Chris came to assess our problem and said we had a small mole. But, since there hadn't been any recent damage, he thought the mole was gone. He gave some tips on how to tell if the mole was still active and how to get rid of the mole if it returned, but, since nothing needed to be done right now, he didn't charge for the visit. Our backyard has a hill which has a native plant landscape, meaning there are clear patches in between vegetation. All of a sudden our hill had hills, gopher hills that is. Rodent Guys did an excellent job with our rat removal job. We had 3 companies look at the job. We have had a problem at the home for a decade. We went with Rodent Guys because they seemed knowledgeable and did not try to sell us stuff we did not need. They started with rat trapping and exclusion. After they cleared the current rodent infestation they did the cleaning. We opted to clean the attic and replace the insulation. They had a 3 man crew at 7 am and finished the same day. We installed R45 insulation to lower our utillity bill. Everything was cleaned up and professional. We very happy with the rodent control and attic insulation jobs they did. It has been about 2 or 3 months and no rats which is the longest it has gone without rodents since I can remember. FIRST PART (11/25/14): So we just recently completed the "Lawn to Garden" project at our Long Beach home and had issues with gophers eating our new landscape. First it ate a Blue Fescue, then a Silver Curl, and then it ate a whole Kangaroo Paw plant. It was time to take em down!! My lawn was almost destroyed after I wasted a year using another company that had no idea what they were doing My Rodent guy service person came out and completely explained the process. He dug some deep holes, set many traps and in a couple days I even saw a dead gopher. It sounds crazy but it was one of the best days ever for me. I hired Rodent Guys to help with a gopher problem in both my front and back yards (7000 sqft). Art came over as scheduled, put up traps, and was very informative throughout. Respectful employee, fluent English speaker, and even left notes in my mailbox on business cards after every visit. Successfully caught two so far, and I'm about to call the business after I write this review as I've spotted a bit of activity in the back yard again (this is to be expected). I'll update this review at the end of my two months' period. If all goes well, I'll want to add that final star. I'll try to include a few photos as well. It all started in January. I noticed mounds of dirt on my front lawn. I thought my sprinkler system had broken. I thought the water was pushing the dirt into piles. It wasn't until late March, that the holes began. The holes seemed to have multiplied over night. The month of April arrives and I'm counting over 40 holes on my front lawn. I referred to my trusted source of online information "YELP" and found the Rodent Guys. My tech's name was Rob. He was very cordial and explained how the numerous holes, were utilized by the gophers. Since I own a pet. I opted for the non-poisonous treatments. Rob used traps and carbon monoxide gas to get rid of those pesky gophers. It took 6 visits and now my front lawn is gopher free! These guys are awesome. We are in south O.C. and had a super pesky golfer in the backyard that the Rodent Guys has to come out to finally eradicate after six (6) visits. That's correct, 6 visits. Gophers had quickly become a nuisance and the holes they left created a safety concern on our Little League fields. Ignoring the problem only made it worse as these things seemed to multiply ten-fold every season. After scheduling a survey, Rodent Guys came in well below what the others wanted to charge. Keeping our costs down was important especially because we are a non-profit that wanted to continue with regular monthly treatment. The techs were able to identify the problem, told us how the population was traveling down- and upfield, and provided multiple treatment options for our four fields. Because our league operates around kids, we opted for the trapping option. They also worked within our operating schedule, another huge plus. During the first month, they were able to successfully trap 100+ gophers (that had run rampant, having created ugly, collapsed tunnels through our fields)! Because we are adjacent to a state park, we are now on a monthly preventative plan and the guys report back with activity levels and whether any successful trappings occurred. I am happy to report our fields are looking much better than before and only once in a while do we see fresh activity. Even so, all we have to do is call and the Rodent Guys techs are all over it. I can't emphasize enough , how devastating 1 gopher can be to a lawn . Initially I asked neighbors how they dealt with a gopher problem . I received 50 different answers and 50 different methods ( from 'Water Hoses ...,to smoke bombs ). ... All good advise , but none were beneficial ... However .., the one response I did receive , was from a neighbor that praised "Rodent Guys" in San Dimas . I called and they sent out a Gentleman named 'Bruce' ... Bruce was 'bar none' an actual "Authority" as well as A "Teacher" , in the art of Rodent Elimination .. Bruce explained to me what he would do .. , what I should do after he prepared the trap laying and when he would reappear for follow up. ..... That Day , ... the culprit was extinguished .. How did I know ??? ... Because I made the mistake of leaving out my dogs in the area and they dug up the traps , with 'Gopher Gus' attached to one of them . I immediately called Bruce back ... Bruce packaged the evidence and as a follow up he reinspected the area and Gassed the tunnels to insure there were no more ... Great work by this company. They were very informative and open about what types of services they offered and how they would be carried out. Chris came out to our house and determined we had a ground squirrel problem. He was professional and thorough. The trap got one in just a day or two and Chris took care of the burrows and took preventative measures to be sure all openings were closed. He checked the traps for the rest of the required time and made sure to leave updates when we were't home. Even when I saw another squirrel a couple days after the service contract was complete, they offered to set up another trap for a day or two just to see if they could catch this newcomer. Very courteous and exemplary offer for I had incorrectly remembered part of the service contract. Give them a call if you have any rodent problems and you'll get results. read more

