Was recently up in Anacortes for the Oyster Run and this was our chosen lunch spot. As can be expected with an additional 12,000 people in the city, every place was pretty busy. They were smart and put out a special festival menu. Had a pretty decent beer selection. We chose the pan-fried oysters and a basket of fish and chips and the burger. All was above adequate and reasonably priced. The service is A+. Seated within three minutes and cold beer to the table at eight minutes. Pretty spectacular considering how many people were in that restaurant. Will definitely go back. read more

The rating would have been better if the waiter was more attentive and took the time to provide better service. We first ordered drinks and it took him at 10-15 min to bring them. I was surprised as it wasn't crowded, nor were they understaffed. When I tried to flag him down, I managed to spot him at the food pass window idly chatting with fellow wait staff. Meals took another 20 minutes to arrive once ordered and were brought by another member of the wait staff. 5 minutes into our dinner, the waiter finally stopped to ask if we wanted more drinks, and brought refills but never removed the existing empty glasses leaving us little room. We ordered mac & cheese from the kids menu and it was exceptionally hot and the waiter chose to put it right in front of my 2 year old grandson. Seriously, did he expect my grandson not to grab for it??? If its on a kids menu, why does it have to be so screeching hot??? The food was nothing spectacular. I can't think of a place in Anacortes that has the combination of atmosphere, service, menu choices (not standard bar fare!), reasonable prices and beer selection. (It helps that award winning Anacortes Brewery is next door!!) As a local, this in one of our 'go to' places. read more

Our waitress was fine and attentive, but the food was not great. Basic bar food. Chicken sandwich and Caprese chicken sandwich were okay. Menu said the Appetizer of crab cakes was two large. They were each about 2" diameter and maybe 1/2" thin. Deep fried, barely tasted of crab and cost $16.99. Not a good choice. We ordered two orders of the Habanero sauce fish tacos, they were heavily battered, and the Hanabero sauce tasted just like buffalo wing sauce. No Mexican flavors. The nachos were baked so long in the wood grill that the entire to was hard. If you go there stick to burgers and pizza. read more

I would not recommend this place. It was not busy yet tables were dirty. We occupied a table in the empty dining room and then two more groups were seated right next to us so it was hard to hear. They could have spread us out. Service was poor, all servers were gathered in the back room talking. Sat with empty glasses for more than 5 minutes. Watched folks waiting to be seated, but servers too busy gabbing. Would not recommend due to poor service. read more

After skimming some of the reviews below I almost feel guilty giving this place 4 stars, BUT we had a great dining experience here. I have to say that we came during midweek and after the lunch rush so we had excellent service here. Our neighbors recommended this place and we actually walked by 2 times before heading inside. It was beautiful outside, the outdoor seating was closed, but they said no problem so we sat outside. We shared several glasses of different kinds of beer which were recommended by the bartender and he was spot on. The beer they brew is excellent! I had the Ahi Tostadas and the Ahi was seared perfectly which isn't always the case. Had a few bites of their fish tacos as well. Their portions were generous and everyone else looked like they were enjoying their meals. I'll definitely go back! read more

Food was pretty good, almost top notch for a pub. Excellent beer. They had a really good band playing R and B ( wish I could remember the lady's name). I noticed they have a good website. I will check it out before going again. The waite staff was overworked but competent. Service was terse but tolerable. It seems like they are running a lean operation. I suspect the waiters may get a little cranky at times. Only downside is that the layout of the place is not great for listening to music. It's long and narrow. If you sit in back the sound is not good. Just remembered the only other downside.... There was a line it get in. read more

Amazing beer, amazingly friendly staff, and this amazing little apartus called a "Growler" which amounts to a jug with a huggie for you draft beer to carry with you. Lots of merchandise options but lets get to the innovative salmon sandwich with pickled ginger, red pepper sauce, and sweet potato waffle fries or vegetarian chili. Lots of options and there is a nice mix of locals and folks either just off or waiting to get on the ferry. Great meal, good local people, and an asset for Anacortes. Makes ya think about moving there just to use your growler. read more

I won't be recommending this place to anyone soon. The food needs a ton of work. The fish and chips tasted like they had been caught last year and thrown in the freezer until we ordered them. The service was so-so, and the way the waitresses were dressed would make one think they are trying to sell themselves instead of the restaurant... The beer was average for the pacific northwest. The IPA on tap was young and yeasty...a brewery's sin. I cannot say that I was impressed. read more

We tried this place after hearing about it from a friend and needless to say it was WELL worth the drive up from Arlington. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had about their on tap beer selection. We were speedily seated and our server was an absolute delight! The food was perhaps the greatest food I've had the pleasure to enjoy at a pub let alone a restaurant. The fish tacos were great, smoked salmon pesto pizza and crab Mac and cheese to die for, and the few bites of my girlfriends buffalo chicken pasta she was willing to share made my knees weak! The beers we were able to sample were spectacular! I sampled the barley wine, railroad porter, double vision, and honey ale. Any by themselves would be a dream to take home in a growler. The overall prices were very fair especially given how GREAT the food was. If you're in Anacortes this place is a must visit! read more

The beer is always excellent here. But I think the menu is way to big for a brew pub and a little pricey. Service was also a little slow.

