Excellent classic Cajun cooking, family ambiance, down to earth food with refined touches, a must!

We arrived at 515pm with dozens of cars already there. Ambiance is cottage casual. Service was friendly, prompt and helpful for menu choices. We had crabcakes and FG tomatoes, both delish and perfect split for 4. We had 4 different entrees including daily special - all generous portions and cooked perfectly, served with salad, veggie and starch. Desserts were also generous and tasty, enough to split. I would definitely return for a great casual meal or to bring visitors for a true Louisiana experience of food and hospitality. Well done! read more

I got a chance to try this hidden gem and I was not disappointed at all! Everything and I mean everything was on point! What I ordered: 1. Fried green tomatoes. 2. BBQ shrimp and Grits. 3. Caesar salad. 4. Shrimp Roberto: 3 large shrimp wrapped in bacon and fried, set with beurre blanc & finished with hollandaise and parmasean. 5. Blackened striped bass (my favorite!) 6. Forgot the name of the dessert but it tasted like a whopper candy, but in an awesome way! Overall, get your butt to try this hidden gem out. You won't regret it! read more

Went on a Wednesday. Heard great things but tried to sit at the bar. The bartender, a young lady was very rude. Acted as if she did not want us there. We said we were there for drinks then perhaps dinner. She literally pushed drinks toward us then proceeded to complain about working there. read more

If you haven't gone to Roberto's.............GO! Like.........right now! Lol. This is such a hidden gem. My husband took me here for a date and everything we ate was so good. The BBQ shrimp and grits are the best I have ever had. The Stuffed Chicken and Shrimp Roberto were also amazing. If I had to pick, I would pick the Shrimp Roberto. It is fried to perfection and the stuffing is excellent. Both dishes were paired with a side salad, mashed potatoes and the vegetable of the day (green beans). My brother brought us here when we were visiting him in Baton Rouge. I never would have found it on my own. It is in a small building seemingly in the middle of nowhere. It felt comfortable and homey as soon as we walked inside. Everything we had was fantastic, from drinks, to appetizers, to entrees, to service. My son wanted to taste alligator while we were visiting, and the alligator appetizer was fantastic. Nothing like the chewy bland bites we have had when visiting tourist spots in New Orleans. I am not a huge seafood fan, but figured I would have some etouffe while in town. I don't know if I can say I am not a huge fan any more! I would have this more often if I lived nearby. It was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. The prices are more than we usually pay for a dinner out, but definitely worth it. My only complaint is that they started putting up the chairs and so forth well before closing. I understand that because it was a slow night, but I wish they had started with other tasks that didn't make us feel like they were rushing us out. read more

Have been here twice for lunch with work friends. The service is really good considering how packed it can get. I really want to try it for dinner as some of the lunch menus seem delicious but a little heavy for me (when I'm going back to work). The shrimp and grit cake appetizer was delicious and their poboys were good too. Fresh bread and full of seafood. Nice place for a business lunch - kinda pricey (almost $200 for six people today with no alcohol and no dessert), but the food and service were great. Vegetable of the day today was lima beans- a nice change from the usual broccoli or green beans (maybe not technically a vegetable, but who cares?). Soup of the day was stuffed bell pepper - essentially a ground beef soup with a hint of bell pepper and good spice. Very good. I didn't try them, but the specials looked very good (striped bass, a fried pork chop, and a fajita wrap). What I did try - shrimp Roberto - was really good (bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp). The stuffing was good, and the buerre blanc sauce was great (smooth, creamy, with a hint of lemon). I have learned that wrapping bacon around shrimp that will be deep fried is a waste of good bacon (there is just no bacon flavor after it's cooked - not bad, just no bacon flavor). Overall, a good meal, good service- an out of the way place with a good twist on some traditional dishes. read more

If you're looking for a place with 5 star seafood, great service, and a unique ambiance, this is it! I will say that the outside and inside of this restaurant is very old. It's basically an old house. However, do not be fooled by that. Everything is clean and the food is so good. During this visit, I got one of my favorites for lunch called the Shrimp Roberto. On the lunch menu, this dish comes with 2 seafood stuffed shrimp (versus 3 on the dinner menu) wrapped in bacon and deep fried set over a white wine butter sauce. The dish also comes with a slice of garlic bread, mashed potatoes, and the vegetable of the day which for me was green beans. The seafood stuffed shrimp were outstanding as always. They both had so much stuffing inside and were cooked perfectly. The white wine butter sauce was delicious and went well with the stuffed shrimp and mashed potatoes. Excellent service and food as always! We showed up at opening for my father's 60th birthday with large group of people from Biloxi to Kentwood to Biloxi. All were shocked once they went through the doors at how amazing the staff and atmosphere was. We ordered several of the River Road Shrimp, Fried Gator, and weekend special Seafood Spring Roll appetizers which were phenomenal. The River Road Shrimp being the most popular that we had to order a few more due to the delicious Poboy style bread and spicy brandy butter flavor. Most of our group ordered the weekend special Touchdown Soft Shell Crab and Seafood Platters and were blown away at the portion sizes and great taste. Also I ordered my personal favorite the Shrimp Roberto, with 3 seafood stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon and fried, talk about good. As previous reviews have stated, this is the one of the best kept secrets in Baton Rouge. Thank you specifically to Hays, Britlyn and Caroline for the 5 star service and accommodating our large party. Highly recommend Roberto's for a date night or quaint family get together. Easy to find south of Red Stick. What a place. I was driving the levee alone, my daughter "touring" LSU, and came upon it. Terrific bar service for a single eater on his phone. This hidden gem has easily become one of my favorite restaurants! Don't let the exterior steer you away, the food is DELICIOUS and has so much flavor! We started with some cocktails, I got the bbq shrimp and grits appetizer, and OMG sooo delicious! One of the best appetizer's I've ever had. My boyfriend got the River Road Shrimp appetizer. The River Road Shrimp is a lot on the spicy side, but still pretty good. I got the Duck as my entree, absolutely amazing!!! The sauce makes it even better. My boyfriend got the Tournedos and he really enjoyed his meal as well. This place is a 20/10 for me and I can't wait to come back and try more stuff! read more

Roberto's is a hidden gem! I travel miles just for the amazing Cajun Crawfish Salad. Please don't be fooled by the outer appearance. The inside of the restaurant is cute, cozy and takes you back in time. The food is addicting. I'm not a bread pudding fan by any means, but I highly recommend the Mardi Gras Bread Pudding. Celebrating family birthdays here was really special. The server was super attentive and cordial. She kept our drinks filled and replenished. Great and lively atmosphere. Conversation flowed, with lots of laughter and smiles, then came our food. Their Sensation Salad was sensational to say the least. My wine was very good and the beers were extra cold and refreshing says my husband. Everyone enjoyed their meals which included the crawfish étouffée, fried shrimp platter and mine was the bbq shrimp and grits- it was so perfect and delicious. Went to this place after hearing about it, and we had an excuse...a business lunch meeting. I had the Shrimp Roberto, and it was great. Everything else on the menu was so tempting that I kept thinking to myself...next time, next time. :) Place was busy, but it was clean. Service was good and prompt. Price...well, pricey, my group went and only ordered teas and entrees, no alcohol or dessert, and it was almost $200 bucks for the 6 of us. My overall impression is that this is a good place for lunch or dinner that has good service and clean welcoming environment. It's way out of the way for me from my house, but I'd go here if someone tempts me hard enough. read more
