Went here for lunch with a friend. Small place inside but they have a patio area which is nice. The customer service was great! The reason for 3 stars is the sushi. As someone who loves loves sushi and has been to many sushi places in Az and Tx, the sushi here was mid. I don't feel it is worth it, especially since there are other great options in Tucson,,,you'd just have to drive into town. The flavors were not all there for some and the rolls on a few just kept falling apart. The appetizers were good, no complaints there. I think it may be a good option for them to look into getting sunshades for the patio side just to not have the sun blaring in your face.

A Fresh Vibe in Vail Let's take a moment to celebrate Vail's growth -- and this fun new addition to the lineup! A sushi and ramen spot with a full bar (and mocktails!) is exactly the kind of fresh energy this area needed. Service was awesome -- friendly, fast, and upbeat. Loved the playlist overhead with classics like Jimi Hendrix and other greats, plus music videos rolling on multiple screens that really set a fun, casual tone. To be clear, this is a franchise aiming for good vibes and quick bites, not a fine-dining Japanese experience -- and it nails that purpose. The menu covers sushi, ramen, and dessert bites, all designed for an easy, flavorful meal with a side of fun. Not the most vegetarian/vegan-forward menu, but major kudos to our server and the kitchen for being so accommodating with modifications. I like my food fiery, and while the spice level didn't quite hit my usual heat zone, it was still delicious and satisfying. Overall, it's a great stop for a chill meal, friendly service, and a cool atmosphere before hitting the road. Yes, I'd come back!

Service was good and attentive! The staff were friendly, and the environment had a fun rock-and-roll vibe with a modern touch. The menu offered plenty of options -- rice entrées, ramen, and lots of specialty sushi rolls to choose from. The plating was nice, though a bit heavy on the sauces. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't quite live up to what was described on the menu. We ordered the appetizer sampler, which wasn't fresh. The wontons had a powdery texture inside -- clearly frozen cream cheese that dried out. The kitchen mentioned it was flour... but inside the wonton? That didn't make sense. The sashimi was another letdown -- very thin slices, even though the chef shaped them into a cute rose. Creative, yes, but the portion size was far too small to be called sashimi. The kids' ramen turned out to be MARUCHAN -- definitely disappointing for a $4 dish that's essentially instant noodles. After that, I wouldn't feel confident ordering the ramen from the main menu. On the bright side, the fried rice was delicious, especially with the teriyaki sauce. It's great to finally have a sushi restaurant on the far southeast side of Tucson, but the food quality needs improvement. I'd love to come back once the owner and head chef take some of this feedback to heart. There's potential here -- it just needs some refinement.

I sat at bar at 1pm and they said our system is down. Ok, fine. But apparently they can't write an order until it comes back online. Would not even serve a drink. How did restaurants survive before POS technology? I walked out after 5 minutes. They were confused. We can't get order to kitchen. Really paper works and hand it to them. System will be back up before I left. I like their food but service is lacking

I've taken one of the girls I nanny to this new sushi spot in Rita Ranch twice in one week, and I'm already planning our third visit. It's one of those places that instantly becomes a favorite -- fun, fresh, and full of personality. The entire restaurant is decorated with a rock 'n' roll theme, which is SO cute and creative. From the second you walk in, there's rock music playing, themed artwork, and fun little touches that make it feel way more special than your average lunch stop. Even the bathrooms are cheetah print and play rock music on a screen -- not only are they super clean, but they're also adorable. It's such a fun vibe all around. Now onto the food: the lunch specials are a steal. You pick one original roll and get a side of either three crab rangoons, an egg roll, or fried rice. I got the crab rangoons both times (they're crispy and packed with flavor), and switched up my rolls -- first the spicy shrimp roll, then the fried salmon roll. Both were phenomenal -- super fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. The girl I was with got the specialty roll lunch combo both times, which is about $17.99 and also comes with a side. She tried both the crab rangoons and the egg roll -- she's not usually big on crab rangoons, but even she admitted they were good. The egg roll was her favorite though! The service is always fast and friendly, and the whole restaurant is spotless. And while it's not exactly a "hidden gem" (everyone in the Vail area seems to already know about it), it still feels like a special little spot. I wish we had more restaurants like this around instead of just fast food everywhere -- it's fun, local, and actually has a theme that ties everything together. If you're anywhere near Rita Ranch, do yourself a favor and check this place out. It's fresh, fun, and totally lives up to the hype.

Opened a little over a month ago. In one of those uniquely maze-like not-a-mall malls unique in my experience to AZ. Just park by the Freddy's and look for the pink neon. Ambiance/Cleanliness-Its a brand new outpost of a 77+ location franchise...of course it's clean and shiny. The "amp stack" behind the bar is real speakers with storage for booze and stuff in the cabinets. Not huge inside, maybe 20 tables, max 10 seats at the bar...ample outdoor seating...so the view of the parking lot can be savored. 3 stars Service-could not have been better. The bartender and server were welcoming, helpful and professional. 5 stars Food-i got the fried wontons, Rock lobster roll and the Jailhouse Roll. Everything was better than i expected and prices were fair. Ingredients were quality. Of the three items, liked the Jailhouse best...its fried, but very sushi like and texture/flavors were pleasing...planning on going back and trying sashimi. 4 stars.

