    The name of the Brewery.

"Great Drinks, Great Fish & Chips, But Service Left Us Wondering If We'd Been Forgotten" 3/5 Stars My wife and I visited Rock Fish Grill & Brewery in Anacortes on June 13, 2026, while enjoying a getaway in the area. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere with live music playing that evening. The band was performing Yacht Rock classics, and while the musicians were talented, the vocals were just average. Still, it added some fun energy to the experience. Our evening started off on a positive note. The host who greeted us was friendly and professional. She asked whether we wanted to sit close to the band or farther away, and we chose a table in the back where it was a little quieter. Unfortunately, that's where things started to go downhill. After being seated, we were given water and then... nothing. We waited nearly 20 minutes without anyone taking our order. During that time, we saw staff moving around, and our assigned server even looked our direction several times. At one point, he spent several minutes chatting with two waitresses near our table but never acknowledged us. Not a quick "I'll be right with you" or "Thanks for your patience." Nothing. Eventually, I flagged down another waiter and asked if someone could take our order. To his credit, he immediately stepped in and apologized. He told us, "This isn't my table, but I'll take care of you." From that point forward, he was friendly, attentive, and did a great job. Our assigned server eventually stopped by and apologized, saying he was extremely busy, but by then the damage had already been done. As for the food: The calamari appetizer was decent. Not bad, not amazing. I'd give it about a 3 out of 5. The drinks were one of the highlights of the evening. I enjoyed a Summer Whiskey Splash, which was excellent. My wife ordered the House Pineapple Cider. She liked it but felt it didn't quite live up to its potential. For my entrée, I ordered the salmon with rice and asparagus. It was okay--good, but not particularly memorable. My wife's fish and chips, however, were fantastic. The fish was crispy and flavorful, and the waffle fries were delicious. The only miss on her plate was the coleslaw, which unfortunately lacked flavor. Overall, this was a mixed experience. There were definitely some bright spots: a welcoming host, a helpful waiter who saved the evening, good drinks, and excellent fish and chips. However, the service issues at the beginning left a lasting impression and made us feel overlooked. Would we come back? Maybe. We haven't completely written Rock Fish Grill off, but we'd be hesitant. Perhaps it was just an off night, or maybe we simply caught them during a particularly busy rush. Either way, when you're seated at a restaurant, acknowledgment and communication go a long way. We have photos of the meals and video of the live band, which helped capture both the good and the not-so-good parts of the evening. Hopefully our experience was the exception rather than the rule.

    Live music on Wednesday nights

We were hesitant to try this place because of the mixed reviews online but gave it a shot. We were greeted and seated promptly. Being Wednesday evening they had live music, let me tell you it was unique and very pleasant to listen to! We loved it. Our waitress was also great! So attentive, very nice! We ordered the mussels as appetizers the garlic broth had lots of flavor and the mussels were cooked just right. My son's pizza was great, kids Mac and cheese not so much. My husband ordered the pork schnitzel and that was probably the most delicious schnitzel I've ever tasted, the mushroom sauce was on point, breading was great! I love how they serve it with broccolini. I ordered the 6 oysters with clam chowder. The clam chowder was full of flavor and the perfect consistency. The oysters were cooked perfect but they were so small it left me wanting more. We got their brownie to go, it was warm when they gave us the box. Later when we got home and tried it, it had cooled down and was hard as a rock. I would recommend just eating it there when freshly heated. I saw peoples reviews about the credit card charge which we anticipated but there were other restaurants in town that didn't charge that. It's a little tacky and can be a deterrent.

Huh. My detailed lengthy review disappeared. I don't think I have it in me for a do over. Rockfish Grill wasn't that remarkable for second go-round. My fish n chips was mediocre. The fish was dried out not even the tartar sauce could help it. It was also too expensive. We spent over $100 with tip for both of us. That is becoming all too normal these days.

I am a listener of KISM FM 92.9 and I heard that there was an event to help the homeless. Basically, eat at participating restaurants and part of the proceeds would go to help the homeless. One of those restaurants was The Rockfish Grill in Anacortes. I've been here before and usually order their pizza. It's very good pizza and I enjoy it a lot! However, today I chose to eat their Etouffee. My wife and her family are from Northern Louisiana and she introduced me to Crawfish Etouffee and it has been a favorite of mine ever since. The Rockfish Grill makes their Etouffee with shrimp. Almost as tasty as the crawfish version when done right! The Rockfish Grill definitely does it right! They have an island of rice sitting in the middle of a bowl of the Etouffee that is chock full of andouille sausage, shrimp, onions, and other bits of goodness. The wait staff was very friendly and I was able to keep myself entertained by checking out all the wonderful decor and watching one of the tv's around the bar. I always enjoy my visits to The Rockfish Grill and look forward to my next visit.

Great downtown local bar with a welcoming ambiance. Plenty of street parking and has a good sized outdoor area. Our server was a sweetheart and he did awesome. Their cocktails are a great deal and delicious. I had the peach one, forgot the name but it was yummy and gave me a good warm feeling. We ordered the fish and chips, bowl of clam chowder and calamari. Calamari 3/5- was soggy where it coated the squid ring and crunchy at the small edge pieces. Wouldn't get again Bowl of clam chowder 4/5- it had bacon and that was a nice touch to it. Added a great crunch and a surprise of salty with the creamy. It was flavorful and filled with corn, potatoes, little bit of clams and bacon. Fish and chips 4/5- didn't wow us but it was solid! Amazing crunch and the fish wasn't dry. Super flaky.

