What a great little spot with a vintage throw back to the 50's. Great decor, located downtown Brevard, with old school malt shop vibe. We stopped in after shopping downtown to try their hot dogs's and we were not disappointed. A must try for a quick bite. Staff was young but super friendly and it's attached to a very cute store you can browse after you eat. We got a hotdog with chili, slaw, onions, chips, and a drink and added another plain hot dog along with a small kids ice cream for under $20. The buns were steamed and everything came out quickly. We were so excited that Rocky's reopened. We've been coming to Brevard for 22 years, and this was a must do for us. Today, we were disappointed. While the burgers and hot dogs were still the same, no more pickled tomatoes - just tiny cheap pickle spears. Bags of chips instead of them placed in the baskets. Automatically charged 20% tip for a party of 6 - though it was so busy we couldn't sit together. Two people at one table and 4 at an another hardly constitutes a hardship on the waitstaff that would justify an imposed tip. I might have given more naturally - I'm a good tipper- but being forced is incredibly tacky. It feels like the new ownership has taken a local tradition and turned it into a burn and churn tables tourist trap. read more

Great soda shop and luncheonette in the pretty town of Brevard, NC. A throw back to the 60's in it's retro design and decor. If you'd like to revisit that time and era, Rocky's is for you. Probably the best BLT I've ever had. Their specialty hotdogs are also very good. Service was friendly and great. There are no words to describe how adorable and nostalgic this place is! This has been my husbands favorite restaurant since he was a child and now that we come here with our own child in adulthood it's easy to see why. The decor is adorable and is set up like a true 50's style diner. You can order ice cream and milkshakes which our son loved. The price point is great and the food is excellent and fresh. LOVED this little diner! If I lived here I would so be a regular. I'd have a received stool at the counter and everyone would greet me when I entered. (Cheers reference for those old enough to get that). It is an old school diner with the black and white floor. Not very big do you may have to wait. It was just my husband and myself and we were seated immediately. Rachel was our assigned waitress, she was very busy, and the owner stepped up to take care of us. He was great and Rachel did check up on us. I had the Chicken Salad BLT wrap. It came with a bag of Sea Salt Kettle Chips. My husband had a Cheeseburger with the kettle chips. The burger had pickles, onions, lettuce, and tomato. It regularly comes with Duke's mayonnaise, but my husband had it without. Being at a Soda Shop we had to get a treat. I had a classic Root Beer Float. The owner actually brought out a small glass with extra root beer to add to the ice cream left in my glass. My husband had a Black Mountain Brownie - warm fresh bake brownie, vanilla ice cream and hot fudge. We were shocked at how big the sundae was. This was a great, friendly diner in lovely Brevard. I needed a hot dog, and this was the closest place for me. What a fun little soda shop! I was served immediately, ordered my hot dog, with just pickle spear and mustard. The hot dog came, the pickle spear was on the hot dog, but chopped up, didn't expect that, but it was ok, different, for sure..there were also a couple of dill sliced pickles...The hot dog was grilled and the bun was more like bread, but toasted and was really good. There was a sign for Nathan's, not sure if that was a Nathan's dog, didn't matter, it was very tasty. The hot dog was grilled perfectly. We were walking around downtown Brevard with our dog, Rocky, and had to stop at Rocky's Grill! Loved that they had a menu posted outside so that we could figure out what we wanted! We fully intended on getting a peanut butter chocolate ice cream, but the special flavor at the time was peach. We are huge peach fans, and with it being a hot summer day, we knew we had to change our minds. We are so glad we did because it was a strong peach ice cream, natural peach, not that candied peach, with chunks of peach. It was one of the best peach ice creams that I have had. We also got a small vanilla scoop for our pup, which he thoroughly enjoyed! Fantastic experience and highly recommend! read more

