It was a really bad night there which is so disappointing as we had great meals there last summer. The service was horrible. The waitress was lousy, didn't help with the menu, only took half of the tables drink order and left because she "got buzzed by the kitchen". Food was not that great. My Linguini Vongola was terrible. The clams were very gritty. The broth was very dark grey and sandy. So much so, it ruined the pasta. Won't return there again. The food was absolutely amazing and our server, Jennifer, was outstanding! When you come to Ogunquit, you must eat here. Period.

Made a reservation for dinner. We were seated right away. We noticed there was absolutely NO safe distancing between the tables and the restaurant was completely full, and there were no windows opened for ventilation. The table behind us was the only empty table, and the host told us it would remain that way. Five minutes later, they sat a party of four on the empty table. The back of our chairs were right up against each other way too close. We asked the host if they could move the table a little farther, we got horrendous attitude from one of the servers. The other party agreed we were way too close for comfort, and they were happy to move farther away. The wait staff kept apologizing to everyone, they had a bartender in training, so everyone kept returning their drinks because they were not correct. Who trains a bartender on a Saturday night??? There were two things that saved our evening, our server "T" was a gem!!! And the food was absolutely fantastic. If you do not care about safe distancing, I truly recommend this place, I hope you ask for "T" as your server, she is a delight!!! Hopefully the bartender will be fully trained by now..... read more

Roberto's is a very cozy looking place from the outside, and is fine on the inside. The service is generally good but the food has never really "wowed" me. In our 11 years of vacationing in Ogunquit, we've dined here maybe 6 times. We've had some quiet, romantic dinners where the food was good but we've also had not-so-stellar meals. Last night was the worst experience ever and we won't be going back. We had good service in a very noisy environment and so-so food. First my wife ordered a margarita at the bar while we waited for our table which turned out to be $13. I thought this was excessive. We ordered the clams casino appetizer which was greasy and the clams were way overcooked and barely chewable. I don't know how they could serve this. Wife had a grilled vegetable "stack" as a salad which she said was all right. For dinner we had simple pasta with marinara sauce and a "stuffed portabello" which contained some seafood and other ingredients. This tasted OK but was served as a big nasty looking heap on the plate. This place has no flair for presentation or for food in general. Most of the menu options are uninspired, just nothing special. The menu is large and there were probably 30 "specials" as well. This is not a good thing. I think they're trying to do too many things and do none of them very well. I'd rather see fewer choices and better quality. Roberto's has become a lot more expensive over the years. Entrees are now in the high $20 to low $30 range which I would expect in a better place but not here. Go to Katie's across the street and see what good food is, for the same price. read more

I don't know what is going on at Roberto's, but whatever it is, it is not good. Went to Dinner Saturday evening and it was not as typically as busy as usual. Sat at bar and bartender was efficient and friendly. However after that all down hill from there. Ordered Manacotti, and wife ordered Chicken Parm with side of Linguini. Both orders way over cooked, shell on Manacotti was so tough needed knife to cut thru it. Chicken Parm even more tough as normal cuts with a fork, virtually need steak knife to cut through it. Used to be one of our favorite stops in Ogunquit, now looking for other options Italian food. Waited about 40 minutes from time of order but did not feel bad as couple beside us waited nearly and hour. They left rather unhappy as well. read more

So we made a reservation on July 31 for Monday august 30 when we booked our hotel . This is the second time we have been disappointed by robertos they confirmed on august 29 and we called them back and said we will be there at 700 . They called us at 830 on the night before to say the are now closed on mondays . This is a very busy time so for 4 weeks they had our reservation and no one saw they had a reservation for a night the restaurant now was closed . We waited a while before a hostess came over and she informed us that even though we had a reservation for outdoor dining, all of those tables were unavailable. When we asked if we could wait, she informed us that this was not possible as the outdoor parties had recently been seated. No one in the restaurant seemed apologetic or concerned about losing our business--and judging by recent reviews, this seems like the norm these days. read more

Tonight was our second visit to Roberto's and we were as delighted tonight as on our first visit. From the greeting we received from the valet to the bartender's welcome to the hostess' reception; we felt appreciated as their guests. Though we made a reservation, we arrived early and found two seats at the bar; Roberto's is quite popular and when we arrived @ 6:15, we got the last two seats. We decided to have our meal seated here and upon notifying the hostess there was no issue. The bartenders, a husband and wife team, are efficient. Though very busy, they handled our drink and dinner orders quickly. The food was delicious; we chose an Antipasto platter for two as an appetizer; it could stand alone as a meal especially with warm bread and dipping oil served while waiting for our order. For the main course I had braised short ribs over risotto; SAY-VOR-RY and my husband had Chicken Cacciatore; dee-licious. I highly recommend Roberto's and will return on our next visit to Ogunquit. read more

