We visited Rocca Cafe & Lounge for a family brunch the day before Mother's Day. The food was genuinely excellent, and the waterfront view was beautiful. Every dish we received was very good, which makes this review even more disappointing to write. Unfortunately, the service experience completely overshadowed the meal. Everyone at our table received their food except for my mother. After waiting quite a while, we were repeatedly told "just another second, the kitchen is busy," despite the restaurant being only about half occupied. After roughly 20 minutes, I asked to speak with a manager and was told none was available. Eventually, our waiter admitted that he had simply forgotten to place her order. Mistakes happen -- restaurants are busy and nobody expects perfection. What upset us was the dishonesty and lack of transparency. Had we been told the truth from the beginning, we would have understood and moved on. Instead, we spent a large portion of brunch waiting while being misled about what was happening. To their credit, they did comp my mother's entrée, which was appreciated. The other issue that left a bad impression was the billing structure. An 18% "service charge" was automatically added to the bill, but the receipt specifically states that this charge is not a gratuity for the staff, while still encouraging additional tipping. That feels extremely misleading. Administrative costs should already be reflected in menu pricing -- adding a mandatory fee that does not go to staff while also prompting customers to tip on top of it creates a very uncomfortable experience. It's unfortunate because the food and location really are good, but between the poor handling of the service mistake and the confusing fee structure, I won't be returning and felt others should be aware before dining here. read more

We were going to smoke hookah and wanted to sit in the back. The hostess wrote down my name and number and said they would contact me soon as a table is clearing up. I waited and no update 50 minutes later. I went to speak with the hostess and there were 3 of them at this point and there was one in particular which was very rude. Another couple walked out of the restaurant as I was walking in and they were visibly upset saying the hostess was "rude and disgusting towards them". At the end of my interaction with her, I had come to a similar conclusion. She was fairly light skin with light brown/ginger hair and in a black outfit. There were two Asian girls with her who were fairly helpful. But the main one in particular was very condescending for someone that works in the hospitality industry. She lacked manners and displayed the inability to handle inquires/guest services efficiently. After waiting an hour she told me, in no way possible will I be able to get a table in the back tonight. Which was fine.. but if that's the case why make me wait almost an hour to tell/seat me ? We sat down at the tablet given to us and I asked to speak with the manager. Not surprised, she didn't comply with that request. The hookah was good. We enjoyed dessert. I guess they stopped putting salt in their rice as well so the entrees wasn't enjoyable as usual. Over all experience and night was tainted but the rude hostess. Thankfully my friends and I were able to laugh it off and enjoy the night. For our apps we got bruschetta with the yogurt dip. Delicious. Once our mains came, we dug in. Food was so good and flavorful. It took a while for it all to come, but I think that's part of the experience. You sit back, relax in the chair, have some drinks and smoke if you'd like. We had the Mediterranean appetizer with hummus, eggplant, babaghanoush, Lebni with this wonderful Turkish bread. That to me was a meal in itself! Good vibes all around at this lounge! Decided to celebrate my birthday here with a party of 11 altogether on a Saturday night at 7PM. On weekends, they tell you that you can only reserve it for 2 hours. I had to put down a $100 deposit to reserve a table, which is very reasonable. I chose a table near the outside dining area of the restaurant overlooking the water. I love how they're able to enclose it in case it rains. We were able to get seated promptly and they were very understanding towards some people being late in my group. We ordered a bunch of foods to share -- chicken shish kebab, fried calamari, falafel plate, babaghanoush, lebni, mixed appetizer, etc. All the food were very fresh and we absolutely loved the unlimited bread they give you with the dipping sauces. The bread was soft and just perfect! The portion sizes are quite large and I took some of my entree to go. You can definitely do family style with your group here. I loved how there was live music playing! There was a guy playing the saxophone and he was great. What made the night better was when the waiters/waitresses all came out with sparklers when they brought out my cake. The service was wonderful, the waiters were extremely patient with my big group and were not too strict on the time limit. Didn't get to hookah but I've heard great things about it from others. You're able to hookah right alongside your table. If you don't like people smoking inside the restaurant, this place probably isn't for you. At this time, the front of the building is completely under construction so it looks a little run down from all of the wood on the ground. However after you enter, you are immediately greeted and welcomed. Once you're seated, the waiter is attentive and the staff are swift. I am in love with the way they operate this place; it looks like there are 2 head waiters and then staff underneath them that immediately start serving bread, water, appetizers, etc... This was my first time going so I did not expect their portions to be so large. All of the salads were shareable, the meat and chicken kabobs were shareable and they have the freshest bread. I've been to Rocca a lot over the years but definitely have stopped more recently as the prices have only increased and the hookah isn't really the best. They definitely need to get metal tops for their hookahs and I just noticed recently that it says "each hookah is one per person" which I'm not sure what that even means? Their vibe is nice, especially when you sit by the water and the food is good but the prices can be confusing. The biggest shock for me was $7 cappuccino. $7 for a cappuccino is overpriced and not sure how I felt about it. I would say give it a try if you're looking for a new restaurant but definitely know that you'll probably spend more than expected and will have mediocre hookah. read more
