Believe the hype! Ice cream doesn't get much better than this, folks. I'd say it's on the expensive side for ice cream, but you definitely get your money's worth in both quantity and especially quality. Also, the people behind the counter are very nice and are happy to give samples, which in this place is quite necessary given the unique flavors. I ordered three flavors: Salty Sweet Cream, Whoopie Pie, and Goat Cheese & Blackberry Chambord Swirl (GC&BCS). All three were really good - especially the GC&BCS. The goat cheese was not overpowering, but added a subtly savory flavor that was perfect with the sweetness of the blackberry. The Whoopie Pie was great as well, though a little plainer. It almost just tasted like vanilla with some brownie mix-ins. Note the rating, though, so clearly simpler does not necessarily mean bad. The last flavor, Salty Sweet Cream, was very delicious on its own. This, however, is a flavor to be careful with when you order. It is not overpowering, and got a bit lost in the taste buds when it followed the other two flavors. So, I would recommend either ordering this flavor on its own, or eating it first if you order other flavors. Very tasty though, don't let the warning dissuade you from making this choice. I wish I could go back to Kennebunkport for this! Or I wish they had shops all over! read more

This is an easy review to write - the ice cream here is exceptional. Creative flavors, freshly made on site, and delicious. You may have to wait in a line, but it is absolutely worth it. We shared a flight--4 scoops--so we had 12 flavors over the weekend, not to mention a half dozen tastes. Absolutely worth the visit, the wait in line (even during peak at/after dinner time, the wait was only about 10-15 minutes), and the price was fine, about $6 for the flight. My husband and I stumbled upon Rococo's today. What a gem! The young man behind the counter was very personable and friendly, encouraging tastes of the many interesting flavors before making our choice. There were tried and true flavors like dark chocolate alongside a fantastic goat cheese blackberry and Chambord! The strawberry basil and spicy Rocky Road were out of this world too. My husband got a large size with 3 different flavors because it was too hard to narrow it down to two. We lived in Italy for a few years and became a bit picky about our gelato...this ice cream is dense and creamy and so flavorful, as good as the finest gelato. I wish there was more room to sit inside on those really hot afternoons, but there are outdoor spots to sit or walk with your treat. Bravo on a job well done! read more

This tiny ice cream shop (which I would have never found if it weren't for you guys) was me and my friends' last stop on our day trip to Maine, and it left an awesome taste in our mouths! I tried a scoop of the chai tea and a scoop of the cognac with chipotle. (It's been a while since I've been so I can't remember the EXACT flavor name, but I'm pretty sure it's close enough.) Rococo was our snack stop on a fall weekend trip to the Maine coast. The ice cream was absolutely delicious--we each combined two fall flavors to make our own concoctions that were so decadent we could scarcely finish a small-sized portion. The consistency of the ice cream was unlike anything I've had before--it was almost that of play doh which allowed the girl serving us to fold and carefully press the ice cream into the cups. Now, this ice cream shop is located in an expensive coastal town in Maine, and as such, is not immune to the oddities that come with catering to the rich and crazy. We were both doubled over in laugher after overhearing the following conversation: Middle-aged woman, alone: "Can I try the sea salt sweet cream? I think the two little ones might like it." Gestures toward the door. Rococo employee: "Sure." Leans over the counter to see the woman's husband standing outside with . . . two golden retrievers. "Oh. We have dog ice cream, you know!" The options are limited which makes it easier to choose from one of the unique flavors. I had spicy rocky road (with a hint of cayenne which gave it a kick) and honey vanilla which helped cool my taste buds down. We went to Kennebunkport for a day trip. We specifically stopped here because we read about it on another app. We have a child with Celiacs and need to be cautious about where we go. The staff behind the counter were all very knowledgeable about the flavors. The young woman that helped us first washed her hands, took a clean scoop, and served it from a brand new container, making sure there was no cross contamination. That made me feel so much better about giving it to my child. That said, the flavors are amazing! The staff is knowledgeable. The petite size was perfect and they really pack it in. A fun and different array of art - house flavors of ice cream. Yes, they're expensive at almost $5 per small cup, but you won't find the assortment of creative concoctions anywhere in the area. The rosemary, olive oil, and pumpkin seed vanilla was subtle, and enjoyed more than I thought I would. Sea salt and coconut was also good, not overly sweet and radiating coconut flavor. This place was fabulous. Go here. It's not traditional New England ice cream, but you are in for a treat. Their flavors change constantly and are small in portion, but you don't need a bigger portion!! You can get a cup with 4 different flavors. I did this and split it with one other person. All the flavors were amazing, but the fresh mint really stood out the most. For someone who has been growing up eating/cooking with fresh mint, this just took me right back to childhood memories. The great thing is that you can sample the flavors. If you're channeling your inner Tom Brady, they even have an avocado cayenne ice cream. Unfortunately that was the ONLY one that I didn't like. However, I appreciated the young lady who politely made it clear to the gaggle of teens who were attempting to run us over with their sample requests that she would be helping us first, and then them next. The best ice cream ever!!! Greeted as soon as we entered by a friendly young man. All four of us asked for samples of their very unique flavors. Hard to choose since they are looked and tasted so good. I had goat cheese honey whiskey fig. Served in a cup, it was one of the largest servings I've ever been served. I probably read 5 or 6 blog posts about what to do in Kennebunkport before my trip to Maine, and visiting Rococo for ice cream was mentioned in EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Of course, I needed to see what the hype was about, and my fiance' loves dessert too, so one afternoon we decided to check it out! We loved the unique flavors, and we also loved how soft the ice cream was (I hate that super hard, Baskin Robbins type of ice cream). Graham had the strawberry basil and lemon peppercorn together, which were both great (of course I tried them). I chose the cookie butter with chocolate and pretzels flavor and the goat cheese blackberry. The cookie butter one was my favorite! I don't even like pretzels, but the cookie butter flavor topped with the chocolate chunks and crunchy pretzel was a great combo. I liked how tart and flavorful the goat cheese one was too. This place had the best ice cream I have ever had. I sampled the spicy avocado which was good but I ended up with the salted caramel. All I can say is "DAMN" that was good. I splurged and went large cup. Made a pig of myself but it was worth it. The owners are fabulous to talk to. If they are not too busy, stay and talk with them. They are both young and have great personalities. The only bad part was they open around 12pm but it worth the wait. Do not go anywhere else as you will not be disappointed.
