After a filling dinner nearby, we stopped at the renovated Roche Brothers for a few supplies. The store is smaller by suburban standards (much narrower aisles) and contains an edited selection of groceries. We could still find at least 8 apple varieties, enough for the most picky of apple connoisseurs or those looking for the right apples to fill the perfect apple pie. The deli selection was robust; I love the nutrition information labels. On the day of our visit, ice cream was on sale so most of us picked up our favorite pints because when we are talking about Ben and Jerry's, everyone wants their own. A very, very overpriced place. I went to a dental office nearby, so I swung by this grocery store and was surprised. Everything--from veggies and meat to other ingredients--was at least 20% more expensive than other grocery stores. Compared to Star Market, H Mart, and Whole Foods Market, I don't see how it's worth the price. Definitely not revisiting. read more

Have shopped in Sudbury Farm and Roche brothers for more than 35 years and was always very satisfied. However since now nowned by new owner I will not shop there any longer. Fresh fruits and vegtablesare either too hard d too or too mushy and bad even though I examined them ckise closely before purchasing. Twice I have received chicken breasts which were discolored abs recently I received beef sliders which were not red but turning brown from the butcher counters. . prepares foods are unhealthy . Rece returned a turkey wrap which was drenched with mayonaise and container and wrap werevery wet. the staff could care ltess about assisting people with large orders to their cars etc. Many top quality brands are no longer carried. Wgeb I do my grocery shopping my food isi my refrigerator within 15 mins. a Riche brothers has always been my go- to market but no longer is it. read more

I thought a better hot foods area was planned... not as good as Sudbury Farms hot foods... deli now limited , Layout causes intersections of people in the way or blocking aisle travel... higher frozen and dairy foods cases was smart as adds more products . The Roche Brothers on Chestnut St is small, overpriced, and sells old meat. The hamburger was bought for my dog and after one burger she got sick and the meat immediately turned a weird color. It should be a one star review but it's in the neighborhood so I'd like them to succeed. Please lower your prices and raise your standards. read more

I think this location is good if you are at this end of Needham (and the Commuter Rail is right across the street), just need a couple of things, and want to be in and out without making a whole afternoon of being in the store. Please do everyone a favor and don't bring your 4 kids in here and let them run around - there is no room. Actually, please don't do that ANYWHERE. Just run in, grab your bread, Diet Coke and ice cream, and be done with it. The Sudbury Farms down the road is much larger, but the parking lot is a nightmare, and God help you if you are trying to get out of the lot and stuck behind someone afraid to take a left on Highland Ave. read more

I do agree with one of the other reviews that it can be very inconvenient sometimes to only be able to choose from Sudbury Farms or Roche Bros in the Town of Needham. It would definitely be nice to have an addition of either Shaw's, Star Market, or Stop&Shop to add at least some sort of cheaper option. What's so inconvenient about this Roche Bros is that it's super small and doesn't allow for large selection by any means. It's cramped and regularly has high prices throughout. Sure, every week they typically have a "killer deal", one that is less than everywhere else, but typically it's not worth me coming here anyway. Staff seem friendly enough and the service is typically very good. It's still nice that they actually have baggers for every register and that those baggers wheel out the carts for the customers, but for me at least, that does not accompany for the high prices and inconvenience of being able to purchase everything that I intend. Sudbury Farms is the best option for a full grocery store in Needham (and of course Trader Joe's is a fabulous option as well.... unfortunately, there is no way to do a complete and full grocery shopping there though), but this place could surely be worse. It is nice that it's always pretty clean and well stocked. For the space that they do have, they surely use it well. Overall, Roche Bros in Needham is ok. For the bigger shoppings though (or for better savings) go to Sudbury Farms, the Westwood Roche Bros... or better yet, Stop&Shop.... always get more for my money there! 3 stars. read more

