The highlight of our day was sitting at the bar afterwards with Stephanie, she was funny engaging, and really knew how to make an excellent cocktail. She made it very easy to socialize with the other guest at the bar. Such a great time. I can't tell you what an asset Stephanie is to that company. We were expecting to go eat and then maybe go someplace else for a drink, but after our experience with all of the workers as well as I mentioned, Stephanie. We just had to stay. I highly recommend foods and staff are amazing. You gotta go. I also wanted to add that the ambience was very warm and welcoming.

The wait staff informed me that there was NO ROOM for us in the EMPTY seating area, so we were seated next door in the bar area. If you can tell me why there was no room in an empty restaurant for a party who arrived ON TIME, please someone let me know. At any rate the bar area was fun and lively but a bit narrow to navigate. Since it was happy hour, we ordered all of the $6 Snacks and some $8 snack items. OOOK, here we go: Hot chicken slider( you only get 1 folks) very good and had the right amount of toppings 5/5 Pulled pork slider: Very flavorful, juicy, and tender: 5/5 Caesar salad: 5/5 Deviled eggs. Good, but too salty Fried pickles: Good, but too salty Chicken & Andouille Gumbo: This was excellent. The braised chicken thighs were seasoned well and very tender. The pickled red onions really elevated this dish. 5/5 The grilled salmon had a great char and crunch. It was not dry nor over cooked. 5/5 The burger was delicious just as a burger should be and the famous duck fat fries were very crunchy. 5/5 for both Happy hour is really the time to go, but make sure they honor your reservation. Til we eat again....

This time I ordered the chicken empanadas and smoked wings with Freddy J's Classic Mild sauce. The freshness of the food really stood out, especially the chicken empanadas -- and the portion size was generous, making them perfect for sharing (or not!). The Classic Mild sauce was good, but I'll admit I still prefer their Hot Honey Garlic sauce from my previous visit -- that one just hits differently. I also ordered Yuenglings from their happy hour menu, which paired perfectly with the wings. Everything was consistent with my last visit, which honestly says a lot. There was nothing off about the food or service, and I genuinely can't think of anything that needed improvement. Service was friendly, fast, and attentive, and the vibe was relaxed and lively -- a little loud, but still easy enough to hold a conversation. The space felt clean and comfortable, making it a great spot to unwind after work. This visit didn't change my opinion -- I still highly recommend Freddy J's. It's a solid choice for happy hour, casual dining, and group outings.

We finally got…read moreto visit last night after having dinner at the restaurant you must go through in order to enter the Lounge because it's speakeasy style. We entered through the wall of the restaurant and walked right into the cute bar area of the lounge (3 bar seats). The energy was buzzing and there were others laughing and talking so we slipped right into a table and go comfy. Kayla greeted us minutes after we settled in and brought over menus and water. She let us take our time deciding on cocktails and we were glad she did because the menu is extensive. 2 pages of specialty cocktails and countless pages of over 200 different whiskeys! I decided on a gin based cocktail called a BIJOU and the man decided on an Old Fashioned. Kayla wanted to ensure we thoroughly enjoyed our drinks so she shared that we were able to change the type of whiskey and gin if we wanted. Both cocktails were DELICIOUS and absolutely "spirited"! Kayla is such an amazing mixologist and she was also the only employee in the lounge so she was mixing drinks, seating people, answering questions and doing so seamlessly and with a smile. We will definitely be back and will be sure to bring friends anytime they're in town because this place is such a gem.

I sorta don't want to tell people about it because I want this place to myself on weeknights haha. So I walked into the restaurant and just wandered around looking for the lounge. (It's across the bar, hidden door lol). But Kayla the bartender is very knowledgeable, friendly and great. The Paper Plane cocktail was really good. It's such a nice space. I'm glad they let non-members like me in. Haha Thanks for a relaxing night!

Just the vibe is awesome but to meet Mike. This is his place. He is the guy that was on D, D, & D. An absolute treat. Slow night so I got to talk with him. Again, more on that. The chicken skin appetizer. OMG. So good. I need to figure out how to make these at home. Had the FTC burger and tots as Mike was nice enough to dissuade me away from the Moo Caliente. Says on the menu "VERY spicy". Mike gave me the Reaper aioli for my tots. Holy hot! But tasty. If you like really spicy, take the Moo Caliente on. Now Mike is the owner, bartender, and designer of all this. I have never had the opportunity to actually speak with the guy I saw on TV but he is so down to earth he acts like just an employee. What an honor to get to hang out and speak with the owner. An incredible experience and you must try Farmer & the Cow if in Wilmington

Leashed and friendly dogs are allowed inside the modern tasting room and outside at the impressive patio and we enjoyed our visit on a boisterous Sunday afternoon. The management is cognizant of how dogs may interact with each other and may suggest that if other dogs are inside maybe it will be better to sit outside, but it is all up to your comfort level. We really enjoyed this craft distillery, makers of vodka, gin, and rum that deliciously feature their liquors in hand crafted cocktails. A customer favorite is the "Famous Drilled Orange" where a hole is drilled into a fresh orange and filled with vodka. You have a choice of a grapefruit and also a liquor-free version. The Lady Guava rum-based drink is also so delicious and there is a whole list of cocktails to choose from. They also offer local beer, wine, mead, and non-alcoholic options. A soft pretzel, personal pizza, and mixed nuts are available for purchase and you can also bring your own food. There is a free parking lot right next door off Basin Street. We were so happy that one of our most supportive followers was also hanging out at Hops and Hardware and recognized us: Dave B., and his pups Dozer & Pugsley! It was fun to catch up and we appreciate meeting others who love hanging out with their dogs and supporting small businesses.

Huge bar, giant wall of liquor bottles, dim lighting, and a cool old-school vibe. I told the bartender that ordering a beer in a place like this felt like I was insulting him. He laughed and told me not to worry about it. The drink special was called "Naked and Famous," which honestly sounded like the perfect cocktail to order in honor of Jen. But then I spotted a dark beer on the menu that sounded too good to pass up. If you follow me, you know I'm slowly becoming a dark beer guy. I liked it a lot. The sandwich special was a cheesesteak. Sorry, I should've taken a picture of the menu. But I really enjoyed it, and for $18 it came with a mountain of seasoned fries, which feels like a bargain these days. Bomb Shell: the two people working absolutely crushed it. I don't know if they were understaffed or if Monday night got busier than expected, but they were working their tails off the entire time. Even with that, they stayed polite, friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating to the guy carrying around a mannequin. Great visit to Sassafras!
