I got the help I needed with people who cared. 9/10. The nurses were kind the only downside was the food it wasn't great at all...

This facility is refusing to listen to or understand my daughter's actual needs. My daughter is actively seeking further treatment and already has a bed available at another facility. We have explained repeatedly that she needs to be evaluated to ensure she is safe and medically appropriate to continue with that treatment, yet we continue to be asked why she was brought here. Instead of working with us and the receiving facility to protect her continuity of care, we are being told she may be kept here for 8-10 days. Meanwhile, billing has already sent paperwork estimating approximately $7,000 for an eight-day stay. It is extremely concerning when the proposed length of hospitalization does not appear to reflect the reason she was sent here or her established treatment plan. I am also concerned about the repeated attempts to put her back on medications she has previously tried and that were not effective for her. Treatment should be individualized and based on her history, current condition, and actual needs--not simply repeating medications that have already failed. My daughter is asking for help. She was receiving help. She has an opportunity to continue receiving that help, and this hospitalization is now putting her available bed and continuity of treatment at risk. As her parent, I want her safety taken seriously, but I also expect the treatment team to listen to her, communicate with her existing providers, consider her previous treatment history, and work toward the appropriate level of care. Right now, it feels less like the focus is on what will actually help my daughter and more like she is simply being held on a unit and offered medications without anyone addressing the treatment plan that is already in place for her. Families deserve transparency about why continued inpatient hospitalization is medically necessary, what specific criteria must be met for discharge, and why transferring her to the facility prepared to continue her treatment is not being pursued. read more

Sorry for the length. I recently accompanied my mother to a behavioral health center to drop off supplies for a loved one who is receiving care there. Unfortunately, our experience with the front desk was disappointing. The front desk employee, Tara J., was rather rude and dismissive when explaining the process for dropping off belongings for patients. I understand that there are policies and procedures that need to be followed, but there is still a way to communicate those expectations with compassion, patience, and empathy. You would hope that a behavioral health facility would place a strong emphasis on those qualities, especially when interacting with family members who are already going through a difficult situation. I truly hope the patients receiving care at this facility are being treated with the compassion, patience, and understanding they deserve. Unfortunately, based on our experience at the front desk, we left feeling as though we were an inconvenience rather than family members simply trying to provide support and supplies to someone we care about. I was hospitalized here for 8 days at the end of July, and this was easily the worst medical experience I've ever had. I didn't see a doctor for the first 3 days. When I asked to leave to seek proper care, they filed court paperwork to keep me there. My approved vegetarian diet (ordered day one) was not honored. Every single meal I was told "you're vegan" and that my request needed approval--then asked for my name to "check if it was ordered." This happened daily. I would sit through most of the meal time with nothing, only to be given scraps like an old PB&J, a plain vegetarian patty, or lettuce with a packet of ranch. Other patients even noticed and spoke up because of how poorly I was treated. When I asked for the correct food, staff talked about me loudly and disrespectfully within earshot, and I felt mocked. I only saw my assigned caseworker once, yet my family was told I was being seen regularly. Most concerning were safety issues--another patient's vitals were charted under my name, and I was given blood pressure medication despite already having very low blood pressure. Disorganized staff, poor communication, and basic care were lacking. Patients deserve far better than this. I would strongly caution anyone considering this facility. But at least you can rely on being billed for care that you didn't receive and food that you never got to eat. this place is nothing but a insurance scam. read more

