I think they have really good chicken tenders made from all white mesh tasted very fresh made from scratch crispy on the outside with a slight pepper taste and juicy on the inside delicious. The barbecue chicken pizza was good. I like the crust it's nice and thin the chicken is white. Oh, how the mighty can fall. I have been ordering from Rock City fairly consistently for about four years. Over the last year or so, I have noticed a dip in quality in the food. Things often arrive cold, and the delivery times keep on creeping up along with prices. I've continued to order from here despite my quibbles, but tonight I had such an abysmal experience that I never plan to again. I placed an order at 6:30 p.m. for the steak tip dinner with onion rings and a salad as sides. The delivery estimate was 7:05 p.m., which came and went. At 7:40 p.m., I finally got a call from the driver, who sounded downright panicked; he was babbling that he could not find my apartment and was "so upset right now." I live on a one-way, so you have to circle around to get back to my house if you miss it, which he had based on where he said he was. I said as much to him, and he said he "couldn't believe" he had to go all the way around again. I said, "Well, it's a one-way street; I don't know what else to tell you." I heard some mumbling, and then, the driver screamed, very clearly, "F--- YOU!" I was aghast. After a second I said, "Excuse me??" I heard more mumbling, then he hung up the phone. I immediately tried calling Rock City to tell them what had happened. My phone showed me that someone had picked up, but apparently whoever that was hung up on me. *This then happened three more times.* (Did they somehow know?) When I finally got someone on the phone and described what was happening, the woman barely even seemed to be listening to me. I told her I wanted a refund, and she kind of paused, then asked me what had been said and whether my food had been delivered. Right at this point, the driver called me back, and I told the woman I would go downstairs and see what he said. I kept her on the line. I told the driver it was completely uncool of him to scream at me like that, to which he replied that he was not screaming at me, but rather at a woman on the street. After meeting him, I believe that, but also, it ultimately does not even matter: It was still upsetting to hear screamed in my ear, and furthermore, it is completely unacceptable to do that while you're on the phone with a paying customer. Yet if anything, the driver seemed irritated that I was upset by the situation. After several minutes of trying to reason with him, I got so fed up that I just took my food and went back up to my apartment, wishing I had tipped in cash rather than electronically. Mind you, I still had Rock City on the line while this was happening, hoping that they would hear this interaction. When I got back upstairs, I went back to the line and asked, "Did you hear that?"... Crickets. I don't know if they had put me on hold or what, but nobody was responding at that point. I hung up the phone, infuriated beyond belief. And the cherry on top of this crap sundae of an experience was that (1) they had not included my salad, (2) they had over cooked my steak tips, and (3) the onion rings were a cold, mushy mess. I should have called again and demanded the refund I originally wanted, but honestly, I never want to talk to this place again. So: Bye, Felicia. Rock City Pizza is a perfect example of a establishment with great food that is immediately negated by their staff's incompetence and attention to detail. With a large amount of orders, the wait time for your food can sometimes be higher than they originally tell you on the phone, and that's okay. What isn't okay is the fact that they continually botch the orders. Whether it's them delivering the wrong pizza or forgot to put cheese in your sub, the mistakes keep piling on. If your feeling lucky and willing to roll the dice, I recommend the Greek Salad or Chicken finger sub. If you have crappy luck, I recommend some of the other local pizza spots that nail the order every time. read more

Truly the easiest one star I've ever given. This was truly a masterclass in poor customer service. Let's review the sequence of events 7:11PM. Place an order on grubhub. ETA says 7:50-8:00. Order says it is "arriving soon" at 7:50. 8:10PM: no food. Call Rock City. They tell me that, not only is it not arriving soon, it isn't even done yet. Says it needs 5 more minutes and then they're getting a driver. It's 15 minutes away. So let's say 20-30 minute eta. 8:40PM: no food. I call back. They immediately put me on hold again. My wife calls on her phone, not attached to the grubhub account, and they answer. Once she explains that she's attached to this order, they put her on hold and, after 17m of being on hold, she hangs up. Meanwhile, while I was on hold during that time, Rock City hung up on me. So I kept calling. Kept getting put on hold. Sometimes the hostess would answer and say please hold. Sometimes she would just pick up the phone, say nothing, and put me on hold. Sometimes the phone would say the restaurant isn't accepting calls. 8:50PM So I kept calling and, eventually, she answered and said they needed to cancel my order but also that the driver was on their way...which is it? 9:20PM: no food. I keep calling until someone takes my call. It is a guy. Different from the woman that had been taking/not taking my calls this entire time. And he said my food should be arriving right now. Which, after 2 hours since I placed it for a place 15 minutes away, it arrived. The food was cold when it arrived, obviously. This was truly one of the most unacceptable bouts of customer service I've ever seen. Judging from the other 1 star comments, this isn't unique, apparently. But like, good god, at no point did the woman on the phone apologize for the inconvenience or provide any actual factual information. Even from the first call, the food's eta was 750-8, said it was arriving soon, but it wasn't even done being made yet. And then it only got worse from there. It was absolutely wild that they would perpetually leave someone on hold. I get places can get busy. But no place is THAT busy that they can leave someone on hold for 17 minutes. This was such a crazy unacceptable experience. Rock City, get it together - what are you doing. Gotta get someone else answering your phones than whoever that person was. read more

