Rockhouse was one of our visits as we descended here for heritage night! On this particular day of our visit, it was actually a event going on for Detroit! Needless to say that this restaurant was Pat to the brim. Some people we're only able to get standing room only admission. But I booked us a table, maybe a week prior so we can have a brunch there. We did have to purchase a wristband because of this event. When we were finally seated, Our server was Miss Ashley! Ashley singlehandedly saved this review from being bad! Ask all the drama at the door she helped immensely! She was very patient with us.She explained if she was not sure on something she went and got clarification. We got our meals and noted a problem with the order. And she jumped in, went to the kitchen and got us a fresh order to our liking. I've never been anywhere. Where it was absolutely packed with people. But I felt like I had my own personal wait, staff. She kept making sure that we were okay. Making sure we have water making sure we had. The foods are liking brought us drinks and even let us know about some specials that were going on. So we were able to partake in those, and I just appreciate her efforts and hospitality. And if you have the opportunity to have Ashley, then you will be well pleased! For the food we had the chicken and waffles, the chicken book was immaculent. It must have been like a buttermilk. Breading. Cuz, it was crispy crunchy, but still very moist and cook through-and-through period and we had the waffles with the pecan topping amazing 10 out of 10 on those waffles, and I believe my friend grabbed the burger. But I just personally speak in.Fell in love with that chicken. We did order like a Margarita tower, but they end up just bringing like the stacks bottles and because they ran out of the towers. So that was kind of disappointing, but other than that, the music from my generation, it was perfect. It's not a young person's spot. As my daughter say, it's for the old heads, but I enjoy myself. No drama popped off, and we had a time!

Came on a Thursday for their Oxtail & Hookah special! Able to make reservations through open table up until a certain time before they turn into lounge and sections and bottle minimums are required. $15 hookah and $19 oxtail plates is a a steal in the economy okay! Plate comes with greens rice and cornbread. I would say, I could tell they made a big batch and just heated up the plates as they were ordered because my food didn't taste fresh and wasn't warmed properly. Greens were salty but the cornbread was delcious. They did have $5 frozens that night and we tried the Dusse based one ! Really good !

I really, really like this place. The food is always a hit for me. I notice that sometimes if you go to places in the area they treat you a little differently if it's all ladies or ladies and guys but I don't get that vibe here. I've gone at least three times (once for a night time event and twice for brunch) and never felt odd with service. The servers have been pleasant and attentive overall. It's also a "gratuity already added" establishment, I want to say it was 20%? Just FYI. Definitely would recommend utilizing the reservations option for the weekend brunch to confirm your seats. I prefer to sit in the main lobby but there is also a section with the live music as well as an outdoor patio (with covering). The main lobby is the best of both worlds because it's indoors and you can hear the live music but not so loud to where you can't hear table conversations. I love going on Sundays for the brunch buffet because there are so many options to choose from and the food tasted even better the second time I went. I would also recommend, if it's a few people in your party, getting the mimosa tower. My favorite combo is the strawberry mango .. so good. The live music is a plus. The parking could be annoying (I believe it's $10 self park, $20 valet or something like that) and the lot tends to fill up pretty quickly when they have events. Aside from that, it's a pretty decent spot.

RockHouse is a fun southern restaurant that offers delicious comfort food and beautiful cocktails. We came for the stuffed turkeys that tasted even better than they looked, the drinks didn't disappoint either. Our server was friendly and very attentive despite it being super busy when we arrived. Definitely plan to go back to see one of the many live music performances they offer and try even more of the menu.

Edit: I had to come back and add that automatic 20% gratuity on a party of 4 is THEFT and Houston restaurants need to stop. -- We visited for brunch at 11 AM on a Saturday. It wasn't crowded which is great. They sat us at a high top table and we asked for a different table, but they said they were all reserved. Our reservation was a two hour time slot, and in that time most of the other tables were not used. They could've let us sit somewhere else, but I digress. The food was great with the exception of the catfish that tasted under seasoned and swampy. We thoroughly enjoyed the greens, oxtail, potatoes, and all of the breakfast items. The blackberry mimosa is delicious as well! They also had a very good DJ!

Had a great time . Went here on a Friday and it was very laid back and nice . The hookah was good ,I paid only 25. The drinks were really good and also I had a very nice waitress. Great spot. You do pay for parking here also.

Visited here tonight for dinner and was deeply disappointed with the food and the drinks were just ok. The seafood eggroll was ok but I wish it was fried harder. The sides were mediocre and the chicken too salty for consumption. I gather the brine used on the chicken was the culprit. Service was good and I regret I don't remember our server's name. She did her part well and was very accommodating when we mentioned the chicken was too salty. Had we gone with her recommendation of the smoked oxtails maybe this review would be different. Here's what I summarized, this is a place more focused on entertainment. If you are drinking and decide to put something on your stomach you can find something palatable. However, if you are looking for a great dining experience, this is not it food wise. I would come back to checkout the entertainment though.