Do NOT bring your child to this facility. Very short staffed and the staff that we encountered, Shelly, Gina, and Michael fed us lies about the time we would be received, although my daughter had an incident and had just been brought by stretcher to this facility after her ER hold at BSW, bc they're within network and we were scrambling; we called rock springs to have her seen and potentially admitted hours in advance so that her transition would be as smooth as possible: hours in advance! by the time she arrived by stretcher they brought us to a dirty small room and ended up waited over 3 hours in a cold small room w one chair for our very precious daughter that needed rest immediately: they kept telling us 30 more minutes, 30 more minutes. After a full grown man in handcuffs was brought in and taken back and the screams we were hearing, my husband and I decided we had changed our mind and wanted to get her home and try for another place in the morning: our gut told us to get our daughter out of there: we politely said we are leaving and to please unlock the doors so we could leave: Michael, who could barely speak English indeed told us her room was ready don't leave they needed 5 more minutes: yeah right lol we left with our daughter and placed her in our bed at home where she slept next to me all night: the next morning we took her to dell children's where she will be staying regardless of the cost, I would never have taken her to rock springs in the first place if I had read these heartbreaking scary reviews before hand, but we were in a bit of a state of panic and they were within network and close to our home. Gina the red hair dyed nurse NEVER Came to look at our daughter or even made eye contact although she walked past 3 or 4 times. her presence had a very stuck up, sassy, selfish and rude aura. Michael, might be new to the United States from Nigeria, i can't really tell by his heavy accent, and is definitely new to the facility, as he seemed to have no clue what was going on: Shelly the supervisor of intake I can only assume, although she seemed over worked and exhausted handed us paperwork that was nearly 5 years old, saying that her schedule would be "kinda like this" like what? Seriously? These are children's lives we are talking about here: get up to date; clean your facility; hire people who want to be in the field, and be professional: that's not asking a lot: to make matters worse. These fools called CPS on my husband and said we were denying our daughter the care she needed: so on top of the stressors of our daughters suicide attempt we had to deal with a CPS investigation during our already time of crisis. CPS without our knowledge then pulled our 11 yr old son from school the next day to ask questions and was thankfully unable to reach our other middle daughter that same day. The CPS worker then came to the current hospital, DELL Children's to speak with our troubled daughter who is not feeling her best, prodded more nosey nonsense questions and had to ask her another round of exhausting questions: thankfully Elizabeth, the very bright enthusiastic CPS agent we were placed with opened up and even thought it was ridiculous and told us herself she has heard TERRIBLE stories about Rock Springs and told us she doesn't blame us one bit for scooping our daughter up and getting her the hell out of that place: the CPS case thankfully will be open and shut. God was with us that night and always, and we trusted our parental guts and instincts. I decided to write this negative yelp; the first I have ever written in my life, bc | feel w every ounce in me that if you're a mother or father who was in our position, scared and confused and in a whirlwind of being blindsided by teen depression and suicide, to know this at the very least: Do NOT take your child to ROCK SPRINGS : just don't: I hope soon Rock springs can hire better nurses who aren't self obsessed and uncaring in the least other than with her caked on makeup, fake lashes, nails and hair dye and crappy attitude to boot.. I was out in here due to a doctor mistaking what I said. I said two words, "I'm done". Next thing I know three huge cops show up and haul me off to this place. Rather than asking questions like, "What did you mean?" They assumed I was suicidal. Which I was not. I was tired of my medical condition. But no one asked. I was stripped searched, humiliated and embarrassed. I felt like I was in prison. Then when I finally talked with a psychiatrist he said he was going to go with what the cops said. So my word meant nothing. I was in there for six days. While most of the staff was nice, the doctors were not. People, hear me clearly, watch what you say to doctors and cops. Or you may end up here. This hospital pretends to care for patients. They do not listen to the patients at all and treat them like cabbages without any agency whatsoever. If you or a loved one experience serious mental illness contact a therapist instead who can directly refer to a psychiatric nurse practitioner or psychiatrist directly rather than being placed in what may fairly be construed as prison. Beware: Do not ever go here/send anyone here. This is the ABSOLUTE worst place (Meadows Unit) I've ever been in my entire lifetime. Rock Springs has the most flagrantly abysmal, lack of Quality of Care, Ethics, Business Conduct, and Professionalism I could ever even fathom. This appears to be a top-down trickle effect from leadership to lower echelons in the organizational structure. My Patient Bill of Rights, which I wasn't given a copy of until I asked for one several days in, was violated several times: One example: I was restricted from making calls after I called the Patient advocate line excessively, which was a misunderstanding of my intentions, I was not getting a