Sadly, today was not just lack of customer service, but when I attempted to ask an employee one simple question, I was ignored and the other employee said "he was busy with corporate!" There was another employee I attempted to ask for help, but he completely ignored me. There was another customer who also was trying to get help, but apparently he too was ignored because he raised his hands in the air and said, "I guess nobody can help!" I ended up picking up my items, and took back what I brought in to repair, and will need to get them done elsewhere, sadly. I realize, you can't get helped right away all of the time, and that is not my complain, but rather those who couldn't at least say "I'm sorry, we Will be with you in a moment " or just acknowledge my existence and not tell me "corporate" is more important!

Before bringing it in, I asked the cashier if it was okay since I was only going to be inside for a few minutes to purchase a few items. The cashier said it was fine. A few minutes later, the store manager, who I believe is named Evan, came through the store yelling, "Whose e-bike is that?" in front of other customers. Instead of speaking to me professionally, she immediately became confrontational. I calmly explained that I only needed a few minutes to finish my purchase, but she responded by insulting me and using profanity. I'm an adult, a paying customer, and a regular shopper at this location. There was no reason for the situation to be handled with shouting and disrespect. If there was a store policy, it could have been explained politely instead of creating a scene. I reported the incident to corporate, but because this location is independently franchised, they were unable to resolve the issue. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this store while this manager is in charge. Customers deserve professionalism and respect, not public embarrassment over a situation that could have been handled with a simple conversation. Ty

The prices for most items are competitive with big box stores-- items like PVC pipe, wood filler, and hardware are cheaper at Altadena Hardware in a side-by-side comparison to big box stores. If you purchase materials like wood or pipe, they can cut it for you for transport! The selection of paint, hardware, garden supplies, light bulbs, power tools, adhesives, and most other typical household hardware needs are excellent. Based on size, they don't stock as much lumber or appliances as big box stores. Very helpful -- they do cartridge exchange for Soda Stream!! And have many options of Soda Stream flavorings. I was surprised when they told me they would not fulfill it and would simply cancel the order instead. This experience was not only unhelpful but also discouraging. It felt like there was no willingness to assist or find a solution. Jeff is the "Aidan Gillen" of Hardware. But I sure caution: DO NOT use their budget friendly referral. That man doesn't have the expertise for these beautiful complex doors, we ended up replacing the mortis lock (+additional $350), then this budget guy took the wrong measurements of our equipment and shaved down the door tongue pin too far, the replacement cost us an additional $50 and change. Plus their service fee $225. Our business will be back, despite the locksmith experience. Have your own locksmith in hand, hell we found out a family friend is going to give us the family discount now. Just ask, we may even have neighbors who are experts that we can trade trades with. Today I drove here from Rancho Cucamonga in search of torque screws for a shed of mine. When my number came up, the tall guy with pimples and a goatee came over to me and just looked at me...no "hello" or "can I help you." I showed him the bolt I needed and even brought him a torque or star bit I preferred the bolts have the fitting for; I asked for six such bolt replacements. All while I was explaining what I needed, he was holding a conversation with someone else behind the counter. He returned from the back with one bolt a different length, a phillips head instead of a torque head, and no attention was given to my request that it be a flathead bolt. Generally, he treated me like crap. Maybe I am the wrong color or ethnicity for this place. He clearly showed me that he didn't give a damn about me as customer. I have several friends who frequent this place. I will be relating this experience to them; King Bolt might want to consider that those working at their counter represent them and the great quality of service they've been respected for over the years. One jerk really can negatively impact their hard-earned positive reputation.
