I would say with my two most recent experiences here, I'd give them 3.5 stars but I'll round up to 4. I used to love this place with the old owner. They have great vegan options! I went in a few months ago under the new ownership and I was not impressed. The staff were awful, not knowledgeable, and downright did not care. I left without ordering. I came back recently with a friend for RI best iced coffee. They had new staff working and they seemed a lot better. I still didn't order food but I'd feel more comfortable with this staff than the others. They had cold brew coffee which was good and they had fridge for their milk so you can put your own in, which I love. They have oat milk for non dairy too. read more

Came in for a coffee. I love that it is self serve-they have regular brewed and cold brew. It snelled so good in there-def want to come back for a sandwich. The employee was super pleasant and made sure to give me a card with a qr code on it to check out the menu. Coffee was perfect. Street parking but it was easy to find and plentiful. read more

Long time staple on the West End of Providence. I once heard of a guy who loved The Hudson Street Deli so much that he traded his car for $700 sandwich credit! I've been coming here off and on over the years, and in my opinion, the breakfast sandwiches are the real standouts. This deli has many choices of breads, and the bagels for the breakfast sandwiches are really good. They offer creative combinations, and vegetarian options are well thought out and tasty. Today I ordered a sandwich for lunch and I went with the Italian. It had plenty of meats, and the Italian salsa & banana peppers gave it just the right amount of spice. The only thing that was kind of meh was the bread. The grinder roll didn't have a crispy crust and it wasn't anything special. I'd order this sandwich again, but would choose a different type of bread. Also want to mention that this deli is in a quiet and walkable neighborhood. Very pleasant spot on the corner and service is friendly and efficient! read more

My go-to bagel shop when I lived in West End. The shop is small and seating is limited, I've always ordered ahead and picked up. There is some seating outside in the warmer months. I moved to Providence from Brooklyn and these bagels were the closest I could find to the bagels I've had back at home. I loved coming by in the warmer months after a morning jog. The people are friendly and I've never had a bad experience with the service there. read more

In an attempt to avoid paying for overpriced, underwhelming food at the nearby Providence Airport, we stopped at Hudson Street Deli for some pre-flight lunch. It is located in an interesting part of town, with some available street parking. They offer breakfast and lunch sandwiches, with hot and cold options for lunch. We seemed to arrive during a rush as we were probably 5th in line. The inside is not very big, and there is only one small island-style table with a few chairs that people sat in while waiting for the food to-go. It took quite a while to prepare our sandwiches, but again, I think it was because the whole option is rather small and we happened to show up during a small rush. We got the smokehouse and southwest sandwiches. Both were pretty good, but I liked the smokehouse better. Overall though, it was just an okay sandwich spot. read more

This place is great. No nonsense. They actively discourage any of that namby pamby stuff like allowing people to wash up before eating finger foods, offering them bathrooms, or informing them when their orders are done. Maybe they should get off their smartphone so they can hear when the sandwich artisan finishes their damned quinoa! What are you some kind of millennial? In my day, the staff at our local deli would punch us square in the face for asking for spicy mayo. Now, kids these days get anything they want. Not here. This place is old school. Hudson market deli has been my go to for Italian grinders For over 30 years. After years of multiple owners. The original Italian grinder from the 90's and 2000's has changed drastically. From the bread to adding salsa was the downfall for me. It did not taste like the sandwich that I had growing up. Which was disappointing. read more

Located on a corner, in a cute little spot in providence. Not much indoor seating, but there is some outside! Omg- a secret vegan haven!!! I knew about the Hudson St Deli from years ago (when I was an omnivore). I stopped in while passing through the area today, expecting to grab my dad an Italian grinder. The Farmory, made with tempeh intead of pastrami, may have just changed my life. The banana peppers and hot sauce dance in the most medical way. The deli also offers vegan cheese substitutions and had 3 sandwiches today, with the vegan icon. I was in a rush but will for sure be back THIS week. March 26, 2026 1pm. My family has been coming here for YEARS; I recently notified they were but open under new management so excited to come in we called and ask them if the take a specific type of payment and were told "yes" we come in and no smiles or introduction to us; we order and the menu is a little squeezed with ingredients together, we got two italian grinders- one of the ingredients stated "tomato salsa" ( which WE DID NOT SEE CAUSE IT WAS SQUEEZED UP on the menu listed with ingredients and I've NEVER heard of having SALSA on an italian) so we proceed to order and ( i am Spanish myself ) the lady could NOT UNDERSTAND anything we was saying, we finally after 10 minutes of struggling to order we order, wait for our sandwiches. We see her packing our sandwiches but she's packing one half with ALL THE VEGGIES IN CONTAINERS; And I'm like ok maybe she didn't understand we said no veggies JUST MAYO mind you! just leave anyways get in the car the meat isn't even on the bread just mayo - then our other sandwiches were COVERED IN tomato salsa HOT as heck. We go inside and jut ask this lady can we please have just the bread and mayo we will build our own sandwiches - she completely flipped; I asked her to call the manager she then proceeds to tell the other workers to not help us even when they wanted to. Made us wait 20 minutes going back and forth tryin just get bread as we did pay almost 34 dollars for these sandwiches. I got the Dexter sandwich and it was okay ($11). It wasn't large, lacked flavor overall and was boring. I couldn't taste the fancy lemon-basil Mayo at all. They put a nice amount of turkey in it and the ingredients were clean/fresh. Just not worth $11. read more