Group Party platter- chicken wings, egg rolls & french fries with sparklers

This place was formerly Diablo Loco when I visited a year ago. Parking: Restaurant parking lot is right in front of the building. It is $20 valet only, no self parking, & you pay it up front. Atmosphere: There is a dining side & a lounge side where the DJ and/or band is depending on the night. The place is pretty spacious for large crowds. Enough space where you can walk around & talk or dance with each other. I was there on a Friday night celebrating a friend's birthday. We had over 20 people in our group & the place easily accommodated us on the lounge side with their sectional lounge couches & high top long table. We did have reservations which would be needed for a large group to secure seating. Music: Band on this Friday night was quite good playing R&B and the DJ kept things going before the band started & during band breaks. There was never a gap with the music party vibe. Food: They birthday girl ordered large party platters that came with sparklers lit & stuck in the sliders to look festive. The sampler platter tray was nicely laid out with thin french fries on the bottom, chicken wings, pork sliders, & egg rolls. We also had the flatbread pizza and mac & cheese. As I look at the menu, several of our party platter items are not exactly the same as shown on the regular menu. So know if you have a group, you should talk to a manager to work on a platter menu. Their breaded chicken wings came as drumettes only (no flats) & they were huge. Looked like chicken drumsticks! They were well seasoned. Pork slides were dry, wouldn't get those again. I missed tasting the egg rolls but they looked good! The thin flatbread pizza had pepperoni & seasonings and was really tasty with a hint of spiciness. Fried catfish was cooked & seasoned perfectly, it was great. Drinks: Drinks were ok. They seemed watered down. Not sure if that is the norm or if it was because of the large group. I had a side car. My husband had an old fashion. Not sure what they put in it cause it was fizzy (maybe club soda??) but he didn't finish it & just ordered bourbon straight. Misc: The bathrooms are maintained with an attendant. Purses are checked prior to going in. They had a few other large groups celebrating and the staff brought out sparkler rockets and a birthday sign. For our group, they put small sparklers on our food platters . So if you have a celebration with a group make sure you ask about what special touches they can do for you. I really enjoyed the vibe, the music, the food. I would definitely go back. I'll give the drinks another try.

I enjoyed my brunch at Rockhouse. I ordered the red velvet chicken & waffles. 9/10. Staff was friendly and efficient. Actual restaurant is nice, clean, great DJ. Will recommend and return.

Came here for my birthday and let me tell you, Houston didn't disappoint. I'm from Cali and found this place on TikTok and all I can say it was good vibes , live music and the food babyyyyyyyy was fire .... Everything was amazing the oxtails , omelet bar , waffles , omg I was in heaven .. the service was fast and EL our bartender made my day and the drinks were good she was very sweet and really brought my birthday in. Thank you again for the nice southern hospitality, see you next year

We had an amazing time at ROCKHOUSE at a Cinco de 'Mayo celebration on our last night in Houston. Music was awesome and the appetizers were delicious. Awesome atmosphere and service!

Food is great and the service is amazing. When making a reservation ask how long do you have the table when you check in. That way you know how long you can be there. Ambiance is fun. Dj was cool. Mock tails are even good. Live music on Sunday was so fun. But you can't sit without a reservation.

The young lady at the front did her best to accommodate us by apologizing, giving us a free cobbler and juice for the little one. We ordered a few different things: fried whole wings, dirty rice, yams, cabbage, mango habanero wings, fries, red beans and rice and Kool-aide. The fried wings, rice, fries and cabbage were well seasoned- you could taste the butter in them. My son wasn't crazy about the red beans n rice or mango habanero wings. He said it was more beans than rice and the wings lacked flavor. The Kool -aide was super sweet (as expected), but I added water to make it more palatable. While waiting we talked to some other guests Who decided to wait. Later the cook came out and chatted a bit- he was nice. Overall, food is good just come with patience.

P.S. half of my coworkers ordered their craft burgers and the other half went with their pizzas--pretty solid choice. Crust was sourdough and the toppings were varied. The tops were DUCK AND BALSAMIC, SAUSAGE AND BURRATA, PEAR AND BLEU

When we arrived, the host let us choose where we wanted to sit. I originally spotted a cozy booth by the window, but since we were asked if we'd like to sit where we could watch the TV during the Cup match, we opted for one of the high-top tables instead. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a mistake because there isn't any lighting at the high tables. We could barely see our food. Adding pendant or drop-down lighting above those tables would make a huge difference. If you plan to visit, I'd recommend requesting a regular table or booth for better lighting. The menu is definitely unique, though I found it somewhat limited compared to other seafood restaurants. To start, I ordered the roasted oysters while my friend had a dozen raw oysters with all the traditional fixings. The roasted oysters were delicious, but there was so much topping that it almost took the shine away from the oysters themselves. Next time, I'd ask for lighter toppings and no scallions. For my entrée, I had the Halfshell Grilled Redfish. The fish itself was cooked beautifully--moist, flaky, and perfectly prepared. The only downside was the chermoula, which leaned far too heavily on the citrus. The lemon flavor completely overpowered the fish. As my side, I ordered the Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo. Unfortunately, it had a distinct burnt taste, which made it seem like the roux had been overcooked. A good gumbo should have a deep, rich flavor, but this one was overshadowed by that burnt note. My friend ordered the Jerk Fish Collars, and we both agreed they would have been much better if the fish had been marinated to allow the jerk seasoning to really penetrate. I also ordered a Lemon Drop Martini, and I have to admit I was surprised when it arrived in such a tiny martini glass, especially considering the price. Overall, the quality of the seafood is evident, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. I think a few adjustments to the lighting, better balance in some of the flavors, and more attention to details like the gumbo and cocktail portions would elevate the experience even further. I'd definitely return to try more of the menu and hope for a more polished experience next time.
