It was pretty busy when we arrived and they only had one waitress and the bartender. The bartender, Felicia, jumped in to help the other waitress. Both of them were fantastic and handled the crowd expertly. We had the appetizer sampler, which was delicious. However, they were out of pot stickers so we got extra jalapeño poppers. The Tuna Tataki was very tasty and quite a lot for one order. The chicken solo was very tasty also. We had to order the smoked salmon sashimi due to being out of the plain salmon, but it was still delish. The Japanese bagel roll aka Philly roll tasted much better than last time. It tasted freshly made as opposed to the last visit. We really enjoyed our cocktails which were refreshing and yummy. This was a much more enjoyable meal and we were impressed with the service and the food. Great job to all involved, especially our server, Felicia, and we will definitely be back again. Friday evening arrived around 7:35 pm and had to wait outside in the cold before being seated at 7:45 pm. Once inside, the music was so loud it made it hard to have a normal conversation with my wife about our day. Not a great start for a weeknight dinner. Service was uneven. My wife's food came out in a reasonable time, but my order (spicy tuna roll and sashimi salad) was significantly delayed. Long enough that her meal was getting cold while we waited. There was no communication, no apology, and staff avoided eye contact during the delay. The restaurant didn't appear understaffed, so the holdup was unclear. Food quality was mixed. The sashimi salad was solid and fresh. However, the spicy tuna roll had a noticeable canned-fish smell, which wasn't what I'd expect from a quality sushi roll. My wife's fried rice had an overpowering burnt soy sauce flavor. Between the loud atmosphere, lack of communication from staff, and inconsistent food quality, this wasn't a great experience. We likely won't return, especially with more authentic sushi options that we've had consistently better experiences with. Update: A generic copy/paste apology. No explanation for why my meal was delayed while my wife's got cold. No acknowledgment of staff avoiding communication. No response to the food quality concerns (spicy tuna smelled canned, fried rice tasted burnt). Asking me to email privately doesn't address the public service and quality issues described. The last 2 times I have gone there they were out of ramen and other items, how can you be out of one of the main items on your menu. Service has gone down and a majority of the staff who weee there in January are gone the floor is always dirty and the quality of the sushi is at the level of gas station sushi. The chef does not know how to make sushi so it stays together and it is always falling apart when you pick it up. I received dirty dishes to use for dipping. The music is too loud and when the tiny space is filled the noise levels are high. They keep the place cold so eat your food fast or the AC will cool it down quick. read more

As someone who loves loves sushi and has been to many sushi places in Az and Tx, the sushi here was mid. I don't feel it is worth it, especially since there are other great options in Tucson,,,you'd just have to drive into town. The sashimi was another letdown -- very thin slices, even though the chef shaped them into a cute rose. Creative, yes, but the portion size was far too small to be called sashimi. The kids' ramen turned out to be MARUCHAN -- definitely disappointing for a $4 dish that's essentially instant noodles. After that, I wouldn't feel confident ordering the ramen from the main menu. On the bright side, the fried rice was delicious, especially with the teriyaki sauce. It's great to finally have a sushi restaurant on the far southeast side of Tucson, but the food quality needs improvement. I've taken one of the girls I nanny to this new sushi spot in Rita Ranch twice in one week, and I'm already planning our third visit. It's one of those places that instantly becomes a favorite -- fun, fresh, and full of personality. The entire restaurant is decorated with a rock 'n' roll theme, which is SO cute and creative. From the second you walk in, there's rock music playing, themed artwork, and fun little touches that make it feel way more special than your average lunch stop. Even the bathrooms are cheetah print and play rock music on a screen -- not only are they super clean, but they're also adorable. It's such a fun vibe all around. Now onto the food: the lunch specials are a steal. You pick one original roll and get a side of either three crab rangoons, an egg roll, or fried rice. I got the crab rangoons both times (they're crispy and packed with flavor), and switched up my rolls -- first the spicy shrimp roll, then the fried salmon roll. Both were phenomenal -- super fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. The girl I was with got the specialty roll lunch combo both times, which is about $17.99 and also comes with a side. She tried both the crab rangoons and the egg roll -- she's not usually big on crab rangoons, but even she admitted they were good. The egg roll was her favorite though! The service is always fast and friendly, and the whole restaurant is spotless. And while it's not exactly a "hidden gem" (everyone in the Vail area seems to already know about it), it still feels like a special little spot. Opened a little over a month ago. In one of those uniquely maze-like not-a-mall malls unique in my experience to AZ. Just park by the Freddy's and look for the pink neon. Not huge inside, maybe 20 tables, max 10 seats at the bar...ample outdoor seating...so the view of the parking lot can be savored. 