Absolutely love this place! So glad it has reopened. Serviced was really good, refilled drinks as needed. I had the pimento cheese burger with everything on it. Nice and messy the way a burger should be. Also added a Hot Diggity dog with it, chilli, slaw and onions. It was delicious as well. They serve Coke products here and that's a plus for me. They serve chips with the meal, that would be my only negative, some good crinkle cut fries would be awesome. But it still is amazing. Right off the bat, really cool place. 1950s diner, lots of memorabilia from when they first started out and about some of the employees who used to work there back in the day. Used to be a pharmacy also. The bathroom doors have Elvis and Marilyn Monroe on them, which I thought was really charming. My husband had a delicious juicy hamburger with chips and a root beer. I had a grilled cheese with chips and they made it exactly how I wanted it which was great. They have tons of ice cream and malts and floats, so if you have a sweet tooth. This is the place to go. Also, there's a really cool store right next door or you can get anything from bakeware two T-shirts to jewelry. Now let's talk about the service. Greeted with a smile from everyone. I don't think I've been to a place that's friendly in about 10 years. Kudos to the staff. We got T-shirts to commemorate this occasion. What a fun place. Highly recommend. read more

There was no wait for a table at ~12p (there were quite a few people that came in as we were leaving, school was getting out), service was incredibly quick and the better Mac hit the spot! We only ordered Coke Floats so we can't speak for the taste of the dogs or burgers but they did look good. The floats had a pretty good amount of vanilla ice cream in them. We ended up at Rocky's by happy accident after going hiking in DuPont Forest. There was a wait, but we put our names on the list and went to look in some shops. Once a spot was ready, we were seated at the bar. The waitress was super friendly, as were everyone else we interacted with. They have boxes of trivia cards on the bar so that you can have some laughs while you wait for your food. It was a bit of a wait, but we were seated in front of the grill, so we saw how hard & efficiently they were working. I got the hot ham sandwich and while it wasn't anything fancy, it was perfect for what I wanted. The bread was crispy off the grill, the cheese was good and the ham was warm. The OH ordered a cheeseburger and he really enjoyed it as well. Oh, and I LOVE the crushed ice!! The shakes and ice cream looked awesome, but we didn't get any this visit. read more

We sat at table b8 and asked for the traditional two straws one cup...of her attitude wasn't enough (although we tried to ignore it) she brought two cups and had everything completely separate. Understanding covid has impacted the reason our cup wasn't glass is fine but simple instructions couldn't be followed....defiantly some training in customer service needed. We stopped at Rocky's for a quick lunch on our way out of Brevard, after hearing of so many good experiences from my parents. Luckily this Friday afternoon left the restaurant/shop fairly empty so we were seated immediately. The ambiance was perfectly themed to an old fashioned Soda Shop, with details extended down to the wallpaper and napkin holders. Our server was friendly and our food was served quickly! During the few minutes we waited we walked into their conjoined General Store. The theming continued was expanded on with a "small town" vibe within the store, on the products being sold, and the wonderful selection of 50% off Christmas items! We finished up with sampling a few ice cream flavors, and grabbed a scoop of ice cream to-go. Definitely recommend this fun little restaurant and shop on your next Brevard visit! read more

A Nostalgic restaurant on the Main drag in Brevard that has a true throwback feeling. Open since 1941 with red and white Coca Cola decor. Marilyn on the ladies room and Elvis on the Men's room doors. Good variety on the menu and great prices on the dawgs of the kiddos. Their Covid prevention measures were thorough and innovative. See photo of credit card dip bucket. All employees wore masks and sanitizer was readily available for employees and customers. I ordered the grilled Ham it Up with their famous pimento cheese and I added bacon. My wife ordered a Rachel. All their sandwiches are served with chips and pickle slices. My sandwich was very tasty and the portion size was just right. The pimento cheese was melted and the ham was piled high. My wife enjoyed her Rachel and ate every drop including the chips and pickles. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was inviting. So after taking a long day hike I was starving and needed a snack. I decided to stop in Brevard and found this cool Soda Shop. I went with something simple and ordered The Mutt. This is just a basic hot dog with a side of chips and some bread and butter pickles. I also ordered a Chocolate Peanut Butter shake. It was fairly busy and this business along with all others now are doing take out/ curbside only. The staff I dealt with were all very friendly and I enjoyed walking around the attached general store while I waited on my food. My food and shake came out fairly quickly and tasted delicious.
