Decatur Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89118 ( 1/2 Star) Roberto's Taco Shop has been a Southwestern institution since 1964, when Roberto and Dolores Robledo opened a small tortilla shop in San Ysidro, California. What began as a family tortilla business eventually grew into one of the largest Mexican fast-food chains in California and Nevada, with dozens of locations throughout Las Vegas. Unfortunately, history doesn't guarantee quality. I visited the Decatur location and ordered two tacos, a Chorizo Torta, and a Bacon Breakfast Burrito. From the very first bite, it was obvious the ingredients were low quality. The tacos lacked fresh flavor, the chorizo torta failed to impress, and the breakfast burrito wasn't much better. Nothing tasted particularly fresh, nothing stood out, and perhaps most importantly... Nothing made me want another bite. Las Vegas is overflowing with outstanding Mexican restaurants, taco shops, and family-owned taquerias. That makes serving mediocre food even harder to justify. Roberto's may have helped define the fast Mexican food scene in the Southwest decades ago, but based on this visit, the Decatur location isn't keeping that legacy alive. Big Boy Says... I don't come here for authentic Mexican food. I know there are better, more authentic choices in the Valley. What I come here for is late night eating when the nacho and taco cravings hit. This location is situated at the corner of Hacienda and Decatur. They are open 24 hours and they have a drive-through. My friend and I decided to eat in inside. It was quiet for a Friday night and our order was promptly taken and five minutes later we had fresh food in front of us. We each had a chicken taco because they have the best chicken tacos I've ever had. If you come on Wednesday they are only $1.59. Not on the regular menu but they will make it for you if you ask are the Carne Asada nachos. These nachos are meant for sharing. They are huge and loaded with cheese, guacamole, sour cream, onions, tomatoes and topped with a large amount of tender Carne Asada. Once again Roberto's proves to be the late night king of quick and tasty Mexican food. read more

But they still showed on the display and now they charged even when they still display the soda comes with the combos service soso. Food ok. But is not right to still from the customers like that. Today I went to the Roberto's on Rainbow and Blue diamond to get my Monday special carne asada fries like I have for the last over year and a half however I don't usually go to that location it was a much smaller portion than usual very little cheese and no beans at all and about half the amount of carne asada and I've been to four other locations that I visit and they're all about the same this is the first time I've ever been disappointed I'm guessing just somebody needs a little more training maybe it's a new employee read more

How can a burrito be bad... the put a piece of chicken breast that was so dry, no rice, no refied bean, no sauce, WHAT this is not a burrito. What can I say but the food is delicious and the portion sizes of their dishes are huge too. I ordered the carne asada fries and the California burrito. The portions for the carne asada fries was massive. The California was huge too! They don't go skimpy on the ingredients in their dishes at all. The service is pretty good. They're quick on helping you out, taking your order, and getting your order ready as well. The ambiance is clean and not fancy at all. You can't go wrong with the amazing late hours they are open for business. The only draw back that I can think of is that they don't have too many employees that speaks English when you're placing or picking up your orders. The first time I encountered Roberto's and the poster of Asada Fries was in Phoenix and I didn't even know it was a chain. "Do you eat those everyday?" I asked the woman at the register... (Expecting an enthusiastic "of course!") "Yeah, naw.. not really. A few times when I started." To her, I now understand, it was like working at a chicken joint and taking home unsold pieces at the end of the day-- or McDonald's and taking home fries. Just not that special. Always solid. Chicken burrito comes with a ton of chicken. Use mild hot sauce to make it taste better. The hot sauce is way too hot for it. My only complaint is that the shells on the tacos -- rolled and regular -- are always so hard. This restaurant is always a reliable option though. I give it 4 stars. read more

Who can say no to $1.29 chicken taco Wednesday's. I've eaten more Roberto's tacos in the last 3 years than I've made at home. (And I make tacos often, they're basically Mexican sandwiches.) They don't skimp on the meat they put inside. No, these are not your normal $1 tacos that are just sad tortillas with mostly onion and cilantro inside with a taste of what chicken could be. These tacos are thick, cheesy, and best of all greasy. Some of you may not like that. The fat kid in me says "yyyaaaasssss". When it's not Wednesday I usually opt for a Chile relleno burrito. Again, they believe in stuffing a tortilla to the brim. It's best when it's eaten hot so the cheese in the poblano pepper is a bit runny and the flavor combination of the beans, rice, Chile, cheese, and egg make you have a momentary lapse in sanity. Best Roberto's I've been to. They have glass windows showing the kitchen. For a burrito shop it was nice. Walked in and ordered. Ordering was quick and easy and got my order in about 5 minutes. I got the carne asada burrito it was really good for a burrito quick place. I enjoyed it and the sauces they had were good with it, for me enough spice to still enjoy the flavor. This joke of a place deserves 0 stars. I came here today and they got my order completely wrong to begin with. I had to come back to tell them they messed up on my entire order. They gave me what I thought was the correct order but when I got back to my house it was completely wrong. I asked for a beef enchilada and got a cheese enchilada--the cheese was hard and not even melted at all.
