Last Saturday night we went to the Rock Yard to see the Pink Floyd cover band Which One's Pink? I had been to the Rock Yard two or three times previously this year and last year, and it's always been a fun night out. Saturday was no different. We got there early so we could have a good view of the stage. Steel Rod was the opening act, which we had seen before. They are a solid opening act, but having them play for two hours was a bit much, as Which One Pink ended up playing less time than Steel Rod. The double stage is great, so that the transition time between acts is minimal. As for the venue, it's set up pretty good, although the concrete benches with ceramic tile on them are pretty hard to sit on for four hours. Bring a blanket or some pads to sit on. The beverage stands have a very limted selection of beer and the wine they serve is not good. There are multiple restaurants at Fantasy Springs if you want to make it a turn key one stop evening. We ate at Pom, the food and service were quite good. Considering the concerts are free, anyone who trashes this place needs to have a good reason to do so. We will definitely be back. read more

The Rock Yard At Fantasy Springs Casino In Indio CA was one of my favorite outdoor Tribute Venues here in So Cal since 2005...But now, Do to one ultra unpleasant show by a tribute band in 2022, Changes in rules, and now a all time first: The 'New' Shut Down for July - August 2025, My rating has dropped to three stars....Note: I am the freelance entertainment reporter that has been covering most of the Tribute Bands here In So Cal now for 25 years... In the summer of 22, The band 'M. / A. And The Stones' were here....The band had already been banned from some casinos due to Attitude problems with the Lead singer and his wife...So, after several issues that we had also discovered as reporters, We also severed our ties with this band...The last major issues we had had with them was before COVID, They were then banned from that resort as well...So, 1.5 years later, We decided to give them a new shot...Nope, the minute we showed up, The singers wife and bestie immediately started a personal attack against us...Three songs into the set, The 'Best Friend' pushed us out our front row seats! We then forced them the leave our seats, pushing them back...(The seats are open, and are for the customers, Not the band)...The horrific singer stops the entire show, Calls me out by name, And says that my wife and I 'Attacked' his wife, We did not even touch her - It was her friend that attacked us first! Security automatically took his opinion, before interviewing us - And reviewing the video tape - First! He also announced to the security that 'That reporter cannot tape my show', Also illegal (It's called Freedom of The Press Guys, And; If one person can't film? That means No One in the Venue can Film!)...There is no 'Copyright Infringement' on Tribute Bands, Because all of the better venues pay a yearly 'Royalties Fee' each year that covers all of the Tributes and Cover Bands... The next incident occurs in early 2025...Now, all of a sudden, I am stopped because I have a small Dodgers Logo on my nice Polo Shirt! The Casino now says 'Team Apparel Is Now Banned'... WTF? I can assure you that no other Casino in So Cal has done this! The third incident occurred about a month ago...After covering most of the shows there since 2005, Now I can't wear my Company Logo there, With not only 4.000 reporters worldwide, But all of the over 629,242 Free Views - And massive Free publicity - That I have gave this Resort Casino since 20 years ago, To include The Rock Yard, The Lit Lounge, The Events Center, Etc? Wow! And the final event, Two weeks ago: We suddenly learn, That for the first time ever, They will now shut down The Rock Yard in July & August, due to 'Global Warming'? All of our beloved tribute bands are now gone for two months! So what to do Fantasy Springs? Cover it, Install A/C, And Turn it into a year round venue, Just like Rock & Brews! read more

We were spending the weekend out in the desert area and had no plans for Saturday night. Thanks to the internet we found out Damage Inc, a Metallica tribute band was playing tonight. We arrived early and the closer it got to the bands playing it started getting crowded. The outdoor event was great and to top it off it was free. read more

Whoever booked the opening act for 11-4-2023, should be FIRED ! They booked a JAZZ band to play the ROCK yard !! Complete snooze-fest... (They didn't even listen to the act before they hired them, or they would have known...) We went to hear the Michael Jackson band, but left after 20 minutes, along with several others, as we just couldn't take another 1 1/2 hour of Jazz music. We came to hear ROCK ... We didn't even get to see IF the Michael Jackson band was any good... What Happened to this place ???? It used to be SO good...with great acts... Now it seems as though they just higher "fillers" that they can throw at the wall, and see what sticks, ( Not even ROCK) in hopes of being able to sell enough booze to cover the costs..... This isn't even worth the cost of gas to get there anymore !!!! FIRE your booking agent, and get someone who knows what the hell they are doing !! read more