In search of the perfect Italian grinder we ended up at Hudson Street Deli. There we found the friendliest staff imaginable, as well as an amazing sandwich. They also are great at giving back to their community. I wish I could give this place 5 stars as it is considered 5 stars to me on a good day, but that's the problem..their food is too inconsistent for me. I absolutely love their "The George" wrap which comes with black beans, tofu scramble, kale, red onions, peppers etc. on a "good day" because it's delicious and flavorful, however, on a "bad day" it's barely edible because it's way too salty and has too many spices. I hate that when I order from here, I never know what I'm going to get. There's been several times where the wrap was delicious and other times, I couldn't even take more than a couple of bites which is what led me to giving this place 3 stars. If this wasn't an issue, I'd easily give it 5 stars. Ordering is easy, simple, and hassle-free. I always order on the app which is also easy to use and easy to customize orders to my liking which I love. Parking is never an issue either as there is always street parking in the neighborhood. I also hold this place near and dear to my heart because I grew up in this neighborhood and this used to be my corner store where I'd stop by just about everyday as a little kid to get snacks. Wow what delicious sandwiches they have here. I have never been before and Mike and I went for the Foo Fighters challenge. I love the challenge because it really gets us out and trying new and unique and different places. And this was no exception. We ordered ahead of time and Mike went in to get the order when it was ready. It was quick and easy and safe. There is no parking but there was plenty of on street parking. The store is small but plenty big enough for social distancing. I had a roast beef sandwich with red peppers and cheese and lettuce and it was really really good. It was just so flavorful and the roast beef was so tender. I am not very fond of roast beef but this just sounded like a great combination and it really worked. I would definitely go back just for that sandwich. Mike had a turkey sandwich with lots of goodies on it and he really enjoyed it. We also got some fun chips and some different kind of soda to try. Had a large Italian sub, which was made with high quality ingredients. It was delicious. I'd give them 5 stars but $19.25 (total/incl tax) is a bit steep for a sub. I guess prices have gone up everywhere. Is this now the norm? Anyway, they were busy right after lunch hour. I ordered at the counter and didn't have to wait long. Love their sandwiches! This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you - the food is phenomenal. I typically go on Saturdays and it gets super busy. Most of the customers seem to be locals and regulars in the neighborhood. My favorite thing to order is the Southwest (I think about this sandwich daily). There is a good variety of hot and cold sandwiches, as well as breakfast options. The staff is really friendly and the food is made promptly depending on how busy it is. My only complaint is that there are only three tables inside, so it can be hard to find a seat if you want to dine in. read more

