Hubby and I tried Serafina's one evening for dinner. We drove over, ordered at the counter and grabbed a table inside. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza plus 2 slices of their margarita grandma pizza. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed the atmosphere. The line was long and consistent but it moved quickly. The pepperoni pizza was very, very greasy. I'm okay with some grease but this was way more than normal to the point my plate had a huge puddle of grease. I had to soak it up with napkins just to keep my plate usable. It also didn't have a whole lot of flavor which I was surprised by. I really liked the grandma slice and wished we ordered a whole pizza instead of just a couple slices. Not sure we would give them another try despite enjoying the grandma slices. read more

Very disappointed with the food we received from Serafina. Normally, we enjoy their food and have never had any issues, but this experience was unacceptable. We ordered a large pie with half pepperoni and roasted red peppers and the other half plain cheese. The order was made incorrectly, with roasted red peppers placed on the cheese side. While we believe this was a simple miscommunication and not a major issue, we picked the peppers off and moved on. The bigger problem came with the second box. We ordered three different slices. Two buffalo chicken slices were fine, but the Hawaiian slice was poorly made. It was literally a slice of plain cheese pizza with cold ham and pineapple thrown on top and served as is. When we questioned it, we were told that no one orders that pizza and they were just trying to accommodate us. The owner, Vinny, then got on the phone and was extremely dismissive. He made the comment, "We can't hit a home run every time," and mentioned they were swamped because the Jaguars game had just ended. At no point did he take responsibility or show any concern about correcting an obvious mistake. I could even hear him in the background saying, "What do they want me to do? That's how we make the pizzas." That response was disappointing and unprofessional. Mistakes happen, but how they are handled matters. Unfortunately, this was handled very poorly. Needless to say, we will not be ordering from Serafina again. They have lost a loyal customer. read more

We're born and raised Long Islanders, and both worked in Manhattan for years before escaping from the People's Republic of New York and landing in Jacksonville. We've eaten in the best pizzerias in the New York area (and not in the touristy spots in Manhattan). Some really excellent places are in Queens, Southern Connecticut, and on Long Island. Just to say, we know what we like when it comes to pizza. There are only a few places in the Jax area that we think are worth patronizing for their pizza, and our recent first visit to Serafina's got them added to our list. After awhile it became inconsistent with the food being just ok (it's never been horrible). I really don't understand the hype with serafina pizza.. it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Lacks flavor big time! The white pizza was so bland, the ricotta was rubbery and wouldn't even separate with your hands.. The sausage and mushroom was good though the mushrooms are canned and had major flop. The storefront is small with a counter, and small seating area. There are pizzas by the slice on display and then the rest of the space is devoted to the kitchen. We ordered a pie, half cheese and the other half with some roasted red peppers and eggplant. It came quickly, despite how busy with orders the restaurant was. Crust was thin and crispy. Sauce was nice (I like my sauce a little lighter and this was good). Just enough cheese (I know, is there ever enough?), and served hot enough for a good cheese pull. The walls are covered with New York memorabilia which is a cute touch. Not many tables, but I was there on a Tuesday night so had no trouble getting a seat. Their take out and delivery business was impressive. A steady stream of pizzas and other food going out the the door and you can tell folks in the area really like this place. To me a big reason that Serafina's is a great restaurant are the people running the place. Super friendly husband and wife that were thrilled to learn that my friend and I were first time diners. The woman co-owner (and I'm sorry I didn't get her name) took her time explaining the various pizzas and what our choices were. More importantly when another customer pointed out that the topping on the pizza they got was not what they wanted, she quickly said it was her fault and made them a new pizza. Plus a free dessert for their troubles. Their customer service shows they truly care about their brand and their product! And the pizza? I tried three different slices; a sausage slice, the New Yorker (like a Margherita) and a cheese Sicilian slice. The Sicilian was good, but I thought the thicker crust could be just a touch crispier. The sausage slice was great. Worked well with the sauce and the cheese and the crust was perfectly crispy. To me though the star slice was the New Yorker. The pomodoro sauce was a touch sweeter than the tomato sauce on the other slices and was amazing with the basic and mozzarella. Truly a really great slice of pizza. My friend ordered a whole pie to take some home for later. The pies are huge and he will be eating pizza for days! For many, pizza is life. Being an "authentic" born & raised New Yorker, nothing disappoints me more than these subpar pizza joints pretending to be like a NY pizzeria! I ate here for dinner during the week with my parents and my toddler. I really enjoyed the garlic knots. I thought they were very girly which I really enjoy. The pizza was pretty good. We ate in store and didn't do takeout so it might be a little different, but we enjoyed it. It was pretty small in the inside. Most of their business appears to be takeout, though. Service was friendly and quick. They have appetizers, salads, three entrees, and pizza. Pizza is sold by the slices or by the pie. I ordered a supreme pie. The toppings and sauce tasted good. However, the dough was the issue. It was either undercooked or too thin to hold the toppings.
