Was not worth the money we paid for. In total we got a Carne asada burrito (which was ok), a carnitas burrito (order it just rice and beans messed up the first time and had pico de gallo and no rice or beans. They remade it and still messed it up. No rice or beans again (did not try for a third). Got asada fries (were decent but had a lot of beans). The parking lot was filled *granted it was a bit ok the small side. But there was still people flooding in I mean tacos at night are the best you experience tacos for lunch maybe for dinner but that feeling when you get tacos in the dead of night now that's a good feeling. Got an horchata and some tacos which isn't too bad as a late night snack *you can order a meal for your late night snack no judgment we've all been there. Overall my experience was pretty pleasant, the location is pretty small I remember all the tables being filled *after we got our seats. Late at night when the rest of the city is asleep, my insomnia kicks in, and the bright lights of downtown call my name. With a lot on my mind and no sleep in sight, we took to Pokémon Go. Around 2:30 AM after avidly catching critters for a few hours, I got late night munchies. This late though where is there to go? Well hey Roberto's is open!! Now this late at night, I'm not after salads and healthy food! No, I need enough calorie laden food to saturate me in to a coma so I can finally sleep!! Asada Fries, perfect!! Deep fried french fries on top of refried beans smothered in guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, cheese and the most amount of Asada I have ever seen on fries!!! Heaven. Ok, so we tried this place again even though I hate that they use styrofoam, and it was much better. We ordered the carne asada tacos and they were VERY good! They were not the tiny taco's I usually find, and there was a bunch of nicely sized pieces of tender steak and lots of avocado, very tasty! Ordered the usual over the phone. Carne asada burrito and the chicken tamale plate. Said it would be ready in 15 mins. Went in, not busy at all. Paid for my food but it wasn't ready yet..matter of fact our order wasn't turned in yet. Waited 10 more mins and got the food. Went home and started to dig in until I realize THERE WAS BARELY ANY CHICKEN IN MY TAMALES! I've never had the urge to return something to a food establishment before but tonight had to be the first since both the service and the food was terrible. I do appreciate how one of the workers handled my situation fairly with her manager and gave me my money back. I probably won't return soon. Maybe a different night, or months. It was too good to be true and my cravings for Robertos are no more. I rather go to La Michocana where my order is always ready when I call in. Rant over . . . Love Roberto's Taco Shop. I was a very frequent visitor when living in Las Vegas and was missing them once I moved to Reno. But Luckily they decided to open one in Reno down by UNR. Its a bit of a drive for me being in the North Valleys, but well worth the drive. Huge burritos and you can beat their carne asada, breakfast burritos or the price. If you're a fan of the Food Network show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives (DDD) Roberto's UNLV location was featured on the show. They showcased the carne asada burrito and for good reason! This is a very small location compared to most locations in Las Vegas and because of that seating is very limited. But I rarely eat in anyway, its usually a burrito snatch and grab for lunch later. read more

This place was amazing. I was here after a Nevada football game a few weeks back, and the food was fantastic. I had a burrito and two tacos, and it was so filling that I took it back to my room and ate that next day. I would definitely go there again. This is not your typical fast food restaurant, as their food is made to order. Open 24 hours and we were there after midnight, and the line was out the door. Honestly what a great business move putting a Robertos near campus... especially one who's population is about half from Vegas, where this chain is stationed. Roberto's is good, authentic Mexican food with a little extra grease (Whats not to love though, let's be honest). They have TONS of options and they're pretty cheap, always a plus. It's fast as well, so if you're craving Mexican food and are on a time crunch, I always recommend Roberto's. Sometimes, I CRAVE the shrimp burrito. Note, this takes extra time but it's totally worth it. Also, their quesadillas are great. But the one true favorite.... the Chile relleno burrito. 10/10 recommend. Also get sour cream. Honestly the Chile relleno is already my favorite Mexican food. Add it to a burrito? Let me just throw my money at you. Not too much, not to little. You could tell the set up is catered toward the college crowd. A nice place with big windows to take in the surrounding scene. Food - My buddies got the Carne Asada and Carnitias meal plates respectively. I got the Carne Asada Fries that a lot of "Yelpers" seemed to have enjoyed here. I too am one of the many. My fries were prefect in every way, the carne asada was tender and the fries crisp. The fresh guacamole and sour cream and dollop of refried beans just added to the overall balance of the dish. My buddies Carnitias was on point! The best I've propabubly had in a while. Drink - I had an Hibiscus Agua Fresca. It was refreshing, especially seeing this was a hot day. The menu is huge. Alot of different options. They have a drive-thru. Open 24/7. The concept of this restaurant is clever. The fish tacos were delicious, the salsa rojo was spicy but lacking in other flavors, the salsa verde was bland. Mexican food is notorious for its Carne Asada, well mine was dry, chewy and flavorless. Possibly old meat. While I waited I had some hot carrots and some radishes. Also helped myself to the salsa. My tacos were crunchy and good. The chicken was lean. I loved that because I can't stand biting into fat. Atmosphere - Restaurants have come and have gone from this location. This is my first time ever to this building and it was much smaller than expected. Six booths to the right of the register and we sat there. That area also has the soda fountain machine and the salsa bar. There were a few spots against the south windows near the register. Food Drinks - I did not have one today. Food - I had the carne asada fries purely based on other Yelp reviews. I did not even look at the menu. My daughter is like how do you know about them. Really she should know better. LOL. The fries withstood the onslaught of guacamole and sour cream. They were fried to a nice golden crispness. The carne asada was cut to the size of a pea. And there was plenty of it. Then it was topped with a shredded orange cheese that slowly melted as I was chowing down. This would be such a great meal after drinking the night away. Service - We arrived minutes after 11 AM. There was one person just receiving their food and another gentleman waiting on his order. The lady working the register told us to let us know when we were ready as she was helping the back of the house. She walked over after my daughter decided on what she wanted. She must have heard her. We order and the receipt had our number on it. A few minutes are number was called. They pack everything to go. Does not matter if it is to dine in or to go. My boyfriend and I stopped by here today because he was freaking out that a Roberto's was coming to Reno- and I was pretty excited too, seeing as I haven't had ANY Mexican food since moving to Reno a little over a month ago. We ordered togo since it had limited seating and it was fairly busy; 1 order of Carne Asada Fries, 1 order of Rolled Tacos w/ Guac, and 1 Carne Asada Taco. (Didn't realize until our order was almost up that the cashier had made a mistake and charged us for a Taco Salad instead of a Carne Asada Taco, but the owner quickly resolved the issue and gave me a refund.) Afterwards we stopped by their salsa bar which was AMAZING! It included their delicious house-made green and red salsas, as well as whole green onions, chopped cucumbers, cut limes, and carrots that were marinated with white onions. The spread was impressive, I hope it stays that way because it is a definite plus-side that sets this Taco Shop apart from all of the others. After coming home and eating the food, I definitely enjoyed the Rolled Tacos the most, the shell stayed crisp despite being smothered in guacamole, the boyfriend liked his Carne Asada Taco as well. We both agreed that the Carne Asada Fries were just OK- the fries themselves could have been cooked longer to withstand all of the stuff that's piled on top of them. The color of the fries themselves weren't golden brown like they should have been, instead they were a pale yellow and very lightly fried. BUT, it's a new shop, probably with new cooks, so all is forgiven...we will definitely be back, perhaps we will order our Carne Asada Fries well-done next time? read more

