    Lobster & Prawn Carbonara
    Karen S.

Two words: Lobster Sundays. Great experience: ambience was polished yet not formal; our meals exceeded expectations; and service from our personable server Bee provided warmth and charm throughout the evening. I selected the lobster Louie as an appetizer and lobster Thermidor as my main. The Louie was almost a meal in itself, replete with lightly dressed greens, perfectly ripe avocado and a jammy egg serving as a bed for the lobster pieces. The Thermidor provided a saucy, buttery backdrop for large, albeit slightly overcooked chunks of lobster. It was quite delicious. And although the warm banana cake sounded unexciting on the menu it turned out to be a sleeper, a winning combination of crisp/moist textures, and not too sweet. My husband chose from a different prix fixe menu and loved his beef carapaccio and lobster-prawn carbonara. I too enjoyed the bites I snuck when he wasn't looking. The prix fixe cheesecake was on the plain side, fluffy rather than dense; just not our favorite style. My lobster craving was fully satiated by the time we left. 4.5 stars for the food, with awesome service rounding it up to a solid 5 stars.

We decided to go to Coast happy hour for their happy hour oysters. It was fairly busy but good it didnt feel crowded. We found out they also have their house wine bottles discount during happy hour as well With food, we tried the crab dip, prawns cocktail and mussels in additional to their oysters. We liked the oysters, not big but they are the flavor which i like. My favorite was the mussels, very decent sizes and the sauce was great complement to the mussels! The prawns were very good and textures were great too! However i did find the crab dip a bit heavy and mushy in texture. But overall, i had been to Coast in the past for both dinner and happy hour and the quality has been very consistent and the service has been great as well. Would definitely return

My husband and I saw a reel about your 3 course Lobster festival special on Instagram and decided to go there for our anniversary dinner. We were immediately and kindly greeted on arrival and escorted to our table. The hostess was so kind to place a lovely anniversary welcome card on our table which was so touching and set the tone for the evening. Blaine T, our server warmly introduced himself and was so helpful with our questions. He was very knowledgeable and his explanations were so informative. We loved the 3 course menus and tried one of the lobster special and coast set nenus. Our dinner from appetizers to dessert was so amazing. Kind and prompt service, amazing delicious food, and such a beautiful ambiance. Truly made our anniversary special. Our first time at Coast and definitely not our last. Thank you for a memorable dining experience.

Came here for Dine Out with my Mom and boyfriend. My Mom got the clam chowder, steak with half lobster tail, and sticky toffee pudding. Both my boyfriend and I got the shrimp salad, sablefish, and sticky toffee pudding. There was only one dessert available and additional upgrades for an extra charge. My Mom really enjoyed the chowder and both my boyfriend and I liked the fresh shrimp salad - it was a good sized portion with big pieces of shrimp. The sablefish was cooked perfectly and came with a side of rice. It had this really terrific sauce that really made the dish sing! Both my boyfriend and I really enjoyed it and my Mom said the Steak with lobster was good. Sticky toffee pudding was decent. Wish there was another choice but it was what it was. We barely saw our server, he didn't seem interested in us as barely engaged in any conversation while chatting up various tables around us. However, the additional wait staff made up for it refilling our drinks, taking away our dishes, and checking in on us. Usually, the service here is solid but maybe it was a busy night and their service pivot is on the support staff instead of the primary server assigned to us.

I came in for dinner on a Monday night and I decided to try the Lobster Night menu. For the price point, it is such a fantastic deal. I started with the crispy lobster and prawn roll. The roll was crisp and tasty, and the plum vinegar was a nice accompaniment. I chose the lobster Thermidor. Both the lobster and hollandaise were flavourful. The warm banana and coconut cake was a nice end to the meal- not too sweet and had a nice texture. The stars of the night were the staff. They worked together to create a wonderful dining experience for me!

