    Dozen and a half Oysters

Waited for 10 minutes to finally get greeted by hostess. By this time we were late for our reservations. Hostess took a moment and said she can set use but we had to leave by 7:00 giving us only an hour and a half to dine. Sat and got our menus, waited for a server to take our order and finally got one to do so. He asked what we wanted without writing anything down. After the 6th item he stopped us to get his ordering pad. First 4 came out fairly quick, then it kind of slowed down. We got the raw oysters 20 minutes later. We mentioned there was a last order that had not arrived, had to mention it twice before it finally arrived. All in all, food was good. I would go back only for happy hour and just have a light bite and drink

i had not been to rodneys for a couple of years so thought to visit again. Seafood quality is still very high but the menu items are not surprising compared to other seafood places. Seems like the menu items are steady with minor changes We tried both the east coast and fanny bay oysters. they are very fresh and tasty. We also tried their happy hour halibut tacos and garlic prawns skillet. we love the halibut tacos. they were freshly fried and the selection of vegetables give a good contrast in textures. The sauce on the prawns skillet was a good addition to the prawns without overwhelming the freshness of the prawns themselves However the portion sizes are relatively small while the prices are a bit to the high end. Rodneys has been at this location for a long time which is the reason for its slightly run down decor. Service was alright and its service has a pub bistro vibe.

Great vibe, selection, and service. Enjoyed coming here for a variety of oysters, which were all fresh and delicious. Sadly I didn't feel like the prices reflected a great value, after being at Granville island and seeing a dozen oysters for 1/4 of the price. Also, while they have a lot of sauces, and a ton of fresh horseradish I was sad that the mignonette was out of a bottle and not freshly made.

We were seated, without a reservation, at a tiny table in the upstairs corner overlooking the oyster bar. The space is difficult to understand. It reminds me of a shanty on a remote beach somewhere not in Vancouver. I know it's odd to go to an oyster bar and not eat fresh shellfish but we were craving cooked salmon. Rodney's had it on the menu so we took a chance. The Manhattan clam chowder, which I was looking forward to was disappointing. I counted about four bits of clams. And my husband wasn't sure if he'd had any. That gives you an idea. It could have been saved had the broth been interesting. But it was a riff on spicy marinara sauce. Manhattan clam chowder is supposed to taste of clam broth in a mild tomato base that doesn't overwhelm the flavor of the clams. However it was also loaded with little bits of chopped bell peppers. Why? There were a few other bits of vegetables in it. I wouldn't order it again. We ordered the bread which had great sourdough flavor but it would have been tastier, imo, if it were at least, room temperature. The butter was not rock hard so that was alright. Creamy ale, which my husband ordered, lived up to its name, smooth without a bitter bite. The citrus salmon dish arrived without fanfare. It was delicious. The salmon was pan fried in a savory butter sauce that had a lovely mixture of herbs and seasonings. The fish was tender and moist. It was what I'd hoped. The spare vegetables, beet, broccoli, pieces of turnip and baby carrots were cooked al dente. The rice was fluffy and herby - nice. Overall, it was a good meal. I would have preferred to eat in a nicer atmosphere or at least without the music turned up to a numbing noise. But this is a bar first and foremost. Service was fast and efficient. We didn't need to ask for anything because it was already provided. There were no extra touches. I wouldn't return because it was too noisy but I would recommend it to anyone wanting to eat at a bar.

We arrived on a Sunday and were seated upstairs immediately. The place was decorated for Halloween. The servers were casual and attentive. The two pastas we tried were just ok but expensive for the lack of meat involved. The broccolini was excellent and so were the oysters. We also enjoyed the bread. We would return.

There are live fish tanks in it, I think it'd be a great date spot tbh. They also have happy hour deals for oysters so check out their deals. Each table has a turntable with 6 hot sauces ranging from least to most spicy but even the most spicy one is not that spicy lol. They have a variety of oysters and they were super fresh!

Foods here are in good quality. The seafoods here are so fresh and juicy! I like the oysters on the shell and seafood pasta. The mussels in the seafood pasta are juicy. The clam chowder is creamy and yummy. Cheesecake is moisture and soft inside, not too sweet. Services here is also good , my server introduced me the oysters' from location and taste. Crews here have good smiles and body shapes.

We had a reservation for 10 and the staff were awesome. We were seated upstairs and on a warm day it was uncomfortably hot. Our server was great about keeping us filled with water and bringing ice which helped. The oysters were good but pricey. I had the shrimp and crab sliders and they were excellent. Those in our group who had salad loved the dressing. I loved the tootsie rolls as you leave in lieu of mints!

My friend and I came here on a Friday evening and the place was hopping. We were just able to catch the tail end of happy hour but it was quite packed in there. I would recommend making a reservation if coming here during prime time. We got the Fried Humbolt Squid Fingers and the Halibut Bits and Bites as well as 2 oysters. Everything was tasty and it was a great place for some quick happy hour eats.

