We were doing some shopping in the area and ended up on this side of the town and I'm so glad. This was the best and friendliest service we had all weekend. Our server was so nice and they have such a good variety of food especially sushi. It's a small place and we were the only people there and they were so excited. It really just makes you feel so welcomed when they are excited you are there. We started with the egg roll and crab Rangoons and I think these are some of the best egg rolls I've had they were amazing. For my meal I got the Mango-A-Coco Maki and the California roll. The Mango A Coco was so good and fresh. Everyone enjoyed their meal throughly as my friends got fried rice and Pad Thai and some more sushi. We did have to wait a minute for my sushi but there's one guy, Rocky making the food so it was not an issue when you were given food that was so tasty. At the end Rocky came out and talked to us for a bit. I hope this place stays in business forever and I'm definitely bring friends here whenever I come back. read more

Would you trust a a sushi (raw fish) restaurant where the sole bathroom has a broken toilet and reeks of cheap disinfectant and sewage? Well, look no further than Rock Wrap & Roll! Despite its bougie location, this business's model is clearly just to siphon off the big bucks from the nearby tasteless nouveux riche, who don't even deign to enter the restaurant from their Armitage Ave. mansions. That's right: on a recent weekend (!) evening, a companion and I were the only diners-in here (red flag). Otherwise, the place was just a revolving door of Doordashers and other technofeudal peons. This has clearly numbed the staff to providing any level of what could be considered acceptable customer service. We were in a bit of a rush to make a film across the street at Regal, but had left ourselves an hour to dine. It took the wait staff 10 minutes to notice us (again, the only folks in the place!); our food was brought out 10 minutes apart, forcing me (starving) to awkwardly chow down while my companion suffered; and, when it came time to ask for the bill, I had to physically GET UP OUT OF MY SEAT to get the staff's attention, since both the waitress and the "chef" were mindlessly scrolling through their phones at the check-in counter. They must have noticed legendary Chi-Town Yelper "Chris O." was seething, because we got some complimentary nigiri at the end. I'm sorry, it was NOT enough! We will NOT go back! Corner restaurant on clybourn kitty corner from Barnes and noble . We were pleasantly welcomed and seated , early dinner around 5:45pm on Thursday. There was no one except the 3 of us and a lot of carry out order's.We ordered a whole bunch of stuff... salmon teriyaki, sushi, Thai green curry (spicy) which hit the spot absolutely delicious! and chicken Chicken pad Thai . I ordered the salmon bento box and the salmon didn't taste very good, didn't take more than a few bites. My lovely friend lured me out to dine with one of her fabulous Groupon deals. We ate at Rock Wrap & Roll on an early Saturday evening. This pan-Asian restaurant is in an attractive building on a relatively quiet block along the busy Clybourn Corridor. The interior is reasonably comfortable, though unfortunately our table in the corner rocked a bit with uneven legs during our meal. The extensive menu at this BYOB restaurant features a mix of sushi, stalwart Japanese and Thai dishes and also wraps, so there should be something to please just about any palate. We started off with the Crab Rangoon appetizer, with six pieces in an order that were crunchy on the outside and generously filled. My lovely friend was craving sushi so she ordered one each of the California Roll, Asparagus Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll (she liked the shrimp one the best). I tried a piece of the Asparagus Roll and it tasted fine, though I am far from being a sushi connoisseur. I also ordered from the Japanese portion of the menu, selecting the Pork Tonkatsu with white rice and miso soup. The impossibly crunchy pork cutlet was cut into very fine slices, and I hijacked the ginger slices from the sushi to add on to my pristine bowl of white rice. Overall the service was fine, and you can also spot this cutesy display in the bathroom. read more

For food, we tried the Pad See Eiew with beef, a spicy tuna roll, a dynamite roll, and a signature entree the Gulf of Rock (a hot pot of assorted seafood with chili paste, onion, bell peppers, mushroom, basil leaf, & peapods). While the pad see eiew was solid and the rolls we ordered made for a good appetizer, the Gulf of Rock was just okay for being a signature dish. Can't attest to the sushi but I ordered the Kra Phrao Kai Yeow Ma (basil chicken with preserved egg) and it was delightful. I was feeling adventurous which is why I wanted to try the preserved egg and it was nice. Didn't think it was all that different from a regular boiled egg, just a lot darker in color and more gelatinous. The basil chicken was as good as any basil chicken I've had. Would order again. Located about a block away from the Regal Cinema and across the street from Barnes & Noble, RWR is a bit easy to just walk past without noticing it. So we tried a couple different rolls, and they were fine. Spicy scallop had a nice