Ambiance/Cleanliness-with the feel of a hotel bar meets lower level mall Mexican restaurant, the ambiance is severely lacking. It's clean...enough. 3 stars Service-Falls down flat...forgotten silverware, having to ask for drink refills, not BAD per se, just below average. 2 stars Food....When good, it's pretty good...slightly above average. The Big Daddy burrito I had yesterday with machaca would have been EXCELLENT, but the tortilla sucked...dry and crumbly....this leads to observation that attention to detail fails. 3 stars It's not a place I avoid, but one that I don't look forward to. read more

Two words: elote dip. YUM. That and the salsa is what keeps me coming back. The portions are good sized - you're not going to leave hungry. How is this place still in service? Food is terrible, bland and overpriced. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was horrible. My family had the tacos and the ground beef is bland. The prices are insane it's literally tacos from a kit you can get from the grocery store. This was the worst food experience I've had since coming to Tucson lol seriously save your money. They don't serve salsa verde but the waitress said she could give me green enchilada sauce instead lol whaaaaaat? Also I'm pretty sure the waitress was embarrassed because she would not make eye contact and basically placed things on our table and ran away. They charge for sour cream even though the sour cream was the saving grace of the tacos which my husband couldn't even finish. It's always a red flag when that man can't finish his plate. read more

We've driven by a number of times and finally decided to try it out. Overall it was pretty good. Salsa is very good. Tamale fell apart but had decent flavor. Wife didn't like the chili relleno because the egg was burnt and tasted like the flat top. Chili inside was good though. Wife had a margarita and was happy with it. We ordered the green chili big boy burrito with "green chili" sauce on top. The sauce was very sub par because it tasted weird. Hardly any beef. More of a bean burrito than anything. Margaritas lack tequila. Had to order an extra shot of tequila. I wouldn't recommend this place. There are MUCH better. It's a wanna be Mexican food restaurant. read more

Second time here and food was average. Ordered their special: birria tacos with rice & beans. Birria was a bit salty, rice tasted old, and beans were average. Service was friendly, but definitely slow. My husband had their enchiladas and enjoyed those with their crema sauce. Their salsa and chips were good, too, but i prefer something a liie more spicy. This restaurant was halfway between us and some friends of ours, so we decided to meet for supper there, although none of us had eaten there before. We started with complimentary chips and salsa while we looked through the menu. They have a good menu with many delicious sounding meals. I chose the green chili hamburger. They were able to substitute sourdough bread for the bun, and I picked the side salad rather than the fries. The burger was tasty and juicy, the sourdough bread fried to be crispy, and the salad fresh with lots of cheese on top. I enjoyed it all. My dining companions all enjoyed their meals as well--chicken quesadilla, carne asada tacos, and chicken enchiladas. We all agreed we would definitely go back again. read more

Starting with the positives - the service here was fast and friendly. The atmosphere is certainly authentic Mexican restaurant fare. However, the food is just bland and generic. To echo other reviews, the chips and salsa were plain and not enjoyable. The shredded beef taco/cheese enchilada lunch combo was lacking in flavor, although the portions were good sizes. The rice and beans were also very uninspiring and just stuff on a plate. I would not recommend the food here. One other negative is the $1.50 charge for using a credit card. However, the service staff were very nice and attentive. read more

At the recommendation of the desk host at my hotel this is where dinner was eaten greeted at the door by the hostess and lead to a table, next came the fresh chips and a smokey salsa with just tge right amiunt of flavors & smoke to make your tastebuds to want more. The dinner was very good and filled all the empty places. A clean playe was the final review with some ice tea to top it off myself. I dined in at El Coronado on a Thursday early afternoon. I hadn't been here in years because the last time few previous visits, the service was incredibly slow. The restaurant wasn't full, maybe 15 people total. Nice ambiance and clean. It took a server about 10 minutes to take our drink order. I ordered a margarita and my guest ordered a soda. It took about another 15 minutes to get our drinks and be asked to order food. The food took an additional 30 minutes after ordering to get. The margarita was great! I got a taco salad and it was great too! I forgot to take a picture of my food because I was too busy eating. If you don't mind waiting awhile on service/food, you will enjoy this place. Maybe getting a to go order would be better in the future. read more

I ordered a combination plate and overall the food was good. The restaurant was clean and we were seated right away. The area that I felt kept them from 5 stars was probably the speed of service. They were the pre-made kind you buy at the store. Taste like cardboard. I am going to go back to give them a chance to redeem themselves. The food came and both my wife's and my dinner was akin to what you might expect at a cafeteria. There was no love or care involved in the preparation or presentation of the food. This place has a very nice atmosphere, it was busy but not noisy, very clean, great service and the food was so delicious! I ordered the shredded beef chimi plate. I was able to get both red and green sauce. The tortilla wrapping had a wonderful crispiness and the meat was so flavorful, I didn't even need to add on the sour cream and guacamole for extra flavor. I really liked the patio seating area too. I highly recommend this family owned restaurant. read more

I have not tried the food, but visited during a delivery. The staff and or management were inviting and it seems like a great place to hang out, just for chips and salsa and beer. This is the spot for Taco Tuesday!! They are loaded and filling. Drive thru is always quick and service is always good! The hot sauce is fire and addicting haha. It's not a big location and you can walk up and order or drive thru, no sit down. If you're near here grab some tacos, they are big and greasy but so so good! read more

It's ok. Nothing exciting! We ate there for dinner. Service was good and people were nice. Food was just average. I got the 3 chicken enchiladas and I wanted to try all three sauces. They said they could do each one a different sauce. But instead of doing that, they put each sauce on all the enchiladas. So I really couldn't get the full taste. Oh well. The chicken was very chewy and did not have any flavor. My husband got the chimichanga and he said the same. The beans were good and the rice was over cooked and had a very cumin flavor. read more

We have been here for breakfast a few times and it has been a highlight to our morning. The chorizo and eggs were savory- a little bit of heat to go with the creaminess of the eggs was a perfect accent to the dish. Hubby loved the breakfast burrito with bacon.
