I needed to transport a non-running car I recently bought from Round Rock to south Austin, which was a 30 mile distance. I know towing is somewhat expensive if you don't have towing insurance, but most of the major towing companies in the area had absolutely ridiculously high tow fees for a 30 mile tow. I found Roberts Towing and Robert quoted me a very reasonable price for the tow. About 40% less than the major tow companies. After I called to schedule the tow, Robert arrived about an hour later and quickly loaded my car on his rollback tow truck. This was the fastest car loading I had ever seen! He quickly hauled the car to its destination, and quickly unloaded the car. And, doing all of this before payment was made.. This is quick "no non-sense" towing at a very reasonable price. These guys are awesome!!! They said they would be there in 35 minutes max and showed up in about 12 minutes. They got my car onto the truck without any damage and also gave me a ride to the dealer along with the car. They were friendly and made an extremely difficult day less terrible. These guys are really first rate. I have Roadside Assistance through AmEx, and when I called to get a tow today I was initially assigned to another service -- which never showed up. Totally frustrated, I called AmEx and they called Roberts Towing. The tow truck driver go to me in less than 30 minutes, got the car up on the flat-bed tow truck in about 3 minutes, and took me and my car to my mechanic. Broke down outside of Austin in the middle of a Sunday. Called USAA and they told me that Robert's Towing would be there in 60 minutes. Both USAA and Robert from Robert's Towing called to check on me and verify the ETA. Sure enough... 60 minutes almost to the second, up drives Robert. VERY professional. Neat, courteous, clean truck. He got my little MINI on the flatbed in no time and hauled me and my car up to the dealership. He knew right where to drop the car off, and my out of pocket for the towing was quite reasonable, too. I've used towing services that were a bit frightening to a lone woman. Robert was great and I felt comfortable with him immediately. It's not always easy to feel safe as a woman when your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere! But then, I don't think USAA would use just any towing service so that's a vote of confidence, too! Don't be fooled by the comparatively small size of this business. This guy is an ace! I lost my truck keys and needed a tow into the dealership. They gave me a complimentary vehicle unlock just to make sure I didn't lock my keys inside. No keys to be found, there was a huge problem... My steering column was locked with the wheels turning left. How can that be towed?? Roberts towing said "no problem", as if they do this every day. With exceptional accuracy and magnificence, the driver lowed the flat bed to 1 inch above the ground, and drove his truck in reverse hard right while pulling my truck up the bed, to compensate for my hard left steering lock. You had to see it! This guy was good! I was originally concerned about hiring a towing company because my truck is my baby, and I won't tolerate Knicks and scratches. No worries here! I'll be trusting Roberts Towing if I need a tow in the future. Oh.... And did I mention.... Their prices are below market! read more

Requested towing around 11:30 CST Saturday, April 26 and was told the ETA would be 2:58pm which was not a problem as I made arrangements to leave vehicle unattended and have towed to local service center. Around 6:30pm, my wife began to receive multiple calls and texts from Robert's towing. We were in the middle of a wedding ceremony, so we returned the calls/texts promptly after the vows were spoken. The driver was quite rude, patronizing and condescending to my wife. Apparently, there had been miscommunication between roadside assistance and Robert's Towing as to the exact location of the vehicle, which vehicle (multiple on policy) and location of the key. After two exchanges between my wife and the driver, I took over the communication. The driver spoke to me in the same manner and when I pointed out that I would not be spoken to that way, he informed me (using vulgar language) that he did not have to tow my vehicle and hung up on me. I spoke to his dispatcher (who initially defended his driver and was also rude to me) to complain about the exchange. Once the dispatcher understood what really happened, he became helpful and agreed to call roadside assistance to dispatch another towing company as I had become uncomfortable with my exchanges with Roberts and did not want them to take possession of my vehicle. I fully understand that towing companies have the upper hand - as the driver pointed out, they don't have to tow your vehicle and, if they do, you are at their mercy to get it back. But to treat your customers with the type of contempt and language that we observed is completely unprofessional and needs to be highlighted to others thinking of using Robert's. There are plenty of other towing companies out there, use one of them or risk being treated like my wife and I were. read more