We had a reservation made for wifeys birthday. Greeted warmly by the hostess and promptly seated. Asked if we wished for patio or outside. Wifey wanted to dine in the interior. The decor was very modern and sleek. Comfortable and lively! We were given our menus and our server introduced herself and inquired about what beverages we wished for other than water(you have your choice of what type of water you want too). After perusing awhile we were good to order and wifey wanted to try two appies. The tuna tartare, and scallop crudo. For her main was sablefish and mine was the king salmon. Our drinks arrived and were made nicely. No skimping on the proper alcohol percent here. We were also asked if we wanted both appies at once or separately. We opted for at the same time. They were both lovely, the scallops were plated beautifully and were very fresh! The acidic taste of the sauce paired well with the delicateness of the scallops. The tuna tartare was tasty and served with taro chips. The taro chips were very crisp and served as a good vessel for the tuna physically. Taste wise, not my favorite. It wasn't bad but I felt something else would have been better paired with the tuna. Wife's sablefish was delicate, moist and delicious. She thought was a bit salty but I found it OK. It was served with soba noodles which imo were over done as they were very soft as compared to the firm texture I'm used to them being served like. My salmon was cooked pretty good! Crisp top and tasty(slightly less cook time and the fish would have been perfect) but overall decent! It was served with some gnocchi and sliced zucchini/ pickles. For dessert wifey got a seasonal dish, an orange pannacotta. Which was fresh on the palette and delicious. I ordered the warm banana and coconut butter cake with creme anglaise. This was also delicious! Warm cream, beautiful texture and fruits on top. Overall a wonderful dining experience and lovely server which did an excellent job!

    $1.75 oyster during Happy Hour

My coworker and I went to Coast for happy hour after work. We didn't make a reservation but our group was pretty big (~15 people). They seated us in a room at the back. I appreciate that they gave us a space with more privacy, but the room's decor/lighting is quite different from other parts of the restaurant. The room feels like it's for a Chinese style family dinner instead of a HH with coworkers lol. They have quite a good selection of Happy Hour items, but it seems that there are no happy hour zero-proof drinks. I tried their $1.75@ oyster and mini lobster and prawn roll. The oysters were small but flavorful and fresh. Great for the price. The prawn and lobster salad on the roll was refreshing. The coleslaw on the side was alright. They made a good afterwork snack.

Same excellent service and management as Black and Blue, next door. We came at lunch time on Sunday, when it is also happy hour. What a great deal! Wines by the glass for $5, and great small plates. The sushi assortment was perfectly prepared, with a nice mixture of rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. The salmon flatbread was also notable, made with mascarpone instead of the usual feta or ricotta. Perfectly crisped crust. We'll definitely be back. Happy hour on weekdays starts early, at 2pm, and there is also a lobster dinner Sunday evenings.

I visit Coast on a quarterly basis for work lunches. It's always solid and I've never had any issues. Items range from not bad to excellent. Fish and Chips. Fresh fish with crispy and light batter. Seafood Linguine. Part of the $39 lunch menu (appee and entree) and this is probably my favorite item on that lunch special menu. Good amount of seafood and noodles are perfectly al dente. Salmon. This is part of the $39 lunch special menu and is an entree. My second favorite. Fish not overcooked with the skin that could be a bit more charred. Gnocchi were pillowy. Overall I felt it was just slightly under seasoned, but no real complaints. Burrata and tomatoes. You can add extra $8 to the $39 lunch menu for this entree. Fresh and delicious. Staff here are always wonderful and never any issues.

Me and the girls came here for happy hour on Friday at 2:30pm. We arrived about 10 minutes early but we were seated right away. We had a few questions, such as what beer is on tap, the name brands of the Prosecco and the rose on special. After those 3 questions, our waiter made a comment, 'wow, so many questions' We were thinking....isn't that what we're supposed to do? Ask the waiter questions? He also made the comment that he was going on break and so someone else would be able to help us if we had further questions. So that was a little strange and we all felt a bit put down. It changed our excited girly happy hour, to not as happy. We all ordered drinks and a selection of appies. We ordered a dozen oysters, calamari, mussels, carpaccio and truffle fries. We thought the oysters would come first, but we were told that it would take some time because there is only one shucker, which was fine. We happily snacked on the fries, mussels and carpaccio. The mussels were massive! Another good choice. The oysters came out and they were so beautiful and fresh. They were worth the wait! We got a second drink and was still waiting on the calamari. After about 40 mins, we finally asked another waiter about them as our waiter disappeared. They came out hot and fresh. Overall, everything was tasty, but I wouldn't say outstanding. I think the waiter made our time here a little less inviting and put a damper on our meal. I'd like to come back one more time to see if it was just an off day, since the oysters were worth it!