3 stars Service-could not have been better. I was excited to try this place. It has a cool concept and some creatively rock n roll named cocktails and sushi rolls. The staff wear rock band shirts, the bar feels like a stage, and classic rock videos that I've never seen played on the TV screens. I absolutely love the decor. I was disappointed, though, not to see an actual sushi bar with sushi chefs preparing the sushi. The greeting from the host was not so warm. She said she'd be right with us and left us standing for a while while more guests arrived behind us. We tried to make room for each other to avoid crowding the entrance, which made it bit awkward. There seemed to be some drama among the staff. I also noticed that most of the sushi rolls are fried, and there was no salmon available at the time which was disappointing since I enjoy salmon rolls. There was a short wait, maybe 10 minutes, but we were seated quickly and our waitress, Cassidy, took our order right away. She was super friendly and helpful. The interior was fun and clean, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered the appetizer sampler, Groupie Roll, Thriller Roll, Experience Roll, and the kids' ramen. The sampler was okay, but next time I'd probably just go with the pot stickers or crispy wontons on their own. The rolls were decent, and the kids' ramen broth tasted a bit watered down. I had some poppers, miso soup, and the tour bus roll. The miso soup was good. The poppers were interesting because they were similar to a traditional popper, but with crab in them. They were pretty darn good. I have to be honest, I didn't care much for the tour bus roll. I thought the rice was over cooked (kind of soggy/mushy/heavy with water saturation). Other people in the party made similar comments about the rice. That being said, this place is not the worst Tucson sushi place we've been to, but not the best. This rating is heavily influenced by the service provided, especially on a busy Saturday. The food, however as a huge miss for us and I hope things improve as there were a few things I hope they take note of. First thing first, the rice was n all our sushi was severely undercooked. That grainy starchy texture is so unappealing. For a sushi restaurant this can't happen and when it does someone needs to catch it, throw it out and get it right. In a full restaurant I'm sure you didn't make the impression you had hoped to. $100 for two is steep for this kind of execution. Second, make sure whoever is cutting your fish is well trained and consistent . Presentation lacks. Basic overall execution lacks regardless of the price. I'll let the picture speak for itself and y'all can make your own conclusions. Food came out fast. Very fast for a sushi restaurant and I think this might be part of the issue. I know there was a 50 wait on tables but you want to make sure the people you serve enjoy their product and want to come back. Overall, if you expect a classic traditional sushi restaurant and sushi rolls and most things are on the overly saucy side (for my taste). Decided to try this new sushi place. Super excited to have sushi near us. The concept is great. Music videos streaming the whole time of old school rock - loved it and it wasn't too loud where we couldn't hear each other. Also made for great conversation and old memories! The changing color lights over the bar did get a little difficult to read the menu, but it's all part of the vibe. There were about 4 parties in front us, so after waiting about 25 minutes, we were able to grab 2 seats at the bar. Bartender/server was very nice. Unfortunately, they were out of one of the drinks we wanted to try, but we picked another and it was excellent. On their website, they describe this chain as Americanized sushi and that is exactly what it is. Lots of different rolls and the menu is huge (also shaped like record albums which I thought was very cute). There were a number of rolls that looked interesting, but contained cream cheese, so we asked if they could make it without and they were happy to do so - and it all came out exactly as we ordered, which was great! All of the sushi we ordered was excellent and good sized portions for sushi. We are very excited to have a great sushi restaurant near us finally! My husband is excited to go back and try the ramen. And if we have a few of us in our party, we will definitely try one of the trays served on a guitar. This chain is a great concept with very good food! We ordered a Rocked Lobster Roll, Spider Roll, and California Roll. Flavors were good, but two of the three rolls fell apart the second they were touched, making it impossible to eat with chopsticks and even difficult to eat with a fork. I've never experienced that at a sushi restaurant. But because the flavors were good, I feel 4 stars is fair. I also ordered their lychee mocktail which was yummy. Ok so we have been SUPER EXCITED for this place since we learned about it coming a year ago. They opened on Monday... today is Thursday. We were wholly underwhelmed. We discussed it and would give it a 6 out of 10 overall. They were busy, as we knew they would be. We waited about 20 minutes and were sat outside despite our preference for indoors and passing three empty tables. Our server came out and seemed a bit frantic as she explained each page of the menu. She took our drink order and went to get them. She forgot who had what, but no big deal... there were only a few of us and easy to sort out. We ordered appetizers (the twisted tuna and the edamame). The edamame came out in about 7 minutes, but the tuna was another 8 minutes. Both were subpar. The edamame was dried out, and the spicy salt did not make sense. The tuna was a good idea, but the avocado was a little browned and the tuna itself had very little flavor. Still, we held our hope for the entrees (which we'd ordered while waiting for the appetizers). We ordered three rolls and a kids meal. First two rolls arrived 16 minutes after the tuna app was delivered... and then the last roll and kids meal arrived 6 minutes later. 