They are expensive and overpriced, Customer service can be good. They have discontinued their 2 Liter Selters, lem/lime, plain etc and it is one reason we always go here, it is a poplular item for a very very long time. Now Sudbury Farms aka Roche discontinued it. Stop this, you are already too highly priced and you have replaced it with 1 liter bottles that are double the price of the 2 liter. STOP doing this. You are losing customers read more

Perhaps I'm just used to the size of stores like Shaw's and Stop & Shop, but Roche Bros leaves quite a bit to be desired; the entire store is about the size of most super market's meat department. Finding a parking spot isn't a problem, but the amount of elderly and handicap roaming the lot makes it a nightmare to get in and out of. While the selection isn't terrible, they definitely lack variety and many, if not all, speciality items. Prices are higher then you'll find elsewhere, which they seem to get away with due to their location. Bakery is really sub-par, and occupies a single free standing cart most times. They use very funky and small carriages, and lanes have no conveyer belt, only a small shelf. Perhaps one of the only redeeming qualities of the store is the fact that they will, unless you request otherwise, carry your groceries out to your car for you. It's a nice gesture, which I rarely take advantage of myself, but could see coming in useful for a various people. You could definitely shop for a house or meal here, although you may be better off price wise at the Trader Joes a few miles down the road and selection / quality wise at the Whole Foods a bit further down. read more

This store is small but has a great selection. The produce is high-quality, and the cheese, deli, and meats are varied and generally exceptional. The store is well staffed with friendly people, which is a rarity in my experience. The prices are a bit high, but I can get in and out with a whole week of groceries in 20 minutes, so convenience makes it worth it for me. read more

This grocery store is near my parents' place and so I'm pretty familiar with it. The workers are very friendly and are great about answering questions and restocking and stuff like that. My family has only really had one issue with their staff, but that was taken care of very quickly. My family has also utilized the store for catering and were pleased with the food. This is a smaller grocery store and is more reasonably priced than the "ritzier" Sudbury Farms down the street. The selection is still good, but you won't pay the luxury price. The store is clean and well-stocked. The produce is decent even in the winter. Can't complain too much about that! read more

Let me just say I am a loyal shopper to Roche Bro and Sudbury Farms.-but living in Newton, this store is the closest when I need to grab a few things. I wish they would make a larger store like Wellesley or Sudbury here in the Needham or Newton location. The store is cramped and for the most part the customer service is ok. They always seem a little short staffed. The bakery was really the only complaint-stale baked goods. We purchased a cake for a party and I was upset that when it was served it was hard and stale. read more

This supermarket chain has a monopoly in Needham and it is one of the few bad things about living in this town. Having come from a town where we had a full sized Roche Bros I know how nice this supermarket can be. In the full sized version I didn't mind paying a bit more, but shopping in this mini Roche Bros there is no selection and the fruits and vegetables aren't as good. Maybe it's because they have them outside half the time. Why? Because there is not enough space in the store. Size matters :) and this place proves it. read more

Roche Brothers of Needham is my favorite supermarket because of the quality of foods, services, and accessibility. It's nearby, within a ten-minute drive and there's always a place to park. I can buy meats, poultry without fear of spoilage and the quality of fish, prepackaged foods is very good. While there are huge supermarket chains further away from here, the only advantage of going there is slightly lower prices and a wider variety. The Needham store is small, likely less than 15,000 square feet but they carry almost everything I might need, even during the holidays. The best part is that the management is astute and aware as it's clean and everyone is knowledgeable, helpful. I now do perhaps 75% of my shopping there and for good reason. read more

I have lived in Needham more than 40 years. Roche Bros. opened their 2nd store in 1959 in Needham. The new Roche Bros. stores are very glamorous. This store has obviously has been forgotten. This store is convenient for me, and that is the only reason that I will shop at this location. In the last several years I have seen a tremendous decline in the stores quality. The produce is poor quality along with the deli/meat counter. Bud & Pat Roche would be ashamed. I guess all the Roche Bros. $$$'s are being spent on opening new stores because they certainly are not spending to keep the one store that got them where they are respectable. If they are not going to keep this store respectable; they should shut it down. read more
