Met up with some friends for Sunday breakfast here. There were pretty good reviews on Yelp. I found the food the be mediocre nothing special. The service was good not excellent. I had the two by four, others had the egg Benedict, and the French toast. The French toast was good I was told. I also ordered a side of corned beef hash and that was very good! The pancakes were meh... the bacon was fine I had two servings. All orders came with coffee or tea or soda. I was not impressed with the quality of the food. The place was pretty packed and had a steady flow of customers. It seemed like a neighborhood favorite. I would go back for the corned beef hash. read more

First off, I need to talk about the service and staff because they are the hidden gems of this place. I'm a server myself so I can be a bit critical of the service I receive. I want to tip more than just one of them, that's how great they are! Frenchie, Mary, and Tina are fantastic and provide great laughs and convo to keep you entertained. The food is great, very homey. It feels like a diner without being a diner. We got the Pork Chop with mash potatoes and cornbread, the chili cheese dog with cheese added, and fries with coleslaw. My husband is a bit critical of coleslaw but he loved it! The chili was good, the hot dog was cooked nicely, and the fries were good. Only thing I'd say is that some things needed to be salted a smidge less (especially the turkey gravy). We sat at the counter and had a great time, so I recommend that if you want good convo. After exercising at the beach, we were hungry & decided to stop here for breakfast. The parking lot was crowded but we were able to find a spot around the corner. When we walked in, we were surprised at how packed it was. It looked like they jammed tables in to get as many people in there as they could but it still worked. I ordered the banana nut pancakes which came with your choice of bacon or sausage. I chose bacon and asked for it crispy. My husband got the Robert's 2 x 4 which is 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage & 2 pancakes and also ordered a side of hash browns. I thought that my breakfast was pretty good. At first glance, you only saw the bananas & walnuts on top of the pancake & It just looked like plain pancakes with bananas & walnuts on top but when you flipped them over, you could see that they were loaded with bananas & walnuts in the batter. When I walked in this place was very busy. The reason why is because the food is great. My wife had the eggs Benedict and I had the sausage gravy and biscuits with scrambled eggs. I love a good diner and growing up in NYC, I went to them often (although in Manhattan we referred to them as "coffee shops"). Robert's is a typical diner that I have been to a couple of times. Go there for breakfast and home style food. It is typical diner food, nothing fancy, but solid. The breakfast menu has some combo plates. Many of the breakfast entrees come with a beverage. My beverage, coffee, was excellent. My breakfast was adequate. The egg beater veggie omelet had lots of onions but was made with canned spinach and mushrooms. You might say it's too much to expect fresh vegetables in a diner omelet. Maybe, but I have seen it and yes, I recently had fresh veggies in an IHOP omelet! The grits were good but I have had better. It's a nice touch that you can order a biscuit instead of toast. I could not resist trying the biscuit and it was delicious. What is usually most important to me in a diner is service and turn around time. Let's face it, one is not coming to a place like this for fine dining, but to get in and out pretty quickly with some decent grub. When I went on a Saturday morning the place was slammed and it took about 45 minutes from the time I sat down until I got my food. The servers were hustling but it took a while for the food to come out of the kitchen. I would not come on a weekend morning if I was in a rush. I have been coming to this restaurant for decades. Have always felt the quality was worth the over priced menu. Not today, at all. The coffee was so watered down It didn't even taste like coffee. The veggie omelette had no flavor - tasted like steamed veggies and stale eggs. Two eggs with nothing else is $15. Everything is an up charge. Wanted to put feta in the veggie omelette - was quoted four dollars extra. And it's not even real feta. So today was the last day will be going to Roberts. I have been eating here for 20+ years and my father has been going since the 90s. This place is very popular amongst locals and is well-known by many. You don't want to miss this place for breakfast and lunch - it's the best breakfast & lunch food and service you will get in the area. The food is consistently GREAT and top-notch. From the breakfast, to the Greek Salad to the NY Strip Steak, everything on the menu is awesome. Not to mention some of the best cornbread I have ever had and tasty sides (stuffing, mac n cheese, fries, coleslaw, rotating vegetable). The menu is expansive with fair prices and large portions. There is something for everyone, and the food is always very fresh. It is really some of the best food in South Florida. It is so good that we sometimes eat lunch here and get something to go for dinner to eat later, and we see many others do the same. The food is very good - but the service is even better. Dawn, Debbie, Frenchie and Mary have worked there for as long as I can remember and are friendly faces that keep a number of us coming back each week. They are the best waitresses I have had at any restaurant ever and are true pros. I honestly don't think I've ever finished a drink without a a refill being proactively brought to the table first - and this place can be consistently busy during peak lunch hour. I am so disappointed by how badly the quality of this restaurant has gone downhill since new owners have taken over. The corned beef sandwich that I had today was dismal, to say the least. Hardly any corned beef, dry and chewy, and nothing like it used to be. And to pay $16.00 for it and a small a scoop of coleslaw was ridiculous. Also, it took a really long time to come out of the kitchen. The person next to me, who ordered two minutes before me, was already done with his meal and paying his bill before my sandwich even came out. The last time I was there I also noticed the decrease in portion and quanlity, but today qas worse. Not a good experience, and likely the last time I will go there, after being a loyal customer for almost 12 years. Very sad to see this happen to a community anchor of so many years. read more

