Robert Lopez, one of the best stylists from Chris McMillan's salon shifted here so I followed. He's amazing and coincidentally styles many of my favorite stars from Jameela Jamil to Jeremy Strong (Kendall from Succession). He's very attentive and you don't get the factory feel, he's also taught me ways to properly style my hair and is as well trained and too notch as they come. Casey is rude and the manager is irrational and even more rude. I came here twice. The second time they charged me more than the first time since the first time Casey worked on my hair for 8 hours. I asked front desk why I was getting charged more for a color correction and the full high light. Casey Came in and point out at my ring my bag and shoes and told me not to embarrass myself asking for discount! They obviously throw some numbers based on your looks. They canceled my third appointment as I walked in next time and the manager tells me they don't want further disappointment. Ya maybe if you train your staff right you won't get disappointed. This is the only place I will go in the COUNTRY for my color- Seriously. I am NOT a girlie girl - I wear little to NO make up and don't like to fuss - I find a good pair of jeans or cutoffs and love my t-shirt collection- Good shoes and purses that stand the test of time are important. BUT Hair is NOT something I fool around with... Amanda George has been doing my hair for twelve years. I began flying in to see Amanda to get my hair done because I was living in a remote mountain town that had little to offer me in regard to good colorists. I asked a good friend to refer me to someone and she referred me to her own colorist- thus began my 12-year relationship with this amazing woman. I moved to Tennessee a few years ago and considered other colorists but knew that going elsewhere was a risk that I couldn't consider. So 4-5 times a year I still visit Beverly Hills...Some people say I'm crazy- most people get it- especially after they see my hair.. She is the ONLY person who knows how to truly do natural looking 'California Blonde' highlights. I actually have people stop me in airports, grocery stores, elevators and on the streets of cities I travel to asking me who colors my hair. She is THAT amazing! To top it off...Amanda has NO ego, she is no nonsense, she is punctual, she is personable and she is caring, communicative and receptive to my requests. This is also a salon that doesn't seem to have a ton of turn over- Other stylists and colorists seem to be happy working here. I think that Amanda has had 4-5 different assistants in the 12 years I've been there- I think that's a true testament to herself and her salon - in such a transient industry, so many of the people that make Roil - the Salon it is -are so very loyal to the salon and it's owner. Roil Salon is the best salon I have been to in Los Angeles. From the minute you walk in the salon, you feel you are so welcomed. The customer service is excellent. Everyone is so friendly. The salon is very unique, clean and parking is no problem. I followed Carlos from the previous shop he worked at. He is the best stylist. I have been cutting my hair with Carlos for the last two years. He is so creative and artistic. Every time I look forward to my haircut by Carlos. He is so kind and down to earth. Thank you Carlos for doing your best to carefully cut my fried hair caused by a colorist from another shop. Roil Salon has great stylists and colorists. I just had my color done by Brittany. I was so impressed by Brittany. She is amazing, very detailed and has great personality. She took the utmost care in coloring my hair as it was damaged previously. I love ROIL. I have been going to see Amanda for years and she has turned my hair from lifeless to vibrant. The front desk are lovely. They will feed the meter if you need them to so you don't have to leave the salon while the color is setting. Obviously this is a salon so you can come here to get hair services. The prices are not bad and I wouldn't say too expensive for whatever service you're getting. The talent here is mediocre and the owner along with many of the stylists suffer from narcissism and they are delusional and loony to be around thinking that they're creme de la creme when in actuality they're just making an honest living and should be humble and charitable to their community. On the contrary they are vindictive and condescending all the while being completely full of themselves while providing standard services, and wouldn't be out of their way to be outright ridiculous. Save yourself the run around and book at another quality salon and avoid these people who are professional at calling themselves professional. I know first hand that their artistry is mediocre and to be honest possibly sub standard beauty services, otherwise I would voice differently. read more

This place is great, extremely clean with super nice staff! I get my color done by Katrina and she is the absolute best! I have lots of gray hair for someone my age and my strawberry blonde color is a hard one to do correctly but Katrina gets it right every single time! Bottom line: I won't go back to Roil because I'm disappointed by both the outcome of my hair and by some of the staff there. Here's why: 1) I saw Stephen Garrison for color. I wanted a natural, subtle refresh on my color. Based on the women in his chair and his Instagram (which unfortunately I didn't look at before my appointment), he knows how to do one look - bleached blonde at the bottom and framing the face, blended but not catered to each face. My brunette hair is way too blonde right now, especially on the ends and around my face. I overheard another one of his clients say the same thing to him: too blonde around the face. 2) I was there for way too long and they don't respect your time. I arrived at 10:15, told them I had to leave by 3 latest to relieve my babysitter and didn't leave until 4. I knew appointments there could be long and I thought 5 hours would surely suffice. 3) Because Stephen didn't spend enough time listening to what I wanted for my color, they ended up putting approximately 4 rounds of toner on my head to tone down the blonde. This can't be the best technique. 4) Stephen has 3 assistants. I was passed between all 4 people. Which doesn't create a cohesive process or look. For instance, I don't think my hair was rinsed properly because my hair smells of chemicals the day after and because I found a wad toner in my ear after I left. 5) One of his assistants (one with round glasses, forget her name) wouldn't stop gossiping and complaining about her coworkers which is rude and unprofessional. She was also more concerned about what to order for lunch than doing her job. And she spent a lot of time on her phone. Note his two other assistants were nice and professional: Drew and Tori. 6) It's expensive. The saying "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply here. I'm going back to see Rich at Meche - he's less expensive and creates a prettier color in less time with no drama. read more

I have been coming to this salon, now Roil salon for many years. I have seen some changes but all have been good ones in my opinion. My colorist and extension goddess is Kacey Welch. She does amazing things for me. All of my family goes to Kacey and we always have beautiful results. Kacey's assistants are also talented and very nice. Judy is the best hair colorist who has been doing my hair for years. She specializes in balayage technique, and is very detail oriented. She has done everything from lightening me till I am blonde to getting me to that perfect ash brown. On top of that she is a nice down to earth person. Customer service experience was extremely sub-standard compared to all fine salons I've frequented throughout the world. My experience led me to feel extremely uncomfortable. The actual color service I received from my stylist is not being reviewed here; my 1 star rating is for the service: 1) As a courtesy call that I made prior to my appointment informing them that i was running behind; the receptionist told me for the first time that If I "was more than five minutes late that I would be charged half of my appointment and my appointment would be rescheduled" 2)The front desk did not give advance notice when I booked as to required additional services and was rude in delivering information ; 3) my colorist and her staff did not communicate with one another while I was passed around the salon with no explanation as to when I would be seen and articulated that I was "not a priority" 4) I was not offered refills of coffee or water during my three hour ordeal; 5) no effort was made to address my needs or comfort - will not be returning. read more
