    Cheese Pizza Slice
    Sam T.

I'm by no means a New York pizza expert, but I did find myself grabbing cheap slices everywhere I went on a trip earlier this year to the city, and I've been craving that ever since. I don't think the pizza here quite compares, but I also don't think it's fair to, so I'll say that this was a solid (and well-priced!) pizza option right across from the courthouse. I went during the lunch rush and saw the whole staff hustling, but they were still quite friendly. I think most pizza places can be judged by their cheese pizza, so I went with the 2-slice + drink lunch special for $8.99. Was it mind blowing? Nah, but it wasn't floppy or greasy. The crust was great. The sauce was a bit tangier than I'm used to, but that's personal preference. And there was something about the cheese itself that wasn't my favorite, but I can't figure out why and again -- personal preference. The shared space that they're in, I will say, is HOT. Understandable considering the ovens are going (and it's Florida in August and it's not a fancy building -- it's the base level of a parking garage), but I wanted to note that for heat-sensitive folks. So, maybe I wouldn't drive out of my way to come here all the time, but it's definitely a spot on my radar for a reasonable lunch in the area.

It's not fancy but the service is friendly and the pizza is great. Lunch special I got was $8.99 for 2 slices and a soda (cans). I opted for pepperoni bacon and prosciutto. They do not skimp on the toppings. Both slices were a good size and really tasty. Crispy but not crunchy crust. For parking: Park in the garage in the same building and bring your ticket. They'll give you a sticker that gives you the first 30 minutes for free.

How you gonna be a whole pizza place and can't even cook a pizza. Crust is still raw, cheese ain't even melted, chicken dry as sand and a salad that consist of nothing but yellow and brown wilted lettuce with scraps of random vegetables tossed in

One of my old coworkers, who's also from NYC, recommended Rojas Pizza to me, saying it's the closest you'll get to authentic NYC pizza in Jacksonville. Naturally, I was excited to give it a try! I went during my lunch break and ordered two plain slices, hoping for that familiar NY-style taste. The pizza was definitely good, and it did remind me of the classic NYC slice, though it's hard to fully compare it to the real thing (if you know, you know). That said, it was still delicious, and I'll definitely be going back for more. I visited around 3pm on a Monday, and it wasn't busy, so the service was quick and easy. The only downside is their limited hours--they're only open the same hours as the courthouse across the street, which makes it a bit tricky to visit if you don't plan ahead. Still, for anyone craving a solid NY-style slice in Jacksonville, Rojas Pizza is worth checking out!

It's a very unassuming place from the outside. Inside the decor is very minimal and a couple of booths and about 13-14 tables with 2 chairs each. Had to be at the courthouse so tried this place since the proximity was so close. They had plenty of specials so I got the 2 slices of any pizza and a drink for total about $10. I asked for a pepperoni with mushroom and a chicken Alfredo. They cut your slices then heat them in their ovens which gave a little char to the very thin crust. You walk down pay give your name and they call you when it's ready. The service was very quick and efficient to get through the guests very quickly. It was only a 5-7 minute wait. The chicken Alfredo pizza was so creamy and the cheese pull was great. It could have used one more ingredient maybe spinach or something along those lines but even as is I would definitely get it again. The pepperoni and mushroom was great as well. The pepperoni had a slight crisp and was spiced well. I would and WILL definitely come back again.

Downtown Pizza Joint right across from the court house. It's the only eatery as soon as you walk out. Their service is NY-style large slices with 2 slice & soda or 1 slice, salad, & soda deals $8.99. I've been here for about an hour and have seen almost 50 people come in out. The pizza is delicious and the crust is nice and crispy. I had to place a to-go order for a large pie. It was only $16.99. This is not fine dining, but you can find a seat. There are tables and chairs. Mixed group of people from the Homely looking to upper class lawyers.

Real New York style pizza located in the downtown Jacksonville area across from the courthouse. The staff is friendly and they even take Apple Pay. You have the option for dine in and carry out. I really enjoyed the freshness of the ingredients and the welcoming environment.