We had the Chorizo breakfast burrito,the Carne Asada fries. Nothing disapointed,it was all very tasty. Been here twice now, and Roberto's certainly is A-OK, but I can't go so far to say I'm a fan. My first visit was a little after 8 am for a breakfast burrito. The food was good, but it was not worth the long wait. The staff was really confused and I think they lost a few orders, but thankfully not mine. I left unimpressed but willing to come back and try lunch sometime. Second visit was about 10:30 am on a Saturday so I gave lunch a try. I ordered #1, beef taco and cheese enchilada. The staff seem better prepared, the wait was acceptable, and the food was good but certainly not great. Not sure why this place has so much hype. Not many parking spots so you have to your visit, which is not convenient. Seating inside is very limited. The menu is pretty extensive and as I've said, the food I've tried was good. Prices are reasonable. Best Mexican in town? Good for sure, but not the best. Tacos El Rey has better food, better parking and seating, and comparable prices just to mention one option. I won't be a regular, but if I'm hungry for Mexican, driving by, and see an open parking spot I'd stop; otherwise, I'll just keep driving. read more

I ordered the carne Asada torta and a side order of tamale. Also a horchata. While I waited, I ate carrots from the salsa bar (which I really liked and was happy they were actually spicy.) The torta is huge! Bigger than I've ever had. There was plenty of meat inside. Horchata was exactly the way I like it. The tamale is very good- covered in sauce and not dry at all. I keep hearing the hype from my Vegas friends so I was pretty excited to finally be in the area, hungry, and see that there wasn't a long line! Husband got a asada chimichanga plate and bean and cheese burrito, I had a carnitas plate with corn tortillas, and I ordered the famous rolled tacos for the kids. We shared a large Horchata as well. The salsa bar had large wedges of limes, large slabs of pickled carrots with the occasional whole jalapeno, hot red salsa, mild green salsa, sliced radish and cucumbers and cuplets and plastic baggies. booths were small and the light bulb was burnt out so the seating area was dark, but it was daylight hours so no biggie. Glad we got in when we did because it must have been shift change at the casinos/in between classes as the restaurant started filling up. The food came out fast and looked good. My carnitas were moist and flavorful, with plenty of guacamole. The corn tortillas were a little bit dried out on the edges so they were a little hard and they were oily. These are substantial yellow tortillas, not the soft white corn ones. My husband really enjoyed his chimichanga. We weren't a fan of the rolled tacos. They were hard and fillings dry and flavorless, but they were very generous with the sour cream and guacamole. Rice and beans were great, really flavorful beans and fluffy rice. They hit the spot, and are a great greasy spoon quick mexican joint but not really somewhere I'd go out of my way to go eat or wait a long line for, but I'm sure we will come back if we happen to be in the area and it's not busy. read more

I did not review this taco shop based on quantity or quality of the seating and tables nor how busy it was at my time of arrival. Roberto's would have never caught my eye if it weren't for two things. The people waiting outside to order and my previous experience with them at 11:00 PM in Las Vegas. This place is not for anyone looking for a healthy ANYTHING! It's greasy, has too much salt for me and is probably not Kosher! But, it's fantastic. This location does not have much seating inside, nor outside. Normally open 24 hrs/day, this location is currently only open until 8:00 PM. Due to the hoards of people lining up causing the owners (very nice and friendly gentleman, shook my hand and asked how I knew about Roberto's) to close up shop on the first day due to lack of food! Yes, they are that good. My comment on the cleanliness may be due to it's newness. That's to be seen. If they are still this clean come July 2016, then there's a decent chance that it will remain clean. For now, it's clean and maintained. When you come here, expect someone friendly behind the counter and a reasonable preparation time. That was my experience, for my first visit. Parking is limited Seating is limited (this will have to be corrected in the colder winter months). And, for now, food is limited until 8:00 PM. Be careful where you park. Some business are not too partial to allowing parking for the competition. If you're a student/faculty/staff at UNR, you're in luck.
