Was working recently in the Davie, FL area and wanted to start the day off with a good hearty southern style breakfast. I came across Harvest Cafe. I arrived right as they were opening and was seated and served right away. I had a fresh orange juice, chicken fried steak with sausage gravy, two eggs, hash browns and a biscuit. The country fried steak was battered and fried to perfection and had a tasty sausage gravy. Hash browns were fried to the perfect crisp and it all mixed well with a couple over easy fried eggs. Our server I believe was the owner and she was very kind and provided exceptional service, the restaurant has the classic cafe vibe and the food was great. Stopped in to meet a friend for breakfast. The mall is under construction for improvements to the outside. The inside was large but needed an update which the owner mentioned they will be doing some improvements to in inside soon. My husband and I ordered two eggs, hash browns (which were cooked perfectly) and bacon with toast . Our friend ordered an omelette. Everything was tasty. The coffee was delicious and the waitress came around often to refill. Prices were fair and the Resturant had a home town feeling. Will definitely return. We got seated once we did it was pretty steady but not crazy busy since it was 8am... we were waiting about 10 mins to get our menu as soon as we did we looked for what we wanted the serve came back and asked us what we wanted we ordered everything we wanted to eat.. i got waffles sausage and egg and my partner got their special... just for our food to come 30 mins later and the food was cold ... certain items were burnt ... wasn't pleasant at all.. our waiter seems like she was the only one ... she forgot to bring me my chocolate milk after i was half way with my food. I was suprised by my partner for a lunch date today. Harvest Cafe was where he wanted to go. I'm not overly impressed with this establishment. It's rather small, old interior, honestly more depressing decor that reminded me of someone who just neglected to take down fall decorations. The service was very slow. We both ordered the Reubens and fries. The sandwiches were mediocre. It really was less than flavorful. Skimpy on the meat and sauerkraut as well as the fries that looked as though they were from Orida frozen bag. We seen the listed desserts on their white board so we decided to order cherry pie Ala mode and chocolate cream pie...server comes back saying.." you're not going to like this but we're out of those". Well my partner decided to order the apple pie and I passed as nothing sounded good at this point. The pie came and I actually laughed, it was small, crumbled and maybe 3 small slices of apples in it. We didn't complain, we were handed the check. Paid the bill and both decided definitely not a great decision made to come here. Obviously we won't return. If you're looking for basic less than average food and just looking to eat breakfast or lunch then this is ok. If you're looking for more flavorful and pleasant establishment keep on driving past here, otherwise you'll be disappointed. I give 2 stars. Harvest Café was surprisingly good. I had the breakfast sandwich and I had the egg sausage and toast and everything was really really good. A lot of flavor cook well done. It was really good. Not a service service is even better. The young lady made sure I was good. she mentioned everything was fine. She tried everything I had to get before I had to go. I feel so disrespected by this establishment. I ordered the 2-2-2 and the Canadian Bacon Egg Benedict. These people had the audacity to give us two RAW eggs. The Egg Benedict was absolutely DISGUSTING. The Hollandaise sauce was super thick and textured, the egg muffin was burnt and the potatoes were burnt but also hard and undercooked at the same time. The pancakes were basically raw and the sausage tasted old and spoiled. I usually try not to be hard on establishments and usually give them two tries before leaving a review. But the blatant disrespect to provide PAYING customers with two RAW eggs in a container is insane. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE. Absolutely disgusting. read more

Wanted to try this place near my house and I can honestly say it was disappointing.. we waited almost an hour for food and no one came to check up on us. I ordered the Daily Benedict with ham and it was average. I really love eating breakfast and it's hard to find somewhere locally that really appeals to the eye. However, they do have great breakfast and lunch selections with varying prices. I feel like even if you're short staffed as they keep mentioning to other customers, they should at least check up on us and say there is a bit of a wait time sorry for the delay. read more

