Wow! So good!! Had the one lb boil bag and it was delicious! I added corn and potatoes. It was like New Orleans all over again.

I really wanted to like this place but the oysters were not fresh at all. Looks like they used ice to try to hide the grayness of the oysters and it had a funky taste. We got the crawfish boil and the sauce was good but the crawfish tasted tuff. It's also just crawfish in the boil, it does not come with any potato's or sausages.

Was craving seafood boil so I came here with my friends! It wasn't too busy for dinner on a weekday. The service was excellent and the food was good, but it wasn't the best seafood boil I've ever had. However, the seafood boil flavor was good and the cajun fries were huge. Their medium spice wasn't too spicy, so if you are a spice lover you should go spicier. I thought that the corn and potatoes were okay, but nothing special.

Pros: good friendly service, good flavor on the "Kick Me" medium spicy sauce, crispy chicken wings Cons: Bland Garlic butter sauce, no flavor on the chicken wings or choice of flavors First time here and I'd come back. Since we're in the Covid Era, I ordered it to go. 1lb garlic butter shrimp ($12 per lb)1 order red potatoes ($1.75) 3 corn ($.85 each), 1lb shrimp ($12 per lb) Kick Me sauce, 1 order red potatoes ($1.75) 3 corn ($.85 each), 2 orders chicken wings (6 for $6.5), and a side of fries ( big enough for sharing). Only one hiccup was that while driving home, I think some of the shrimp continued to cook by the time I got home about 10 min later. So, some of the shrimp turned out mushy. I'm sure if the shrimp was eaten fresh it would have made a difference. Personally for me, the garlic butter sauce needed MORE GARLIC and a bit more salt. The shrimp tended to have a different aftertaste also, so I'm not sure if that's from the drive home. The medium level spice Kick Me sauce had the buttery, Cajun-y spice flavor and I would personally stick with this or upgrade 1 level hotter to the "Holy Moly". Chicken wings were nice & crispy outside and moist inside, but seasoning nowhere to be found. Instead, there is just ranch sauce for dipping. Fries were crispy on the outside and semi soft inside. Oddly enough I didn't see fries on the menu. The parking lot is shared with other businesses, and the place is cozy. Also, Rockstar Shrimp is open for DINE-IN business! If you're doing a take away order they have to-go table coverings for convenience! Come and check them out here!

Straight fire!!! The seafood in a bag is delicious. Very messy, but all worth it. GREAT flavors to satisfy any appetite. I can never finish the bag as I always order too much but I warm it up on the stove the next day and it taste just as great!

It's not boiling crab but it's just as good. i've been here a handful of times and it never disappoints. i always have to order the fish and chips.. the fish always tastes so good. Service isn't that great it it'll do. Also love how big of a serving the fries are. My girlfriend loves the shrimp and she always wants to come here.. recommend 10/10 read more

The only reason I'm giving it 4 starts is because their sausage bowl is way to salty. Idk if it was just my batch but i couldn't even finish is. My boyfriend got the shrimp sausage and corn bag and it was pretty delicious. I can say his experience was happy. At least i enjoyed a nice cold beer that night read more

Super yummy! We were debating on this place and red lobster, so glad we came here! We had some of the lobster tails, crab legs, and of course the shrimp all of it was delicious. Highly recommended for the seafood lovers out there. My husband loved the super relaxed atmosphere that encourages you to get a little messy. read more

I really like this restaurant, the sauce they use is soooooo delicious. I always ask for lemons on the side to put in the bag of shrimp later on. The only reason I do not give this place 5 stars is because they only have one waitress. Sometimes when there are more than 3 tables there, the waitress takes long bringing orders. But the food is so good that it makes up for the wait. read more

Small little spot by ucr with great Cajun seasoned seafood ala the Boiling Crab. I had the shrimp and it tastes freshly cooked and seasoned well. Beer selection is ok. Some draft options and a wider selection would be great. read more

Looooooovvvveee this place. Good service, great food. Laid back environment, and relatively inexpensive. There seem to be lots of UCR students whenever I go. I always get the "a lil' bit of everythang" combo with the "kick me" spicy level. It's the perfect amount of spice for me. The sauce is my favorite part of coming to the place, there's sooo much garlic in it. The curly fries are pretty good as well. And they taste delicious with the seafood bag sauce. I always add a corn on the cob to my seafood bag, the corn soaks up the favors of the sauce. I've also heard the fried oysters are mouthwatering, but I haven't tried them--next time. read more

Nice friendly place to enjoy some quality seafood. I have to admit I wanted boiling crab but didn't want to drive all the way to one of their locations, especially since I was jet lagged coming in from Boston. I checked out the reviews for this place, and I can say its definitely satisfying and I did not have to wait to get a table. I will surely come back before my trip is over. read more

This place is good if you want a cajuny seafood fix but I found it meh. The Holy Moly sauce had the heat, which I liked, but it tasted like there was flour in the sauce so it was kind of pasty-tasting. It was kind of hard to get through but the heat kept me going. I want to explore other similar places before I decide if I'll go back. I'm obsessed with Kickin Crab in the OC and was hoping to find something similar here. :/ read more

Ordered king crab, snow crab, mussels , and shrimp... Long story short, the whole family got food poisoning! Stick to The Boiling Crab! These mom and pop joints are not built for this! Lesson learned! read more

