Aside from this place being a meat market, there is a restaurant attached to it. The food was flavorful and the prices were decent. We ordered the chile rellno plate, ceviche and the pork costillos verde plate. All were amazing options! Moved to Oceanside a little over a year ago. Did not know where to go to get carne asada to bbq. Checked the reviews on Mexican meat markets and decided on Rodeos. I'm sorry to say but the meat they sold my husband (diezmillo) was horrible. It was so tough there was no way anyone could eat it. We had bought on two different days because we had more guests coming. Both purchases had to be thrown in the trash. I was totally embarrassed ( had to pull frozen hamburger patties out of freezer) My husband said they had a more expensive cut ($16.00 a lb). When I first found this market, I had been paying a ridiculous amount of money at Stater Bros for beef liver. In fact, it wasn't even fresh liver, because they never consistently carry organ meats at Stater Bros, and I really don't like having to drive all the way across town to find a place that sells what I need - I am incredibly busy and I don't have the time to search for things that apparently are "uncommon" items in most major grocery store chains. How is liver considered "uncommon," anyway? I'm sure there are probably a lot of people that dislike it, but for people like me, who have severe anemia and poor vitamin absorption levels, I literally cannot "live" without things like liver! :) Even with supplements, getting iron infused into my blood twice yearly at the oncology clinic, and intake of greens (which I recommend Sprouts for...I actually have different stores I prefer for different types of foodstuffs, and they're hands down the best for produce!), I am still iron deficient, which means I need nutritional sources to compliment and supplement the times between iron infusions. The only reason I can't give a full 5 stars to Rodeos is because they have "almost" everything I need (except household goods, which I shop for elsewhere), but not enough produce options! I do appreciate the quality of their selection of produce, and it's actually better than Staters, but still not as good as Sprouts. Their meat selection, however, is incredible! I was able to find items like beef liver and carne asada that are full of iron, and they're all fresh. No more frozen liver meat for me! I pay half the amount and get ten times better quality of meat at Rodeos. If I am hungry while I'm there, I can also grab something from the restaurant side of the store...it's the equivalent to a deli inside of a store where you can get freshly prepped food...only tastier. :) Yes, you have to have a minimum purchase of $10 to use your credit card...but go across the street to any number of the other small businesses that take credit/debit, and you'll find that they have a surcharge for all credit purchases. That's not the fault of the small business - it's an indictment of how much the credit card companies charge these small companies, which forces them to pass the charge to the consumer. Nobody seems to question that 35 cent surcharge AMPM has for their gas purchases...and that's a big chain of convenience stores/gas stations! If you think a $10 minimum purchase is unreasonable, you're free to pull out cash and use it to make a purchase that's a lower amount...and never go to Big Bear on vacation, because that tourist town doesn't accept credit cards in the majority of businesses. (I'm trying to highlight some of the complaints about the $10 minimum policy, because it's more common than you think...it's just presented a different way at this store, and they're avoiding having to charge you the surcharge many places routinely do for credit card/debit purchases). The machines, software, and billing don't pay for themselves, and this is a very small store. Having worked in a small shop before, I understand the price gouging the credit card companies practice when it comes to using their machines, and the bigger the store chain, the bigger their discount is from the companies ...which is why you don't see that in major markets. But back to Rodeos...I spend over $10 at a time just on the liver/meats, so I don't need to worry about minimum purchase amounts, or carrying cash. It's a small, local business with prices (for their meat) that are far more affordable than the inconsistently stocked big chain stores nearby. I prefer supporting local businesses anyway, so it's a double win...triple if I'm in the mood for tacos while I'm shopping! ;) read more

What a gem! Rodeo's Meat Market is a restaurant and a Mexican convenience/grocery store all wrappped up in one. It seriously carries all things Mexican you could want, from Mexican pastries and candies to pozole, tacos, and masa (corn dough) to make tamales. This location is near the Mission in Oceanside. It's in a strip mall near an animal hospital, so keep a close eye out or you'll miss it. Parking is free, and they keep reasonable hours. The staff is very very friendly. The prices are great. Mexican pastries about about 50 cents each. I got 2 tacos with guacamole for $3. The carnitas is pretty good. The adobada (al pastor) is extremely oily, so I wouldn't order it again. Ok, first recon mission to check the place out. Didn't eat here. Was looking for some marinated carne asada meat to compare to stater brothers ' version and grill them side by side. Taste competition! Well, they didn't have it! They have a full meat and seafood counter. Even marinated chicken and pork but no asada. Maybe they sold out who knows. I did review the aisles to see what they had and was impressed. They have every different kind of pepper and Mexican spice you can think of. They sell a bunch of different kinds of salsa. I picked up a salsa roja and a medium salsa. They were good but not omg I'm going to eat a bag of chips with this in one session kind. They had others and will try when I come back. The produce seemed very reasonably priced and looked fresh. Oh and If you are going to use a credit card be sure to spend over 10 bucks or they won't let you use it so beware! For the 38 minutes my wife and I waited, we were for the very least have our order correct and be given what we ordered. This is the local mexican market that had been under my nose for a while but I had not really taken notice. Finally, after getting enough grocery ads, I stopped in, knowing many mexican markets have great mexican food cafeteria-style meals... I came for breakfast. Wow. The selection here is wide, and seems almost like my other favorite market, La Perla Tapatia. Lots of things to choose from. But I was here for breakfast, so I got a machaca burrito. Every place does their machaca differently. Yes, eggs, shredded beef, peppers, onions and tomatoes... but this place added beans and *rice*. Very mission-style i supposed. It was a great burrito, with a little more star-anise flavor in the meat than what I've had before. What I really want to try is their menudo and pazole. Everybody was ordering it and I felt like a stupid gringo for not ordering it. Seems like the hot stuff to order. It is noted, and I will try it next time I'm there. OH. they don't speak any english here. So if you hate experiencing other cultures or you're racist, just go away. You know you're going to have a bad time there, and you'll probably leave a bad review for somebody not speaking english.
