Finally popped in to check out their zombies. As a proud Mt. Diablo Unified School District graduate, cheese zombies hold a special place in my heart (and stomach). If you have no idea what I'm talking about, consult Google before proceeding. They have basic coffee drinks and a nice selection of (as the name suggests) zombies. I couldn't resist the breakfast zombie with sausage, bacon, egg, and cheese. Our friend also got that and my honey got the sausage and pepper jack cheese zombie. The breakfast zombie was delicious, although mine was oozing cheese and starting to fall apart--probably because it maybe had a bit too much filling. (I know!) My honey's held together much better, and he said that even though he didn't get much of the pepperjack taste, it was still one of the best zombies he's had. Service was friendly and fast. So, if you went to school in the Mount Diablo Unified School District, you should have at least at one point of your schooling had a "Cheese Zombie" And if you didn't go to school in the MDUSD, and you're curious what a "Cheese Zombie" is, I'll explain what it is. A "Cheese Zombie" is pretty much a "Chinese Pork Bun" but instead of pork, it's cheese in it's place. There you have it. And the legendary product is a creation from a former long time MDUSD cafeteria worker name "Patty" and now from what I hear from sources, "Rob Zombies" is a continuation of family tradition, as one of her kiddos run this operation. Like I said, this is from sources, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong later on. But for now, let me explain why my feeling of nostalgia was kinda short lived. "Robs Zombies" Location - Concord, Ca Food/Drink - Cheese Zombie, Ham & Cheese Zombie, Orange Juice Price - $13.17 (with tax) Robs Zombies: I was delighted to hear about the opening of this establishment after seeing a business highlight for them on "IG" and then shortly after here on "Yelp". I remember middle school was the first time I had a "Cheese Zombie" and I feel in love with them. I use to save money to buy at them throughout my school week. It was a comfort food of sorts and my school week just didn't feel complete unless I had one of these every day lol. I heard that "Patty" had opened up a store front in Concord, but due to my work schedule, I still haven't been able to make it to there. But "Robs Zombies" is literally right down the street from where I work. So it was a win for me, and I made up my mind to stop in before work one day, and here is what I got.. Classic Cheese Zombie $3.75 - This is the cheese bun that started the love affair for a lot of people. It's simple, Buttered Bread Bun stuffed with Cheese. The one I had on this visit was just..okay though. The bun was a little more baked than I would of liked so it was soft but not as soft as I remembered them being as a youngster. The cheese was kinda skimpy, I remembered them having a slightly gooey cheesy goodness that this one didn't really capture. Making the experience, familiar, but not totally over the moon for me. Ham & Cheese Zombie $5.75 - Same concept as the "Classic Cheese Zombie" but with ham added. This one worked a little more for me, the ham added to the overall taste, but it still lacked the right amount of cheese for me but the bun was a little more what I could remember from the texture and softness of what I use to crave as a youngster and it was decent. Overall: I did also get an Orange Juice (Florida's Natural) which was $3.67 and it rounded off a decent morning snack so to speak. The service was kinda dull I would have to admit, a business that just opened during the epidemic you would think would have a bit more enthusiasm for their customer base, at least I got my food. I liked them, I recommend them, I just don't see myself going to very often as doughnut shops you could kinda get a bit more for the money. I don't mind the pricing as things have gone up, but service and quality is key and that is something that is important to me when I visit an establishment. They are also a tap room so if you want to stop by and enjoy a craft beer they have some on deck with patio and limited indoor seating for the time being. "Robs Zombies" a cool concept overall for a classic product. read more

Zombies ‍ ‍!!! Cheesy pillows of deliciousness!! Usually go to Patty's but decided to give Rob's Zombies a try. We were not let down. They were full of fresh ingredients and the bun part was softer and a nice texture on the outside. The also serve local beers and have a coffee bar, too. So happy Rob keeps hours on the Lord's day. Nothing like starting a Sunday with cheesy bliss. Today we ordered a Zombie quad including a Breakfast Zombie, Zombie Popper, Sausage and Pepper Jack Zombie, and a Hot Link Zombie. Always fresh and always hot. My favorite is the Zombie Popper which is just like it sounds jalapeño, bacon, cheddar and cream cheese. Prices are reasonable ($6-$7) and Iappreciate the variety here as it is slightly different than Patty's. We have to switch off between the two locations. read more

So much more than Zombies! I've been getting their ham and cheese zombies almost since they opened. Always great taste and value. Today I came in and they were sold out of ham and cheese but SURPRISE! they also had pizza and pastrami zombies. Oh yes please! I also got a caramel macchiato and it's delicious!! These zombies are bangin!! Have tried the original cheese and the ham and cheese. Both are amazing and nostalgic. They have craft beer too!!