My buddy and I left the wives at home and made our annual road trip - this time to the Pacific Northwest in mid-July. Being two guys that brew, we like to try out different places and styles. At Anacortes, we were met with beers that all had bittering higher then I would expect. I'm sure there are those that like tons of hops boiled into their beer but I want something balanced. Give me enough to clear the tongue and should I want more provide a selection option. I'm not sure if my beer disappointment carried to the food or what but I felt that the pizza was bland and overpriced. The view was great! read more

My wife and I were very excited to try this place. We showed up and it was packed, always a good sign. I grabbed a stout and it was not bad. A little watery and mild for my taste but pretty average in the stout game. We ordered the cheese dip. Service was impeccable, very sweet lady who was knowledgeable about the menu. Two stars for the food. The menu promises so much but the food can not deliver. I had the rockfish florentine. Very flat and creamy, way to heavy. I just wanted some fresh notes. The vegetables on the side were the best part. My wife enjoyed her fish and chips. An extra star for the great service. I would try the other food in the area before returning. read more

We are visiting Family in Anacortes this week and my two children were hungry after a morning at the park on 32nd Street. I found the Rock Fish Grill and thought Seafood, Beer and Pizza fit our criteria for lunch. We were greeted right away, seated at a nice table and brought waters all around. My Son was interested in Clam Chowder, which was delicious and the Grilled Mac and Cheese was just right. I had the Fish and chips and a Cream Bee Ale which was light and crisp--perfect for lunch. My family went to the rockfish for dinner to celebrate my sisters birthday, worst idea EVER. We waited an hour to get seated, all the while the waitress completely ignored us and sat everyone else that walked in the door. We actually ended up leaving and going to another restaurant. Of course we had to be the only brown people in the restaurant, stuck in the doorway with absolutely no service. I have never felt so discriminated against. I live right down the street, like the food..but will NEVER go back there. Do not recommend going there if you are any other color than white. read more

Don't know what happened here with their meal preparation, presentation, and quality but something isn't to par in the kitchen. Was here in 2015 and this place was really good and easily a four star, but it has dismally slipped to the bottom and unless something changes it will be a no star for sure. We had fish and chips and fish tacos. I can only say the quantity on the fish and chips was fine but the fish was over cooked and not sure if it shared a deep fryer with another food source as it seemed to be competing with another flavor. Waffle fries was the star of the plate. The fish tacos on the other hand was so poorly presented, a child could have done much much better. Three flat small flour tortillas on a large plate, sprinkled with little chunks of fish. Really, it looked like deep fried fish out of a can. A little cabbage garnish was on top of the little fish chunks and the deep fry oil drizzled off the tortillas onto the plate. They had no real taste and were very bland.....just tasteless. That's it, nothing else on the taco plate! We don't believe in sending food back...taking that chance isn't worth it, and in our opinion a kitchen gets one chance to show off their menu and live up to what is depicted. In our opinion Rock Fish Grill was a big letdown from the kitchen. The waitress brought our check, prior to asking if we would like anything else, and I would add that she didn't ensure our water glasses were topped off. I told her we would like the bread pudding dessert. It seemed like a long wait to get the desert but it was the highlight of the meal; very tasty. Now on the flip side, their beer is still good, sadly Rock Fish Grill has really slipped and has gone downhill. I would recommend some other restaurants for eating and Rock Fish Grill for a pint only. read more

I have to agree with Jessica R., the wait to be seated was unreal. I was hoping that was a fluke. hmmm... When we were finally seated, we were taken care of rather fast. I ordered the beer sampler and my hubby ordered his favorite beer. We got the cheese dip and it was yummy. The only disturbance to the rest of the evening was a set of hippies. Now, I don't mind them, I used to be hippified when I was a teenager too. But, I did shower. They were two tables away and completely funkified the area. I don't know if they bought anything, but the management should have moved them into the broom closet or something. We left earlier than we would have and didn't order another beer. : ( read more

