    Chicken Breast platter
    Karina M.

Absolutely love this place! it's definitely one of my favorite food spots in Playa Vista. They validate parking in the structure, unlike the place next door, which only claims to validate parking, so you can be in and out quickly if you're picking up food to go. They have a Chipotle style set up but that doesn't mean the service isn't stellar. They'll let you try meats and items on the protein list and help you build out your order. I've gotten the chicken breast platter on every visit, but I've sampled the fried falafel and it's delicious. All the veggies have always been really fresh and delicious. The turmeric rice is just delicious and the meat quality is amazing. I'm personally really picky about meat, but it's always been top quality--no gross or dark meat pieces in the chicken breast and they make it fresh to order. The desserts are also incredible! I've tried the baklava cheesecake and salted caramel butterscotch cheesecake and both were absolutely amazing if you're a baklava fan! Highly recommend this spot!

I was a regular patron to the NoHo location until I moved out of the area. I absolutely loved it and always raved to all my friends about it. When I found out that the Playa location was conveniently in an area I frequent, I was excited to get it again. The only positives to the Playa locale is that the honey custard cake is amazing and that the Big Fat Pitas are still oversized goodness. The park fries ended up soggy from the condensation in the bag. Granted, the fries were still warm, but that packaging is not conducive to ANY level of fry-happiness. The chicken shawarma bowl was beyond a let down. The majority of it was dark meat, and it was so dried out. There was absolutely no seasoning or flavor to the chicken. It tasted like it had been roasted bare and sitting in a warming tray for a couple days exposed to the direct summer sun. You know that scene in Christmas Vacation where they're sitting around the dinner table and trying to chew through the turkey? Ya, it was that dry. The rice was okay. The tzatziki sauce was a bit scary, too. In the little to-go containers, the sauce had an uncanny amount of water separation happening in it. Like, there's a normal type of separation that can happen (proteins in the dairy, etc), but this wasn't right. Even after stirring it up a bit, it had a slimy goop consistency. Flavor-wise? I took a bite with the chicken and didn't bother with the rest. The big fat gyro pita was okay. All the sauce was just on the ends, but the pita bread was soft and there was a lot of meat. Overall, I was full from the meal (of what I did finish eating) but extremely disappointed in it. I won't go back. In terms of parking, I can see it being tricky when school is in session (I went on a Saturday). I parked in the 10 minute drop off zone outside on Shared Dr. Not knowing the area, I wandered through the parking structure following the signs for the food. There is a visitors entrance into the parking structure off of S Center Campus Dr (I discovered as I drove away).

The leftovers since no one liked the Baklava Cheesecake

The baklava cheesecake sounds like such a good idea, but it doesn't taste good at all and costs $70. Between six people, we couldn't even finish a single slice because it tastes like piles of cinnamon. The cheesecake part is decent but it's drowned out by all the cinnamon. The baklava part is inedible. I wish these cakes had return policies.

    Big Fat Pita with Falafel.

Finally tried this place for lunch today and WOW was I pleasantly surprised. I never thought Greek place in a Hipster office park would be so good. I had the Big Fat Pita with Falafel today. The falafels were made to order which is a must in my opinion. All of the fillings were very fresh and crisp. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely coming back.

Place in like and hidden but if you find it you'll be grub n! Food is great but wish my plates had more meat. I think the owner did come by and hook me up with more on da house. Friendly and attentive staff. Will return asap and get a side of meat with my order next time. They validate too so don't forget.

I had never heard of Angel Maid but a few weeks later I reached out to them to order a birthday cake for a good friend of ours. And it did not disappoint! I ordered the Chocolate Banana Cake because it was so delicious the first time we tried it. The best part is that although it's flavorful you don't feel heavy after having it. Just so yummy and worth the trek to Culver City.

That said, their service is still great and they are very nice. They are limited in what they will do. If you bring in a photo of a cake you want, chances are they won't be able to do it. They do not do images at all. They have a book and you can pick a cake. Their selection in store is very good, but I am so sick of most of them having a whipped cream frosting that you have to keep cold. I don't like cold cake. Their selection of butter cream is lacking. They do have a nice selection of cupcakes with butter cream frosting which is great. When you have them write on a cake you pre ordered you can tell they took very little time to do it, it is sloppy and there is nothing but what you told them to write. Most bakeries add a little flower or something to present the name. I just had a lemon curd type cake from them and I noticed the sloppy writing and the cake was so sweet I could not eat it, and of course, it was cold. I won't be back. That is sad. I will find another bakery that cares. But I still give them a 4 because I know a lot of people like sweet cakes with whipped cream frosting and their service is very good.

I got the almond croissant and overheard the man at the front explaining how they use butterfly pea flower and turmeric in many of their baked goods, which was such a unique touch. The space itself is beautiful. You can see the production room on the left where everything is being made, and on the right there's a gorgeous counter filled with sourdough loaves and pastries. I took the almond croissant home and warmed it up for a couple of minutes, and wow. The filling in the center was so unique and delicious, and the outer layers were perfectly crisp while still melting in your mouth. I'll definitely be back!

Loved being able to see the production room, and instantly knew with the amount of locals casually hanging around on a beautiful weekend day that this was a great find! Some tables outside, couches and chairs inside, cozy. Everything looked delicious! I ended up with a savory focaccia and a sourdough loaf with inclusion of garlic. Pleasantly surprised. There's no better bread than a sourdough from a starter. And the colors are beautiful! Once home I sliced up the sourdough loaf and was surprised to find garlic cloves, but the flavors worked. Paired the loaf with some apricot jam in the morning, quite delightful. I sliced up the focaccia and grilled up a tuna melt with a fresh tomato and it was oh so delicious. Looks like some online ordering may be available. Menu is online. A very eclectic variety of customers, but I can see why they all flock here. Good food, good people. You definitely don't want to miss this!