We will never go to this restaurant again. We had 7:15 pm reservations for Saturday night. The waitress set up a table for us outside and we were seated. We were given menus and water and our drink order was taken. All of this was done in a timely manner. Our wine was brought to us and our dinner order was taken and bread was delivered. About an hour later, we were asked if we wanted more wine. We stated no that we just wanted the food that we ordered since we had a three hour drive back to CT. A little while later we were again asked if we wanted more wine and my husband jokingly said that only if it was free since we were still waiting for our food. We were never told why we were waiting so long. Shortly thereafter, the manager/owner came storming out and asked us how things were going and I stated that we had been there for an hour and forty-five minutes and just wanted our food. Her response was "I doubt that" and proceeded to say that we were not getting anything for free and that we had two choices-take our food or leave! I told her that we weren't asking for anything for free. We just wanted our food so we could leave. At this point, we didn't even have napkins or utensils. When I was trying to defend myself against this verbal abuse, she kept telling me to keep my voice down even though she was the one yelling at me. She never once apologized for the delay in our food arriving. She just continued to say that we had two choices- take our food or leave. We had no choice but to wait for the food since it was now 9:00 pm (the hour and forty-five minute time period that she had the nerve to say she doubted) and getting food from a different location would have been difficulty before our trip home. I was deeply embarrassed to be berated by her in front of the other guests. I have never seen a manager/owner treat a customer in this manner. She made it out somehow to be our fault. The food arrived in 5-10 minutes. At this point, I was too upset to eat it and my risotto was hard and crunchy. We paid our bill and left. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME TO GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. There are many of other lovely restaurants within walking distance of this place. MC Perkins has a beautiful view of the water and a very friendly owner. We enjoy 5-0 Shore Road and Northern Union. We have never had a problem there. On Saturday, we also went to Rose Cove and Bandittos. Neither to these restaurants had a problem with staffing and we had our food in a timely manner. If the owner treats guests like this, I can only imagine how she treats her employees. No wonder why she is under staffed. read more

People give this place crap but I thought it was great. I had the diavlo (wish they had a shrimp and muscle option) and it was great. Roberto's has become a staple during trips to Ogunquit! A beautiful restaurant, with an exceptional bar, servers, and owner. In April, I took 6 friends there for their first time, and we had such an amazing dinner! Upon returning this week, the server, John, welcomed me back and asked how I had been doing! The take-out or eat-in wing off of Roberto's restaurant serves up terrific thin crust pizza made-to-order, in a child-friendly atmosphere. We ate on the modest outdoor patio, where pie after pie of super thin crust pizza came flying out of the kitchen. Fresh spinach salad (with bacon and green apples!) was super as well. Beers on tap. Over 2 hours waiting for our food and got our appetizers within 1 hour. Only took drink orders once. Food came and it was not what we ordered. We didn't get bread. Came here with the family on vacation. Fantastic service! I ordered the braised short rib and it was just as great as the service was. A tiny bit slower, but it was very relaxing. Over the top scrumptious! Great menu. If you are looking for seafood because you are in Maine it has several choices. We had the Osso Buco. Delicious! And the Short Ribs over Parmesan Risotto. My husband and I went here for Mothers Day dinner. We were pleasantly surprised that for the special day all ladies entrees were half off..how nice! I had a shrimp cocktail which was good. The waitress was a young lady who served us well. She gave me a wine recommendation that was right on. I had the lasagna and hubby had the hot sausage on Spaghetti. We both LOVED our entrees. The lasagna tasted homemade, as did the sausage. I don't for the life of me understand the negative reviews.. We are picky eaters and our food was delicious! Wow, I'm surprised and disappointed to see all the negative reviews on Roberto's. My family has been dining sporadically at Roberto's for the past 30 years mostly when we used to summer in Ogunquit years ago. Now my folks have moved to Maine and so did I and so we go when we can. I just spent the past two weekends in Ogunquit...one for a birthday weekend and one for a sisters getaway. I dined at Roberto's for two Saturday nights in a row and had the most pleasant of experiences AND the most tastiest of foods. The first Saturday, we were celebrating our son's 3rd birthday, and we all had wonderful food. I had the baked lasagna, a favorite, and it was comfort food at its finest. Also, our waiter and the wait staff along with the owner came out with the biggest piece of chocolate cake I've ever seen for my son and sang him a rousing happy birthday to his utter delight. Then, this past Saturday night, I dined with my sister, and we had excellent service, wonderful entrees (penne bolognese for me, and a half lobster with shrimp scampi over cappellini for her) and drinks. It was exactly how we remembered when we used to dine with our parents here all those years ago. It was delightful and I would happily go back and encourage anyone who's vacationing in Ogunquit to give it a shot. While I have not yet tried their pizza, the hosts of our B&B, both on separate occasions, raved as it being the best in town. read more

