Heard of this place from a foodie influencer. Finally got to check it out. It's quite a distant from us but we were on our way somewhere and decided to not go anymore and check this place out so we took the drive there. It's not as big as I thought it'd be base off the videos and photos from them. To start off, i got their jalapeno poppers for apps and my husband we thought it was pretty good. It does have a hint of spicy to it and I can handle my spice so to say that, it means it was good. I got 1 roll and my husband got 2. I got their VIP roll, my husband got one of their lobster and another one I forgot. It was a bit disappointing cause the rice used was either not cooked fully or old cause it was still kinda hard. Not sure what oil they used for deep frying but after i ate 3 poppers n 1 of my sushi, i felt sick to my stomach. not because the food was bad or the seafood was bad, it was more like because of the "deep fried" of it. Not sure how to explain that but like if you have too much fried food you get a sick feeling. Sometimes it could be cause of the oil not being filter frequently or i dont know maybe cause it was lunch time and i have not ate anything all morning. But we ended up just packing it up to go. The service was good. Friendly staff. The atmosphere was casual with old rock musics, which is my husband's kind of vibe and they have outdoor seating as well which would be nice when the weather is a lot cooler. Oh and their cups, you get to take home. It's a little souvenir from them. I think thats a great way to advertise their business, i guess. I do want to go back with my coworkers and maybe when my sister comes visit too. Will try it out again so i can try the other rolls they have and the other entrees they have. They dont only h ave sushi. they serce hibachi grill entrees and ramens. I want to get their guitar party tray so i think that'd be cool. lolz oh and one of my husband rolls has strawberry on top. from the pictures its the one with the red stuff on top. I thought from photos, it was red bell pepper or something but it wasnt. Now we have tried mangos, bananas and strawberry top sushis so far and though it sounds weird, it's actually good and it somehow works. read more

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. The wait time was incredibly long despite the restaurant not being busy. Our food arrived cold, and even after sending it back to be reheated, it still came back cold. The staff seemed unorganized and poorly trained, with no sense of direction or urgency. To make matters worse, the general manager was not present during dinner hours, which likely contributed to the lack of oversight. Overall, a very disappointing experience. read more

Brand new spot in Vail and it was actually pretty good! We went around 2pm on Saturday and it was busy but we only waited about 15min before being seated at the bar. The music wasn't too loud and it was classic rock. The music videos playing were pretty cool to watch and the bartender was friendly and attentive. We ordered the sake mule which was so refreshing and delicious! I know that sounds silly but it really hit the spot. Food wise we started with the seaweed salad and tuna tataki. Both very flavorful and beautiful to look at. For the rolls we ordered the Reggae and Rockin Lobster. Both rolls were very tasty with the fish being what you mostly tasted instead of the sauce on top. We would definitely go back here again just to get our sushi fix and so glad that Vail finally has a sushi and ramen place. read more

