrs for apps and made reservations for 8pm. When we were done eating it was 10:30 and we skip desert. We ask to talk to the manager and the owner came out. And blame all there issues on us. She had an excuse for everything. We ask why the apps came out so late and she told us why are you eating so late. She rip up a piece of paper in my mother face and told us she wasn't comping us and doesn't care if we ever come back because she always busy and doesn't need our money. What a you know what. We will never step foot in her establishment and you shouldn't either. I suggest that place in ogunquit for eating instead of this attitude in ogunquit.y read more

My daughter and I went two nights ago and had a very nice experience. Last night 5 people in our party went again. We will never go back. Despite the food being good we had a horrible experience. In a nutshell we waited over an hour and a half for our food. The waitress kept telling us "two minutes".... Asked to speak with manager. Owner Kathy commerato came to our table. Expected her to apologize, offer to see what the delay was... Whatever. No, she told us to take a chill pill. Called us liars, said "you are on vacation, chill out" etc etc.... Overall, a very disappointing experience. Be prepared to wait. It is very obvious that this restaurant is short staffed. Our waitress apologized many times because there was only one bartender working and that's why our drinks were taking so long. The food took just as long and when it came the waitress had messed up one of the orders.The food was just okay. My husband was extremely disappointed in his veal saltimbocca because it was covered in spinach. He orders this dish often in Italian restaurants and there is never any spinach in it and there was no mention of spinach on the menu. The waitress never asked how our food was and she didn't bring a second round of drinks that was ordered. Will not be going back at those prices. read more

This was the final restaurant of our stay in Ogunquit and it was a fabulous way to cap off our dining experience! Started with lobster bisque that was, well, you pick the adjective, but I'm going with scrumptious! Wife had the caprese salad and loved it. At our table we had the lobster risotto, seafood risotto and the lobster popadello and they all were amazing. The portions were generous and most of us left some on our plate. In spite of not having any room, we had the blueberry pie for dessert and it was well worth the extra bites! This hits high on our list of favorites. read more

Nightmare "dining." Never in fifty years of dining in NYC, London, Paris and all across the United States have I witnessed a temper tantrum from an owner like the owner of Roberto's. With hostility and belligerence she ranted at my brother and I while accusing me of causing a disturbance. This was because my brother refused a veal parmigiana that was prepared without parmigiana and then returned to the table with microwaved melted cheese and the same cold side dish of pasta. The night before we sent back overcooked veal and lamb chops. The courteous waitress agreed and had the kitchen prepare new chops. The owner from hell never made an appearance. We went the second time because of the proximity to out hotel and we didn't want to drive or walk far. We could never have imagined the bizarre behavior we encountered on our return visit. When we recounted our tale to our hotel they said they never send guests there. The bartender at another hotel's restaurant said he'd warn his customers. When we shared our experience with the waitress at "Jackie's Too " Perkin's Cove, she looked at us and with perfect delivery responded succinctly, "try working there." There are so many good choices in Ogunquit for dining. Even if you are tired, it's worth the car or trolley to go to a professionally run restaurant. Take the advice and recommendations of your hotel. read more

Went here for my brother Kevin's birthday dinner -- I don't usually get excited about Caesar salad but it was awesome. Also had clams casino for an appetizer, they were great. Being from NJ, was initially skeptical of Maine Italian food. They crushed it here. I had the penne bolognese which seems simple but was delicious. Our server Michael was excellent, and Alex was great too. Looking forward to coming back. Other entrees we ordered were osso bucco, veal saltimboca, and chicken marsala. I went to the pizza place next door. This is my second time visiting this place. The pizza was burnt all around the edges and they were being extremely cheap with their toppings. And I only ordered the cheese pizza..... How does one be cheap on the cheese part of a cheese pizza? We also got an order of their wings. It tasted good but it was also a bit burnt. The only reason they didn't get a 1 star or lower is because their staff was clearly overworked and lacked the patience to deal with peak season of the summer crowd. read more

I attended this restaurant with the hope that I would have a great time with my friends but upon arrival I was treated with disrespect and inappropriate behavior. They served my friend with a gluten intolerance food that was downright unacceptable. The owner was rude to me and my companions and did not appreciate us one bit. Last night an odd thing happend at Roberto's..my family turned into lepers sometime between the antipasta and the main course. It must be so since our waitress ignored for nearly 1:20 minutes. We sat at 7:30 and received our entress at 9:20. I have had a similar experience as other reviewers; went once & loved it, albeit in the off season. Last night was the "on" season and forget it, I won't go back. The tables are so close the waitress's skirt brushes your tables but her attention doesn't come anywhere near you. Unless you are the table behind us, that she was fawning over. No water glasses being refilled...no bread not a "sorry, we're backed up, here's a complimentary appitizer" etc. Really, "sorry" would have done it. I spent $145. I need a bit more attention for that kind of money. When the food arived, the rack of lamb was greasy, the pasta was out of a box. Box is OK but use Barilla or some good quality stuff not Ronzoni. On to a better restaurant. There are plenty more. Won't go back. ***post note***the owner contacted me 9 months after this riview to say, "gee, wish you had come to see me while you were here" Here" mmm let's see, you mean while you were fighting with a cook in the hallway? Food was good. Only reason it's not getting 1 star here. Extremely slow service. Waitress got multiple things wrong on our order. Would disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time. Pleasant staff although not very strong in English so it makes ordering difficult. Staff did not have good knowledge of the menu. Very difficult for patrons with small children - no ramp for a stroller, barely any room for a high chair, in fact didn't even offer us one, so my wife sat and ate with our baby in a body sling. Staff was somewhat miffed that they had to "deal" with our stroller. Far better restaurants are only a stone's throw away so I would avoid this one- especially with the prices of the entrees. read more