response so I called and left a few messages so I would be heard - that never happened. Second example: I was unlawfully detained for a total of 13 days, as to which I should've been made aware of my options and should have been discharged. Also, my necessary medical equipment to which I was given restricted access to be used punitively against me after I ruffled the feathers of The Good Old Boys and Girls Club. I do admit I stooped down and lost my temper a couple of times with employees under great anguish, but I subsequently apologized profusely. I was constantly abused mentally, verbally, and emotionally - with employees, both male and female regularly yelling at me for no apparent reason, including a male behavioral tech who got into my face and attempted to rip my medical equipment out of my hands one night. Despite trying my best to be a good faith contributor, I was treated like a pariah. This occurred with a Psychiatric Dr., Nurses, Counselors, and Techs. The only reason I was able to withstand the emotional and mental health impact of this Fiasco was my previous hard work on Trauma & becoming Trauma informed which is done continually in long term sobriety & recovery. Nobody should ever be treated like this, the stigma of struggling with Mental Health is already hard enough without being bullied and antagonized by the people who are supposed to provide you with quality care. There were many Employees pretending to be doing work, yet had their eyes glued to their personal cell phones, and you had to speak up several times to even be acknowledged - this happened day and night. This is extremely odd in a healthcare setting. Also, many times, the employees contributed to the disruptive nature of the noise level, which was already loud, by also being loud and cuttin' up, complete lack of respect and consideration for patients. I had to push ear plugs all the way in. There were fist fights that ignited right next to me, and I had to run down the hall to avoid. I had clothing and personal products either disappear from petty theft or go missing for reasons unknown to me - one time an employee helped find an outfit, but I was blown off when I asked about it. Once, I was the subject of unwanted physical touch by another patient; I'm not sure if a report was made, although I did tell a Tech, nobody ever followed up with me. This was an absolutely harrowing experience. Upon discharge, I need extra time to recover just from the time spent at Rock Springs. I jumped through every hoop, followed every direction given for medication, drank water, ate meals, and maintained good blood pressure through coping mechanisms. The carrot dangling kept moving and I was subject to indifference or gaslighting. I was only trying to get home to my Son, however I was a self-pay due to my insurance not having Rock Springs in network: to which I can only presume due to my keen business acumen: I was left to languish and continued to be strung along, for a lengthy stay, to be bilked for extra cash at a for profit, private facility. Note: There were a few good techs/nurses/counselors. The food was actually surprisingly amazing: The French cook (I can't think of her name) and Miss Shakinah - awesome Southern cooking. I'm still in shock a facility like this exist and is able to illegally operate. If you want to experience no food or water for 24 hours, false imprisonment , being held against your will for days/ weeks on end, no civil rights, false diagnosis, addictive medication being offered/ forced in an effort to keep patients, insurance scam, little to zero communication, made up rules/ guidelines, avoid at all cost. Anyone who has had the displeasure and trauma subsequent to any interaction from or with this facility should immediately find legal representation (outside of the county) that is clearly working to fund the buckets of money wasted on this "hospital". The Indian doctor is horrible, the elderly doctor is totally exceptional. The nurse with the white hair is the most loving and kind individual I've ever met in my life. The techs are all very good also. But make sure you take your meds with you because I went one time and didn't bring any medications with me and they said I was not in this system! Like what does that mean I've been on psychiatric meds for over 30 years. I said please call my pharmacy which is local. But they did not do that. I am at RN and I admitted my husband who is a dying man from a brain condition to get help for depression and suicidal thoughts. First of all they did not protect anybodys safety on the unit they put him on which is a lockdown unit for people who have said they're going to kill themselves because they actually left his shoestrings in his shoes for three days which is a big risk management issue as anyone could've harmed or killed themselves using them which is why it's protocol to remove them! As far as the nursing staff goes they refuse to return phone calls and they refuse to listen to the patients who are prescribe any meds "as needed" because when they ask for them they are not given! I actually had to remove my husband from inpatient care as he was safer with me at home then he was on their lockdown unit! He had multiple