Not sure how to review this place, maybe I ordered the wrong thing, a bowl of ramen. The ramen was not good, it seems like there was a large amount of salt added to it. I asked the server to bring a cup of hot water to dilute it. She brought the hot water to me, but never offer to replace my defective ramen. And I am not sure if I want to go back to try their rolls after my first visit. However, my two star review is for the bad ramen experience. From start hostess seemed overwhelmed, and empty takes everywhere yet people waiting fo be seated. We sat at the bar ordered food within minutes. 40 minutes later no sushi rolls. They road us they had no rice. And said gives us 10 more minutes. It's Friday during dinner hours with. They should of let me know so I can order something else ahead of time. Good: lots of servers and good customer service. Ambiance was good. Bartender was excellent. Our waitress was excellent. Food was good. We ordered the crab wontons for an appetizer, steak hibachi for dinner. Ginger salads were fresh, dressing not watered down like so many hibachi places. Portions were all generous. We liked the white rice better than the fried rice. Bad: wait time was long & no where to wait. Food for all members of our party were not delivered at the same time. We noticed this with two other tables, also. The first person to get served ended up with cold food waiting for everyone at the table to be served. Music got turned up right before we got our food. We were looking forward to a sushi restaurant out in the Vail/Rita Ranch area, since we really enjoy sushi and have been hoping a sushi option outside of the grocery store counter would be put in out here. Unfortunately, you are better off sticking with the grocery store options. We ordered the jalapeno popper app, a California roll, a spicy tuna roll, a regae roll, and a crowd-surfer roll. Somehow every roll tasted exactly the same: like nothingness. It isn't even that there was a bad or poor flavor to the sushi, it just simply had no flavor at all. If I had eaten a piece of each roll blind, I wouldn't have been able to tell you the difference. This carried over to the jalapeno popper as well. While the jalapenos across the board (in the crowd-surfer roll and poppers) had absolutely no heat (which, that's luck of the draw, so we get that), the poppers, like the rolls, tasted like nothing. The krab sticks had no flavor, the cream cheese just tasted like paste. As a whole, the food was a major bummer and confirms that we will continue driving into town when we want to have sushi. The service was also concerning. While our server seemed nice, he disappeared and we couldn't find him. Considering the space is super small, that was weird. We never got any drink refills at all, didn't have enough plates for the party, and received 2 napkins for three people. He did eventually appear long after our food had arrived so we could get another plate, but with the size of the space, it was really confusing. They also had no chopsticks. We were told they were out, which happens, but ultimately was the icing on top of what was a bad experience, since we had 2 forks between 3 people. Small clean and cute spot with outdoor dining. No fan or mist. 3 groups were ahead of us and 2 of the groups including us were waiting outside to get indoor seating. It went quickly. Friendly service. Several screens playing music videos of great rock songs. We went for the ramen and sushi. They ran out of ingredients to make the ramen so we ordered sushi. We were told they ran out of wasabi also. We were told this after we ordered and received the sushi. That was disappointing. We were told they were not prepared for the onslaught of customers since they opened and their delivery truck was running late. Is it worth a try again ? All of our food quality was top-notch however, this is my Second dining in within five months and the food for our table on both occasions never comes out at the same time. I ordered a very simplistic chicken bowl with rice and vegetables, and it literally came out 10 minutes after two sushi rolls and a bowl of Ramen for others in our party of three. Server doesn't need to tell me why my dish cannot be served at the same time as my other guests. I did let our server know what my concern was once she delivered my meal and I said the manager needs to know. We never saw that manager. I was extremely hopeful and excited to try the first sushi spot in the Rita ranch /Vail area. Sadly, Rock N Roll Sushi missed the mark. I stopped in for a small snack while waiting for an oil change. The vibe of the restaurant was fun with classic rock playing on the TV's with old music videos and live performances. I was quickly sat at the bar, and the pleasant bartender took my order right away and had my drink in no time. The menu was an eclectic mix of traditional sushi and their speciality rolls. I ordered a bowl of spicy edamame and fresh salmon sashimi. My order came out pretty fast, the only thing missing were the chop sticks and napkins. I also noticed that the traditional complimentary Miso soup you'd expect was absent. The portions of both the edamame and sashimi were good. The edamame was so so with more than a few that were clearly bad. I wasn't impressed with the visual presentation of the sashimi. It looked more like a salad with all the lettuce than a sashimi dish. The slices of sashimi were very dry and didn't seem fresh at all. Something I've never had an issue with before was the ginger. It appeared to be chopped in very small pieces and was not easy to eat to cleanse the pallet. Overall, my first impression was not so good. I might give it another try and try a roll. But for now Fry's offers a better option in the Rita area. read more

Great food I highly suggest the punk rock roll if you dont know what to get. Service was a little lack luster, my parents asked for extra sauce, didn't get it, asked for extra plates, didn't get it. Music is good and brings a good vibe but I wish they would've chosen a bigger lot for the business. Its the first sushi place in Rita Ranch so naturally its always busy and well, there arent many tables. Tables are kind of squished together as well so if youre sat next to a full table youre guarenteed to be pretty close. Cool to-go boxes though theyre reusable plastic. I also like that the service team has a cool dresscode rather than everyone in the same uniform. Service team was also very nice despite my father being his usual self making awkward dad jokes to them. As a doordasher though, it kind of sucks how small the entry way is, because if there is a line, youre definitely getting squished in the 4x4 entryway. There is also no clear place for online order pickup which blends online orders with eat-in line and makes it difficult to get in and out if you're not waiting for a table. Had to grab someones attention and ask where I should be and didn't get a response on that she just asked what order I was there for and got it to me so I avoid this restraunt on doordash unless its high paying. -1 star simply for the size of the restaurant honestly. read more

Surprisingly good! Service was good, and the rolls were pretty fresh and tasty. I liked the use of sweet chili sauce on the Good Times roll - it added a lot of flavor! I also thought the strawberry, avocado, cucumber, and jalapeño salsa that came on top of the Punk Rock roll was a unique touch. I would order the roll without cream cheese next time, though, as I feel the cream cheese overpowered the flavor of the salsa. The Jalapeño poppers were crispy and came with a spicy mayo type sauce that complimented them well. I feel that some of these recent bad reviews may be judging too harshly, or perhaps went on a bad day since they're just starting out. This isn't the best sushi in Tucson, but if you want some good rolls, I think it's fine - especially for the location. Rita Ranch lacks diversity of food options outside of fast food, so I am glad they opened here. If you had a bad experience here, maybe try again in a few weeks after they've made it through their growing pains. read more

