The food is not good, not fresh, the people are very nice but it's not authentic Mexican food . The salsa for the chips tasted like PACE sauce . I tried the tamale,Chile Colorado and the Chile relleno but there was nothing I could find positive about the plate . Lack of flavor and even the beans were sub par . Disappointed. read more

The quality of their food has really gone down. We had ordered the happy hour potato skins, which we not hot and the potatoes tasted old. Our service here was great. The hostess and the waiter were very friendly and helpful. We liked the atmosphere and it wasn't loud. It was easy to hear each other at our table of 6 despite being pretty busy. We enjoyed our food. Their salsa and guacamole were very tasty. I have a 5-7 minute rule. If after 5-7 minutes of sitting down at a restaurant, when it's not packed & you're completely ignored, it's time to go. I think that's more than reasonable. After hanging out at Rodrigo's a few more times, I feel compelled to write an updated review. Since we can walk here, we've now come back several times for dinner and happy hours and, it really can't be beat with the prices and food! In particular, we love "Taco Tuesday" where they have $1.50 tacos (chicken, pork, beef) as well as great drink specials. We also came here last week and split the ultimate fajitas, which were really good. Jesus (who they call Rodrigo) is a great bartender and we love it when he's working. read more

I love Mexican food! We were so excited when this place went into the new plaza by our house. We were hoping to find another good sitdown mexican place that we didn't have to drive to the other side of town for. We actually debated taking some family from out of town here to try it out before we had tried it, but I am SO glad we chose to take them somewhere else to try. We were sorely disappointed when we finally tried here. I had the combo with tamale and chile relleno, and the standard rice and refried beans. Nothing special, or unusual. All something that a mexican restaurant should be able to handle in their sleep. It was disgusting, and the plate was drowning in a weird red sauce and cheese. But not the normal Mexican cheese, it was the shredded Mexican Blend variety. I normally stuff myself silly with Mexican food. This stuff, I could barely eat a few bites of each before I just couldn't take it anymore. Hubby got his favorite, flautas. I have never seen flautas come with red sauce before. Normally they are nice crispy and yummy. His were soggy. Not sure how much he ate of his, but he definitely didn't finish it. Their chips were ok at the beginning, but the salsa was kinda icky. DH liked the spicy variety. I can get good chips at the store, so definitely not even close to redeeming the disgusting food. We will stick with La Cocina across town. It's a way farther drive, but worth it to not subject ourselves to this place again. read more

The first time was for dinner, food was ok not spectacular, however what truly made the experience bad was the table next to us. The guy kept dropping the F Bomb and had trucker mouth throughout my entire meal. My second time they would not honor their own coupon, yes the same one many people in the area get in their mailbox every week. The general manager had a snarky grin as he told me no, so I told him I guess you don't want my business ever again. Came here with friends today for Sunday brunch, arriving around 12:30 PM. It was fairly busy but there were no lines of people waiting to be seated. Three members of our party got the champagne brunch entrees but had to wait about 30 minutes for their champagne, which actually arrived about 30 seconds after the entrees arrived. In case you missed it, that was a 30 minute wait time between ordering and food. We had to ask for more salsa at least 3 times. No one came by to see if everything was okay, or to ask *how was the food*, but they did keep the soda refilled without asking, but not the water. Food was just so-so, nothing special to make this restaurant a stand-out. Service was poor, people didn't come by often enough for us to request more salsa or more champagne, nor did the servers notice that we may have needed or wanted this. Warning: SUPER LOUD mariachi band! SO VERY LOUD even when in another part of the restaurant! A tolerable noise level from this band would be if they were at the opposite end from where we were seated. Did I say they were SUPER LOUD??? It was not pleasant. All in all, this was our first time at this establishment, and it will be our last. We won't be going back, and we'll be sharing our experiences with our other friends as well. read more

I ordered a two combination plate with a beef enchilada and chile relleno. They brought out a cheese enchilada and a chicken taco. I found a stem of some plant in my enchilada. The taco was so dry that I took one bite and didn't eat the rest. The rice tasted like it was from one of those microwave rice pouches. Even the refried beans were dry with not fully melted cheese. Wow been here several times and the food is standard corporate Mexican food. The service has ranged from ok to just bad. Tonight when the family and I were there, 3-4 waitress thought it would be better to stand around and gossip at their back station until the manager walked by. The rallied around again 2 minutes later around a table with 2 bus boys cleaning, while they watched doing nothing but gabbing. We went 15 minutes with empty cups, the food was delivered correctly and timely however we did not have silverware for half the table. (2 out of 4) All the young 20 something waitresses could care less about their job. The hostess even stop by a few tables to try to help but the waitresses did not even move an inch. This crew tonight should have been managed much more closely. I am done with this place again for a while. read more

The pros: good location, very nice restaurant, good prices on Sunday brunch (you order what you want and it comes with free flowing champagne), good looking bar, great chips and salsa, and live mariachis! They will also make your dish with egg whites instead of whole eggs if you ask them to, which is worth a lot to me. Really liked the decor/atmosphere. The cons: the food sucks, no other way to put it. I am willing to bet fifty bucks it is actually uncle ben's or minute rice they use, no joke. The huevos rancheros were pretty good, though. Wait staff could use some serious improvement; less attitude and more service. Overall, nice place to go for drinks or a chill sunday champagne session, but don't expect much from the food. read more

Let me start by saying that the quality of my meal tonight was rivaled only by the likes of Taco Bell and Del Taco. Well... actually I take that back; because at least Del Taco makes their own beans. It's kinda sad, but the best part of my meal was the free chips and salsa that we got while scanning over the menu. I ended up deciding on the seafood enchiladas; which according to the menu contained a combination of fish and shrimp. However all I could taste was the "green sauce" that they buried it under. The rice that accompanied my sauce-enchiladas was still kinda hard and at times crunchy. I've gotten superior taste and texture from a box of 'Mexican Style' Rice-a-roni. And like I briefly mentioned earlier, I'm about 99.9% sure that the refried beans they tried to pass off on me were canned. I also found it really odd that they decided to garnish my plate with random shreds of iceberg lettuce. At the very end of my *dining experience* I was finally offered a refill of my just-barely-larger-than-a-Dixie-cup sized beverage; of which I got 4 sips out of before discovering that it was filled with 85% ice... thanks!!! I couldn't finish my meal because of how disappointing and unappetizing it was. In my opinion, you're better off driving through Taco Bell to get the same quality of food at a fraction of the price. read more

Rodrigo's is a great place to eat! It's the same ole Don Jose restaurants with a name change. Been going to Don Jose's/Rodrigo's since the 80's. The food is always good and they have great long Island ice teas! If you have room after their chips and salsa I highly recommend their combination plates, enchiladas, tacos and their fajitas are the bomb!
