We had a faulty install of a Moen Flo device and pressure valve that was completed by another company arranged through Frontdoor. After lots of frustrating effort to get the problem resolved Frontdoor finally arranged Rocky's Plumbing and Rooter as our service provider. My first contact was with Natalie, who was outstanding in terms of customer service and advocating on our behalf with Frontdooor. She essentially took ownership and made sure that we got next day service and Ruben came and completed the job with expertise and professionalism. Our homeowners insurance required we install a Moen Flo automatic water shutoff. The device included "standard installation" organized through a company, Frontdoor Pro, that picks the plumber/acts as a middleman. Rocky's came in December, the person said it would take more work he didn't have the time to do and we would get a quote for the extra work. We received a quote for $550 (on top of the $700+ we paid for the device/"standard installation"). All the quote said was "modification of main water line plumbing . we will cut out tee and will have to cut the pvvc and dig up existing shutoff valve". We have a small rose bush, which is what I assume they wanted to remove? I reached out to Frontdoor (because I don't have Rocky's info at this point). I didn't feel comfortable signing off with such limited info. Months go by and Frontdoor ignores my many emails. My insurance is threatening to terminate our coverage. I track down Rocky's info and talk to a nice woman, send her photos. She says she'll talk to her supervisor and get back to us by the end of day. I reach out again and again over several weeks. About 6 weeks after my initial contact she responds and says that we need to ask Frontdoor to reassign the job to them and they'll submit a new quote. Frontdoor reached out to schedule, but I told them I hadn't received an updated quote. They told me I'll receive a new quote when the plumber comes. We had a 8am-noon window. Around 8am I'm getting calls from Frontdoor and Rocky's saying I need to authorize the quote before the plumber gets there but I didn't have a quote to authorize. I end up with a quote for $545, this time itemized/detailed, breaking down $300 of cost is to excavate up to 8 cubic feet of dirt. I'm realizing that this is probably generic language and likely not what they'll actually need to do. We're on a time crunch so I signed.  The plumber shows up, I told him about the struggle we've had and he said the guy who came out in December should have been able to install it. He told me that we would get the device installed, but that we didn't need to keep it plugged in. He said he'd adjust the cost and it'll be $135, not $545. The plumber shows me the installed device and I confirm that it isn't plugged in but that doesn't matter and he says yes. He leaves. I find it strange that he didn't mention running the taps. I tried the kitchen and bathroom sink, nothing. I think maybe it has to do with the fact that the device is not plugged in, even though he said it was OK. I see that there's a bad drip coming from a joint. I plug the device in to see if the app tells me anything. As soon as I plug it in and turn it on, water shoots several feet into the air, all over me. I pull the handle and see that the pipe is completely detached at the joint that had been dripping. I text Rocky's, sending photos and videos. A woman called me saying the plumber would be back in about a half hour. She told me once he's done, he should have me run the bathtub tap on cold. The same guy shows up. I go out to talk to him but he's on the phone saying things like "there was no drip", etc. so I think he's on the phone with the company. He didn't even look up at me so I went back inside the house because I was tired of standing there watching him work and talk on the phone, ignoring me. Maybe a half hour goes by and he knocks on the door. He said he completely missed sealing that joint and that's why it came detached (makes sense). Then he had me turn on the tub and check the faucets before leaving again. When I looked at his second attempt at this job, I was so frustrated. The first time, there were solid copper pipes leading up to the device. They were even and looked nice and the device was sitting straight up, etc. Now, the entire right side that was once a solid pipe, looks like several of the joint pieces stuck together. One side is longer than the other, so it's not parallel to the ground anymore, and the device is at an angle, literally leaning on the house. I acknowledge I know little about plumbing, but the fact that it was installed one way the first time and differently the second time makes me think he rushed and pieced something together to save on costs rather than using a solid pipe again. I worry that those pieces (the one that he didn't seal right the first time and is now running the entire length of what was solid pipe) is going to leak/explode. It sits right in front of our hour and looks horrible. I thought about calling them to fix this guy's mistakes, but I don't want them doing any more work on my house anyway. I'm so disappointed all around: the first guy not doing the job, the quote that gave no info/was way over actual cost, the 6 weeks of ghosting, causing a water fountain in my front yard/not checking the water before leaving, and then the extremely subpar fix. As homeowners, we'd been burned pretty badly by a contractor before, so I'm always on guard- but I can tell you now, that it was a smooth ride from the start; from Natalie with dispatch, (they even squeezed me in in less than 24hrs on a Saturday to save me from my insurance cut off date to install water and gas shutoff devices!) to our technician, to prompt invoicing. Karl came from Rocky's Plumbing and Rooter and installed our automatic water shutoff device in about 10 minutes- it was refreshing and reassuring to have a contractor out here that was knowledgeable and confident in what he was doing. In conversation, we learned he's been doing this for 12+yrs so that explains why he knew his trade so well. I will 100% call Rocky's again for anything I need remotely related to their expertise; I'd recommend anyone else that's on the fence do the same. Happy plumbing! read more