We found a place to sit but a little hard on the back after a few hours. I can't wait to go back. Started out at the bar, then dinner and then the show. I love the Rock Yard. The tribute bands that play there are awesome. I've seen numerous shows there and have always had a great time. Great crowd..generally a little older. Steel Rod, the house band, kicks ass and can play about anything. The stage is big, which is really great for the performers. The drink specials could be a little cheaper. I've caught a few free Rock Yard shirts over the years, that's cool. The shirts are a little itchy and stiff, but I can't complain over a free shirt... I drive an hour and a half to see shows here, sometimes I stay, which is a treat, because I can go and watch Steel Rod play at the after show. I've never had a bad time, but then again, my goal is always to have the most fun ever. read more

We first went to the Rock Yard in 2011 and it's a cool venue and a great idea. Free tribute band concerts every Saturday night in the summers. They are located outdoor in a 'courtyard" area at Fantasy Springs and it's always warm and windy out there. There is a little fixed stage that the opening band uses and then a temporary stage that is larger, built in the middle of the space. There are some built in little walls that you can sit on and then a patio behind that where there is seating for the buffet, but that is used for concert seating during the Rock Yard shows. If you want a good seat, you should get there early, otherwise, you may end up standing the whole time or sitting on the grass... or bring a blanket! So, each week an opening band starts at 7:30. Those bands tend to play favorite covers, maybe rock, maybe 80s, etc. At 9:30 the headliner tribute band starts. When the headliner starts, everyone pretty much stands up in front of the stage, before that most people are seated. After the tribute band is done, the opening band comes back and plays until about 12:30. Sometimes the opening band is better than the headliner!!! PROs: It's free. It's fun. They have plenty of drinks for sale and usually have some specials. They throw out free t-shirts and goodies. Some of the concerts are rockin'. CONs: It is hot and windy. People are smoking and don't care if they are doing so right in your face or burning you with their cigarettes. If you don't get there early, it can be less than comfortable. Not all the bands are good. Case in point: Hollywood Roses SUCKS. Oh, the band is okay, but the singer is just not good. If, like us, you like seeing tribute bands, I totally recommend a trip out here. There are plenty of restaurants for pre-show dining., there is gambling of course, and it's just a fun vibe. read more

Very cool outdoor small concert venue. Very odd crowd. We came to see the Duran Duran cover band but came in between their sets and got a Red Hot Chili Pepper's band. They were pretty good but again, the crowd was odd. Maybe everyone was reeling from the Pacquiao vs Mayweather race. read more

You can't beat it, you get to see free tribute bands. Some of these bands we've purchased tickets for at other venues. Only drawback can be the weather especially if it gets too hot since the performances are held outside. It's a grassy slope or you can sit around the perimeter. If you get there too early go up to the 11th floor bar have a cocktail and enjoy the view. You can come and go as you please. read more

went to see the Led Zeppelin cover band, but it was just a bunch of people not wearing masks and drinking. should of had some kind of seating where there would be social distancing. some people followed rules but was just uncomfortable and people were hammered drunk. i did see a security guard once come up and ask someone to put it on, but they didn't and he clearly didn't care and just walked away anyways lol. ALSO the Asian bistro canceled our reservation 30 minutes after waiting to be sat because the people wanted to wait and watch the entire show, but i will leave a separate review for them as well ! read more

This is a great way to spend a Saturday night. Like to golf? Then go in the afternoon to the City of Indio Municipal Golf Course just northwest of Fantasy Springs, just follow the road around the bend about 1/2 farther, where they even supply the golf balls on their putting green, and their driving range overlooks the beautiful mountains to the north of Indio. Need to practicve chipping? Then stake out a cup on the putting green and you can chip for hours! For a NO-COST evening of quality classic rock tribute band entertanment there's nothing like it! read more
