Rock it Grill is the dive bar karaoke place with a good burger. It's under new management, so they are starting to add live bands on weekends. The food is ok. The chicken tenders were a bit overcooked and the fries are so-so. They need to fix the A/C but the fans worked well. We had a great time dancing, drinking and spending time with friends. They were a bit understaffed but they hustled to work the table service and the bar. Good prices and people. Please support the live bands and the Rock it Grill. Keeping it real in Old Town.

I've passed Rock It Grill so many times, as I've lived in Alexandria, VA for 17 years now. Don't ask me why I just recently finally tried them out. I should have a long time ago. My server was so nice. I think she was the bartender and that didn't keep her for being attentive at my table. I really appreciate that because that doesn't happen all the time. I ended up ordering their Pedro's Favorite breakfast scrambler. It came with three eggs scrambled with Spicy Ground Beef, Black Olives, Bell Peppers, Tomatoes, Jalapeños, and Monterey Jack Cheese. It came with Sour Cream, Salsa, and a side of Breakfast Potatoes and Toast. I loved the Tex-Mex flavor of the scrambler...all of the ingredients came together well. I also loved the portion size...I definitely did not leave hungry still. Lol. The Breakfast Potatoes were cooked well, crispy but not overcooked. The Toast was pretty good but the butter they had for it was frozen hard. I'd give this whole breakfast scrambler platter an 8 out of 10. I'd give my overall experience from the customer service and food together a 9 out of 10 (8 for the food, 10 for the customer service). Now, when I pass by Rock It Grill again, I might just stop in more often to try other items on their menu.

This is THE neighborhood bar! Drinks: reasonably priced! Food: rotating specials from the guys in the kitchen, with old bay wings and chicken tenders to soak up the drinks! Staff: love them! They know the regulars and show plenty love to them, even on the busiest nights, while not neglecting tourists and new patrons. And last but not least (probably should have been first), karaoke EVERY NIGHT, 9:30p - 130a with the bar closing totally at 2. EVERY NIGHT. This spot is a King St staple! One of the better karaoke acoustics you will find in the city.

So I met up with a partner of mine that lives in the area here because it was close to the VRBO lol service was OK but the lady was by herself. Drinks were OK and the food was cool as well. They started the karaoke and it just got way too loud. Anyway, check this place out. I think it gets really busy on the weekends. They have TVs to watch football game so that was good.

Last night in the DC area and my friends wanted to hit up a karaoke bar. I thought why not, but I'm not singing. After a short Uber ride here we were happy to be in good company. I'm not the biggest karaoke fan, but I do have to say they ran this pretty smoothly and that the people participating were killing it on the mic. I was jamming along with the renditions coming out of the stage area and attempted to focus on the menu in front of me. I was hungry but I also wanted to get a drink or two so that I could wind down after a week's worth of work at a conference. With the late hour we were here the menu was a bit limited, but I was able to order what I knew would hold me over. I went with the chicken tenders and a water to start. After a thought about it I decided why not get a margarita as well. When the food arrived I was impressed. Three big chicken planks that were expertly crusted. Then to serve it with fresh cut fries, you got me. This comes with ketchup and I think it was honey mustard. My margarita was on point and decided to order a second. The drinks were hitting me harder than the places in DC I had visited. I paid and got myself a ride back to the hotel so that I could get ready for my departure the next day.

We were excited not only for the christening, but to host a celebratory brunch after church service to embrace our friend and his growing family with love and support. That was the intention. And while we were able to do that at church, once we got to Blackwall Hitch we had one of the worst private dining experiences of our lives. After being told that the a/c was broken and would be fixed by the time the brunch began, we arrived to a hot room without air or fans and were expected to hold a brunch in that room with guests that included a baby and several elderly people. We had to convince the staff to bring fans into the room. Not only that, but we didn't get lighting in the room until an hour after the brunch began, the service form staff was poor, and the venue's event management coordinator, Stephanie Guel-Sosa was rude, dismissive, and disinterested in providing any sort of relief for the disaster her company caused. As my friend has said, his daughter and his family will only get one of these days in their lives, and Blackwall Hitch did nothing to prevent it from being intolerable. They could have caused heat exhaustion or worse. I would highly recommend avoiding this restaurant both for private events but also for casual dining. The food was fine, service was terrible, and overall it just wasn't worth the pain. How unfortunate. Jared DeWese