1. Kids meal: wasn't even half eaten bc my usually sushi crazy kid said it tasted dried out. 2. Rocked Lobster roll: didn't taste any lobster or ginger. Bland. 3. Punk rock roll: we liked the fruit chutney on top and the sauce it came with, but the roll itself was again bland and dry. 4. Groupie: came with a LOT of sauce and the roll was ok... not a lot of flavor, but fresher tasting than the others. Service: 6/10 (missed opportunity to make it more rock and roll themed! She was slow in bringing refills, rushed the check, and seemed a little frazzled when we asked her to print it (bc the rewards program apparently doesn't work there) Food: 6/10. Best thing we got were the wonton chips that came with the tuna appetizer... and that's saying something. Everything was just dried out and bland. The site proudly advertises that there are no sushi chefs, and it shows. Ambience: 8/10 music was obviously awesome, although very loud outside. Space inside is very cramped, and space outside does not include anything for comfort in the Arizona heat... most places here have the water spritzers, fans, or at least shades to block the sun. The roof is open slats , and isn't even fully covered. We may consider returning to try the ramen, but I think, for the prices and lack of flavor, we won't be back for the sushi. We were in time for their lunch specials, so we opted for those great deals! I got a spicy tuna roll with an egg roll and hubby got their chicken fried rice. They even brought me a ginger dressing green salad when they delivered my husband's because they accidentally made two. Salad was cold, fresh, and delicious! Not overly dressed, either. My roll was average tasting. Egg roll was served hot and was tasty! Hubby enjoyed his fried rice. I tasted it and found the chicken to be a little on the chewy side. Not sure if they microwave their chicken. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. My family and I went to this location to celebrate my wife's and my anniversary, so we ordered a good amount of food. We had a pretty good experience, and I would love to give this place five stars, but it isn't quite there yet, and I will get to that shortly. We ordered the appetizer sampler, kids' ramen, the experience roll, groupie roll, and thriller roll. The appetizer sampler had crab rangoon, pot stickers, egg rolls, and fried crab jalapeno poppers. The kids' ramen was a standard store-bought ramen. The experience roll has a mango on top, rice, fried shrimp, cucumber, and a tiny portion of cream cheese (I think). The groupie roll has crab on top, rice, fried shrimp, and cream cheese. The thriller was a fried roll of stuff I can't remember lol. Now, going over the flavor of the food. This is all off my personal preference, and by no means was any of the food bad. So, on the sampler, I liked the crab rangoon and the pot sticker, but the other two items were not flavorful. The crab rangoon was like a flaky triangle filled with cream cheese and crab flavors, and it was pretty balanced. The pot sticker was meaty and easy to eat. The popper had no heat or pepper taste, and the crab didn't have flavor. I don't know why this was the case. The egg roll was ok with cabbage and meat, but the crab rangoon and pot sticker overshadowed it. So I will personally get the rangoon in the future, instead of the sampler. For the rolls, the thriller and groupie stole the show, and the experience roll was not an experience for me. The experience is a flat note. So the mango adds a touch of sweetness, but the rest of the roll was bland, and I cannot figure out why. The groupie had a savory taste that I enjoyed, and I can see myself eating this again. I am not much of a fried sushi eater, but the thriller was the best of the three, and even though I don't remember what's in it, I wanted more. I am sure I could have over-stuffed myself on the thriller. The atmosphere of the place was groovy, with neon lights and excellent rock music videos on the screens. The vibe there was fun, a little tight on seating, but fun. Here is what takes the star away, which can easily be obtained. We were there between 5:30pm to 6:40pm and the sun beams right in like we are in a fish bowl. With the sun constantly attacking, it is hard to have a conversation, relax, and not get a headache. This place desperately needs sunshades, and hopefully, they will get them because that was a little rough. The kids' ramen was basic. Our 2-year-old loves regular katsu ramen, and we hoped that's what this was, but it was just your regular store-purchased ramen. Good news, though: Our daughter was eating the heck out of it, so there was no loss there. Yay! The overall bill is $65, and they are military-friendly.