Have been going to this restaurant in Ogunquit for 30+ years. Went to dinner on October 7 to celebrate a major anniversary. From New York State so I was looking forward to it. However, we were seated in a back room which had no air conditioning so we opened some of the windows as did other diners. Some diners that were already there did not receive their drinks with their dinner, no one asked them if they wanted cheese and some water glasses were not filled so they got up and got it themselves. Everyone was shaking their heads and complaining. When our server finally came over 25 minutes after we got there we asked for water she took our entire order at one time. My husband's soup Appetizer came out way ahead of my shrimp cocktail appetizer so he was done by the time I got mine. The server brought the wine with the cocktails opened the bottle and had me taste it then poured some in each glass. It was at least 30 minutes more until we got our entrées. The food was wonderful however the service was lacking and when I approached the manager/owner to say that she hadn't even looked in our room and that several customers including us were very unhappy she told me I was expecting too much, they were not inexperienced, she rolled her eyes at me and on our way out of the restaurant I Purposely avoided going by her but she caught me at the door told me I was a bitch never to come back again and she didn't care that we were unhappy. My husband was ahead of me and said just let it go and we'll go to the car. We have posted several bad reviews on other websites. We did a little research when we returned to our hotel only to find out that Roberto's is up for sale so apparently she doesn't care and just wants to get rid of the business. Do not go here if you want a good Italian meal either look up restaurants on yelp or ask at your hotel. Angelina's is excellent give that a try but don't go to Robertos unless next season in 2023 there is a new owner and they have adequate help. Other restaurants in town were shortstaffed as well but posted signs or told you at the door that they were short staffed and appreciated patience. If Roberto's owner had said that rather than attacking me for the whole restaurant to hear, that would have changed the entire evening. Instead we were sorry we didn't go to the FRONT YARD or Angelina's which are both excellent. DO NOT GO TO ROBERTOS!!! read more

I don't recommend the eggplant parm- that's a disappointment. The noodles were separate in a bowl and the eggplant was something to be desired. Instead try the roasted chicken or stuffed mushrooms. If I could give this restaurant a zero star rating I would. My wife and I ate there this weekend and had a terrible experience with the owner/manager. My wife has a severe gluten allergy and we communicated this to our waiter. I don't believe he had a clue as to what we were talking about, but he said he notified the chef. After waiting around 45minutes for our meals to come out, my wife and I noticed that her meal was covered with flour and if she had eaten it, she would have got really sick. She ordered something different and another 45minute went by. By this time, my meal was cold and we never got any visit from the manager. We told our waiter that we wanted to see a manager as nothing was prioritized and after almost 3 hours of waiting, it was quite ridiculous. We were then visited by the manager/owner who was angry with us for wanted to speak with her..... I told her that if my wife had eaten the meal that was delivered, she would have gotten very sick and she frankly stated "but she didn't did she". I was shocked. We've never been treated so rudely, she then threatened to call the police on us claiming we refused to pay our bill, which is 100% not true. We paid and left, but this is a fair warning to anyone going to this place. Go somewhere else! The food is mediocre at best, but this person deserves no one to go to her restaurant. Ate at Roberto's Pizzeria tonight, the pizza was one of the worst pizza I've ever had. Couldn't eat more then one bite. Tasted of cleaner. Asked for Parmesan cheese noticed there was a funny smell after using, THERE WAS GREEN MOLD AT THE BOTTLE OF THE SHAKER. When I told the waitress she let me know "you are the second person to complain about this today, my manager says it's fine and normal for these cheese to look like this" would recommend by passing this and walking a few more feet for edible food! read more

As a several summer full season Ogunquit summer guest- I rate Roberto's as one of the best in town for several reasons: 1. As they are not Oceanside they have made up for this with a light and well orchestrated ambiance with crisp & comfortable decor that is in keeping with the vacation environment. This is however; not a flipflop off the beach establishment- do shower and casual nice dress is the norm...this is a nice upscale place that has also with new zoning just added outside dining : ) They also have a nice slightly less formal bar that also seats to eat. 2. This is probably the cleanest restaurant in town. My hat off to Cathy the proprietress- who must run a tough ship- as the bathrooms are state of the art and always spotless- and I always believe clean bathrooms is a sign of a clean kitchen and this makes me feel good about the food : )) the dining rooms that are bravely decorated in get dirty decor also always look like they were just done yesterday! This impresses me.... 3. The menu is new Italian or gourmet Italian fare I suppose infused with the correct amount of fresh season foods and well I guess classics too like oysters Rockefeller! Which are yummy! I love the very fattening, sigh, seafood pasta dish, but try to stick to the Devine encrusted halibut! The shrimp cocktail is always superbly Fresh and the bisque is mouth watering....couple this with a decent wine selection and you have a perfect pre-theater or date night choice. It also warms my heart that this is a local establishment that has been around for many years- if I could - I always like to make at least one remark- maybe improve one thing- I miss the days when more of the local kids worked & waited on us in the restaurants ...it was fun watching the next generation grow up and put themselves through college in summers like we all did...not sure why I don't see more of this anymore...