Found my new favorite seafood restaurant! We made reservations for a sat night and was able to find nearby street parking. The restaurant itself is very small but lively. We ordered: -lobster and shrimp roll -clam chowder -clams -oysters Everything was so good and fresh. The star of the night was the lobster and shrimp rolls, they were generous with the fillings and I loved thee extra crunchy bread. It created a really good crunchy texture to the dish. The oysters were also all very good and not fishy at all. We loved the variety of sauces they provided for the oysters too.

Rodneys is a no frills, delicious seafood restaurant. I especially love their selection of oysters. They also have a good happy hour. All of the oysters were amazing today! Meaty, fresh, a touch of brine west coast oysters. The halibut bites were super soft, fresh and delicious with the sauce, the sauce had a nice kick of spice. The clam chowder was decent. Definitely always a must when visiting Vancouver BC Our server Ian was delightful and gave wonderful recommendations.

Such a fun vibe, great service, and delicious food! Reservations are definitely recommended (especially on the weekend) because it's very popular. I ordered the halibut dish, and it was so flavorful and tender. This a must-go when in Vancouver.

All of that was a 5/5 In regards to the food, it was incredible! My family and I got the sablefish, halibut, an assortment of sushi, kino salad, and crème brulee. Everything was delicious! * Our favorite was the sablefish. It was packed with umami flavor. I ate that plate CLEAN! 5/5 * The kino salad was refreshing. 5/5 * The halibut has a nice flavor but later got a bit dry. 3.5/5 * Assortment of sushi: tasted really fresh! 4.5/5 * The creme brulee tasted unique with a hint of fruity-ness to it. And the chocolate mousse was really good. (The creme brulee was really shallow. It's usually served in a deeper dish so that was a surprise lol). 4.5/5 * The complimentary bread is soooo good!!! 5/5 Overall, I would Highly Recommend this restaurant! Outstanding service and food

****Service Animal Discrimination Experience****…read more I'm writing to document a disappointing and unacceptable experience with Blue Water Cafe in Vancouver. Earlier today, we called ahead to request dining accommodations with my certified service dog, trained in the United States by an Assistance Dogs International (ADI)-accredited program -- a certification that is fully recognized under British Columbia's Guide Dog and Service Dog Act. Instead of courteously discussing the request or asking the legally permitted questions, the staff member immediately rejected our reservation, accused us of not having proper documentation, and refused to review or even allow us to present our credentials. This was done over the phone, without any attempt to understand the situation or follow BC's service animal regulations. Under BC law, restaurants must accommodate certified service dogs and may only ask: * whether the dog is required because of a disability, and * what task the dog is trained to perform. Blue Water Cafe did neither. Instead, we were dismissed, spoken to rudely, and denied access based on incorrect assumptions about service dog requirements in British Columbia. For a restaurant of this reputation, this level of misinformation and lack of courtesy is unacceptable. Service dog users deserve dignity, lawful treatment, and basic respect -- not snap judgments, false accusations, or barriers to dining. I hope management addresses this immediately through staff training on BC's Guide Dog and Service Dog Act and implements proper procedures so that other guests with disabilities are not subjected to the same treatment. MARY was very rude she had zero empathy and her tone was very obnoxious as well she had zero patience and her tone was not at all pleasing, she shouldn't be in customer service if she has no skill as to how to calm a situation, she has zero empathy towards us and didn't know how to talk in a manner that people would understand your situation, she just didn't seem to care. Why would someone want to work in a customer facing job if they have no patience to deal with customers. She was beyond rude , no words for Mary indeed! She passed me on to the manager , he was a guy, Kaden or sounds like that name, he was also not very helpful or didn't even try to make the situation a better one knowing it was my birthday, they both definitely have the most horrible customer service we've experienced so far , that day we were also driving back from the Four Seasons hotel in Whistler and they were such beyond lovely when it comes to going above and beyond! They definitely have the gold standard as to how people should be treated! This place is totally a downgrade from what we've experienced at the Four Seasons Hotel. Please don't assume on anyone's service dog. Please don't discriminate your tone towards anyone having a service dog and explaining it to the person properly showing empathy, it would have been a totally different experience and outcome when it comes to my review, because mental health is real.

Parking is available close to restaurant in pockets all over. There are other options to reach restaurant - ride shares, taxi, bus and foot if my hotel is close by. Tourists to locals dining and sometimes sharing celebrations happily. Only 1 bad experience a few years back when waitress (wife of kitchen staff) failed to express to kitchen my request on cooked food preferences. Her attitude was condescending and not appropriate for her position when I brought up my concerns. Like seriously most diners do not want an overcooked piece of meat. Learned from fellow diners that this was her typical demeanor. Happy to learn the nitwit is no longer working there and ruining diners' experiences. Still tipped (but not as generously) during this bad experience because rest of team tried to make our experience enjoyable and shouldn't be penalized. Some other diners said they didn't tip.