Wow wow, this place did not disappoint. Came here for a grinder based on the reviews of others. Thanks yelpers!! I got the Italian and subbed for garlic aioli and added spicy mustard. The Italian salsa they put on the bread is delicious- but also very spicy. If I'd known how spicy it was I would've still gotten it but not added spicy mustard with it. What a great spot. I work in Smithfield and decided to pick up lunch for the team at Hudson Street Deli. By my standards it isn't a far drive but when you are using your half hour lunch break to get there, it's a little farther than needed. However, I've been other time and enjoyed it so I thought people on my team who don't live in Providence could try it out. With that being said, I am totally appalled at how rude the guy cashing people out was. Obviously this was a larger order (not by much it was about 5 or 6 sandwiches). To my dismay they were very poorly wrapped so I politely asked for a different bag and was told, and I quote, "Nope". Thanks for the customer appreciation. *Eye roll* I can't stand when a place doesn't value your business because in their mind they don't need your business because you are just a peon in the grand scheme of things. On a snowy October day, I dashed this Smash the Patriarchy to my office. Unlike snow in October that shouldn't be, this wrap definitely should be. A unique combinations of ingredients., this wrap smashed my expectations. In short, it was delicious. Think vegan "tuna" with the smashed chickpeas meets vegetarian "thanksgiving" coated with cranberry sauce. Fresh spinach with feta and red onion pressed warm in a wheat wrap rounded it out to be one of my favorite vegetarian sandwiches I've had lately. This breakfast and lunch only joint with limited hours (8am-2pm) has a nice selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches and wraps as well as salads, including many vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. I left providence a few years ago and moved back a few months ago. I totally forgot about this gem until today. This is in the oddest but BEST location ever for locals. Literally right in your neighborhood. Everyone who lives around it is pretty lucky. They want you to feel like a friend when you walk in and that's exactly how I felt. The staff is so friendly, bubbly and energetic. The owners are even sweeter! Such good hearted people. Best part about this place is the Vegan options. So many options for such a small place. From vegan cheese, to vegan sausage and tempeh bacon. They have it all so when you are craving that morning meal you can come here and be totally satisfied. My burrito was awesome. They forgot to put the tempeh bacon but it didn't kill the burrito. Still would've been EVEN BETTER. The burrito had great flavored Tofu, black beans, peppers, avocado and Daiya Vegan cheese. I will be back a lot like I used to. This place hasn't changed and it don't think it truly ever does! read more

We embraces the idea of community, sell locally-produced market goods, and take our sandwiches seriously. We are happy to continue the tradition of the Hudson Street Deli. Since 2009 when we have taken over we are continued to make improvements while staying true to the history and successes of the deli.

I didn't intend to order anything with my drink, but I couldn't get the cinnamon bun out of my head so I ordered it along with my iced spiced chai latte. The hen (I think it's their logo) on the aprons of the employees are super cute. We did secure a table. The tables are close together to maximize the number of people who can sit down but I didn't mind. I love their art all around, mostly of birds which I am obsessed with. I love that they have a lot of natural lighting coming through their tall windows. I also like the navy blue and white theme they have going on. The chai latte was perfect. It was the right color (a dark tan), meaning the ratio of tea and milk was good and I could taste a lot of the spices. The cinnamon bun blew my expectations away. The second my teeth made. contact with the icing, it was a magical feeling. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it tasted like, but the closest I got was dulce de leche. It is truly unlike any other cinnamon bun I have ever had. The dough is soft and there is a good amount of cinnamon. It's also $4 which is not bad. I had a bite of their canelé, which apparently requires a lot of work to make. It was very moist, with a great caramelized finish. I am super excited to try their new weekend dinner menu, but also more of their all day menu items.

Self serve milk was at a station in the dining room area. Coffee was good, cold but I would have traded some coffee for a bit more ice to stay that way as I drank it slowly. Both of us were surprised when our meals were delivered: the plates were beaut! In particular his omelet was absolutely gorgeous! Now for the flavors: the omelet had a generous helping of perfect cooked eggs (not sitting in a pile of grease, as restaurant omelets frequently are). It was so fluffy that we both thought "that's way more than the advertised 3 eggs," and the lox was thickly layered whole slices nestled inside the fold. Most places chop the lox like vegetables, add it to the eggs, & make it like a veggie omelet - meh. This iteration was perfect; the lox tasted like smoked salty fish, losing none of that flavor to the omelet itself. The potatoes? Fabulous! Great spice mix, cooked until they were crispy. That was a tasty bit of marble rye toast too. My shakshuka was very good, but a bit less successful. The elements were all excellent; the avocado was actually guacamole since it was mashed & there were tomatoes and spices in the dish. The combination worked, except for the bread element. The dish as presented was really more of an avocado toast with shakshuka on top. It might have been more successful to add the avocado/guacamole as a unique base on the plate, with the tomato sauce and eggs on top with toast on the side (as is the way shakshuka is traditionally served) because halfway through the bread got really soggy & less appetizing. I have never had boquerones before so I wasn't sure which flavor to look out for. The cacio and Pepe was okay. It was a little bland, but since it was my first time having it, I was not sure what to expect. The spaghetti was cooked a little under al dente and the sauce was a lower viscosity than I imagined. My friend had a drink and all together, our bill was close to $100 which is not too bad. The plates look small (about 6-8" in diameter), but the food is filling.