The view as you exit Rojas Pizza. Yes, it's a busy lunch location, but grab whole pies for dinner later in the day

I love this place. I've gone here for over a year now and always think I've given them a review on Yelp. Sadly, I start only to stop and devour more pizza instead. Now days after my last visit, I will do what should have been done around 360 days ago. That is, say if you miss New York slices or Pies or Calzone, stop in Rojas Pizza right across from the Jacksonville Court House. They are really a lunch pizza place because of their location. I work close to this area but leave work before they close at 5pml and bring home a few days' worth of pizza for my 3 sons, wife and I. I call them about 45 minutes before leaving work to make sure there is enough oven space for my order. My kids and everyone at work that has tried it loves the large Meat Lovers Stuffed Pizza. Most people are filled up after 1 or 2 slices of this culinary delight. Delicious and filling! If you like the works, the Supreme Pizza is a great choice, too. X- large pizza to go will impress any group of people you bring it to. Grandma's pizza, the Margarita, White Pizza, and just a plain cheese pizza are great for the no topping people. The wings are delicious, and the Calzones are as well. The employees are extremely nice and will help you carry the large order to your vehicle without being asked. They are located across the street from the Jacksonville Court House, and if you are in that area, grab a slice or two. Even better, grab a few X- large Pies and supply a party with great pizza! It's one of the best pizza places in North East Florida!

When I'm downtown I'd normally stop here to get pizza slices or a stromboli. Never had a issue food is always good. Welp I stopped in recently to get my best friend and I something quick to eat, I grabbed us 2 slices of pizza and a stromboli to share. I ate the pizza the same day which was averagely good. I saved the stromboli for the next day. After all day of just thinking and wanting this strombol, I ordered a meatlovers stromboli and added onions, peppers and spinach. Welp to my surprise after I hear it up and cut into it...WHERE IS THE MEAT??!!!! I had like a 5 slices of pepperoni and over sized onions chunks. I was so disappointed and hungry. I literally threw it away cuz I was pissed TF off.

    Spinach&mushroom, prosciutto

Any 2 slices and a drink for $8.99! What a steal in this market. I had the prosciutto slice and the spinach and mushroom. Great crust, ample toppings and hot! The spinach and mushroom crust could have been a bit crispier, but that was my only critique. They are slinging out an impressive amount of pizza for the lunch crowd and doing it well. I'll be back!

On a lunch break headed to a food truck and I stumbled on a parking space across from the courthouse. Looked over and saw there was a pizza joint. I popped in, saw there was a lunch special with 1 slice of cheese pizza, 5 wings, and a soda for $9.99. can't beat that. I just visited New York last month specifically Brooklyn so a place advertising "New York" style pizza has to be on point. The slice I had was ok. The sauce I'm not a fan of. It was fresh and hot though. It's nice that a soda comes with the special. The surprisingly good thing were the wings. It was lunch rush so they were super busy but the employees are moving non-stop. I believe the wings was the reason my order took a little longer than others. I believe the wings were baked. I ordered garlic Parm. I received 2 containers of sauce/dip. One was a blue cheese possibly with ranch mix- really good. The garlic Parm sauce to put or dip the wings in-not so good. Most Parm wings are covered in Parm cheese but this sauce was watery, then and just didn't taste good. I would definitely go back if I'm on lunch downtown and want some wings. There were table and chairs nothing fancy. Not sure why there were sheets hung on one side of the dinning area, they could be remolding.

This is super conveniently located for me when I'm at work. They have great lunch specials and large slices of freshly made pizza. I wish they were open passed 5 so I could get a whole pizza to go! Lol Either way. This place is a must try!

I am normally not a person who seeks out pizza in general because I find pizza is always missing something. For those of you who subscribe to the salt, fat, acid and heat thing (plus spicey for me), this is the pizza for you! In addition the pizza sauce was bright with a fresh tomato taste, not a sweet, heavy dark red spaghetti type sauce drowning in italian seasoning. Top notch! I can say I will come back for this one. This was my first time here and I asked questions about the signature wings. They gave me a free sample of wings. Same thing, god balance of fat, acid and salt was good. If crispy breaded and fried is what your wanting/expecting then these wing wont be a good match, but the flavor is spectacular. The lemon in the sauce is great. The ambiance is a little industrial, more designed for hanging out. That is a choice not a defect though. Just saying it is not a quiet dinner for two kind of place. All in all, a quality find and I highly recommend.

The ham was below average, with one hard bit. My wife didn't like that there was so little pineapple in it. Our Napoleon pastry was pretty good, and I might get it again ($5 for a small one). We both preferred it to the brownie ($4). I don't particularly like brownies, but this one looked particularly appetizing, and the order-taker said it was one of her favorites, so we tried it. That was a mistake. Perhaps I should have tried the mini cream puffs, which are a favorite of mine (3 for $5), instead. Among other things I usually like, they had carrot cake for $7 and a cup of cheesecake for $9 (which seems steep). Their fruit shaped pastries looked beautiful (and a couple next to us said they loved the mango one), but were $12 each. Their fruit-topped Danishes also looked delicious, but weren't available any more at lunch time. They also offer milk shakes and loaded (sweet) croissants. There are only four stools here next to a bar, if you want to eat in. The bathroom was pretty good. I probably wouldn't come here again, but if I were in the area I might try some of their other pastries or sweet treats.
