When I arrived at Noon, he told me he can't help me because he's simply too busy. No sorry, no offer to help me tomorrow, no scheduling an appointment for the following week. I'm an old man now. Worked on my own cars, late model ones, not the computers on 4 wheels which are on the road now. After 40+ years of crawling around on my hands and knees in the driveway, I got tired of it and sold my two old cars and bought a new Ford in 1997. I have built engines, overhauled engines, removed and replaced transmissions, you name it, I have done it. I have only one car, the Ford. Time for the professionals to work on my car, I no longer want to work on cars. Took my perfectly fine running car to this place for preventive maintenance, flush the transmission, flush the radiator system, change the plugs and replace the ignition wires. Got my car back, it had an intermittent misfire in the engine. First thing they asked when I brought it back, "Did you wash the engine with water." No, I'm not that dumb. The plugs sit in a hole in the cylinder heads and any water or moisture down there can cause the plug to miss fire. They checked the engine with one of those analyzers, no problem found. Misfire continued. I decided to check everything they had worked on. The #3 plug was loose. It's a V8 engine. That plug is the hardest to replace, you can't actually see it, it's all done by feel. Only a couple of threads were holding it in cylinder head. If it weren't for the ignition wire attached to the end of the plug, it would probably come out of the hole. I replace all the plugs and the ignition wires. The engineers who designed and built this engine say the following...."Every time a spark plug wire is detached from a spark plug, a silicone dielectric compound (has the same texture as Vaseline jelly) should be applied to the inside of each boot before reconnection to seal out moisture and ensure a good electrical connection." None of the spark plug wires that I removed had any evidence of this compound ever being applied to the inside of the boots! After replacing the plugs and applying the compound to wires I replaced, I once again have a car that runs perfectly fine!! Professionals, yea sure!! This old Vietnam Veteran has once again been ripped off by Rodeo Autotech...Thank You Very Much! read more

Rodeo Autotech has a friend for life in me. About five years ago, my muffler dropped on the freeway on the way to work. The CalTrans guy gave me a temporary fix and followed me to Rodeo Autotech. I turned over my keys and didn't ask the price. I was broke anyway and it was going to HURT. Later that same day, I went to pick up my car and asked the charge. The reply was "No charge, ma'am". NO CHARGE. I will take my car there as long as they're in business and I tell everyone about how they treated me. read more

if I could give less than one star I would. I went to this place thinking I would pass smog and they told me I failed. I asked them why they thought I didn't pass and they said they couldn't tell me anything. no free retest no suggestions on repairs. one week later I took it to 4 less smog in Oakland and it passéd. they told me they think the place in rodeo didnt warm it up enough. smog places are supposed to tell you repair tips when your car doesn't pass. either they judged me to be stupid and thought I didn't know what to expect or they are a just flat out bad business. hate this place. wish I could go there and tell them... but it would just waste my energy. read more

We were on a road trip to Tahoe when I drove over a parking lot cement block and one of the cheap little metal pieces on my honda got scraped down and was hanging from the car and scraping the road. We called this shop and they were able to take us in immediately and reattached it free of charge in less than 10 minutes! Definitely an honest, great shop with amazing customer service. I came into Rodeo Autotech after failing smog at the previous shop I had gone to. The first spot I went to did not provide me with a good explanation for why it failed just said it had to do with my transmission and check engine light. I was freaking out thinking I needed a new transmission. I went to Rodeo Autotech for a second opinion. Upon first entering I was immediately greeted by the owner, Jason. Super friendly guy. The wait to get the car checked out was quick. Jason let me know that the issue was actually a quite easy fix, nothing major that would involve a new transmission. He even offered to run my smog for me to assure it would pass. Thankfully it passed and the check engine was no longer on. Before I left he told me to come back to him if the check engine light came back on and that he would look at it again. I not only appreciate the great and quick service but also the explanation and information he had provided me. I'm definitely bringing my car here first before anywhere else. read more