Service today was spectacular as the place was mostly quiet. The food was just as good as it was the first time I visited. My corned beef hash was great, eggs cooked perfectly, and this time I tried the grits. The consistency was great. They don't season it so you can season it to YOUR liking. I grew up eating grits in both savory (butter/cheese) and sweet (cinnamon/sugar) applications so I appreciate that it's unseasoned and I can eat it how I want to. I took my son for breakfast because he wanted to try the cb hash which he loved. He also raved about the pancakes and bacon. If you're in the area, definitely stop by. I know daylight savings was a couple weeks ago but I really felt like I went back in time, more than an hour back lol It was a back in the day type feel, or a feeling of being in unfamiliar and different side of the world. Which is awesome!! When a place can change a vibe in an interesting and positive way, it's always a plus!! Coming here tho, everything took forever. Sitting, drinks, us waiting to order, etc, etc. I got the 8 oz flat iron steak with eggs for 12.49. Which isn't too crazy. I also tried the country Benedict with ham and the sausage. I asked for medium rare, and got rare (picture down below), hash browns were way over cooked (little hash) and the eggs were just eggs. My sisters meal was a bit better which was the Benedict. I just walked out after paying for a meal I didn't eat. Customer came in with a dog that was obviously not a service dog. Of course he sat at the booth behind me. Just got my meal and the dog comes up and starts sniffing my food. I'm like, what the hell. No way I was eating there. The owner apologized, then asked if I want it to go as she rings up my bill. I told her no and that I would not be back. She said well it wasn't our fault. If you have a REAL service dog I get it. The rest of you need to leave your pets at home. read more

We had been talking about trying this place for a while and we finally went. We were seated quickly by a very polite host and asked for our drink order. They were brought quickly and our waiter came right after. He was very nice and friendly. He waited patiently as we looked over the rather large menu. All their offerings seemed very down home and like something you'd find in a small town dinner. I was excited. However, I was disappointed. The western omelette didn't have cheese in it. If it did I couldn't tell. It was beautiful with all different colored peppers and tomatoes. But it was very bland. I kept putting salt and pepper on it and it just didn't get better. I had asked for my home fries to be extra crispy and they weren't. The coffee was watered down. The biscuits and gravy were cold upon arrival. However the French toast was good. That saved our meal for us. The decor was very cute, like visiting your Grammys house on the farm. The staff was polite and the restaurant was clean. A two star review might be a bit harsh. However, if I was asked to recommend a diner in the area, this would not be the place. It is certainly cheap! Four of us ate breakfast here for $28 which is a lot less than it usually costs. Sometimes though, it is just worth it to pay for quality. First of all, the place looks really sad and dingy. I really did not find it to be a pleasant atmosphere to eat in. Service was adequate. It took a little while for us to be acknowledged, but once we put our orders in the food came out rather quickly. My Tuna Pita was adequate. If you order it make sure you like onions as it was full of them! My husband's omelet was on the smaller side and could have used more cheese. 11 year old's waffle was weak. It did not taste freshly made and they did not offer any toppings to go on it. I would say stay away unless you want a really cheap diner. Otherwise there are so many other better options in the area: Flashback, Tower, Blue Moon. They all are more expensive but have much more extensive menus, seem much cleaner, and have tastier and better quality food. read more

I'm a little surprised by the 1-2 star ratings as this restaurant has been here for years and you won't make it with poor service or quality. Super friendly staff that makes you feel like family. I always order the same, French toast two eggs sunny side up crispy bacon and a side of white toast! the coffee is free with purchase of meal. The ladies employed in the cafe are kindhearted, just the type of vibe you'd assume you'd get from Homestyle/comfort cookin'. The place barely ever has a long food wait, it's just the all around best. However, I wouldn't recommend going if you're more into the upscale, high-end life. Harvest Cafe is a favorite amongst my family, however after last week, I'm not sure why. Not to say that the food is awful but its just always a little lack luster, especially after this last visit. As a family we usually celebrate birthdays here over some old fashion breakfast. This time around it was my brother's birthday and as the birthday boy, he ordered the manly-est meal he could find- The Country Fried Steak. Sadly, he was highly disappointed. He kept mentioning how the gravy had a gritty texture, almost as if they didn't cook out the flour all the way. The texture of the steak was also off according to my brother. He described it as "chewy & cardboard stiff" So in other words a huge overcooked mess. Thumbs down for that. Personally my breakfast was also off by a lot. I ordered the 222 special with sausage links and a biscuit. I'm not 100 percent sure by I'm almost certain I was served spoiled sausages. The casing was nice and crispy but the after taste they had was extremely sour and really off putting. I felt sick after my first bite so I only ate half of one and left the rest. My biscuit was a let down too. It was definitely hard, kinda like day old bread. I tried to salvage it by adding lots of butter and jelly but it was no help. Just a hard, crumbly mess topped with sticky jelly. I hate to write a review like this when its a sweet mom & pop place, with quality service but the quality of the food varies too much. I never know if I'm going to enjoy my meal. Even though its a family favorite, I always end up unhappy. Some improvements to the food could make a huge difference. read more