Taproom and restaurant was a great stop for lunch. We were exploring Anacortes and a local brewery with food sounded perfect- beers for the boys, seafood for everyone! We started with an order of perfectly fried calamari- the boys & I devoured the dish easily. The boys ordered a flight of beers to share and those too were gone quickly. I ordered a cocktail- a huckleberry lemonade smash (or something with huckleberry and bourbon)- very good too, not too sweet surprisingly! Service was great- our server was quadruple sat and we were the 3 table in and she was stellar about communication! John went with a hearty burger- bacon, cheese, beef- man, man, man, man- lol. Robert ordered the crab-mac & shared a bit with me- good gracious it was good! Eddie and I both had a bowl of chowder & everything was delicious. This was the quintessential, brewery by the water- with great food! Massive bar, plenty of seating, even and outdoor patio. I would return next time we visit the boys in a heartbeat- John and Robert thoroughly enjoyed their beers! Thank you to Heather for the fabulous service!!!

Rockfish Grill offers hearty pub fare, with friendly service, and ample seating both indoors and out. In addition, the restaurant offers a regular schedule of live music and seems to have become a local a local institution. There are many photos and posters displayed throughout the building commemorating past performances. There is a large menu offering a wide variety of dishes, and the waitstaff are well-versed in the ingredients and various options for each of the dishes. I ordered halibut fish and chips, as well as an artichoke and shrimp dip with tortilla chips. I was surprised by how hearty the halibut pieces I was served were, they were quite large and a great value. The fish was tender, and the battered exterior was crunchy and buttery. With friendly staff, ample seating, and generous servings, Rockfish Grill serves as a safe bet for a night out in Anacortes.

2 piece fish and chips with coleslaw.

Had lunch here and the food was good. Service was a little slow at first, but once I was seated and ordered, my meal came fairly fast. I had the two piece fish and chips. The portions were large, and a generous helping of waffle fries too. The fish is panko breaded, nice and crispy. Price is a bit on the high side, but the portions are generous. Beware of the 99 cent Credit Card fee, they added that even though I was paying cash. They did remove it upon request though. The bar is a bit on the dark side, but it does have large windows on one end. All in all a good experience. Large portions and good taste.

I believe our waiters name was Stephen... Let me just tell you. My entire family eats out so much they are incredibly picky and always find something to knit pick. Out of the 8 of us not one single thing was less than stellar. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and experience. So incredibly yummy. We were there for the state football tournament and Stephen was THE only welcoming person in that town. If we ever went back (which truthfully everyone was so horrible to us in town... I doubt we would....) but if we did, it would be my first and only stop. Best service and food hands down!

Rockfish Grill was so wonderful. The fish tacos were light and flavorful. The oyster shooters were MASSIVE! The passion fruit mule was the best - full of flavor and packed a little punch. Our waitress was kind and efficient. The bar tender was really on his game. I also loved the restaurant vibe overall - lots of fun pieces of artwork. I would definitely come back.

The beer is always excellent here. But I think the menu is way to big for a brew pub and a little pricey. Service was also a little slow.

You walk in and order your food at the counter, then head next door (still inside the same building) to grab your beer. My husband said his burger was good, BUT THESE RIBS, YALL. They stole the show. They were honestly the best ribs I've EVER had! So tender, and the dry rub was amazing. I highly suggest getting them dry and getting the BBQ sauce on the side. That way you can taste how good they really are before being drenched in their delicious BBQ sauce. As for the beers, I wanted to give a shout out to their Coconut Stout. I've had many coconut stouts that I want to be good, and they all fall flat. But this has been my favorite coconut stout of all time! You could taste the full flavor profile of the toasted coconut! It was incredible! I give this place a 10/10! We will definitely be back!!

Things have definitely changed, though, since I last attended in 2019. Most noticeable was that there were far fewer breweries and cideries in attendance. In its heyday, BOTP had a whole separate section just for cider. Now, the cider vendors were sprinkled amongst the breweries, making it even more apparent that some of the PNW brewery stalwarts were not in attendance. Kulshan, Stemma, Boundary Bay, North Sound, Wander, Aslan, and many of the great Seattle-area breweries were nowhere to be seen. Shoutout, though, to local greats from Farmstrong to Georgetown for being there. Just wish there were more! The music was great - the Naughty Blokes were pretty entertaining, although I must confess I kinda missed the old polka band that used to play the festival. Gone, too, was the costume contest (though I still saw a few dudes in leiderhosen making the rounds). Perhaps most disappointing were the food trucks. There were three meal-oriented trucks and one serving kettle corn. The prices were OUTRAGEOUS though. We paid $17 for four street-sized tacos at the Mexican Food truck! Hopefully 2022 is just a transition year for BOTP, and they'll be back in full glory next year.

The venue is an old warehouse type of building on a commercial wharf. It had a fun vibe to it. Definitely bring a warmer layer if there is any wind or rain forecast. One downside was that the band was very loud and it was difficult to have a conversation inside the building.