seizures which were not documented and the staff are glorified babysitters who could care less about the people they're supposedly treating! The Heroes program is amazing, but the business office, specifically Jennifer, has no compassion whatsoever. I get that they are a for profit hospital, but they have went to the patient every day demanding money. He's there for a reason and has no access to accounts. And when did I talk to her she told me that everyone is able to pay half of their bill when they leave. Might be true if you have Medicaid or Medicare or even regular insurance like ours, which have claims being appealed right now. This place was horrible. I was given a medication that made me pass out and I had to go to the ER. They harass you to pay the medical bill, and don't care about the patients. I wouldn't recommend this hospital at all. They also have generic shampoo and body wash and didn't have a soap dispenser or hand sanitizer in the room. I felt like the floor was always dirty and generally didn't seem clean. The food in the cafeteria was also disappointing and you had to bring the coffee creamer back to the unit because they were always out. read more

We went in for an assessment and 5 1/2 hours later I decided this was not the place for my 16 year old, I wanted to take him elsewhere. Monday Evening a young man mustered up strength and courage to check himself into Rocksprings around 8:30pm... at 2:30am they determined they did not have a bed for him and kicked him out. He had no insurance but just enough savings to self pay. He has not been able to return for HELP This is the mental health level.of care Rocksprings provides... it is Criminal and Negligent... he had a ride there then when they kicked hom out at 2 30am.... they called Gt PD to give him a ride. When his Mom found out next day and called.. Rocksprings tried to tell her He refused to stay... little did the gal know that Mom had already gotten word from.the police report that there was not a bed... Bad, bad move Rocksprings. The worst experience I have ever been through. I have never felt so dehumanized. Therapy was psychobabble handouts. Food was inedible. Population is not well separated so patients who are seriously mentally ill are in same unit as behavioral patients. They told people they were getting released then cancelled it without reason. We never got our phone messages from family left on their phones with the right "codes." The beds are horrible, like sleeping on a board with a towel for a pillow. I share this review so that people who truly need help, like my family member, do not waste their time or money!! We we're referred to this facility for a minor who needed inpatient care. I don't even know where to start with all the issues we had with this facility. Lack of communication, and honestly complete neglect or incompetence by the practitioners who are the people who are assessing and supposed to be deciding on a plan of care for the patients. Our family member was in the facility for 6 days, and after hours of phone calls, messages left, and useless conversations with people who had no answers, we finally reached someone who apologized to us and informed us that there was no record for a plan of care for our family member. AFTER 6 DAYS, and also that we would still need to sign them out against medical advice, thus threatening lack of payment from Our insurance company. My family member was also given food that was stated VERY clearly that he was allergic too, and proceeded to have an allergic reaction. Then tried to blame him for not "warning them". This is just a few of the issues that happened at this facility. I could go on! At the end of the day my family member did not get the assessment that was critically needed nor the treatment he deserved! Unless things are Changed at this facility. Skip this place, it is horrific. All the other reviews are true, some of which I too experienced. Do NOT send your loved ones here. They lack compassion and any sort of quality of care. Trying to navigate a place like this when you're not feeling great (the reason you're there to begin with) is really, really hard. They will not advocate for you and the rules are different depending who is on shift. The staff were WILDLY unprofessional from the time I was admitted until the very time I left. One staff member called the hospital "a crazy hospital" while another talked about going out getting drunk and "turnt up." This same person used their phone during group while we were told we needed to be engaged etc. Ok, one more time, DO NOT SEND YOU LOVED ONES TO THIS HOSPITAL. I greatly improved with PHP and IOP from Austin Oaks Hospital and would recommend those programs based on my experience. read more

I went to Rock Springs twice for both mental health & detox. I enjoyed my time there both times. The whole staff was great, especially Elzbeth, one of the therapists there. The negative part is I got some blood work done when there in late January & still have not gotten the results back, which includes answers on a life threatening disease. they did claim to have mailed it to me since I am living in another state now. BUT that was 3 weeks ago & i have not received anything. i have been calling & leaving messages that have never been answered. very unorganized & very unhelpful. read more

