    Sedaris Hardwood Floors

Our experience with Sedaris Wood Flooring was without a doubt, one of the best experiences we have…read morehad with any contractor since moving to Wake Forest nearly 12 years ago. Bertin Gomez was our initial contact and made a personable and favorable first impression that lasted throughout the flooring installation. He checked in daily and more than met our expectations down to every detail. He did all of this with professional courtesy and a smile. His crews were a reflection of him...all courteous and conscientious workers right down to final cleanup. The new hardwood floor is beautiful. We would highly recommend Sedaris to anyone who needs new hardwood floors installed to perfection and free from worry and hassles!

If I had not spoken to former customers, I would have passed this business by. Things to note: - The communication, payments and scheduling were disjointed and I do agree with Crystal W., the previous poster, on this point. Based on my experience, I would recommend that this company hire an office manager or some type of scheduling/accounting assistant to manage scheduling and billing. Paul appears to manage it all himself and communicates mostly through texts after 9pm, though it is possible to get him on the phone during the day. - Have Paul come out and do the consultation and have everything ready and prepared for your estimate 3 months in advance when you want to get on the schedule-the business is busy and you'll likely need some lead time before getting on the schedule. - For our experience, we paid 50% for the flooring and then the remaining 50% a couple of days before installation. This was done directly with the flooring vendor (not Sedaris); the Sedaris crew will pick up the flooring directly from the vendor prior to installation - Sedaris installation crew were phenomenal-I give them 5 stars. They worked hard, were polite, and made sure everything was clean when they left. - We had one hiccup where the measurements that Sedaris did at our original consultation for our pricing fell short and didn't account for enough flooring-1 or 2 additional boxes of flooring were needed in the laundry area. In the end, Sedaris agreed to pay for the additional flooring and we paid for the additional labor. We felt that this was a fair arrangement and were happy with how that issue was resolved. - After the installation and final payments, we had a question about cleaning some paint stains in the floor (done by separate vendor) and Paul was prompt in giving some helpful tips-I appreciated his helpfulness even after our official business was over. Despite some of the communication challenges with scheduling and billing, if we were to get our floors done again, we'd hire Sedaris. We love our floors.

Wakefield Flooring - Broken uneven flooring

James will likely reply to this with a he said she said sort of shaming, but this next problem is indefensible: now our flooring is breaking and they won't respond to me when I've tried to contact them. I think it's a manufacturer error, but it could be installation. I know my daughter's motorized wheelchair is part of the wear, but they knew we needed something that could handle that. The LVP boards are lifting and the corners breaking. It's troubling that they won't stand by their work or help facilitate communication with the manufacturer. (Also, if anyone knows how to get in touch with Nuvelle flooring, who made our LVP, I'd appreciate it!) ((I do see James likes to post personal emails to make himself look innocent here. If you saw all of our emails and knew that they cleared us to move items back into the house before they were completely done with the job, whatever he posts out of context in response to this is carefully selected to make himself look good. The real question for him is "have you responded to Shannon about the damage and pictures she has sent you?" He hasn't.))

The company was great working with us by phone, email, and coming to the house to assess things for the project! After installation and payment, though, communications were slow and things weren't addressed to correct problems. Carpet has unlevel ragged seams, gouges, puckers, and missing padding. Downstairs planks squeak, snap, and sound hollow with ridges and cracks appearing right away and getting worse. Pictures and measurements shared with the manufacturer and Molina (who talked with them) determined that the sub floor is the reason for the floor failure. Manufacturer required guidelines stated on the store contract were not followed. The solution is to pull up the planks, flatten the concrete sub floor, and install new planks. Unfortunately, Molina wouldn't do that. Our 25 year manufacturer wear warranty is voided. We're upset asbestos tiles (tested positive) and vinyl sheet flooring to remain were pulled up - putting our health at risk. After four months of asking for things to be made right, we asked for a refund. A conditional refund offered would let Molina take the defective flooring and have us promise to not speak of our experience (see the CRFA at the FTC site about this). We feel that people should know about our experience. We can't stand walking on the floor and seeing it get worse and worse. We will have to go to a different company to get replacement flooring at our expense. We would not recommend Molina.

The job was completed professionally and efficiently. The second time service is to replace a worn down carpet in a small room. I really appreciate when the business is getting the job done correctly no matter how big or how small it is!

He came on a Wednesday and as he was leaving he told me that he'd probably have the estimate to me later that day or the next day. I followed up with him on Friday since I had t received anything and he said he was down a guy and would send me an estimate on Saturday which was his catch up day. Totally fine. I didn't mind that. What I do mind is never hearing from him again. No quote. No follow up email. Nothing. I didn't bother checking in with him again because I don't want to beg for someone's business. I would suggest to this man and company to accept new clients if you are able to accommodate them in a timely manner. If not, book further out and set realistic expectations. Overall not a great experience and it started out so great that I was hopeful.