Breakfast pastries are absolutely incredible. I have eight here multiple times and it is unreal how great they taste.

They open early! So if you're a commuter you can grab an go. All zombies are premade. They are super convenient and tasty. Service is always good in the mornings when I go. The decor is awesome. read more

Customer service is excellent!! however the location is good but the restaurant inside itself gives you a feeling that it's under construction and it's uninviting. chairs turned upside down during business and electrical cords.... I tried my first cheese zombie & I'm hooked. It reminds of of the grilled cheese sandwiches we had as kids but not as greasy. The caramel macchiato was perfect. Located right off the freeway in a decent sized space. A lot of parking. Hot link - nice spice to the hot link and hot ratio of cheese, link and bread. Has meaty American cheese and link without any casing. Not super salty and is super tasty. 10/10 Ham and cheese - again, good ratio of the inside and not too salty. Uses American cheese. 10/10 Sausage and cheese - I'd pass on this. It's pepper Jack cheese and doesn't have a strong cheesy taste. The sausage is also not very flavorful. 2/10 Zombie popper - this had a lot going on. Cheddar cheese? Cream cheese, jalapeño and bacon. It was really good but need a little more bacon. Ours was a little weird because the cream cheese was only on one side. I almost thought it was missing and when i got too it, there was too much of it. I'd get again tho. 8/10 Apple pie - this was a lot better than i was expecting. Not super sweet, nice lil glaze on top and a good ratio of filling. My kids practice soccer at Tesoro. I have driven by many times and finally stopped in today for a beer and snack. I am so glad I did. Service was great, friendly and hospitable. There was only one zombie left (pastrami with Swiss) it was amazing. Served hot, seasoned pastrami and gooey cheese. Decent beer selection. I was sad that there weren't more people and sandwiches but I will be back! Def a hidden gem and anyone near the Tesoro fields needs to stop in and give them a try. Located near an offramp and an on ramp of the freeway over by the Solano drive-ins in Concord, this place was a great find. When I went through school we had cheese zombies so this was a nice visit to my past. I walked in and the two ladies there were still busy working, but very attentive at the same time. Without missing a beat, they communicated to each other which zombies they had available. I wanted to try the breakfast one which they were out of at the time, but it's the afternoon so I didn't really mind so much. I got the original cheese zombie. It was $3.75. The bread was GREAT! I have found that the bread surrounding the cheese can sometimes be very yeasty. This was not. Also, I got cheese in just about every bite. I also noticed that they offer chocolate chip cookies. The cookies are as big as an adult's face. Lol. I'm a baker and I also used to work at a place that served LOTS of cookies so I got one to try it. Their price for one is $2.50. Not bad at all for a cookie that size. It's a soft cookie but doesn't have too many chocolate chips or try too hard. On the outside it says they are also a tap house and offer coffee. I didn't have enough time to really check out the drinks. I enjoy coffee, but also chose not to just stand around as I saw more customers coming in as my food was being rung up. Overall, DEFINITELY worth checking out. I called to find out the hours. Above I believe it says they're open until 10, but on Google and from the employee, it seems as though they close at 8 tonight. A great foodie experience! My husband and I had both the cheese zombie and ham & cheese zombie.They were like a pocket full of goodness! Yum!!! Just simple throwback comfort food! I thought the cheese was the best. Great balance of cheese and bread. The ham and cheese was just as delicious...but the ham was a little on the salty side...but if you're ok with that, it's not overwhelming...just if given a choice the cheese was more to my liking. The staff are fast and friendly!! We went on a cars & coffee weekend and the owner greeted us made us feel welcomed and excited to be there! Outdoor seating was available, so we were able to bring our dog with us to enjoy the morning. I had a sugar free toasted marshmallow oatmilk latte. Very yummy!! This itself is worth a trip back!! Went to school here, moved away for a hundred years, back now and saw Rob's. Stopped in with family to see if it was the same zombie I had in Jr. High and High school. The cheese was good but the bread just wasn't "fluffy" as I remembered it. Maybe because it was not freshly made and it was in a foil pouch. If you went to the school in the area and want a blast of nostalgia this is the spot. I picked up a Ham and cheese, and regular cheese. Both hit the spot my cheese one had a ton of cheese. I didn't look but if they don't they need to sell Doritos so you can stuff your Zombie for some added crunch and extra cheesy flavor. read more

Been here twice. Love the ham and cheese, cheese and pizza roll. They are right off / on the highway 4 free and better access than the other zombie shop in concord. (Both are great spots and equally good, but bonus points for not having to go in town 15-20 minutes and being near a freeway exit).