Walking into to this place was somewhat relaxing until, I was immediately turned off by the loud interns that were laughing and joking in the entrance area! Isn't this suppose to be a place to relax and get yourself better???!!! Did not appreciate the loud and high school atmosphere that was in the lobby, and especially how young the interns were makes me second guess that this place will be good for anyone to recover. Why do u have your employees discussing work stuff around new patients that are checking in, don't yall have a work area or break room where people can meet???!!! In the twenty years that I have been under psychiatric care, I've had the pleasure of living in almost a dozen hospitals for at least a week or two. I've endured some one-star institutionalizations in my day (Austin State Hospital, in the house). Rock Springs is not a one-star hospital. Anyone who thinks it is has led a very lucky life indeed. The majority of your time on a mental ward is spent in the care not of doctors and nurses but staff whose job it is to ensure you are safe. The staff at Rock Springs is full-on exceptional. Their job is largely thankless, as it entails making lawless people follow rules. Somehow they manage to treat patients as people, with kindness and light-hearted compassion. Nobody likes losing their liberty, regardless of how insane they might be. In the care of this staff, the experience is at least bearable and sometimes even a tiny bit worthwhile. Many places manage patient safety through restriction and deprivation: no bras with underwire, no belts or shoelaces; access to toiletries/phone/snacks only at scheduled times; no smoking. Etc. At Rock Springs, the staff's primary purpose is to give you as much liberty and normalcy as possible through careful oversight and attention. You get a hairdryer. You can use tweezers and even shave your legs. If your roommate stays up all night arguing with herself and turning the lights on and off, they'll move you without even making you ask for the favor. They are willing to see the humor in your situation. It's pretty awesome. I had some issues with the administration of this place, it's true. They should tell you when you're checking in if they're out of your provider network--that's just polite. And the billing office could not make its processes more confusing or difficult if they tried. I did spend a long time figuring billing issues out, one hell of a job for someone who just last week could only refer to herself in the third person. But in the end all was well. Rock Springs is out of network for me and no closer than Laurel Ridge, another great care provider down in San Antonio that does take my insurance. Still, crazies can't always be choosers. Next time I lose my mind on the north end of town, I hope Rock Springs has a bed ready for me and waiting. read more

My wife is being held against her will at Rock Springs Behavioral Health in Georgetown, Texas. She has been retaliated against by the staff for filing the following complaints. 1. After being threatened by her first roommate, her roommate urinated on my wife's hygiene items. 2. Another patient there forcefully grabbed her arm and began speaking to her tattoos as if they were people. The staff ignored my wife's signals of discomfort and needing help. 3. A staff member refused to give her her hearing aids and refused to charge them for her. 4. The "doctor" that is overseeing her case had her release form voided for "safety reasons" after she had already signed it and the therapist threatened legal action against her if she wouldn't comply with what the doctor wanted. 5. The staff had the air conditioning in her room turned off, my wife has stated that it is well over 80° in her room as of ten minutes ago. None of the staff from any of the other shifts know what is going on. There aren't any changeover notes that are being issued. None of the staff were aware of what my wife has been experiencing. The staff members that I have spoken to have told Ashley, her mother, and myself 3 very different accounts of how they're "handling" the issues and what her release date actually is. My wife voluntarily had her self admitted on Monday August 24th, 2020. It is now well over 72 hours. They will not let her go despite her stating every day that she does not have homicidal or suicidal ideations. There are 5 pages worth of negative reviews of this facility. DO NOT GO HERE. *3 MONTHS LATER* ALSO THEY COMMIT INSURANCE FRAUD HERE. WIFE STAYED FOR 6 DAYS AND DESPITE PAYING THE COPAY TO GET HER IN TO THIS SHIT HOLE THEY HIT US A BILL THAT WAS A COUPLE THOUSAND DOLLARS. read more