Pros: They come out every few days to check traps. Prices were reasonable. Cons: They communicate poorly - we never knew if a gopher was caught or not until he left us a note the very last time. My biggest issue is with their "guarantee." They do NOT cover you for 60 days after catching a gopher. It took over a month for them to get our problem under control. We have new gopher holes about 3 weeks after they caught one and they are refusing to come back out unless we pay more. They mis-represent what they offer and the woman on the phone handled it extremely poorly. I will find another service this time around. read more

If you have a problem with gophers, Rodent Guys WILL solve your issue. My front/back yard and side slope was a mess. New mounds virtually daily. When I initially found a mound I set a trap and managed to catch one. Thinking there was at least one other I continued to set traps when a new mound developed. No luck. As time passed the problem got worse. Decided to contact a professional who sent Jeffrey who came and assessed the problem. He continued to come weekly per their warranty and ended up catching 13 gophers over a period of 5 weeks. I was amazed by the number of gophers he caught. Before I go into great detail about how bad it has been I am giving them an opportunity to redeem themselves tomorrow. I have requested that a different technician service my property. Yikes!!! $250 to get rid of a gopher in my small garden! I would give them five stars if it weren't for the high price. Last year the price was half that...so in 12 months they doubled the price? The company said something about the government banning one of their poisons that they use and now they have to use other methods (once again the nanny government strikes to make out lives more complicated and expensive!). They will get rid of your gopher...but, face it, those rodents will eventually come back. They offer a monthly service of $50 a month...that is also high...$600 a year! Very good overall service. I had one gopher in my back yard, and they caught it within a couple of days after they came out to set the traps. They also informed me that they gassed the tunnels that were left behind by the gopher, just in case. The gentleman who came out to do the work was very nice. The price for my job was going to be $275 but I used their yelp deal which saved me $25, so the job overall cost me $250. I don't know if that is a good deal or not (I didn't shop around), but they got the job done and they also guaranteed their work. If anymore gophers came back within 2 months they would come back free of charge. read more

I have a big lot and beautiful fruit trees that produce the most delicious apricots and plumbs I have ever tasted. Except this year I could not taste even one. The squirrels destroyed them all before they were ripe. I was so angry but didn't know what to do. So I called a couple of places I could find online to deal with them. The first person showed up and told me that it would cost me a fortune to deal with it and it's best to leave them alone hoping that they would not show up again next year. I was so discouraged that I wanted to cancel my second appointment but I forgot. So sitting in my office I got a call from Rilo Philippi of Rodent Guys. He was at my house and I had completely forgotten about it. So I ran out and met him at my house. Boy am I glad I did. Rilo was a God sent. Not only he knows his stuff and has a world of experience, but he also knows how to communicate. He put me at ease and showed me a plan that could actually produce results. I immediately trusted him and he delivered every bit of what he promised. I am not seeing any more activities in my backyard. Have to wait and see what happens next year. Honestly a good company that sends good representatives out. We have a large 4 acre property with loads of fruit trees. Even our 3 German Shepards have tough time keeping the gophers, squirrels under control. Contacted Rodent Guys and they had a guy that was calm, assesses the land, have some education on pest behavior and signs. He said that the project for such a large property with lots of food for pests & vermin will require weekly effort and even then it will be risky to all the dogs we had. The person wasn't trying to sell us on anything and gave some pointers that suggested we would be able to do a better job IF we were consistently cleaned up the yard which would address having a cleaner yard and not introducing gassing around our dogs. I have been using their services to get rid of gophers and rats for about six months. Their prices are comparable to Orkin's but I like them a lot better especially that my serviceman Rilo was easily reachable by phone any time I needed him. They don't charge you extra for a service call, I paid $90 flat per month and could call them any time I saw a gopher in our yard and they would come within 48 hours. read more

I am very disappointed in the customer service of this company. If I could give negative stars I would. Called company to let them know that the traps they set flags are all down and that some of them appear to be out of the ground. I tried explaining to them that the landscaper will be out to mow the lawn and I did not want their traps or the landscapers equipment to be damaged. All I wanted was for them to come out and take care of their traps. I was told they would not cone out earlier then their scheduled date and it was implied that I might be responsible for any damage to their traps..... are you kidding me? If I wanted to handle the traps I wouldn't have PAID you to do it In the first place. All the flags that were on top of the traps are down and laying across the lawn away from their original placement. Traps are out of the ground and now I'm the one who should clean the up? Person I spoke to was very rude and typically of the it's your problem attitude. Save your money and do it yourself since obviously you will be the one dealing with the issue. read more