If I could give a negative star review that wouldn't be enough. Let me start by saying I am local to Rodeo and have in the past had good encounters at the shop. But when I bring my truck in to have it inspected before a sale and they send an itemized list of what "needs to be replaced" to the person buying it I expected it to be exactly what I know to be wrong with it. The "manager" explained to me the source of the squeaking in my front end is the lower ball joints.. ok no worries that's an easy fix and not expensive. Then he tells me the power steering rack is leaking and needs to be replaced- not fine, as I have driven it for years with no issues, no leaks, no steering issues whatsoever. Then the genius at the counter says that my battery needs to be replaced because it doesn't have enough cold cranking amps... "it only has 457, it needs at least 700 to start." At this point I start to realize they must have learned to be a mechanic from YouTube. Not to mention that all parts and labor they quoted were around 3k dollars. For $200 I could fix it in my driveway the right way. Last time I EVER recommend or take my vehicle to that shop again. Fair warning to anyone thinking about taking it there, be prepared for a hefty price tag for work that doesn't need to be done, by someone who isn't qualified to do the work. I hope Rodeo autotech reads this and knows they're crooked. read more

Purchased a used car (after being without one for 4 years) back in December '09 and took it to the local shop for smog test. I wasn't sure what to expect as it'd been so long without a car but the guys here were really great. Jason took the time to answer my questions related to the health of the car. I've seen them quite often since then and they've always taken the time to answer all my questions and provide recommendations what to do with my car, both in person and over the phone. I believe in my inner intuitive senses. When my truck started acting different I asked a dear friend to check my situation out . I had a feeling that my truck was worse off than I thought. When he told me that it was in need of a transmission , I wasn't shocked at all. His guy's don't do these kind of repairs. I then posted my issue on here. With several recommendations, I chose three businesses. I didn't go with the lowest estimate. I went with the small business owner. The local man.... I saved and worked long hours to reach the balance. Today he allowed me to pick him up and take him to my truck. We have been in several conversations. He's a new Dad and a loving family man. I feel like I have been blessed with a friend with a HUGE HEART. I am truly grateful for his experience and expertise. He called me with the bad news...My truck had more trouble with it. I have been bringing my car to Rodeo Autotech for a few months now for different services. So far, some things I've gotten done on my car are: tire rotation and alignment, oil change, and replacing the light bulb for the speedometer/dash. Bringing my car here is such a breeze! I love the early bird car drop off option. You can drop your car and key off at the shop and you can expect your car to get back to you fairly quickly. If you need a ride back to the shop, Jason is available to help with that as well (super convenient). I also appreciate the great pricing Rodeo Autotech has. For the longest time, I kept taking my car to a dealership or Costco for service, and I would always walk out of there feeling like I had to pay with an arm and leg. Very bad service...I went here to have my rear tire change and after they replaced it my tire pressure gauge does not work it says service tire pressure. I came back to have them check it i was told they do not have the tools to check the tire sensor with this type cause its a newr version i was advise to go to the dealer and have them check it so i went. The tire sensor press was damage i immediately called up rodeo auto tech and spoke to the owner itself guess what he denies any responsibility .i even pleaded cause the cost is too high to replaced the sensor. I was referred to Rodeo Autotech by a friend who is a long time customer there. I took my car there a couple of weeks ago for the first time and they did a great job in a timely manner. I had stated that it was important for me to get my car back the same day, and they got the job done earlier than I expected and transported me there to pick up the car. The cost was reasonable too. I called them yesterday because Costco told me my tires needed to be replaced. I did not want to buy from them again as it is a very time consuming headache getting the tires rotated there etc. I called these guys and Mike ordered the tires right then over the phone and today the car was in and out in a matter of hours. Trust is the most important factor for me when having work done on my car, cost and respectful customer service a close second. The service was fast and efficient, there was fresh, free coffee on when I got there (as promised when I made the appointment, they sure knew how to get after my heart), and they chatted me up for the entire duration of the check so that I didn't notice any time passing at all. I droped my truck off at 8am on Friday at my appointment at 8 am they never called me never did any work and locked my truck in their lay down with the rear windows open until Monday morning! No one was there all weekend to give me my truck back. When I called on Monday they said we couldn't get to it . They raised my estimate for brakes ( labor only)! From 288 to 500 bucks!