For a place that doesn't serve all you can eat, I'm highly disappointed. I ordered a takeout order today and what I got was very disappointing. First of all, the place was empty and there were probably 5 guests, I ordered 2 rolls and it took 25 minutes. The staff in the back where the sushi was were just laughing and messing around for 25 whole minutes. When I got the rolls to eat in my car for a quick lunch, the rice was very hard and old on BOTH rolls. I ordered the eel roll & the rainbow roll. The rainbow roll was the saddest rainbow roll I have ever seen. The fish didn't taste fresh at all and I paid $26 for 2 rolls and it just seems like it's not worth that. I will not be coming back to this establishment at all. This is not an authentic spot and I'm Asian and have been eating sushi for a really long time & I love sushi so much so they lost a good customer. I will say though, the lady in the front was very nice and friendly but other than that I have nothing good to say about this place, and I don't even want to give it 1 star. Definitely does not deserve the hype that it gets. I would've rather bought sushi from Safeway. Folks in vail, just make the drive into town because there are amazing sushi places in town. Our waitress checked on our table maybe once, the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other speak and they definitely packed those tables together where it's hard to get around. Promising but needs improvement. The atmosphere is nice, but the wait times were tough -- we waited over an hour and only received one roll before leaving. We also saw several other parties walk out, likely due to the delays. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and service came across rushed at times. That said, the food we did get was fresh and tasty. With better kitchen organization and training, this place could be great. I'll give it another try in the future, but they need to work on consistency first. Visited for the first time a couple months after they opened. We were greeted upon entering and sat down immediately. Things went bad after that. We decided to get most of our food to go since it was a little late for us. Told server we wanted the appetizer for here and main dinner to go. Appetizer was less that good and rice cake over cooked. When to go order came out, first the salad was not packed to go. Told server it was to go and she just looked at us for a few seconds and didn't say anything. My spouse finally said just leave it and she said ok and left. Really! Then the rest of main came to table not packed to go. The same server looked and said "was this supposed to go also". Then took food away and after approximately 10 minutes, brought back the food packed. This should have only taken 2 minutes max. Seems like they have some growing pains and communication issues to work through. Bottom line, the food was too salty and not worth the price paid. I read more

We happened to be on the east side of Tucson for an appointment and decided to stop in to check it out. We were really impressed with the place overall! Very cute Rock N Roll decor, music playing, rock videos on the screens, created a very fun atmosphere. I ordered the lobster roll, while my partner went for the chicken rice bowl. The food was fantastic, and our server, Felicia made our experience amazing. She never let our drinks empty, had great menu recommendations, and was overall extremely attentive without being annoying- which is a talent that many servers cannot grasp. Ok, so I know this place just opened and there are bound to be some kinks that need worked out, but I felt compelled to write a review after how bad our experience was. We were very excited to finally have a sushi place nearby but now I seriously doubt whether we even give this place a second try. We ordered two sushi rolls, yellowfin sashimi, the appetizer platter, and one combo hibachi. The hibachi was over salted and overpriced for what we got. The only thing on the appetizer platter that we liked was the eggroll...the wontons and jalapeño poppers were undercooked and lacked flavor, and they were out of potstickers. The rolls and sashimi might have been ok if it wasn't for the fact that they were out a wasabi?!? How can a sushi place be out of wasabi also out of ramen and who know what else. Went for the first time today. Waitress was excellent, they were slammed for being newly open this week, but she handled it like a pro. Menu was very detailed. The rock n roll music videos and guitars on the wall really gives this place their name. We ordered jalapeño poppers which were phenomenal! Along with ramen, hibachi bowl, and the British Invasion roll and Jam Sesh roll. Both were very filling and tasteful. Probably a lot of food for lunch so we definitely had leftovers. read more

I was there last night and the food was good however the service was not. We sat outside and ended up moving inside to the bar since it was cold. No one had come out to the table for the time we were outside. When we went inside to the bar we waited at least 10 minutes before having to ask the bartender if we could order and at the time 3 people were behind the bar with no customers at the bar. He had someone else take our order. My salad came out and I had to ask for silverware. I got my mixed drink but had to ask again for waters. The atmosphere was nice and food was good but probably won't be back because of the service. read more