Absolute nightmare. Lure you in like car salesmen(their own staff says this too). Voluntary check in was not voluntary in the least. Rules/guidelines changed almost instantly to where I could not check myself out. Dr. McClung should have his listened revoked or retire. He's out of touch with reality. I felt like a prisoner. Don't waste your time or money at this place. Was interested in the outpatient program, until I realized that their staff clearly doesn't even care about the wellbeing of their patients. When I was taking my assessment, the nurse and therapist were both careless and rude in their demeanor. They treat you as if you're just another problem walking in, don't listen to your problems, and then expect you to pay $1500+. The worst part? I asked for some sort of excuse for work, and the "therapist", simply tore a page from my assessment that detailed some very personal information in regards to why I was there and said "this should be good enough". Like I really want my job to know about my mental health issues??? This place and staff members are a complete joke, so save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else!!! read more

I swear to God that everything I am saying is true, for my experience. So much going on here I don't even know where to start. Drill sergeant-like nurses (not EVERY) Who love nothing better than to leave you standing at the front desk needing something and ignoring you. potentially scary roommates who belong on another unit and need a deeper level of care, and it takes an act of Congress just to get one small scratchy white towel, women are left with no dignity because they cannot even shave their legs using an electric shaver and doing it in front of someone. If you are admitted unexpectedly, you don't have that stuff but you can't use it anyway.Constant mixups and confusion. Someone, who claimed no responsibility for it, wrote out my medication list in a nice little neat notebook. When I showed it to the nurses, they were either dumbfounded or pretended to be dumbfounded. They had no idea whose writing it was ( VERY ODD) and it took days for whatever list I had to match theirs. Mayhem. They make you think they have psychiatrists but they only have one. And how could he be that good working there?The other person, whom I actually liked, was not a psychiatrist. Not an MD. Please make sure you understand that in mental health, only a psychiatrist is a doctor of medicine and went to medical school. I thought I liked what he was doing but when I showed it to my outside psychiatrist he was pretty much like WTF? This dude's idea of weaning me from a very powerful pill, was too drastic and too fast. I can't even begin to describe how I was feeling by the time I got home. In terrible, rapid withdrawal. From vomiting to feeling caged. Withdrawal doesn't even cut it. I do get why they have to leave the rooms unlocked but in a couple of situations of women in other rooms, I felt unsafe. Oh did I say that already? I was a rookie at a place like this so it was pretty scary for me, certainly at first . I did get an awesome roommate though, after one night with someone who was too FAR GONE to be in that unit. She was hauled away. luck that I got a new, awesome roomie! I promise you, at check out they absolutely cannot wait to get you out now that they have money from you. Strip your bed (you), pack your things for you because they don't trust you to do THAT, you name it. I know it is a for-profit place and I know they have to get heads in beds. But the one nurse handling that on my discharge day was absolutely hideously bordering on cruel. I wish she had known how to speak clearly and intelligently. I enjoyed group therapy sessions but there was absolutely no individual therapy. None. So now I'm handling that here on the outside. I met some amazing people and I know they will be friends for life. The food for the most part is not gross. Some of it is just OK, some of it is downright good. You can bet that the outdoor smoke breaks were run like clockwork, whereas half the time the daily schedule for everything else had very few things running on time. I don't even know what to say. What's really scary is, it's probably the best place around. Do with this all what you will. Sorry, one more thing. I had a small cough and a little sort of tickle in my chest. The nurse said to me, I don't know what a tickle is, snotty voice. Then before I knew it I was on an EKG machine. Another really nice patient had a massive panic attack right by the nurses station and when it was over was he hooked up to anything? No. I could tell they were freaking out and thinking I had Covid, which I didn't. They were too stupid to be subtle about it. Then the next day my fake psychiatrist asked (I feel guilty about that because he was really nice) me how the cough was. It was gone. Then he tells me if I'm still coughing later tell someone because I might have to go to the hospital. Yeah that's really gonna get me to tell them anything. It's all about liability and covering ass. A few nurses were really sweet but I was suspicious even of them by the time my stay ended. I once was dumb enough to tell one nurse, just one, that I felt a little bit nauseated and that it was probably withdrawal. Next thing I know people to whom I had not told were asking, how is your nausea? I had no idea who these people were. And trust me it was not out of concern. They are supposed to help you, but you kind of have to keep your mouth shut about how you really feel. Or they freak out. I could go on and on but you get the idea. Aside from having a lot of laughs with some new friends, which I needed, I feel like I am coming out worse than when I went in. That was an awfully expensive way to meet some people. read more

