Remember the days of a good old fashion burger and fries? Absolutely the best burger I've eaten in years. Original Burger / w pepper jack cheese. The service is quick and friendly. The atmosphere is 50's Rock and Roll decor and music. Feel free to dress the part and drive a classic car to the venue

You simply must try their Chicken Salad Sandwich on Sourdough bread, one of the things I really miss since moving from Calallen :(

I visited this restaurant since I had a job site in this town, a town in which I had never even…read moreheard of before. They offer lunch specials everyday, as well as all day breakfast, homemade pies and cakes, and homemade soups. They offer mostly American food, but there are some Mexican dishes thrown in for good measure. Their menu is a good size and has several good sounding options, like King Ranch chicken, but I came for the chicken fried steak mainly since it was recommended by others. I chose fried okra and mac and cheese for my sides. Chicken fried steak - this is a good thick chicken fried steak that doesn't quite extend to the breading on 2 sides, but it does on the other 2 sides. There is an obscene amount of country gravy on it, not sure why. Mac n cheese - decent version made with processed cheese. It really sticks to your mouth though. Fried okra - this was pretty good actually and lightly salted and crunchy. Not uniform in size and I'd venture to say they were even fresh okra. Dessert - since they have homemade desserts, I had to order something. They have a wide selection of pies, cakes and tiger bars. Tiger bars are similar to the pies, but in the shape of a bar and with an additional reeces like topping. I just stuck with a simple banana cream pie. Ambiance here was actually fairly quiet during the weekday lunch hour for their 2 dining rooms they have. Only 1 customer other than myself in the front room with the register and cold case, and about half of the rear room was filled with customers. Banana cream pie - I don't eat many of these since they're not exactly healthy, but I do love bananas. I thought their banana cream tasted mostly artificial though. There were no chunks of bananas. The crust saa just okay too. Overall, a decent experience with decent friendly service. I would probably try something else next time...and a different dessert too.

I went to **Chops & Eggs** in Corpus Christi expecting a good meal. I left convinced the place is…read morerunning some sort of delicious, well-lit conspiracy against boring breakfast. First of all, the ambiance: imagine an upscale hash house that got a promotion and immediately started dressing better--but didn't lose its sense of humor. It's polished without being pretentious, cozy without being sleepy, and stylish in that "yes, I woke up like this" kind of way. You feel instantly cooler just sitting down. Now let's talk about the owner, who is as charming and witty as the menu itself. The kind of person who could explain the specials or casually win a dinner-party debate at the same time. You get the sense this place isn't just run--it's hosted. Like you've been invited into a very tasteful, very funny friend's kitchen. The food, though. Oh, wow! Every dish arrives looking like it knows it's about to be photographed, admired, and then absolutely demolished. The flavors are vibrant, confident, and unapologetically delicious--nothing timid, nothing lazy. Each bite feels intentional, like the chef personally dared it to be that good. And speaking of the chef: whoever is behind the pass clearly has a hilarious sense of humor. Not in a "let's be weird for attention" way, but in a clever, playful, "I love my job and I want you to love this meal" way. The menu reads like it's in on the joke, and the food delivers the punchline--repeatedly. In short, **Chops & Eggs** is what happens when excellent taste, sharp wit, and serious culinary skill all sit down at the same table and decide to show off a little. Come hungry. Leave happy. Try not to smirk while you eat--it's harder than you think.

We stopped midday on a recent road trip to this small town burger spot with 50s diner charm and friendly people. Just off the freeway a bit, this is a great place for a tasty meal, ice cream dessert or snack pleaser We enjoyed some fried pickles while we waited for our tortilla burgers ( we added avocado). The pickle chips and ranch dressing was good but a little too salty for my liking. The tortilla burger was a veggie loaded cheesy smashed beef burger in two fried tortillas. Greasy but good. Fall all apart but finger-lickability. With a side of hot fries, this filled us up quickly. But not too full to not partake in an ice cream shake for the road. Needless to say, we couldn't move for a good two hours but we felt great having a bucket list item checked and a satiated palate.
