I have lived in San Clemente a very long time and while I like most of the restaurants I have to say that Roccos is the true gem of the city. It has a great menu, very personal service, superb food and just a wonderful atmosphere. The wine selection is broad and the waiters and bartender know what they are pouring and can give you great advice. The specials are always worth trying and despite many visits and many recommendations I do not know one person who was disappointed and not thankful for the tip. My only reservation about writing this review is that it is a place I love to think is a local secret that should remain that way. read more

We first discovered Rocco's about a1 1/2 years ago and frequently dine there as the cook/owner and wife and staff are great as is the food,wine. Often light entertainment is provided. The tables are few, so make reservations or you can eat at the bar which we also do often when walking in without reservations. Went here a few weeks back. I have been meaning to stop by but have been so busy.. The food is so good and the people that own this place as well as the employees are so great. For years, Laguna was the Place to meet in the middle with friends from San Diego, until we discovered Rocco's. Four times now and each one just as good as the previous. Excellent food, a quiet atmosphere, attentive service, and a great location. With all the other options in San Clemente, I've been wanting to explore other options; however, when it comes time to book that next reservation, I can't seem to pull the trigger. This our second time at Rocco's. Both times have been very pleasurable.. It is so nice to have server with knowledge and a smile. I love the atmosphere , very relaxing and not real loud.. It is hard to find good restaurants in South Orange County. I had the scrumptious Sea bass and shared tapas with hubby and friends. Great fun place to go in San Clemente. read more

Absolutely the WORST experience that I have ever had at a restaurant. Where do I begin to share my thoughts? My family somehow ended up here for my Mom's 72nd Birthday dinner. Kind of a special evening, right? My sister made reservations and had a "private" table (end up being next to the restrooms and a major thoroughfare). We observed (1) waitress and (1) bartender taking care of all the customers. After we sat down it took about (30) minutes for the bartender who was doubling as a waiter to approach our table and take drink/appetizer orders. While waiting we were contemplating heading to Nick's on Del Mar St., which in retrospect we should have headed for the door. After various members of my family got up twice to find a waiter to take our dinner order, it took a good hour for all of the food to finally arrive at the table. Keep in mind the dinner plates were not delivered at the same times, we had a space of (20 minutes) before my Mom's dinner arrived. The reason that most restaurants fail is due to crappy customer service, lack of organization and taking their customers for granite. I hope this is a wake up call for the owners of this establishment, because I predict they will be out of business in the next (12-24) months or by the end of their lease...which ever comes first. My wife had the pumpkin ravioli. It was hard around the edges and tasted like it had been frozen too long. My son had spaghetti and meatball. The meatball tasted "odd" like it had a lot of filler instead of meat. My younger son had chicken tenders off the kids menu which tasted like it was frozen out of a box. I had the veal saltambocca which was essentially folded over veal Marsala; very hard to find any evidence of prosciutto in substance or flavor. The potatoes didn't seem real. Instant? Honestly, for an $82 meal, they really skimp on quality of ingredients. The service was very attentive, although the wine by the glass my wife ordered seemed a bit off and we mentioned it, and they came back and told us no, it was fine! Anyway, we won't be going back. There are too many other options that are good. read more

OMG!!!!!!!! My husband and I are regulars at Rocco's. We instantly fell in love with this place, not only is the food to die for but the wait staff is amazing (our favorite is Daniell, she's a total gem). This is a small and very popular restaurant, make sure to call in reservations! I have to say we've tried everything on their menu and have never been disappointed. The Ravioli con Fungi has to be my favorite meatless dish, the lamb and ropa vieja are tied for my favorite meat dish. The prices are VERY reasonable as well. I promise if you dine at Rocco's you will not be disappointed. If you've seen "Breakfast at Tiffany's" then you'll understand what I mean when I say Rocco's is my Tiffany's :) read more

Food is really good, but obnoxious sports watching bar crowd make the restaurant dining far less enjoyable. I've been there twice and won't go back. Would recommend that the owner remove the TV and let the bar crowd talk like humans are supposed to do. read more

1st time visit. the place is quaint but a little small, very few tables. the food was good. because of that you are by the bar and kitchen, so can be very loud in there. but overall an enjoyable experience. read more
