What a cute little candy and soda store! Lots of different soda options starting at $2.19 or a 4 pk at $7.99. It's typical with places like this to have higher prices. Like pop rocks $1.79 and Astro pop $2.99. But some just seemed really inflated. But they have your fun throw back candy options here and plenty of sodas to choose from. Rocket Fizz is such a nostalgic, charming place and fits in perfectly on a nostalgic Del Mar street in beautiful San Clemente. What makes this place even better is the people that work there who are equally charming and nice. I recently brought my 3 year old there who had saved up money in his piggy bank to pay for candy, and the owner, Evet, was so patient and kind as we counted every coin to pay (which can be annoying!). I absolutely adore this candy shop. It's by far my favorite out of all the different rocket fizz stores, and all of the candy shops in general. They have the widest selection of amazing childhood treats, bringing back my happy, nostalgic memories of being a kid. And in addition to such amazing childhood candies, they also have a wide selection of fun childhood paraphernalia - like vintage comic book and superhero art, cute lunchboxes, gag gift similar to what you see at a Spencer's (but better), and an array of fun drinks as well. The owners couldn't be nicer people to top it off. I absolutely love seeing them every time I come into the store. It's a treat (pun intended lol) to support a local, family-owned business, but it's the cherry on top to know they're a loving & hardworking married couple running this business together. They honestly couldn't be nicer people. Love everything about this store. And I don't even need to mention how epic the location is - in the heart of San Clemente with an ocean view and breeze to boot. read more

When walking into the place the first thing noticed was the interior design. It is wonderful with the classic candy, the metallic signs on the walls and the strictly glass bottle only soda, it is very reminiscent of the '50s. The highlight of Rocket Fizz is that it is a specialty store and has a huge variety of all things that will put you in a sugar coma. Most notable is their soda collection, its huge! Besides Jones Soda, none of the sodas in there can be found at a local super market. I picked up a sarsaparilla, which is pretty much impossible to find anywhere else that is not online, and a cream soda from a local brewery; both were delicious. All of the sodas I checked seemed to have a very bare minimum of ingredients in them and absolutely no corn syrup in any of them. The wide variety of soda their is definitely this place's strong point, with many different brands imported from across the country. Strange flavors such as sweet corn and bacon, mixed with favorites such as orange and old fashion cola, lined the shelves with candy placed on top. Of course this selection isn't very cheap, with a bottle costing about 2 dollars and a four pack costing about 7 (they do let you mix and match though!). but I personally could distinctly tell the difference between (what I now deem crummy) AW cream soda and the local brew. I haven't tried the candy yet, because some of it one could find in a grocery store for a bit cheaper, although they do have hard to find candy on the shelves as well which I will try on a future visit. The owner their is also a pretty nice and polite guy, who loved to talk about soda and tell me about all the different kinds of flavors each variety of soda has. He even directed me to his personal favorite brand of each kind of soda. I do have to say, this place will be getting my business for a while, their selection is unmatched and completely worth the price. read more

People this is a candy/soda shop.....quit being so selective with your reviews. I think everyone feels some nostalgia (everyone that is over the age of 15) when they walk into this place and see some candy from their childhood. Now, should I still be a candy freak into my 30's? probably not, but that doesn't stop me from going into this shop. For those who's review's were that the candy was too expensive, you are most likely an adult making decent money and can understand that with overhead of just operating a shop, on del mar, in san clemente, the owner has to up the prices a bit. For the kid in all of us, go here and make a purchase and reminisce about your childhood....does a body good.