I have to admit that I'm pretty surprised by a few of the reviews here as well... My fiance and I roamed through Anacortes on our way up to some other island fun. She's a big craft-beer drinker and Rockfish/Anacortes Brewery had decent reviews, so we figured we'd swing by for lunch. We randomly chose to sit at the bar, (It was busy, but not so much that we couldn't have gotten a table pretty quick.) and were immediately helped out by the bartender, Showey (I know I spelled his name horribly wrong there; very sorry.) After a bit of discussion, he figured out how to get my fiance a couple of sampler platters to cover everything (they had like 13 or 14 beers on tap that day, and since the samplers are 6 each they ended up giving her a couple for free!) The food arrived soon thereafter and we dug in. Neither of us are real seafoodies (and - for the record - of all of the near to a hundred brewpubs I've been to, only like one is massively into seafood, so I'm not sure why someone would come here specifically for that.) so we ordered other stuff. Everything was great. The San Juan side salad was fantastic. In the meantime, we had a chance to watch the staff working together and were quite impressed. We've been to (and walked out of) a few places where the staff and service has simply been unknowlegable, abrupt, or generally poor. These people either love their job or leave pretty quick. (Something we confirmed later, in fact.) By the end of the meal we'd been helped by at least three different people, (including the owner of the place, who let us have a growler of my fiance's favourite beer - the Tulip Brown - even though it wasn't on "The Growler List".) Everyone was extremely helpful, but definitely laid-back, which honestly makes them our sort of people. We left with a couple of T-shirts, (Gotta love Showey - he ended up having to open/close the cabinets for us a half-dozen times to find the right sizes/colors without ever getting grumpy!) a couple of growlers, and a good attitude. We came back very late that evening after a quick dunk in the Pacific; needing to find a warm place to sit and relax before heading to bed. Erica was manning the bar this time and wow was she a hoot! The chili and the San Juan salad were the standouts this time! Finally, we ended up stopping back by on our way out of town. By this time we'd been around enough to notice that well over half of the people in the bar were regulars, as were a significant amount of those in the restaurant itself. I have absolutely no idea why someone else described this as a "tourist trap"... Perhaps because they have a lot of their own merchandise hanging around, but that simply means they're ignorant as most microbreweries look like that. (The other option is because it doesn't feel like a bar-bar, being more family friendly, in whcih case why are you bothering to rate the food?) At any rate, this third time we ended up getting more/less adopted by Russ, Showey, and a few of the others. We had the pulled pork and a pizza along with another San Juan salad. (The first and last were fantastic; the second hit the spot.) We had so much fun that we ended up sticking around a few hours after we were supposed to leave and even arranged to meet up with a few of the staff later on for something completely different we all happened to be going to. (Told you they adopted us.) All-in-all, while I'll admit that the staff can come off at first as a tiny bit aloof at the very front, if you simply show them some courtesy and a sense of humour then you'll find them to be a group of the warmest, fun-loving people you'll ever meet. read more

We went for happy hour snacks after a whale watching trip. Service was not good, food was just okay. I tried mussels for the first time and they were good. They had a mojito on their drink menu but the bartender made it wrong twice. The pizza tasted exactly like digiornio so if you want that, go. Otherwise, skip it and go somewhere else. Just got off the Deception Pass tour and we were starving. Drove to Anacortes to grab some grub, and was told this place was pretty good. We sat down very quickly and service was great. I think our waiter was the manager so that helped. We ordered a couple of appetizers, calamari & oysters. Both were good, but only three oysters. I thought it was going to be larger. My daughter ordered the mussels and clams with charizo, tasted great but could find no charizo in it. I think they used it for flavoring. Wife ordered a burger, average. Friend ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich, which he claimed had little flavor, not sauced at all. Came with a cup of bbq sauce, had to ask for extra. I ordered fish and cup of chowder. Mine was pretty good. I got an IPA, which was flavored well, but weak for a hoppy beer. Overall it was an ok place to eat. Tables are very small though. Desserts were great, cobbler and bread pudding. Atmosphere is nice, like expected for a pub atmosphere. Would go again. read more

I love the Rockfish Grill! Finally, a restaurant that is honest about what it is, and what it is not. This is not a fancy restaurant. It puts on no airs, but if you want a great burger, salad and beer, this is surely your place. The locals love this bar and grill, too (and we are local), so you know it's good. I especially recommend the vegetarian chili, the flatbread pizzas and the fish and chips are great. So, if you are looking for a great bang for your buck, try this restaurant on for size. Busy in the summer, but be patient. It's worth your wait!! read more

Love this place! Casual, dark, funky and a little divey, but fantastic. Best happy hour ever! Great menu. I had a visitor from CA and we were touring Anacortes and hungry. We went in and it was a pub type place. We arrived just at happy hour. The crowds poured in and life began. Everyone was fun and happy. The cocktails and craft beer menu was great. The appetizers fabulous. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed every minute. Came again with friends from Puerto Rico. They really felt at home here. They have live music some nights too, as well as at their counterpart (not sure if ok to mention). Great, fun! Been there bought the T shirt kinda place! Came to see a few bands at a later date.