After being acknowledged I had to wait several minutes to just pick up my order, pay and leave. Our office decided to order here for lunch. I have not eaten at this place for many years because it just lacks tasty food. I decided on the cheeseburger with grilled onions med rare. The phone order service was very good. Woman was knowledgeable on the menu and very attentive and nice. However the food was another story. Sadly this place just solidified my reason of not coming back. The burger was huge, too big for your mouth which okay, that's how Americans seem to roll but the taste just was not there if at all. The burger was more rare and I just could not finish it it turned me off. Bun was cold. The grilled onions were good and the cheddar on the meat was good. If only they would add some seasoning to the meat and cook it right it would have been awesome. The fries were fresh and pretty good. Service was fast. I can see why the gentleman in prior reviews , mentioned this place just simply CHOOSING to not acknowledge minorities and/or people of color. I came in with a clear mind, genuinely wanting to see what the buzz was about . I stood at the front cashier, stood, multiple waitresses, cashiers passing me for atleast 5 minutes easily. An older white gentleman stood behind me to pay for his check, in an attempt to get to him, one waitress reached for his check and card. I clearly made it apparent that's not how this works, someone can't just skip me to pay a bill yet no one had even acknowledged I'm standing here? My face said it all, I was dumbfounded the waitress literally just reached passed me, didn't say hello? Hi, how can I help you? Like nothing . When I asked "may I pick up my to go order" the lady snapped back as if how dare I ask about my order "well you're going to have to wait we have someone specifically for to go" .. ok then why isn't she at the TO GO register that I've been standing at all this time??? despite the fact no one had even greeted nor asked me whatsoever why I was clearly standing directly in front of the register for minutes on end. Lack of respect, lack of professionalism, lack of customer service. Honestly, the service was just so terrible I had to leave a review bc I don't want to believe the owner of this establishment is aware and allows this type of behavior. Diner or not . And the sad thing is I truly wish it wasn't a bad experience. We're in 2023, certain things just aren't acceptable anymore. Restaurants, without "Mc" or "Slam" at 6:00a, near Fort Lauderdale Airport, are few, and far between. Roberts is the best diner-at-dawn option. Lester's is too pie-and-partisan-propaganda for my AM. Crowd is blue collar and blood pressure collar, service is excellent, and parking is easy, but they're in a funky industrial strip mall that may have you miss the entrance on the first try. The food is solid, not astounding. The biscuits on the biscuits and gravy are hard, over-mixed. The coffee is like a soap opera actor, smooth, looks right, but weak, and without much substance. Robert's is a diner and family style restaurant with the classic types of dishes you would expect at a place like that. It is located near an industrial park and not too far from I-95 and the Fort Lauderdale Airport on Stirling Road. I had Ruben for lunch and it tasted exactly like it was supposed to. I am sure the breakfast meals, burgers and other sandwiches are equally as good The wait staff was friendly enough ...although some more than others. They are all on the older side and reminded me of the Al's Diner show. There is a red headed waitress here who is the best of the bunch... I would have been happy to have her wait on me exclusively. We have been going to this restaurant for years - it's been our go to place for breakfast on the weekends all during the Pandemic. We went today and they have removed almost all Covid19 Protocols. There is no social distancing - there seemed to be more tables than before the Pandemic. The tables were so close that there was little room to move around the restaurant. As it wasn't that crowded when we first got there it wasn't as noticeable. About half way through our meal as more people arrived, it became very uncomfortable and we decided to leave before we finished our meals. As I paid the bill at the register, I told the cashier we were leaving due to not feeling safe. She just shrugged her shoulders. We won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Surprisingly I have been coming here for at least a decade and I haven't reviewed it. Perhaps in a selfish moment I didn't want to share and leave it a secret. These days it is truly hard to find a great breakfast place. Sure I got my special occasion places but I'm talking day in and out good. That's a category in itself. So while running errands yesterday with hubby my mind went blank where to go and hubby suggested this place. Since it was late morning 10:30 on a Saturday morning plenty of parking out front and tables to chose from inside. Hubby even bumped into a local he's friends with. Service is great and once we were seated our drink order was immediately taken. Lots of choices so I thought I would try something new Lox,Onions,and Scrambled Eggs with a Toasted Garlic bagel with cream cheese. I must be missing my Mom in NJ. The food arrived quickly and was served hot and delicious. The combination of my breakfast was very well balanced not too much onion or Lox.
