I return to Main Street Bagel after trying a few others. They all have their interesting twists but I continue to return to Main Street bagel in Flemington, NJ because the taste of the on prem baked bagels, coupled with great fresh toppings, and care for consistent quality and rich flavors keep me coming back again and again. My go to is a Toasted Onion bagel with Bacon(crispy) eggs, cheese, katchup, pepper, a dash of salt. Heaven in Hunterdon County. Coffee is always fresh and rich. Service is amazing as only a small American diner can deliver. I love coming to Flemington's Main Street and enjoying the old school shop to bring the experience home. It's got plenty of clean seating, in warmer months sitting on their front porch is a must. I'll always search for a nice bagel but I'll always return to the great American Bagel restaurant for the best quality & flavors anywhere. read more

Main Street Bagel gives us (another) good reason to visit downtown Flemington, NJ. Since the old classic Union Hotel closed down and the historic courthouse of Lindbergh kidnapping trial fame ceased being an active justice center, things have gotten rather desperate on Main Street. Thankfully, this bagel/deli moved in a couple years ago and is successfully making a go of it, even in this difficult Age of Covid. I picked up my breakfast Onion w Veggie Cream Cheese the other day before a visit to a car dealer out on Route 202 for an annual service appointment. The sandwich was very good - decent sized roller with crisp skin requiring sharp teeth and strong jaw, surrounding a lighter air pocketed center, exhibiting a pleasant mild malty flavor, and a generous smear of veggie bit loaded cream cheese spread that leaked out the back just a little with each bite. Had to get my fingers shmutzie to contain it. Didn't mind at all, as I had yanked enough napkins on my way out to cover that possibility. Plentiful topside onion flakes, too. Self serve coffee offered enough basic choices to keep me well caffeinated through my time in the waiting room (properly socially distanced). I tried to be neat in this upper end auto lounge, but admit that some of the toasted flakes did escape my careful mastication and take flight, eluding my grasp, and spinning to the well polished floor. I picked up what I could see, but knew there were probably a few hiding from view. The dealer might not join me in this opinion, but Main Street Bagel will likely be the place I return to when I plan provisions for the next scheduled appointment with the well trained certified mechanics. read more

I love the bagel, owner and staff. I have a problem with cleanliness. Cant sit outside because it is never cleaned up, tables and floors dirty with food so it attracts flies and other creatures, Inside, is also dirty. The coffee station, coffee machine is never wiped clean, I am sure the inside of the coffee machine or carafes are never cleaned. I know they are busy, but it does not take alot of time that you cant wipe down the tables occasionally. I have a problem having our freinds meet there for breakfast/lunch for that reason read more

Main Street Bagels is exactly what you think of when you say "bagel shop". One of my family's favorite traditions is to get a dozen bagels early on Sunday AM before the day starts off. The friendly staff usually even throws in an extra bagel ! The plain bagels are a staple but I just love the in your face taste of a fresh everything with cream cheese. I stop in here with my mama everytime I'm in the area. This place is a wonderful addition to an otherwise eh Main Street these days. The bagels here are the perfect blend of crispy and fluffy. I'm the honey wheat's number 1 fan!! Family usually rocks the everything bagel, which they all rave about. For a pork roll, egg, and cheese girl, these sandwiches are no joke. They slice their pork roll thick and pile on 3 gigantic slices. Any more would be too much! The staff here are always friendly and service is FAST! I have lived in NY, NJ, and all over the country. This is the best authentic bagel shop period. The bagels are always fresh and when you order a bacon egg and cheese you get BACON. Not 1 or 2 strips, more like 5 or 6. Their sausage is another amazing item on the menus. Of course they also have the best deli meat courtesy of Boars Head. Great staff always welcoming and fun to talk to. We just moved to Flemington and after trying all the bagel shops in the town this quickly became our weekend spot. P.S. Here's why I rounded down. -My coffee tasted burnt. -Perfect chewy crust but inside missed the "oomph" taste that high-gluten wheat flour gives. Not a large space but has a few tables inside to sit down and enjoy a bagel. Basic bagel varieties here. Good for them in dousing the poppy bagels in poppy seeds. This place used to be a favorite but no longer. We waited a half an hour for our sandwiches, salad and soup. We wondered why we hadn't gotten soup or salad since they shouldn't take a half hour to make. There were only two other customers in the place and they had been served. As we approached the counter to ask what was taking so long, the workers realized they didn't even have the meat to make the cheesesteak. That will be our last trip to Main Street Bagel. read more

I really have nothing but good things to say about Main Street Bagel. Friendly, clean, delicious are a few words to describe them. Although I live in Atlanta I stop here on the way back to the airport every time I visit my parents. It's usually 2 or 3 times a year. The owner is very friendly and always remembers us when we go there. I call my order before we go in (usually 3 dozen mixed to go) and its' ready and waiting when I arrive. The price is fair and the bagels are delicious even after a flight down the east coast. Street parking is always easy to find and there is rarely a wait that is longer than 1 minute. I wish I had a pic of my chicken salad wrap, but that 's how good the food tasted. I was in Flemington for business and in two weeks I ate here three times. The staff is always courteous, and the service is quick. The chicken salad, tuna salad, beef taco wrap are amazing. I did try the BBQ chicken wrap and it was okay. Not enough BBQ sauce for my liking and I would have more in the wrap or on the side. There are an number of healthy drinks available, like Bai5. Main St Bagel Co is one of the best around Flemington. When I first moved here I thought there would be better Bagel places but unfortunately there aren't. Anyway this place helped fill the void. The owner is extra nice and he has a better than average bagel selection. Their breakfast and lunch are both phenomenal especially the grilled chicken Bagel. Seating is good. I love these bagels. I prefer them over The Bagel Club actually. Not to mention it's downtown, so it's nice to get a bagel or sandwich and sit outside eating breakfast. I've actually only been INSIDE once, usually my boyfriend goes and gets the paper and grabs some bagels or a sandwich on Sunday morning. I love poppy seed bagels, and I really hate when all of the seeds on just on the top of the bagel. You don't have to worry about that here, these bagels are LOADED on whatever it is that you ordered.
