Rogue is still one of our favorite places to stop for a beer when passing through Astoria. They have a great variety of beers, their food is good, and the servers are always friendly and helpful. The views from the tables next to the windows along r tge water are nice, too. It's a unique spot located at the end of a pier directly on the water, so it's worth a visit for that alone.

We were out walking in Astoria and stumbled upon Pier 39 where Rogue Ales is located. This place is located in an old cannery building that contains an old-timey museum of fish cannery memorabilia. We decided to stop in for a quick drink and snack. Not wanting alcohol, we ordered their root beer on draft and pretzels. Yum! The root beer was delicious, not too sweet and not too carbonated. Much better than other root beer we've had. The pretzels with two sauces were hot and salty and the cheese sauce was savory and rich. The whole grain mustard was great too. We had excellent service as well. Our server was a friendly young man. Well stop in again!

Excellent customer service, beautiful view, and good food. We got the pub smash burger, hazelnut cranberry salad, two oyster shooters a bear flight kids, fish and chips and two kids chicken nuggets with fries. All the food came out fast fresh and was yummy. My daughter got their house, made root beer and was in a fan because of course they were used to the mug and Barq's root beer. I liked it but, I'm an adult and kids taste buds aren't nearly sophisticated as ours lol. The Smashburger has thick patties, not like a driving, thin Smashburger, but still yummy. They have great rash and barbecue sauce, which is what we got to dip the fries in. I really liked the crunch of the hazelnuts in the salad. The balsamic vinaigrette is more creamy it was really really good. I did have to try the fish and chips and kids chicken nuggets and they were all amazing. My daughter got the fish and chips with tater tots instead of french fries and their tots were overcooked but still yummy. The oyster shooters were gross because the oysters were large and the sauce was very thick.

Seriously a million dirty glasses ON THE EFFING BAR PILING UP. WHO thought of this process?!!!

Well. Dang. At Rogue Brewery in Astoria. I used to love this place. But - my anemic fish n chips at my "this is the best place for fish n chips ever!" place are Dry. Thin. Weird hard things (bones?!) too. Bummed!! Then there this colossal gathering of dirty glasses - on the bar! - next to where I'm sitting - that the poor overworked bartender is apparently supposed to also be responsible for. WTF is going on with this establishment's management?!

This place is ok! I've had Rogue beer in the past so I was excited to try this place while visiting Astoria. I love fish and chips, so when I saw it on the menu, I had to give it a try. The beers are great of course. The food is fine, I wouldn't order the fish and chips again. The batter was soft and gummy, not really appetizing. The fries were somehow perfectly crisp, so I know they know how to make crispy fried foods... the fried fish just was not crispy. Worth checking out at least once for a beer, for anyone visiting from out of town. It's in an old cannery building.

Rogue Public House is one of my go to spots in Astoria, along with the Bowpicker and South Bay Wild Fish house. I get the Fish and Chips every time I go, so I will not be reviewing any other food. Rogue in Astoria is on an old cannery pier (Pier 39) on the Columbia River. When the windows are open, you can hear nearby sea lions barking. You can also see container ships anchored in the river, and the Astoria-Megler bridge. The atmosphere is laid back with a slightly hoppy aroma befitting a brew pub. Our waitress was in training, and was struggling with the order a bit, but she was friendly and attentive. Everybody has to start somewhere. I can offer only encouragement, and a decent tip. The fish and chips were just fine. I got the salmon. The batter, while not crispy everywhere had a good flavor. The fish was perfectly done. I would rate it 7 out of 10 as a whole. The fries were good, but could have used more salt. The portion size was also good at 3 pieces and a generous helping of fries. I will continue to stop here when I am in the area.

Food was decent, wait staff was decent. Nothing amazing, nothing terrible. Interesting location with difficult parking options. Water view was nice.

    Don't miss it!!!

Once again on point. Stepped up big time when their taps went down on Hood to Coast weekend. Offered cocktails from the spirits they were selling as well as any cold beers from the cooler. FYI....Rogue Astoria....just run nitro through one tap and CO2 through the others like everyone else does. The chowder was amazing again as well as the pretzels with beer cheese. Brought some Dreamland back but that didn't last long.