I was excited to try this place. It has a cool concept and some creatively rock n roll named cocktails and sushi rolls. The staff wear rock band shirts, the bar feels like a stage, and classic rock videos that I've never seen played on the TV screens. I absolutely love the decor. I was disappointed, though, not to see an actual sushi bar with sushi chefs preparing the sushi. The greeting from the host was not so warm. She said she'd be right with us and left us standing for a while while more guests arrived behind us. We tried to make room for each other to avoid crowding the entrance, which made it bit awkward. There seemed to be some drama among the staff. I also noticed that most of the sushi rolls are fried, and there was no salmon available at the time which was disappointing since I enjoy salmon rolls. That said, I did like the Axl Roll--it was the tastiest of the rolls we ordered. The cocktails were good as well.

We had a great experience tonight at this new place in Vail. Food was fresh and came out promptly. We ordered 3 rolls along with 2 appetizers. Sat outside on the patio. The only downside I would say is the music is blaring. But to be expected by the name of. service was great too

This place literally Rocks! Pun optional.. I was traveling through AZ on business and stopped in for dinner. Dang I was impressed! The VIP roll and ginger salad was delicious! Felicia was my server at the bar and she was so helpful with picking what to order. Spot on, girl! They have Rock and Roll music videos playing on all the TV's and the decor is really cool! Great ambiance. I even had a short conversation with the owner and he was very cool. The next time this Californian is in Tucson, Arizona. I will definitely be stopping here

Finally got to try Rock & Roll Sushi again. I had it a while back at a different location, so I was excited to check out this new spot. There was a short wait, maybe 10 minutes, but we were seated quickly and our waitress, Cassidy, took our order right away. She was super friendly and helpful. The interior was fun and clean, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered the appetizer sampler, Groupie Roll, Thriller Roll, Experience Roll, and the kids' ramen. The sampler was okay, but next time I'd probably just go with the pot stickers or crispy wontons on their own. The rolls were decent, and the kids' ramen broth tasted a bit watered down. Overall, it was a good visit and I'd definitely go back to try more items on the menu.

I have mixed feelings over this place. We were greeted, seated, and served by Alayna (hope I spelled your name correctly). She was wonderful all around. The atmosphere was clean and inviting. I liked the choice of music. The music was at an appropriate sound level to where it was loud, but not where I had to shout across the table to talk with my party. I had some poppers, miso soup, and the tour bus roll. The miso soup was good. The poppers were interesting because they were similar to a traditional popper, but with crab in them. They were pretty darn good. I have to be honest, I didn't care much for the tour bus roll. I thought the rice was over cooked (kind of soggy/mushy/heavy with water saturation). Other people in the party made similar comments about the rice. That being said, this place is not the worst Tucson sushi place we've been to, but not the best. I wouldn't be completely turned off from the idea of trying this place again to see if the rice was a one off thing.

Very underwhelming. I had the saddest "rainbow roll" there ever was. No shrimp. One piece of tuna, one piece of salmon and one piece of yellow tail. The inside was 85% rice. At least the rice was good. It's a very pretty restaurant and their rice did taste good but the fish was very lack luster. Emphasis on the lack. We came in with a group of 7 for a Saturday lunch. It was busy. All of our food came out randomly, starting with, sides. Then some entrees. Then apps. The kitchen was obviously overwhelmed. This is a chain restaurant so they'll probably stick around, especially since there isn't much to choose from in Santa Rita. The wontons are battered and very rich.

    Desiree B.

The sushi is good, we had the Rock Lobster roll, and it was very good. The Legend roll was very spicy but flavor full and the appetizer combo was all fried. The headbanger shrimp was amazing and the drinks were great.

This is the presentation of the food.

Surprisingly bad. I ordered the chicken and pineapple fried rice and a spicy tuna roll…read more Both were the worst I've had. The spicy tuna roll was especially strange - it had no flavor. I didn't know what I was eating. Eventually I could pick up some spiciness, but it was subtle. It was so bland and mushy, I wasn't even sure I was eating tuna. At one point I pulled a piece of the roll apart to take a closer look. I couldn't tell if it was tuna or not - I assume they use some kind of filler ingredients in addition to tuna (maybe that's normal for spicy tuna rolls, but they normally taste much better than this). The fried rice was the worst I've had, though still edible. The pineapple was strange in that it didn't taste like pineapple - I guess it wasn't ripe yet. So no pineapple flavor in the pineapple fried rice. Beyond that, the dish was bland. The unfortunate reality is that Tucson has low standards for Asian food, and shockingly bad places can stick around for years. Some of you remember Yokohama Rice Bowl, a local fast food chain, which was awful, and immediately displaced when Panda Express arrived, which is 10x better... It's too bad that Ni's isn't trying to do something great.
