My mom and I have been coming to Maxime salon for years to see Chris and we absolutely LOVE him. This review is solely based on their customer service from a phone call my sister made to the salon today and for how she was treated. My sister has been wanting to do balayage to her hair for some time, and we send everyone there so I recommended she call the salon since we love Chris. She asked for a price and when she said thanks that's not in my budget, the rude receptionist responded "I think you should go to your moms place". LOL WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?? Is that a dis??? Soichiro is the best! Truly a hair magician! His attention to detail and cutting skills are the best I have experienced. His blow drying and styling skills are superb. I have known Maxime, Stephanie and Daniele for over 25 years...following them from another Beverly Hills salon as Maxime persued his dream of owning his own salon. Everything about Salon by Maxime is class, elegance and pampering. I would never consider going anywhere else! Today was my first day back since COVID19 hit. Every protocol was followed to perfection. Everyone had masks on, there was plenty of hand sanitizer available, my temperature was taken before I could enter the salon, every station was cleaned thoroughly including combs, scissors, etc. in between clients. Social distancing was strictly observed. The atmosphere felt very safe and it was pure joy to be back in the salon and see everyone while getting a haircut with Steph that has made me feel human again! Begona is wonderful. She is the BEST colorist I have ever been to. And I have been to many. She's worth it - go to Begona for color. The salon is nice and clean. Staff are pleasant. Minus 1 star for Viviana - I believe was her name. She washes your hair - rather scalds your head and digs her claws in. I did let the front desk know and they shrugged so not good especially when you spend that kind of money. Will still go back to get my color done and hope to get someone other that the beast with the claws to wash my hair. read more

I have been a client of Salon Maxime since 2004...when they first opened and haven't gone anywhere else since. The vibe is very warm, comfortable and friendly. It is not at all pretentious. Many of the staff and stylists have been here since the beginning which says a lot! I get stopped all the time by strangers asking who does my hair and I proudly say Maxime cuts my hair and Sigrid does my color. Maxime gives an amazing haircut that lasts a very long time. Sometimes I will go 5 months and forget to make an appointment because it always looks great. He is the best hair stylist ! Sigrid is a true artist in every sense of the word. My color is always gorgeous and natural. She takes her time to paint my highlights. I'm always amazed at how talented she is with the balayage process. I also love Serina! They took good care of me in this place. The professional Douglas Vietro is the best in the world, he do miracles, believe me!

I came here a few times before Mark left, and I always left happy. The prices are highly competitive for this part of town (I actually only paid $150 for cut and highlights, which at the time, was absolutely unheard of). The layout is very 'posh' and it definitely has that Beverly Hills hard edge you might be accustomed to -- but it's decidedly more low key than nearby Lukaro which I found to be preferable. There were a few things that sort of caught my attention in a bad way, though -- such as the fact that some stylists don't seem to understand that screaming at their assistants and making a huge scene generally tends to make the rest of the salon look bad. And this wasn't an isolated incident; a few stylists (generally female) seemed particularly irritable the few times I came here, putting on cobalt smiles for customers only to turn to their assistants with bloody murder of the 10th degree. That was a little unnerving to me, as a customer. The receptionist also had one hell of a Beverly Hills attitude, but hey, maybe that's what people come here for? ;) One thing I've never forgotten about Maxime, though, is the LIGHTING! I don't recall what kind of lighting they're using at their stations but I'd love to put it in every room of my house, because it's the most flattering kind of light I've ever encountered. Everyone in the mirror looked 5 years younger and flawless. SOMEBODY tell me what kind of lights those are, LoL! read more

