We came for a factory tour, about an hour long. It was fascinating and educational to learn about the craft of chocolates from fruit to beans to the chocolate bar, and to get to chocolate taste along the way. Their work is inspiring-adding minimal ingredients to their chocolate bars so that the flavors of the cacao beans shine naturally from where they originate. After the tour, we tried the hojicha hot chocolate, the celebration cake, and the matcha cookie. For the hojicha hot chocolate, the tea flavor was subtle, but good chocolate. The celebration cake was what we expected-glad it wasn't overly sweet so that cocoa is more pronounced, but it also wasn't too rich; I felt the chocolate here in some sense lacked depth. The matcha cookie was my favorite-a cake texture matcha exterior encasing a denser brownie-like chocolate core - a delicious combo! Last thoughts to prep for the experience if you tour- 1.) Eat before you go on the tour-sampling chocolate means you do get caffeinated, and you'll likely purchase more chocolate (more caffeine!) after :) 2.) Included with the tour is a complimentary chocolate drink of choice at the end, in case you were pondering whether to buy the hot chocolate or not ;) 3.) Dandelion Chocolate products are pricey but quality. Paying the price feels like it's appreciation of their art. If you love chocolate, it's a wonderful place to visit at least once!

It's so chic and beautiful, from the gorgeous plants and large windows to the gold trim and chandelier. It is easily my absolute favorite location. It was the perfect way to wrap up an amazing day. I got the Nibby Horchata (dairy-free), which is made of almonds, hazelnuts, cinnamon, cocoa nibs, and rice, it came out within a minute, and I sat down to do some work. It was a tasty drink, at a good price point (for SF especially), though I do think some oat or cow's milk would have added some more robust creaminess. I think I'd try the iced chocolate chai next time! My friends loved their cacao smoothie and frozen mocha. The wifi is fast and reliable, the music plays softly in the background without being overwhelming (and the rest of the volume level is just low-level chatter, not too loud and not too quiet), and there's plenty of natural light. It's a wonderful spot!

I really like that you can choose exactly how many of each flavor you want in your box. I didn't realize that before, but it's a great option because you could literally get one of everything if you wanted to try them all. I chose orange, citron/lemon, caramel, earl grey, espresso, raspberry, and hazelnut. There was also a vegan raspberry option since the regular raspberry had sold out for the day, and honestly you couldn't tell the difference. It was delicious. I also tried the lemon in store, and the raspberry was my favorite. One small thing is that once they're bagged up, it can be a little hard to tell which flavor is which since they look pretty similar on the outside. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind if you're trying to remember what's what. The owner mentioned he's had the shop for 30 years, which you can feel when you're in there. He took the time to neatly tie up the box and even gave me two complimentary pieces. The shop itself is tiny and charming with a good variety of flavors. A friend of mine has been coming here since childhood, and now I understand the hype. I'll definitely be back.

Sophie at this location is a gem. Yes, she's knowledgeable, but more than that, she's genuinely kind and personable in a way that's increasingly rare. There's an intangible warmth to her that turns a quick visit into a moment worth remembering. All around fantastic experience today for my first stop at this location. One suggestion: I really wish they would offer frozen fruit smoothies here -maybe a super simplified version of their café offerings. It would do incredibly well. There's a clear market gap in the area with tons of foot traffic, and it would put something tangible in customers' hands to sip on while they walk around, keeping the unique chocolate experience that's offered at Dandelion at the forefront of the mind. The first time I visited this location, they were not yet offering tastings, (and the gal behind the counter was not very friendly nor feel approachable). Of course, if you can, visit their bigger location in the Mission, where they have food and beverages on the menu. But if you're in PacHeights area, stop in to taste and pick up some delicious chocolates.