When I first got to Rock Springs I was told that I would be released in 3 days. The reason Hutto Police Dept. took me there was because they said I told someone I wanted to hurt them. They had no proof of this action and would not say we're they hard that verbal statement. Well after my 3days I asked about my release and Javed Mohammad said he changed his mind that he talk to the police department and put a request in to hold me for an extra month. Even though the police had nothing on me ( also the reason it was rejected) Javed has a close relationship with the police department and follows their request to hold me as long as possible, instead of going by the reason you were there and what's best for the patient. He used his friendship to determine my release date. during my stay, one guy was brought in after stabbing himself 4 times in the chest and one female took 50pills both brought in from the hospital. Both patients came in after me and both were released before me while Javed Mohammad was trying to add a month to my stay. While there I had no issue getting along with everyone. The patient was telling me if we take this to court they would go and speak for me they were also confused about why I was still there. Javed Mohammad tried to keep me for 6weeks because the police dept asked and only had one verbal disagreement to go off of while patients who tried to kill there self were getting released in a couple of days when I asked Javed Mohammad why I was stuck there for so long, he wouldn't say anything. Apparently there is no hope, or no help from these people. You give them a 9 year old in need of some help, WITH ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, BIPOLAR, AND ADHD, which they treat all of that. But what they wont tell you is how they kick kids out who need help. This is a place parents go to get help for their children. All this place did was tell us how horrible our 9 year old was, two prescriptions, and then said they were done. HORRIBLE FREAKIN PLACE!!! DIRECTOR, please do something about your "top-notch" service for the children of AUSTIN!! You should be ashamed of yourself. Remember, before you bring your kids here, just know they give up on them within two weeks. Place should be shut down. You are no help and you made my kid worse. read more

So I was ready to give this place 5 stars because the staff and people on the phone are friendly and helpful. BUT....my son has been here against his will (but he really needs to be here) for the past 3 weeks. We have tried unsuccessfully to develop a treatment plan with the staff that works for my son, for us and his outside psychiatrist. I was only allowed to speak to a doctor AFTER he already decided on his own what med to put my son on and in the same conversation, I was told they are ready to discharge him tomorrow. The drug he chose is 1) old school medication from the 1960's - there are much newer ones out there with fewer side effects and 2) My son was given an injection of it - so we are stuck with that one for the next month and 3) the side effects of this drug are a huge concern for my son, since the drug they chose can trigger some of the issues he has had in the past (which I could have told them if they had consulted with me about it). I did notice that the more I tried to get involved with my son's recovery, the more distant the staff was to me. I have contacted Disability Rights Texas. Reading the other reviews broke my heart even more, especially since they are dated during this same time period in 2019! =( read more

Went to do a mental health evaluation & possible intake. There were people wandering around in the waiting room needing help looking like they're overdosing on drugs. No medical personnel anywhere; a person who looked like a receptionist glared at everyone but greeted no one. Went back to get phone to call; two nurses out in parking lot were smoking & cursing. Went back inside asked receptionist after I finally got to the front of the line (other people in front just left) if there was someone I could speak with about admission. She took a styrofoam meal container out of a cabinet, did not even respond, and just walked out. She didn't come back. There was loud heavy metal music emanating from an open office by the door to the lockup. After about 25 more minutes someone came out & asked if I had insurance. Did not introduce herself... I said, "yes??" then she said, "For a three day stay you will need to pay 40% now. Our daily rate starts at $3,200 so that's what you'll pay tonight if admitted. Do you have that amount?" She didn't ask me if I was suicidal, didn't do any kind of triage, ask my name, why I was there--nothing. So, I just went home. TERRIFIC PLACE. No security, someone suicidal could have just killed everybody there. If you are looking for a good behavioral health hospital, don't stop in there. read more