First and last time here even though I really enjoyed the location and the view of the ocean. I love the open windows as the breeze and the smell of the ocean blew into our faces. Not sure if it was a cultural or geographic difference but the servers were rude and cut me off while I was asking a question. I dropped a menu onto the floor due to the wind, and the server walking passed told me to pick it up because they were going to trip on it. Obviously I was in the motion to pick up the menu, but I felt like their tone was disrespectful and outrageously rude. Soy curl tacos were too salty, but the citrus juice from the lime and lemon really reduced the saltiness.

Halibut fish and chips with tarter sauce mixed with Tabasco Sriracha sauce

This unpretentious place offers great beers on tap, excellent river views, and tasty fish and chips. We split the halibut fish & chips and clam chowder. Although the chowder lacked flavor, the clams were fresh and not rubbery. A little tweaks and it could be delish! The fish was delicious! Love the herby batter and skin on potato fries. The tartar sauce needed a little extra kick for me and mixing it with the tableside Tabasco Sriracha sauce was a game changer! Try it!

I recently did a…read morechowder crawl through Astoria, trying chowder at 10 different restaurants, and Portway came out on top for every person in our group. It's a classic clam chowder, but incredibly flavorful, rich, and creamy. It has big chunks of clam, bacon, and some potato, but unlike many chowders, the clam-to-filler ratio is definitely heavy on the clam. It is simply outstanding. The staff are every bit as impressive as the food. I drove an hour back tonight specifically for their chowder and planned to try the fish and chips as well, only to discover that the power was out and wasn't expected to return until much later. I was obviously disappointed and mentioned how far I had driven. The staff were so kind that they gave me a bowl of chowder to take home and heat up later--on the house! That level of kindness and customer service is rare. We need more restaurants like Portway Tavern. Amazing chowder, wonderful people, and a place I will happily keep coming back to! Grilled pineapple, hand made burger, tasty. The waffle fries were great. The only negative is that the burger could have been seasoned more. I had the Tri-tip Sandwich with some onion rings. Really good, but again, a little seasoning would have augmented the sandwich. Service was good, but not as good as the food. Seemed a little understaffed for 5:30 PM. We'll definitely be back!

While I understand being the only person there to serve and what not, a prompt warning that the only flavor of pie was most definitely over a week old, soggy as could be, and full of undercooked, under mixed raw flour would have been human decency. To say this is the last time I will stop here is an understatement. Not to mention they charged me $16.75 for two slices on this paper plate and wrap. For a moment, I thought I had somehow took a wrong turn and had driven into rural Ireland. I was curious. I knew I had to check it out on our return drive home later in the day. Unfortunately, the hours posted to Yelp and Google were incorrect; either that, or the proprietors had closed early that Sunday night. Either way, they were gracious enough to let us poke about a bit before leaving, and I have to say, we will likely be making a special trip to revisit this place in the near future. The interior is warm, dimly lit, and filled with the heartwarming aroma of wood smoke from the black iron furnace, and Irish stew simmering in the kitchen. Lots of love and personal touches have been included in the interior decor: vintage artwork, framed and loose pictures, posters and newspaper clippings, antiques, tchotchkies, your standard neon bar signs, and hard wood furniture. It looks and feels lived in: a living history museum of the region, which apparently has more history than one would ascertain from driving through this tiny hamlet. Looking forward to knocking back a few drinks and enjoying a hearty meal here someday soon.

I liked the tucked away seating and at the time we were there there wasn't anyone else having a beer so the peace and quiet was appreciated. The beer that we had was a lager and it was okay. It was apparently brewed out of Bend, Oregon but I am not sure if another brewery does this for them or not. The flavor highlights with this lager is a breadiness and somewhat of a clean aftertaste. It was fair but it kind of gave me the impression of a big corporate beer as I didn't see much personality to it in the flavor profile.
