I Went to this store ready to make a $4,200 purchase for this laser cutter they have for sale. I wanted to make sure it will be able to cut thin rubber sheets and I asked this worker (I don't remember his name But has a pony tail) if they can just test out a piece of rubber sheet I had with me. If it was able to cut it I was going to buy the laser cutter that same moment. Well, he was rude! Told me no in a rude way. Very rude. So now I called the same store in Torrance and the store manager is waiting for me to test out my sample! read more

My friend needed some stuff for his FIDM school project. He found out online that none of the hardware stores (including Home Depot - and he loves shopping there) had what he needs except this place in Pasadena. We went in and ask for help from Don (an elderly gentleman). He was the most wonderful, helpful, knowledgeable sales associate u can dream of. The place had everything my friend needed at good prices, it was very well-organized. Too bad, it's a bit far from LA, but we will surely be back. We even took a photo of the store and submitted it as they didn't have a profile photo on Yelp yet. We felt the old tradition and professionalism in the store, but hey, we wished all stores were like this in this modern age. People that care and are happy to help you. Update: I corresponded with a John H after the last review. It was surprisingly easy and John made me feel at ease. Although I wouldn't expect this at the store level they talked to dewalt and checked to see if the featherboard fit as well as tested to with a display saw. Although I did not ask for specifics I feel the effort was already more than a customer can ask for and beyond my abilities so it eases any problems I might have about the product. I've updated the ratings for that, I cannot think of a better way of addressing the question, I was expecting something along the lines of the answer I would get at a store employee level which would be these are standard sizes it should fit or for me to have to read the specs measure and take the risk which I wouldn't be mad at that's pretty normal. read more

I was looking for a 12" heavy duty drawer slider. I went to Home Depot. The shortest was 14". I went to Lowe's. The shortest was 18". I went to Rockler. I had a choice of a three different 12" sliders that fit my project. Rockler also has a wide selection of router bits that are a notch up from the stuff found at Home Depot (not that I should buy 1/4" shank bits at Home Depot or elsewhere). The prices on the Rockler bits are also affordable. Right now, they have a sale on select 1/2" shank bits. I bought a 3/4" straight bit for $10 to replace my old, blackened Skil bit. What a deal! The staff is consistently helpful, but sometimes a bit slow to ring-up a purchase. The store is amazing clean considering they cut wood in the store. Their selection of wood used to be better. Years ago, I bought small boards of walnut burl and buckeye burl. I really wish I could get those again. There is parking in the back. Rosemead is currently under construction so traffic around Rockler sucks. I've also been to the Torrance store, but prefer the staff and wood selection at Pasadena. read more

Came in about 15 mins before closing to 5 employees at the counter standing around talking. Not one of them greets me or looks my direction to even acknowledge I'm there. So I look around trying to find a few things including a worm screw. A gentleman finally asks me if I need help finding something and by the way which at that point I was already over making a purchase so I said I was fine. He then says they close in 5 mins. I then overhear another older lady with glasses tell another employee that I needed to scram and that he needed to tell me to leave. Very rude and disrespectful from a customers point, from not acknowledging a customer to having inappropriate conversations about customers in front of customers. Won't be back from this experience, I've had similar experiences where the newer associates are the only ones who help customers while the older and more experienced employees are too comfortable. What a relief! How nice it is to walk into a store and get great friendly, knowledgeable and relaxed service. Rockler has an amazing amount of selection on line but the Brick & mortar store is limited in what it has in stock although it's quite good. It only gets four stars for the shipping, due to the size of the store their stock on hand is limited and it would be perfect if they shipped items to you at a Reasonable price to you when they don't have it in the store like there competitors do. 26 miles is a long way to drive in LA to go get an obscure part and then there out of it. There shipping is relatively expensive even when you spend over $200 so the big box stores & amazon will sometimes get the order to save driving or shipping charges but these guys are very helpful and deserve our patronage. read more

Horrrible and by horrible I mean non existent customer service l, there were 2 ladies and 2 guys working there, I was in the store for about 10 minutes, they all sat around the register and talked amongst themselves, I never received any greeting or any offer to assist with what I was looking for, one of the guys and Asian guy looked at me and that is as far as it went, he quickly went back to chatting. I'm a (cute) female who happens to occasionally refinish my furniture! At home depot and OSH I normally get the "hey, there, little lady" bit. Then I start talking and end up being more knowledgeable than the person working! I am pleased to say this was far from the experience I had at Rockler. Upon arrival, I was promptly assisted. I explained my situation (antique inlay dining table top, or "pain in my a$$"), and asked for an objective opinion. The gentleman assisting me refereed me to another sales associate and decisions were made! I even got a tip that I did NOT know (if using urethane apply full gloss for all the undercoats to prevent clouding!). I NEVER once got a raised eyebrow form the sales personal! Shopping at Rockler is always a great experience. I love looking through the turning stock to see what they have on hand. The people at this location are friendly and knowledgeable. But that's true of every Rockler I have been to. They will try to sell you something but they are not pushy about it. My one wish is that they carry more variety of lumber but I know that's not their core business. I'm glad they are not closer, my bank account couldn't handle it. read more