Do NOT go here!!! This was TRAUMATIZING to my child & myself! My teenage daughter has been seeing a psychiatrist & counselor outside of this place for depression. Psychiatrist suggested an assessment to get a better idea of what she is dealing with.We agreed to relay results to psychiatrist to discuss. Spoke directly to counselor@RockSprings before going in. Told her my daughter isbeing treated elsewhere at TWO places &we wouldnot b signing up forANY of their proposed treatments.We were ONLY coming in for assessment.Rock Springs counselor said 'np, we can do that, come on in.' Sounded normal enough.She was friendly,welcoming.They made my daughter leaveher belongings behind.I asked why phones weren't allowed. 'For security reasons'. As vague as it gets.Didn't make sense. 2 hrs later, theybrought me to the back after taking keys, phone.I assumed taking keys in case a patient walked by grabbed them & tried to hurt someone.Taking the phones DIDN'T make sense...YET Counselor and I spoke oneon one. Friendliness wasgone,suddenly speaking to me likea tyrant.She saidmy daughter needed to begin inpatient treatment andthat I NEEDED to sign a form forthem 2take her 'to the back 'IMMEDIATELY. I tried not to laugh.She said therewere noother options. She takes me intothe other tiny (freezing) 'waiting room' wheremy daughter is.Tells us shewill b right bk.Gone for OVER AN HOUR w/ NO explanation upon return.Found out: ALL DOORS ARE LOCKED. I told herwe would consider the inpatient treatment, go home, talk about it. THIS is whenthe threats began..She very nonchalantly (right IN FRONT OF MY CHILD )says 'ifyou refuse this treatment today,we r calling child protective service.Yes. You read correctly.This was NOT told to me onthe phone, when we got there, nor was itin the paperwork.I reminded thecounselor again that my daughter was already underthe careof a psychiatrist AND acounselor ( Inpatient:staying at facility for weeks starting immediately ) I askedwhy when wespoke on phone,shedidn't mention thiswas a possibility ifwe rejected their treatment. She ignored my ?. More lies : She toldme I HAD to signmy daughter up forthis IMMEDIATELY, that my daughter HAD to speak with a doctor NOW via an iPad.I said 'we r done here, leaving.' Thisis when itbecame A HOSTAGE SITUATION!!! She responds(in front of my child) 'we can't let you leave.' I saidexcuse me??She: 'YOU CANT LEAVE' I suddenly realized mychild &I were in a VERY bad &wrong in EVERYway situation.She straight up liedabout EVERYTHING. Itthen occurred to me why theytake ur keys. It isn't in casea patient tries to use them.Its so YOU CANT LEAVE.They take ur phoneso U CANT CALL 4 HELP when theytell u they r holding you against your will.She said it would take15 min to talk to this DR,left to get the iPad.OVER AN HOUR LATER, my daughterand I areSTILL alone inthis freezing tiny 'waiting room' withno word fromthis counselor.Wewere going on4 hours now.Inhallway,no one..finally another workerwalked by.I told herwhat had happened,bc of the wait &weirdness we werenot going 2be speaking this DR.She said wecould sign a form&leave.She would grab theform &beright back.40 MINUTES LATER:no signof her OR theoriginal counselor that had gone 2get the iPad.I hadto grab ANOTHER worker inthe hallway,toldthem wewanted to leave IMMEDIATELY.They saidthey would talkto a supervisor tosee IF wecould leave.IF. 20 min went by, thefirst employeewho Ihad grabbed comestoward me(several ft away)with an iPad witha DR onscreen,facing it toward me as shewalked over.Strange?I asked y shenever returned w/ promised signout form.She ignored me,tried talking meinto taking theiPad to talk withthis DR.Told her to get thatform IMMEDIATELY.20min later original counselor that left us toget iPad,comes bk w/ sameiPad again facing me asshe walked downhallway toward me,withsame DR onvideocall staring atme.Not weird atall right? Ucan imagine how angry Iwas at this point.Not allowed toleave, LIES,communication-non existent,everyonekept giving diff answers,everyone leaving foran absurd amount oftime w/no explanation. BEYOND Unprofessional in ANY industry.Unprofessional doesn't evenbegin 2describe.Wewere threatened,forced 2wait HOURS w/ NO communication,given diff answers each timeby random employees in hallway,were lied to on phone,then in person about EVERYTHING.AND held against our will!FOR HOURS!! Finally gotform 2 leave.She reminded me of threat Child Protection would b called if idid not admit my child to their facility IMMEDIATELY.5 HOURS LATER we left.This was a HORRIBLE CREEPY EXPERIENCE 4both mychild and I.Shes now scared understandably after witnessing this to get any help at all! give Rock Springs 5 stars due to the remarkable work and compassion with my son. People like Ryan, Cody, Josh, John, and Ari put 110% to bring my son back to life. These are true selfless angels that give unconditionally and don't consider this a job, but a mission. The facility is also designed and inviting. They are also very organized when it comes to the patients and HIPAA compliance in protecting the patient's privacy. My only concern is their lack of communication with family members the patients have authorized release of info. It truly needs major improvements. However I am so pleased with their the wonderful and caring staff that brought my son back to life which is ultimately the most important factor. God bless each of you for the impeccable act of love and guidance. THANK YOU read more
