I've been searching for a good sushi restaurant in Lincoln park and Rock Wrap and Roll is it! It's BYOB and they have lot of unique sushi options. I tried the Strawberry roll and the Black Magic which was on special this month (made with black sushi rice and topped with an extra salmon nigiri made into a jack o'lantern! ). Service was great and also noticed a few tables with the other non-sushi sides and entrées so I will definitely be back to try them out. read more

New go-to sushi joint in Chicago! Have been longing for a solid sushi choice in the neighborhood as my original spot has gone a little bit downhill, and this place did not disappoint. From the service, to the quality, creativity, and flavor of the food, we love it here. We came at about 5 on a Wednesday and luckily it wasn't busy. We had our two year old with us and they were very accommodating. Our order consisted of philly maki, the honey bear, and the dragon. All were outstanding. Additionally we ordered some meat on a stick (forget the original name), that came with a vinegary sauce that was awesome and complimented the meat spices very well. Prices were reasonable too given that we are used to paying a few dollars more at other spots for comparable rolls. You can tell that the staff takes pride in what they do as well, which is refreshing to see and be around. The creativity they put in their presentation, makes the experience stand out amongst the rest. We will definitely be back!! read more

Thank you thank you thank you for opening a solid Thai place in Depaul! There are other places that are sometimes good, but horribly inconsistent. We ordered the standards to benchmark (Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, pot stickers, etc.) and everything was well seasoned and tasty. Sure, it's not Arun's , but it a fair value and portion size is fine (not sure what the other reviewers were expecting). We'll be branching out to other items on the menu soon, but we're excited to have that "go-to" place for Thai in the neighborhood that has been lacking. read more

Had sushi for dinner and it was excellent! The chefs have some amazing creativity and Sugar was very helpful.

This is our go-to spot before movies at Webster. Part of me does not want to rave about this place to keep it a secret...but the staff deserve a 5 star review. Sugar (the hostess/waitress) is always beyond friendly and accommodating. She would be enough to keep us coming back...but on top of that, this is the best sushi we've had in Chicago. The quality of the fish is excellent, and they actually include a TON in your roll. Try the Virgin Bride, it's our favorite. Thank you rock wrap and roll! I ordered Rock sushi after a long day at work, and I had wanted to try it because it was pretty inexpensive compared to my go-to places. My delivery order took about 2 hours, and I had to call the restaurant 3x to make sure it was still coming. The sushi itself wasn't bad, but definitely had gone room temperature, and the miso soup had cooled. I'd recommend their rolls over sashimi/nigiri. The maguro and hamachi were both kind of stringy. read more

We are self proclaimed sushi snobs and had high hopes that this place would not disappoint because it is close to the movie theater we like and they deliver! Not only did it not disappoint but we thought it was one of the best sushi places we have been to in Chicago. Everything we ordered was fantastic. The Golden Triangle appetizer was recommended by the table next to us, whose advice was 'everything is as good as it sounds!'. We indulged and it was beyond delicious. We got a few specialty rolls that were equally great. Also, the manager (owner?), Sugar, introduced herself to us and also waited on us. She is super nice and she told us how she personally oversees the quality of the fish they get. Many places disguise so-so quality fish inside their rolls- or they use very little fish. The fish inside was excellent quality and they are nice size pieces. We may be regulars to Rock Wrap and Roll and are so happy to give our business to this great local sushi restaurant. So there are a lot of mixed reviews about this place and that is how I feel about it. The service was very good but like someone else mentioned we were one of the few tables in there......BYOB is always a plus too. We started with the shrimp shumai which were good and then the spicy tuna roll and then virgin bride maki ($15) which was recommended. The sushi was just OK as the sashimi on top was not very fresh and it was basically the spicy tuna roll with sashimi on top. We then mixed it up with the Spicy Pork entree to share and it was so tough, we could barely eat it. The red curry paste with the veggies and white rice that came with the pork was better....but needless to say, I would not and do not recommend that dish to anyone. They did give us a free mint ice cream with strawberries and chocolate sauce....which was the highlight of the meal! The service is good, the BYOB is good, but the food we had was not so much. Before you go, I would read other reviews to see what people got and what comes highly recommended. read more

Rock Wrap and Roll besides having a creative name for a restaurant is my favorite place to get sushi. The price for sushi can be high at some places but I think the quality of of what you are getting her is just about right. The service is great, the staff is friendly and I enjoy coming back and trying new rolls. Parking might be a challenge but other than that I really recommend coming to Rock Wrap & Roll! read more