Terrible service. Keep wanting to change my appointment. They install a shut off valve unit and after they left, my water heater wasn't working. Had no hot water. Call them to have them come back and they refused. They are a plumbing company and the person I talk to said they only install moen shut off unit and wouldn't know what to do about the water heater. The work (water heater replacement) was performed as part of my home warranty, so I had no choice in service provider. Only learned from another plumber 11 mos later how poorly the work had been done. - First, they installed badly dented water heater; I had asked the installer initially if that was a problem but was assured it was fine. Two separate new plumbers told me it should've never been installed and I'm lucky it is cosmetic. - Second, we apparently had a broken water supply valve and they didn't bother fixing it. So, in case of a leak we have to shut water off to the whole building and disrupt our neighbors. -Third, they didn't add any tape at connection points on the vent connector for the exhaust, so carbon monoxide vapors could be leaking into our into our garage (fortunately one of the new plumbers taped at no cost). That was already bad, but it got worse. When I reached back out to Rocky's seeking help, their customer engagement specialist was defensive without listening to me, talked over me on the phone, and then ignored me via text when I asked for either the serial number for the heater so I could reach the manufacturer instead, or for them to come replace it. I'll admit, I was forceful in my follow up as I outlined my concern for the safety of my family resulting from their poor work and asked for them to make it right; they responded by ignoring their culpability and instead questioned the validity of my new plumber. I asked again for the serial number or for someone to replace the dented heater, and they ignored all additional outreach. I will never work with Rocky's again, and I just hope this review prevents others from falling into a trap like this. read more

One of the few times a contractor recommended by American Home Shield has been really good! The service requested was to clear the "clean-out" to the sewer. They came out, were professional, respectful & friendly, and completed the work quickly. The guy used a high power water device with some kind of blade on the end of it rather than the traditional auger that can get stuck. He said it was more advanced than the traditional method. So already off to a great start with initial conversation. Karl, who showed up bright and early, on time, was nothing short of amazing. A great person and extremely personable and easy to work with. Me, being a tradesmen by profession, am super critical and judgmental of having other contractors work on my house. But surprisingly, I have nothing bad or to critique about this guy. He was on point. Came in and got the valve installed in like 20 mins, got the gas valve installed in another 15 mins. Tested everything and walked me through the operation. He kept his work area clean and made sure to clean up any mess left behind. He comes across honest and sincere. I had him look at a couple future projects I had in mind and I really felt he gave me honest, no bullshit costs and suggestions. Similar to another post, I was referred to them after requesting service through American Home Shield. I didn't receive a call back within 24 hours as stated in my initial communication with AHS. The initial contact from AHS stated that I would receive a call from Rocky's within 24 hours , not 24 to 48 hours. I also left a message at the number provided. Of note, their voicemail doesn't state the business name which does not provide me with confidence especially after reading previous reviews. Went through warranty with AHS and was connected with Rocky's. They were great! Understand that if you go through AHS, it's a process to follow. You'll likely have to leave a message when you call directly,(because I know I'm not the only customer in the queue :P) but they WILL call you back. Our bathroom was experiencing back up/flooding and when the team came by, they were able to clear the clog and also diagnose the root of the problem. I could tell that there was years of experience in the way he articulated causes to the clog (based on our type of home, home age, area, and possible pipe types) and he was 100% correct. The drain pipe was not leveled in the correct direction. We were able to resolve the issue with our contractors by telling them that and got the faulty pipe releveled in the proper direction. Saved us $$$ in the long run thanks to Rocky's team. Great service overall and easy payment options. Appreciated their upfront honesty and willing to work with me. I don't believe I ever made a bad review about a company that I was involved with. This plumbing company is in the list of certified contractors of American Home Shield, my home warranty company, that they sent to look at my stoppage on my kitchen sewer line to the main line after paying $100. They did the usual snake process twice and reported that they found mud on the snake and requested AHS the use a camera to find the problem. AHS did not approve it saying it was my responsibility since it's not part of my contract. It was an emergency so I contacted another plumbing company, Gasca Plumbing, who did the identical procedure and they were able to clear the stoppage. They went down the crawl space to inspect and found my sewer pipe intact. The report that Rock's Plumbing wrote to AHS was there was a SLAB LEAK. How can there be a slab leak if my house is NOT built on a SLAB but rather have a crawl space. I had a great experience with Rocky's Plumbing and Rooter. A previous company had left me in a terrible situation and unhooked my hot water tank, leaving me with no heat. Rocky's came out and diagnosed the problem again, got my heat started and made a follow up appointment to do minor repairs. I am with American Home Shield and he worked with them to get my water heater working but didn't try to upsell me on a costly replacement when it wasn't needed. He advised me on what to look for and when it would need to be replaced. I will definitely be calling Rocky's Plumbing and Rooter for all of my future plumbing needs. I found them easy to work with, reliable and quick to respond, plus great service at excellent prices.