presentation, but the scallop didn't have a fresh taste to it. Rather it was a bit cold and rubbery. It was definitely spicy, but I was disappointed in the quality of the scallop. We also tried the wrecking ball, which was off their specials menu. This wasn't my thing, but it tasted okay. It's essentially a fried rice ball with the sushi on top. I also tried the pad see ew with beef, and that was the best thing we ordered. It contained two types of broccoli (Chinese and American), and was plentiful and tasty. Not dry, and just the right amount of sweet. Great job! There was only one person in the restaurant serving tables, and she was nice. I was looking for a Thai Iced Tea, but they were out of that the day I went. :( Service was ultimately friendly and reasonably fast on a Monday night. We couldn't get a table at Yuzu, so a friend recommended Rock, Wrap, and Roll and my friends and I loved it! The place is small but trendy inside and can fit large groups. Service is so friendly and accommodating, and the location is in a much more convenient location. We ordered a bunch of rolls that came out on a beautifully decorated platter. Talk about insta/snap chat perfect! Cool designs with the sauce and nicely dressed, thick rolls. The sushi was as tasty and fresh as it looked too. Looking in from the street you can clearly see how & if busy they are, if busy, that is. Most times, their seats have been empty with 1-2 tables full. Since they have existed so long I wager much of their business resides in delivery and carry-out. Since it was Greg's pick I decided to surf reviews while we sat inside. Didn't realize the solid following they had. We sat and then ordered. We were fungry. So I threw in a couple appetizers immediately and then our entrees. Fire Tuna (Chef specialty sushi) & Chive dumplings. Entrees: Jungle curry & Kuay Teaw Reua Noodle (beef) (You can shorten this order by saying you want "Boat noodles" it's a Thai version of pho.) The following are a few of my thoughts in chronological order. 6:18p appetizers hit the table. Tuna was meh but the chives.. we chived on! Friggin love pan fried dumplings. 6:30p How long does Thai pho take! I'll let you know if I get it. Greg has his food and the waiter insists it will only be a few minutes till I get mine. 6:45p Greg is halfway done eating his meal, Jungle curry, and I'm still waiting on mine. #WTH 7:00p Movie starts now! Appetizers came out 40 minutes ago. Greg's done with his meal. I'm not livid but I'm also not looking forward to slurping down a full dish & running across the street. I'll need the full time of previews to finish! WTF! I finally got my meal and the flavors blew me away. I was ready to explode because of the long wait and yet the waiter was being misleading for what reason? I'd find out later the wrong order was prepared. So they needed extra time to replace it. But fuck! why not own up to it and let me decide at that point! I could have gone to Potbelly's for a sandwich and we would have been in time for the movie trailers. In any case... the flavors in that bowl.. So good. I let Greg try some and he didn't like it one bit. There is much to a good bowl of boat noodle which starts with a rich beef broth which can be intensified with stuff like pickled bean curd, dark soy sauce, pig organ meat or dare I say a splash of cow's blood! Ick. The specifics of what they use here can be seen in their menu, I don't see it mentioned online. The easiest description would be; a sweetened, vinegary broth. It packs a punch. The green vegetables, strips of beef, meatballs & thin noodles offer something to look forward to with every spoon full. Hard to rate. The bowl was exceptional but the deception concerning. As seen in photos. I found this place off yelp. I will say other photos gave me A much different impression of the ambience/atmosphere of the place. When we arrived, it was a lot smaller than I imagined, then again I do have a very large imagination... and as adults we all know it isn't about the size, but the quality. And I'm thrilled to say the quality of the food (for what I expected it to be, after arriving), certainly met my expectations. The Penang curry was so delicious, I literally scooped the entire plate of sauce damn near-clean, I loved how the chef had the peanut sauce strong in presence on that dish. **Review based off of the Thai food offered on the menu** I was craving Thai food and found this on grubhub for free delivery and a discount for first time orders! The actual order came promptly; ordered at around 5:30pm on a Sunday and it was delivered by 6:15pm (30mins earlier than the given estimation). Thankful for the driver who drove in ghat rain storm! I ordered chicken pad see ew and chicken tom kha soup. This is where I took off a couple of stars. The food overall was bland. Granted this place seems to be better known for their sushi than the Thai options, so can't speak for the sushi. The pad see ew really tasted bland that I had to add my own chili garlic paste for it to add back the taste. Same with the Tom kha soup - it just tasted like coconut milk even after a thorough mix, so I had to add some fish sauce to make it taste a bit more authentic to the real deal. Would I try it again? Maybe not the Thai food but I'll be back to try the sushi read more