Not quite in my neck of the woods, I was brought out here to Rock City Pizza by an expiring deal voucher. Yeah, but I had to buy it first - I thought a voucher would be a good reason to try this new to me place, and so it was! Rock City Pizza is located on Cambridge Street between Twin Donuts (where Cambridge Street and North Beacon Street meet) and St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. It has the center spot of a short strip of businesses. And is actually quite roomy within, with the open kitchen/counter area to the left, a seating area to the right, and a rather open space between, bordered by the drink case and a chip rack along the back. One young gentleman behind the counter was rather friendly and chatty, while the other two older fellas were busy at work. As it was my first visit to his business, I attempted to obtain recommendations. He resisted at first since he felt that it depends. True. But he was willing to tell me his personal preference. Wing Dings over Chicken Wings. I was told that Wing Dings are pre-seasoned and battered and frozen. Chicken wings are fresh, but later tossed into your choice of sauce, and he wasn't into sauce. Sure, the fresh wings were larger, but he sold me on the Wing Dings which were $9.99 for a small on the board, but he said it was ringing up at the register at $8.99. To that, I added a side of onion rings $3.99 and a large Chicken Pesto Supreme $16.99 (Pizza Cheese, Pesto, Tomato and Chicken), which turned out to be his favorite pizza. When the pizza came through the oven, he took it out of the pan and stuck it back in - he likes a crisper crust. My, so do I! This order was to-go. But still, even after I got my bounty home, I liked it! The chicken and tomato chunks were large enough to keep them from drying out through the baking process, the crust wasn't too thick, the wing dings tasty even without the sauce. I really am not one to add reviews to help but for your safety please please please do not eat here. I got a chicken salad at night and woke up the next morning with fevers/Nausea/ and other unpleasant symptoms. It has lasted for the past 3 days now and I can barely keep anything down. I would have had a picture of it but I ate it before I could make it home . That's just how good it was ! So cheesy and the crust baked to perfection. This tastes like an Asian dish, straight soy sauce and lacking the sweetness of teriyaki. When there j asked if it was a Teriyaki dish, the cashier said no however the taste says it all. Someone at this company is stealing from their customers. They email you your receipt which contains the tip, delivery fee, and taxes. It's a good thing my husband still balances our checkbook. On our last bank statement he realized that it wouldn't balance. It was about $2 off so we went through all of the other charges to figure out the culprit. I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this place. The reviews were good and they delivered to our apartment and I want to find my next pizza place!! We ordered a Cheese and Mushroom and The Blanco Hawaiian. The Blanco Hawaiian was good, it had a lot on it which was great - flavor A+. The only negative was that it was a little undercooked (topped it off in our oven) but NOTHING like the cheese and mushroom. I opened the box super excited because it looked good but when I went to pick up a slice it completely fell apart. The dough underneath was pretty much non existent it was just a wet, transparent mess. A couple pieces I managed to slide on to some tin foil and put in the oven to try to cook a little further but it was just too thin and soggy... a huge disappointment. I pretty much peeled off the crust and ate it with the cheese (which I was sort of fine with in a way). I think if I order again I will just ask if they can cook it more well done because the flavor was there just NOT the dough - or maybe too much sauce?? I was not informed the wait for my food to be delivered was going to be over an hour, when I called back and asked when my food would arrive because it was over an hour I was told there was a large pizza order and only one delivery driver. I received my food stone cold and sub was as soggy as wet socks. I called back and asked to speak with a manager and get refund and was told the manager hadn't been in since the store opened and was unsure when they would be back, I left my contact number and demanded a phone call back and refund. Your perfect mediocre pizza! Got the 12" Veggie with a friend which was the perfect size for two to share. It was loaded with peppers, mushrooms, onion, and lots of black olives. Since we ordered the twelve inch pie, the slices were on the smaller end, reminding me more of a Blaze-like pizza. We also got a small serving of onion rings, which actually came with quite a lot!