This place just barely fufills your craving for thai food. The pad-thai is a bit rubbery and not the best. The lunch special is cheap and good for what you are given. I would not necessarily go here again unless it was lunch time and i NEEDED sushi. and plus, its across the street from barnes, so it's nice and convenient. read more

The food was good, but the service was not so great. The menu is large and there were some interesting special rolls. I was there with my spouse and our 8 year-old daughter. The server did not write down our order and ended up getting two things wrong. My wife ordered the crispy tofu salad and the server brought just crispy tofu... she quickly brought it back and brought back the salad quickly. My wife thought it was very good. The miso soup was bland and watery and mine only had one small piece of tofu in it. The Samuri roll was excellent. The fish was fresh and the roll was very interesting in terms of flavors and textures. After a bit the server came back to ask us if we wanted to order anything else and we reminded her that we still had not received a special veggie roll that we ordered... oops. I asked if it was already put in and she said, "yes." About 15 minutes later it still wasn't out. We said we just wanted our check and she said the roll would be out in "5 seconds"... a couple of minutes later I went up to ask for the check... she was picking up the roll to bring out. We asked for it "to-go." A few minutes later we paid up and took our (delicious) roll to go. I suggest that the server write down orders... this would have made our visit (and this review) much better. read more

I was very pleased with the interior decor at this restaurant. It gives you a modern yet intimate setting, and I really loved being able to see my sushi being prepared by their chefs right in front of me. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, and offered a number of options from sushi to Thai. We ended up ordering 3 rolls, all of which were amazing. The chefs combinations were unique, and gave us a feeling like we were eating in a high end sushi restaurant downtown. I also loved the fact that the restaurant is BYOB, and we are able to enjoy a full meal without being rushed. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere to dine in Lincoln Park. 5+ Stars for sure... read more

Disgusting! Not only they tasted awful, the ingredients were far from fresh. The noodles were actually off, which is a first. Sushi (all three kinds we ordered) were mushy. Everyone had stomach problems after this meal. Will never go there again. read more

The lunch specials are great! Very affordable and ready quickly.

Bought a $20 worth groupon and ate $22 worth of food. They had a $10 credit card minimum so we couldn't pay the remaining $2, thus we had to pay for the entire meal with our credit card. The credit card minimum is understandable. Their customer service was terrible and the sushi was not great! But we didn't want to loose our $20 groupon so we planed on coming here again. The second time we ate here, there were white chunks in the soy sauce and when I pointed them out to the waitress she apologized and immediately took it away and brought us new soy sauce. That should of been a red flag. Then I noticed the way the wooden sushi plates were stacked on top of each other and how the bottom of the plates are not cleaned (only the tops), thus the bottom parts contaminate the top parts of the plates underneath them. Foolishly, I still ate their sushi. Unfortunately I had terrible food poisoning and horrible GI problems. I had a fever, chills, aches, nausea, you name it! I would never go here again, nor recommend it to anyone. read more

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN THE CITY!! I have never been somewhere were the staff has been more inviting and kind. Everytime I have family or friends visit from out of town Rock Wrap and Roll is where I bring them and every time their reaction is "I can't wait to go back!". Outside of the great service, the food is absolutely delicious. The menus are large so there is something for everyone (my favorite is the Miam roll). Not to mention the great plate presentation created by the chefs! From sports themed to holiday themed, the plates are always artisticly gorgeous when arriving to the table. I have held birthday parites and holiday dinners here. It is large enough to host parties, but small enough to get a private feel. Plus it BYOB!! I can not say enough great things about this restaurant!! Where do I begin??? This place has been the go to sushi and Thai joint for my best girlfriends and me! We are obsessed with their menu and more than not have a grubhub night and order from Rock no questions asked! We have been coming here for a few years and have become quite friendly with the wait staff. They are AMAZING!!! Sugar is always there when we dine in and even when I call in to order for delivery or set a reservation (which can be done on opentable.com as well) she knows it is me calling and gets so excited to hear from me! We celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and the ever so often girls night out at Rock and we are wow-ed with every visit by the professionalism! I always feel at home when I am there and the staff goes out of there way to treat me like family. They take so much care of their guests and put even more love and care into their food! I dream about their maki rolls, pad thai and Rock fried rice! I will be a LONG time and loyal customer as long as they have their doors open! Check them out! :D read more