Especially in the winter time with the white lights lining King St outside. Tonight, we had an amazing meal prepared by Chef Tony. We started with their fried oysters on top of apple slaw and their potato and leek soup. The soup was piping hot with small hush puppy style croutons inside served in a beautiful bowl. It was delicious too! I don't even like oysters, but I liked these. Next came the Betty's buns and beet salad. The beet salad is such an interesting preparation with ricotta, raw and cooked beets, some herbs, orange segments and pistachios. I really enjoyed the brightness of the dish. And who doesn't love a good warm bun with butter? The entrees were really beautifully plated and delicious too. The catfish was our favorite with a delicious broth, poured table-side. I've never had a bison steak before - but this one was perfectly cooked with cippolini onions, chimichurri and sweet potatoes. The plating on everything was absolutely gorgeous. And for dessert - a spongy apple cider cake and creamy chocolate cremeux. I don't even like apples, but this cake was amazing. It had beautiful accompaniments as well. And the chocolate cremeux was served with beautifully poached pears and cranberries. We loved both. Our waiter kept our water glasses full, knew all the details about the menu and was so pleasant and prompt. Absolutely love it here!!!

We ordered the ribeye, New York steak, and filet mignon, all cooked to perfection. The Oysters Rockefeller were superb! I had asked for my daughter's meal to come out as soon as possible, and they made it happen without hesitation, which we really appreciated. For sides, we had the Brussels sprouts--perfectly balanced, sweet but not overly so--and the creamed corn, which was absolutely on point. I don't eat beef or pork, but after watching a review from Peaks100, I saw that the manager also recommended the seafood along with the steaks. My wife eats steak, so I took her there for that, and I planned to order seafood. Spoiler alert: my wife enjoyed her steak. Now that I got that out of the way, let me continue. https://youtu.be/5uPuX7Fk_cE?si=H7NI2vI_uMWAeREq Appetizer Octopus Ceviche -- $18 I told our server that I didn't want any pork on it. She seemed surprised and told me it didn't come with pork. I had already looked up "pancetta crumble" and knew pancetta was pork, so I showed her the menu. She then said she knew what pancetta was and would make sure there was no pork on my plate. The ceviche itself didn't have much flavor. I didn't really enjoy it, but it wasn't bad enough for me to complain or send it back. Dinner Housemade "Parkerhouse" Rolls -- $8 These came out fresh and hot with butter. They were good. No complaints. Chef's Fresh Catch -- $50 The fresh catch was grouper. The fish had some salt on it and a nice char, but the heavy cream-based sauce on the plate didn't have much flavor. Again, I didn't really enjoy it, but not enough to complain or return the dish. Jumbo Lump Crab Oscar -- $28 Wow, this was not good at all. I probably should have sent it back, but I didn't. It was tough and rubbery (see pic), almost like it had been left under the broiler too long. I took it home with me, but I honestly will probably end up throwing it away. Sides Crispy Brussels Sprouts -- $13 These were good, just like many of the other reviews mentioned. Yukon Gold Potato Purée -- $12 They were okay. Nothing to write home about. Dessert Coconut Cream Bread Pudding -- $14 It was just okay. The coconut flakes was too much, in my opinion, and eventually became overwhelming. It didn't feel very balanced. Overall, I felt the service could have been better, and most of the food needed more flavor, especially at this price point. Nothing was so terrible that I felt the need to ask for a manager, but I also didn't enjoy most of what I ordered. I ordered it, so I paid for it and kept it moving. Also, a 25% gratuity was already added to the bill. Maybe that is why the service was lacking, because they already knew they were going to get 25% "allegedly". Honestly, I don't think I'll be back. There are too many other good places in the DMV where you can have better food and a better overall experience for the same price or less.

When I asked about the discrepancy, I was told the systems sometimes differ by a few cents. The adjustment was made when I requested to pay the correct total, but the response suggested that questioning "only two cents" was unreasonable. My concern was never the amount; it was the principle. When a customer is shown one accurate total and then asked to authorize a higher one without explanation, it creates the appearance of taking money that was not part of the stated charge. If I may add my two cents as a former patron and frequent restaurant guest: trust matters in a dining experience. Even a few unexplained pennies raise a reasonable question--if this occurs repeatedly throughout the day, where do those extra cents go? A couple of cents from one guest, a few more from another, eventually add up. Transparency in billing prevents that concern. When a discrepancy is presented without a clear explanation and a patron is made to feel foolish for asking about it, it leaves a bad taste, regardless of how enjoyable the meal may have been.