I needed an obscure part for some built ins in my dining room. While searching for the part I needed online, I stumbled upon Rockler. I almost paid $7+ for shipping until I discovered they had a store in Pasadena. I spoke with Mort on the phone and he was very helpful with checking for the part and putting it on hold. When I arrived at the store he was equally as helpful. I didn't spend a lot of time in the store itself but it looks like they have tons of odd ball parts. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Never order a big ticket item from this company. We order in mid June a $3000 workbench. Was told or would be delivered in two weeks. We waited and waited. Total pushback from company. Every two weeks another date. I know we are in Covid but if I would have ordered from Amazon no one would have charged me until it shipped. I let them know this and got to bad. We finally got a "it's back ordered we don't know when it will ship". I asked to speak to manufacture and was told no. So we waited. In mid September my son (who we bought it for) went on a long awaited trip to Spain. You guessed it we got a call saying they would deliver next day. So we said no. They threaten to charge us storage fee. When we set up delivery they said they could not deliver because shipping company only used tractor trailer and our son lives in rural CT and has a long steep driveway. Exasperated we said take it back then. We were told if we did that we would have to pay extra shipping and restocking fee. Our son is going to have to take day off from work and recruit friends to push an almost 300 pound bench up to his home. Such poor customer service. I wouldn't buy a screwdriver from them read more

Rockler is fine when you absolutely must have an obscure router bit or are in the middle of refinishing a project and realize you're running out of something. Hours aren't great, but I go there for urgent needs, things I don't want to wait for buying online. That said, their prices are high, it often takes a long time to get someone's attention if you need something out of a case or simply want to pay, some stuff never seems to be in stock, and sometimes it seems they just don't give a crap. Once recently I needed a router bit and could see it in the case, but they insisted that they were out, even though I saw it on a neighboring (incorrect) peg and pointed it out to the sales guy several times. I had to argue with the guy for a couple minutes before he agreed to open the case. Another time I left a blade to be sharpened, was assured it would be ready a week from the coming Wednesday, and then when I went to pick it up, they couldn't find it and asked me to try back in another week. I needed the blade, not a shoulder shrug and "try back some other time". I'll keep going for stuff I have to have immediately until I find other local suppliers, but it's not a pleasant place to shop by any means. read more

I have been there several times with excellent results, very knowledgeable and helpful staff, the opposite of home depot. It isn't cheap. I restore wooden boats that are older than I am and often require exotic, hard to find lumber, weird old tools and parts that aren't in common use anymore and these guys have come through for me. Joseph and David have been really helpful with all the trouble I've given them. A couple weeks ago I purchased a mini lathe that I'm continually delighted with. A few days ago it went on sale for $100 off and they told me "No problem, bring in the receipt and we'll take care of it". It's like letting a kid who likes to dress up and play princes going on a free-for-all at a Disney world princess shop. I'm by no means an expert in woodworking this place is just about everything you need to get a project off the ground. The store is so badly organized they have to move crates into the parking lot so customers can walk in, the lack of care then runs through the whole store. The staff is unimpressive as far as customer support and at times rude and apathetic. The Sunday hours of operation are close to worthless. I won't ever bother going to this store again. read more

This is one cool place! I'm not a woodworker, but I did find what I was looking for. I had called them looking for Renaissance Wax Paste which is not very easy to find and they had one tin left. They were nice enough to put it aside for me. The gentlemen that work there were very friendly and helpful. This is a great place for anyone who does any kind of woodworking with every type of tool, bits, etc. you'd ever need. They even carry drawer pulls and hinges. They are not cheap, but it is worth the extra money and they have so much more than any average hardware store. Give them a try - I highly recommend them! read more

I executed an online purchase for Ash and Walnut pieces from Rockler in January. The amount my credit card was charged was not same amount that my invoice showed when I made the purchase - my credit card was overcharged. I contacted Rockler Customer Service by phone and was told that the invoice I received was an "estimate" and did not include sales tax. I followed-up with an email and was told that it was my fault because the four extra digits of my zip code were not entered when I placed the order. Rockler did not explain how my order was processed without this information, but again stated the invoice I received was an "estimate" even though there was nothing written in the invoice about it. Poor customer service - telling the customer it's their fault because Rockler's software doesn't correctly calculate the total cost of the order. Buyer beware - know your four extra zip code digits before ordering online! read more