This is too fun of a story to cut short. I have my hair straightened by the incomparable Rima, see my review for the Soho Salon. Rima also does hair straightening at Salon by Maxime in Beverly Hills a few days a week. Side note: She also does the Keratin treatment for those lucky gals that don't have as much crazy curl as I do and just want to get rid of the frizz. I've been going to Rima for over a decade. But in the last few years Rima's hair has been looking so GORGEOUS. I fall all over her every time I see her. We both have really long hair, but her falls in this amazing way with this amazing body and curl. I call it her modern Charlie's Angels look. She said Maxime cuts her hair and I really needed to go see him. I thought there is no way my hair could look like her hair, especially since I straighten mine and it's pretty stick straight at the ends. Well, I finally decided to do it. Living in HB, I practically had to take the day off for this. I was excited and anxious at the same time. When I finally made it to his chair (I should say one of his many chairs as he works on several clients at the same time ) I was expecting the usual pull, snip, pull, snip where I could interject my concerns as we went along. When Maxime started cutting I was jolted from the expectation of the predictable into this fantastical world of Edward Scissorhands. He was like a mad artist, the kind that throws paint at the canvas. There was no room for client interjection. All I could do was sit there and chant in my head "my hair will grow". When it was all over and I assessed all the hair on the floor, the chant went from lower case to upper case "MY HAIR WILL GROW!". Then the pressure was really amped up as I sat there for a while and my hair began to air dry. OH NO! Air dried hair fills me with anxiety! The assistants finally came and I got a blow dry and then a hot curling iron. Then 'he' came back. And again with the mad scientist routine. I could barely keep up with what he did. Then he was done. I looked in the mirror and my eyes welled up. Who is that woman with the elegant, feminine and quite frankly gorgeous hair? It was me looking like 100% class. My hair looks just as long as before (middle of my back) but layered in a way to give body and wave that I thought was not possible since I straighten my hair. Why didn't I listen to Rima sooner? "GO SEE MAXIME" is my new chant. If you are money tight or really young you may want to wait until you can afford it, he is not cheap. If you are in a hurry, wait for a day that you have time. It's not a fast experience, about 2 hours from when I walked in until when I walked out. If you want to make a positive change to your entire look and style then make that appoint with Maxime. The time and money were a small price to pay for looking and more importantly feeling like a star. read more

Jade at The Salon by Maxime in Beverly Hills is simply incredible. She changed my entire look - matching my hair to my vibrant personality - and has increased my confidence exponentially over the past 3 years I have been seeing her. I first found Jade after what has become known as the "bang incident" - when another stylist out in Washington D.C. massacred my side-part bangs and I was forced to bobby pin them back for 5 months during the grow out. Even my good friend Bessy was honest enough to tell me "This is bad." After 6 months without a haircut, I was visiting my parents in Los Angeles and called the salon on recommendation from a neighbor. It was fate that Jade had an opening. She took her time, weaving close to 100 foil highlights with three different colors. The color was impeccable and blends beautifully and naturally. She also was immaculate with the cut, going back through my hair after the blow dry to make sure the bangs and layers blended perfectly. I have now been going to Jade for 3 years , actually flying out to Los Angeles from Washington D.C. every three months to "see my family" (a.k.a get my hair done by Jade. :P) I get compliments on my highlights all the time from people on the street and after recently being selected for a "50 Most Beautiful" list, I was contacted by Washingtonian Magazine for information on who does my hair. They wanted to feature Jade in their annual "hair issue." Unfortunately, she is out in LA, so they weren't able to! (See attached pics) If you're looking for an incredible stylist and colorist - and cool friend - you need to go see Jade. Not only is she witty, beautiful, intelligent, charismatic and sexy - she is by far the most talented colorist I've ever come across. You'll be coming back again and again! Ever since I got my highlights done with Flavia, I don't let anyone else touch my hair! She uses "high lifting color" (no bleach) and has literally saved my hair. I recently received an unfortunate helmet-head haircut. Extremely unfortunate. Roundish face + helmet hair = very sad face in the mirror each and every morning. A friend suggest I visit Maxime to undo my bad hairdo and she was absolutely right. I have the most fabulous hair ever and could not be happier. The moment I sat in the chair he said 'You have great hair and too much of it. We will fix." He had an array of scissors, razors, blow dryers -- he cut my hair wet, half dry, and completely dry -- tossing my hair in the air like he was making a Caesar salad. It was strange but totally worth watching as no one has ever cut my hair like that before. Honestly I did have reservations before heading over as the friend who recommended him told me Maxime does Candy Spelling's hair -- which made me think, hmmm. NO thank you. However, she (recommending friend) has big hair like mine and yet hers always looks wonderful so it wasn't hard to convince me that my skepticism was unfounded. I recommend Maxime highly and based on what I saw of the the work other stylists were doing -- you probably wouldn't be unhappy with anyone working at his salon. read more