We had a reservation this evening. Arrived to find a hostess who clearly had lost control of the restaurant, and had no idea when we might get a table although several were empty. We eventually found a seat in the bar only to be verbally abused, talked down to, eye rolled by the young bartender/waiter because it was busy and he didn't want to do his job. Eventually, the jovial other man behind the bar took our drink order and the younger man gave us menus. It then has taken several times to be able to place an order.....the young man finally takes the food order but said he can't take the drink order. Understandably a busy night, but the treatment we've received thus far makes me wonder if I'll ever return. Still waiting on the food.....it certainly looks worth the wait, so we are hopeful for that. I recommend they give their young bartender some customer service training. read more

This was underwhelming at best. If you see an ala carte menu, the expection is that each dish is carefully and impeccably prepared. Our table had an array of dishes including Chicken Parmigiana, Chicken Picatta, Manicotti, and Osso Bucco, etc. The Chicken Parm was generic, and the Short Ribs were compared to "Dinty Moore beef stew". The other dishes were good, but not great. Commenting on atmosphere/ service, the location and ambience is warm and welcoming. The room that we were placed in had three other parties. One party was so loud, I didn't realize that they had music playing until an hour into service. The loudest/craziest of of their "party" turned out to be on the wait staff??!! Another party was wearing "Giant" sportswear. Now, granted, it may not be the wisest thing to wear NY sportswear in New England, however what happened was unbelievable. The two guests were belittled by someone on the wait staff... hostess.... owner? , YELLED at for their choice of attire, and in essence encouraged to leave. These were paying customers (and a whole lot more civilized than the rowdy party). In conclusion, if you are looking for quality authentic Italian cuisine, this is not your destination. If you want noisy drama, and a forgettable meal, this is your spot! read more

We found this place to be quite delicious, with a calm aesthetic atmosphere which made dinner very enjoyable. We started off with an order of the bruschetta, and even I found it delicious not being a huge fan of raw tomato. They also bring out a basket of bread with a bowl of olive oil and sundried tomatoes, which was pleasantly tasty. We ordered the seafood risotto that consisted of scallops, shrimp and lobster in a homemade risotto (SO GOOD) and chicken parm (EVEN BETTER). All in all this was an excellent dinner and we will definitely be returning next time we're in ogunquit. PS. the house chardonnay is wonderful, just ask the two empty bottles that the busboy picked off our table. read more

This establishment trys to mask an overworked staff and even worse the uptight rude boss. EPIC FAIL. We have seen enough here and will not be back. The food is mediocre at best but supporting such a nasty person and the way she treats customers and staff isn't on my radar. Be warned you don't want to get into it with her. We've been here many times with just two people and to 6 people. The drink pour is a healthy size and the complimentary bread is a nice offer. Let's talk food...the seafood risotto is EXCELLENT! It's hard for me not to order something else! The oysters Rockefeller are great. The beef carpaccio is amazing - we get an order every time we go. The osso bucco is delicious Thank you to Alex the bartender for the recommendation. The menu is huge and diverse. There is something for everyone. Be patient and be prepared as this restaurant is busy and the kitchen takes it's time in preparing your dish. The flip side of this is that you are not rushed out of your seat for the next party. Complimentary valet is a plus. You may also see the lovely owner walking around and letting her gracious hard working staff do their thing. See you all soon! read more

Rude rude rude. I made a reservation here 3 weeks ago at 8. We got there at 8 and was told it would be 10 minute wait.Fifteen to twenty minutes later,still no table with no apology.After 45 minutes said it would be another 10. At that point it was around 9-9:10.They should not overbook if they know we could not be seated on time with a reservation.Unless you have an extra 2 hours to wait do not go to this place. read more

Definitely a hidden gem. It was still off-season, and a rainy evening, so it was pretty quiet when we came in for dinner. My husband has a cheese allergy, and the staff was wonderful about working around it to accommodate him (some places find this quite difficult, especially Italian!). Servers were super friendly, portions are large, pasta is fresh-made (mmmm!), the wine was great, and we had a wonderful first anniversary dinner. read more
