I recently visited Roil Salon to get my hair styled for a friend's white elephant party, and the results were absolutely stunning! I walked in with very flat, dry hair, but the stylist worked magic. They used Kacey Welch's All In Wonder Leave-In Conditioner & Heat Protectant with baobab to nourish my dry hair before styling. They curled my hair beautifully to add much-needed volume, and then crafted a truly elegant updo. The entire process was incredibly relaxing; the hairstylist was so gentle with my hair--it was a wonderful, stress-free experience. While I was there, I also had the chance to chat with some clients who had just gotten the famous Kacey Welch extensions. They showed me their "before" photos, and I was genuinely fascinated by the quality color blend and the incredible volume the extensions provided. I came in asking for a soft brunette refresh nothing drastic, but my hair was left worst then I arrived, leaving it brittle, dry, and uneven, with muddy orange and yellow blotches throughout. I was devastated when I saw the damage. I had even come in a second time after calling the salon expressing my disappointment, but it was bleached and damaged even more than my initial visit. They later offered for me to come back a third time, but after already sitting through two failed corrections, and not even knowing whether it was the stylist or his assistant actually mixing my color because they all are working on multiple clients at one time, I no longer felt comfortable trusting the process. When I reached out again to request a refund, so I can use the money towards reparative and corrective treatments elsewhere, the front desk manager tried to blame the lighting in my photos instead of taking accountability, and then stopped responding altogether. I've since had to begin an expensive and time-consuming repair process elsewhere and cut several inches off my hair. I'm sharing this review with photos so other clients can make an informed decision. Mistakes happen, but blaming the lighting instead of acknowledging clear damage, and then ignoring follow-ups, was incredibly disappointing. read more

AJ did an amazing job fixing a horrific mess caused by Randi at Sassoon academy. When I walked in, he walked me through the process that it was going to take to get my hair back to my hair goal. AJ painstakingly weaved through a damaged "full highlight" (thanks Randi) to find virgin roots to bleach. If he had bleached my prior hl hair again, those pieces would have broken off. AJ was so kind to do all of this without increasing his initial price upon seeing all the work needed to fix my hair. This included the process above, adding multi color toners both at the root and the ends to blend my color, preventive treatments(similar to olaplex), and a complete blow dry and style as well. He explained how many appointments it would take to get to my hair goals and was extremely knowledgeable on what my hair needs to flourish. DISGUSTED BY THEIR DISCRIMINATION So here it is . Let me just say no title , location or amount of money can bring u class or make u a decent human being . I happened to walk around the neighborhood this afternoon and saw their door open , you would figure they are one . So I decided to pop in . I headed to the counter to look at some of their fine jeweler which I'm a sucker for . There a see a man staying a woman's hair making direct eye contact with me as I walk in and shortly after a woman with blonde hair walks by , see me and continues to walk by . I continued on minding my business looking at the bracelets respectfully giving them a couple of minutes to realize what just happened and maybe they would acknowledge me some way / how . NOPE ! Until I asked " excuse me I would like to know how much these bracelets are for purchase " the same man from earlier replies - I'm not sure and as a matter of fact we are closed ! Oh really is that so ? Well ur door was open and on YELP it says there 39mins left to closing - which I'll post up ! Maybe it was sweats pants that gave it away , from working all day 12 hours as an RN on feet or not the fancy bag in hand . My hair is beautiful and I will never go to another salon! Book with Amanda (Owner) for your blonde highlights, she understands color placement above anyone who has ever worked on my hair. She breaks up the services by suggesting her quick "Face Frame" highlights between full and half head appointments which saves tons of time and money, and is less damaging to my long hair. My hair looks naturally blonde as it was in my youthful years, and grows out perfectly between salon visits. Amanda has the sweetest, hard-working assistant, Cheyenne who will also take great care of you. Carlos recently gave me the best long layered haircut I've ever had, my hair is healthy and very easy to style. She always gives me the perfect California beach blonde highlights and I get so many compliments about my color out in the world. She has attention to detail and takes her time. Been going to Stephen Garrison for years now . Followed him from Ramirez Tran . Been to every colorist from Ny - La and will never stray from Stephen . Haven't done my color in months and people compliment saying , did you just do your color ?? He does a process called color melting so your growth is gradual . I have been a client of Amanda's for more than 15 years. I've followed her from one salon to another and couldn't be happier. Brittany, Amanda's former assistant, has also been doing my color, and is amazing. I finally got my hair colored, base and highlights, after doing it myself for 4 months. I follow Amanda on Instagram and felt confident that in opening the salon, she would follow all protocols to make her clients feel safe. She's done an excellent job. All the staff wear masks and gloves, clients are required to wear masks, (of course!) waiting outside only, no eating inside the salon, appropriate spacing between chairs, and in the wash basin area. ROIL is by far my favorite salon in Los Angeles. I've had had my hair cut and colored by a number of other salons both in the area and across town over the years, and this place takes the cake, hands down. I felt that both my stylist and colorist really listened to what I wanted (I've been "hairsplained" into getting a look I didn't really want a number of times at other salons) and were super communicative and attentive to my needs. The rest of the staff, (especially the receptionists!) are super sweet and consistently accommodating. The salon itself is beautiful and they bring you whatever you'd like to drink, feed your meter for you, etc. I will definitely be a regular for many years to come. read more

I had the pleasure of speaking to the receptionist named Greg and he was such a pleasure to speak to I didn't want to get off the phone!
