Almost missed this place tucked away in the Mae Anne Shopping center near Rocky Mountain Chocolate. We were ordering to go, but there was plenty of clean seating with cute decor. Extensive menu, and the signage was exceptionally clear, so it's easy to see what you options you have. The chile verde burrito I ordered was tender and delicious, and they had some tasty seasonal champurrado on hand as well! Prices were reasonable and parking was easy. Convenient option...will definitely be back to try some other options on the menu.

The strawberry horchata has a weird medicine like taste to it, disappointing because it looked good. The salsa they gave me had what looked like a piece of meat in it? I tried the menudo, it was very bland, the tendons were not cooked long enough it was very tough and hard to chew, might need to try something else next time give them another shot

This little treasure of a find is authentic and has delish food. I decided to try something new...birria soup filled with ginormous clumps of beef in a red flavorful soup. Looking like it's red hot in taste, on the contrary it's not flaming hot at all. Came with lime wedges, tortillas and a side serving of hot sauce. Now that side serving of HOT sauce was too much for me. It was a good thing I had a Modelo Especial to accompany my dinner. I would most certainly order this Birria again.

I have only been once, so this is based on limited information. The place is clean with an authentic atmosphere. The menu has all the standard things of a sit down / take out spot, including breakfast, seafood, and beer & wine. The prices appeared to be reasonable. Service came with a smile, and my to-go order came out quickly. Prices are pretty good.

Very disappointed. The tortillas were raw and the meat had no flavor. Definitely not worth it. Will not go back.. trash!

the place was clean and quiet (everyone busy eating), the service was excellent. the horchata was very good, the el pastor burrito was great, just a little salty for my taste. I really liked the salsa, It was an excellent experience.

Boo. It used to be my go to I haven't been here for a while. Clearly they are using much much much smaller tortillas for their $10.99 burritos my son came in laughing and said "mom this burrito is the size of a spoon, Taco Bell burritos are bigger". And then said it did not fill me up, can I get some $ to run to Taco Bell? Very irritating. And OMGGGG everything is SALTY I didn't eat my beans it was so beyond salty. The checkout lady was sweet so I gave 2 stars. I won't be back if I have to buy 2 dinners for my kid...

This was my first visit. Surprisingly good and authentic Mexican food in an unassuming location. The restaurant is very low-key and a little cramped, but the food is spot on and the service is fast. The Adobada and ceviche will have me coming back again. Their street tacos will be next on my list. They look just as delicious. If you're looking for a good, quick meal, I definitely recommend this place.

Very consistent Mexican food. I like their Pozole, carne asada tacos and their horchata. The fish tacos are pretty good too.

Smallest burrito I have ever paid for. Half the size of anyone else in town. Still $12 . Not worth the money at all.

Ask the Community - Tacos el Rey

Is anything vegan/can be made vegan here?

As with any authentic Mexican taco shop, lard touches just about everything at some point in the kitchen. This is what makes it so good, and also what makes nearly everything so not vegan. The lime slices, jalapeños, and radishes are probably vegan…

I was glad that I did finally drop in. Located in a little strip mall on Valley Road, it's an unassuming place from the outside. The inside is small, but comfortable and it felt very "homey". When I walked in, the first thing that hit me was the smell of delicious food wafting through the air. The tastes did not disappoint. We were greeted and sat promptly by a personable young man that brought us water. The owner then brought us our drinks...a margarita for my dining companion and a Mandarin Jarritos for me. My sip of the margarita tasted amazing! Great balance and flavor. We also received a basket of chips and salsa. You could tell that they were made fresh to order. The chips were crispy and hot. The salsa was outstanding...fresh cilantro...balanced combination of flavors with a nice, subtle kick of spiciness at the back end. Not too spicy...just right. I usually have to ask for something hotter...not in this case. The food was amazing! My dining companion ordered the Chile Relleno plate and I got the Molcajete. The prices are outstanding and the amount of food? Huge plates! My Molcajete was sizzling hot and overflowing with chicken, beef, shrimp, nopales and ground beef mixed with veggies. A large plate of refried beans and spanish rice also accompanied this presentation. Fresh, hot, delicious corn tortillas rounded out each of our orders. We were also given a couple of squeeze bottles of sauces...green and red...to add to our meals if we wanted. Freshly made and the bottles were presented in a plastic tub filled with ice to keep them cold. Great addition to the already amazing food! There's also a nice selection of Mexican hot sauces on the table for you to choose from. We both took to-go boxes...so much food! Mine lasted for 2 more meals! I plan to return on a regular basis...this is now one of my favorite local places for great Mexican food. As always, I suggest that you visit to see what YOU think...