We ordered peeled shrimp with sausage but noticed that we barely got any shrimp in our bag (legit only 10 shrimps) which seems like the biggest rip off. It's highly likely that they weigh the shrimp together with the sauce instead of by itself and the sauce was already weighing around a pound even after finishing the sausage and shrimp inside. read more

The food here is great. However, our recent experience with a server by the name of Gabby has now caused for us to no longer attend this establishment. She requires additional training on maintaining composure during high stress environments. Unfortunately, due to her lack of client relations skills we left the establishment and will not be returning anytime soon. read more

Went in for the first time smelled decent so i was expecting some good seafood. Ordered 1lb of the mix with the medium grade house sauce but was disappointed. Everything was cooked i guess but it was drenched in this sauce not a problem was expecting it. However the texture was off it was grainy as if they got packaged sauce and didnt dissolve it entirely. It was like eating sandy red sauce not goin here again. read more

This is the closest to boiling crab for us UCR students. It fulfills my cravings. The crawfish and shrimps are good, addicting. Fries are good. Price is reasonable, about the same pricing as boiling crab but you save on gas and the time driving there and back and most importantly no crazy wait just to be seated!!! The workers are friendly, no snobby attitude like you get at most asian places. Definitely highly recommend. read more

Second time here, ordered the food to go. I got the sausage bowl, gumbo and the vegetable egg rolls. It maybe took twenty minutes in and out. Call ahead of time to make reservations to dine in because the place is small also call in your order for faster service. The staff and service was excellent! read more

Came here to save gas and time for seafood, ordered shrimp with mild Cajun sauce and potatoes, the sauce taste like shit, taste like ton of salt and weird. the only rockstar here, the waiters. the Chef need learn to cook from other competitor especially popular Cajun sauce. Folks if you know what I'm talking about don't even try the Cajun sauce you will be disappointed and waste your money. read more

It's pretty good but sometimes it can be very salty...it needs some sweetness to it...if it was less saltier with some type of sweetness to it , it would be perfect and better than boiling crab and hot and juicy crawfish...it's like in between them both but as of now, I feel hot and juicy crawfish is the BEST out of all the boiling seafood spots I have been to and trust me I have been around when it comes to food...LOL I'm a food addict!!! read more

Great Service. Medium spicy was way too salty. I have to put food into hot water to remove the salty mixture. Shrimp was fresh, sweet, and big. Crab legs were too old, either not fresh or overcooked. I would order only shrimp. read more

The food here is amazing! My husband and I visited because we had been looking for a new spot to eat, we loved it so much that we returned the next day. The portions are big and they're large enough for you to share with up to three people. I ordered the shrimp, which was delicious and fresh and my husband ordered the snow crab. Sure they were good but it's hard to mess up a taco. The mixed drinks were good and dainty, small glasses, small portions but good. I tried one and it was served in a tall slim glass filled with ice from the bottom to the top. Let's talk about the food, they have appetizers and 2 main plates. I had a chicken chorizo sandwich. It was ground chicken and chorizo formed into a patty between two soft Chinese soft pancake buns type buns with onions and fingerling potatoes. "WHAT?" I know I know. I had to try it. I had to try it but removed the potatoes and ate them by themselves. My wife had tacos. Since it's next to a university, most of there customers were between 21 and 27. Other than another person sitting at the bar, they were only three people older than 40 at this place and that's including us. So if you're looking for a place to go out for dinner, this is not it even if you're a university student this is not the place for dinner if you're looking for a pitstop to grab a drink or a taco maybe this place. But if you're looking for Tacos, there's a taco stand right before this place that seems to be very popular.

There was so much food, I had to box up half to eat the next day. Extra thank you to the wonderful staff and accommodating our needs at the last minute.

I would have given this place 3 maybeeeee 4 stars but bc of the service and the amount of shrimp given. It's 2 stars. My husband and I love kickin crab &a boiling crab but we moved to Riverside we figured let's find a place similar in our area. The 1st time we ordered A pound of shrimp, 2 corn & sausage. We love spicy food so we got the 'I wanna cry' spicy sauce. Well I give it 5 stars for the sauce ! My nose was runny so bad that I fell in love with it!! They charge $2 for extra side of sauce. We did notice that the shrimp didn't seem like a lot compare to 'kickin crab'bc we usually don't finish the bag. At this place we finished the bag and felt ok not full but ok. I happened to have overheard Kendall which I'm guessing is the main guy who runs the place wanting to overcharge the customer for an item he didn't purchase so instead of refunding the money he gave the guy the beer the guy seemed full and not wanting to drink it. I thought that was rude. Kendall seemed loud and kept trying to prove the customer wrong. 2nd TIME AROUND My husband and I decided to give this place a 2nd try. After dinner we decided that we won't be coming back to this place anymore. So this time we just ordered a pound of shrimp, corn & Cajun fries. My husband asked for gloves and Kendall who was was our server got him some but charged .25. Once our food came we ate again we noticed that the shrimp was just a little amount. My family and I usually go to Boiling Crab but it's too far so we came across this location and it's so much better! They're very similar but I feel like the seasoning this place uses on the shrimp is so much tastier. Service was great and nothing but great vibes at this place.