Came by coast for a happy hour and highly recommend making a reso beforehand because it was sooo busy! Tried out a few of the menu items but unfortunately nothing was too impressive Mussels - some were not as fresh as others. Thai sauce was good but wish all mussels were fresher Wagyu carpaccio - it was ok, felt like there could have been more than 5 slices for the value but was pretty tasty Calamari - fresh squid and liked the sauce that it came with Crab dip - our fav of the night, very cheesy and tasty Raspberry cake - so pretty and tasted as good as it looked

Tried Coast for lunch and went with the Thursday special, the linguine vongole. Sat outside in their sectioned-off patio space by the road, which was nice. Service was friendly and attentive. The dish itself was just okay. the linguine lacked a bit of flavor and the clams seemed slightly undercooked. Was beautifully plated! Nothing bad, just not memorable. Solid 3 out of 5. Might go back to try something else, but not in a rush.

I love coming to Coast time and time again. Their happy hour menu and pricing is amazing. The staff, decor and location are fantastic. I just really enjoy being here because you can dine like a king without breaking the bank. Exceptional value and I love how the chefs try new things. Some things may not always work but you need to respect restaurants that are willing to take chances instead of staying with tired old menus. Servers are always super friendly and they have a great selection of wine. Lots of street parking and you can enjoy the most iconic Vancouver city views after your meal. Thank you Coast and Glowbal for always delivering an amazing dining experience. We will see you again soon!

****Service Animal Discrimination Experience****…read more I'm writing to document a disappointing and unacceptable experience with Blue Water Cafe in Vancouver. Earlier today, we called ahead to request dining accommodations with my certified service dog, trained in the United States by an Assistance Dogs International (ADI)-accredited program -- a certification that is fully recognized under British Columbia's Guide Dog and Service Dog Act. Instead of courteously discussing the request or asking the legally permitted questions, the staff member immediately rejected our reservation, accused us of not having proper documentation, and refused to review or even allow us to present our credentials. This was done over the phone, without any attempt to understand the situation or follow BC's service animal regulations. Under BC law, restaurants must accommodate certified service dogs and may only ask: * whether the dog is required because of a disability, and * what task the dog is trained to perform. Blue Water Cafe did neither. Instead, we were dismissed, spoken to rudely, and denied access based on incorrect assumptions about service dog requirements in British Columbia. For a restaurant of this reputation, this level of misinformation and lack of courtesy is unacceptable. Service dog users deserve dignity, lawful treatment, and basic respect -- not snap judgments, false accusations, or barriers to dining. I hope management addresses this immediately through staff training on BC's Guide Dog and Service Dog Act and implements proper procedures so that other guests with disabilities are not subjected to the same treatment. MARY was very rude she had zero empathy and her tone was very obnoxious as well she had zero patience and her tone was not at all pleasing, she shouldn't be in customer service if she has no skill as to how to calm a situation, she has zero empathy towards us and didn't know how to talk in a manner that people would understand your situation, she just didn't seem to care. Why would someone want to work in a customer facing job if they have no patience to deal with customers. She was beyond rude , no words for Mary indeed! She passed me on to the manager , he was a guy, Kaden or sounds like that name, he was also not very helpful or didn't even try to make the situation a better one knowing it was my birthday, they both definitely have the most horrible customer service we've experienced so far , that day we were also driving back from the Four Seasons hotel in Whistler and they were such beyond lovely when it comes to going above and beyond! They definitely have the gold standard as to how people should be treated! This place is totally a downgrade from what we've experienced at the Four Seasons Hotel. Please don't assume on anyone's service dog. Please don't discriminate your tone towards anyone having a service dog and explaining it to the person properly showing empathy, it would have been a totally different experience and outcome when it comes to my review, because mental health is real.
